I wanna start off with a guy falling into a tiger cage. That's where we're gonna start.
speaker-1 (01:07)
Hold on, let's preface this. He was mentally handicapped.
speaker-0 (01:12)
Yes, no no he wasn't mentally handicapped, he was having a mental episode.
speaker-1 (01:17)
I thought they said he was like autistic or something and he like
speaker-0 (01:19)
I I
don't think he He was a former child actor apparently. Never heard of him, but yeah, if you I'm glad they didn't kill the tiger. That's all I'm gonna say. Cause if we had another Harambe situation on our hands, I don't know if this country could have handled
speaker-1 (01:35)
I don't know if this show could survive 'cause we were born on the backs of Harambe.
speaker-0 (01:39)
Yeah. Well one of our segments was born on the backs of a rabbit.
speaker-1 (01:43)
We have
to make a new segment if they kill the tiger.
speaker-0 (01:46)
I th I think we might have to. Yeah. I we might have had to. Thank God. Soldier the only person who could have held us together would have been Soldier Boy as president.
speaker-1 (01:54)
Yeah. President.
I throw my hat back around.
Sorry. I just want to make sure everyone knew I wasn't actually a race fan. here's my take on it. At this point, there are so many stupid people at zoos. They need to make it so you just can't get in. Like, if your p
speaker-0 (02:14)
Hopefully I can't get into the zoo.
speaker-1 (02:15)
no, into the cage. I mean make it bush.
speaker-0 (02:18)
No,
I I think you I think you shouldn't let people into the zoo.
speaker-1 (02:21)
Yeah. Well, I don't yeah, I don't don't think there should be zoos. but you need to put up a sign on dangerous animal enclosures. If you or your children get into the enclosure, we will not put the lives of our staff or our animals in danger to protect you you or your kid.
speaker-0 (02:39)
I think they should have a sign that says if you get into the dangerous animal enclosure, you will die. I think that's that's a little bit more
speaker-1 (02:47)
Fucking sucks.
speaker-0 (02:48)
You will die. What would be your
speaker-1 (02:51)
What would be
speaker-0 (02:53)
preferred animal enclosure that you would jump into?
speaker-2 (02:57)
man, I feel like some zebras could be fun.
speaker-0 (03:00)
Has to be a dangerous dangerous animal enclosure.
speaker-1 (03:03)
Zeeper default?
speaker-2 (03:04)
Do elephants count as dangerous?
speaker-0 (03:08)
Yeah,
they've they've they've de they definitely kill people. They kill people out of revenge. Yeah.
speaker-2 (03:12)
I'd go elephants. I'm I'm just very thrown off because I had not heard this story and then I looked it up and saw the video and I'm a little thrown off.
speaker-1 (03:21)
Did you see the whole video or just the one where it lunged at him and he went No?
speaker-0 (03:25)
Yeah, that was
speaker-2 (03:28)
One with its mouth with its mouth on him, it wasn't actively killing him, but it was it was about to. It kinda cut off there.
speaker-0 (03:37)
He didn't really look scared. He just looked irritated. He was like, Why like get away from me? What are you doing? Get away from
speaker-2 (03:43)
It looks like he willingly entered the
speaker-1 (03:46)
He
crawled up like scooted up to him on his butt like scoot.
speaker-2 (03:49)
And at that point it's just kind of natural selection. Like whatever happens to you happens. I mean, I d I don't feel I don't feel bad for
speaker-1 (03:58)
I also think we've gotten to a weird point in this like in society and social media where you can scroll across social media and see people get killed. Like politics, sports, someone dying. Like
speaker-0 (04:13)
I mean, we can't set talk about that and not at least mention the fact that the government was considering putting a live execution like
speaker-1 (04:22)
Last one was in France in like nine in like the seventies.
In like a western country. Yeah, they they live streamed the last guillotine. 'Cause a guy had committed a murder while the guillotine was actively being used and laws changed about the death penalty and finally it got to and they're like, We're using the method that you were convicted of.
speaker-0 (04:44)
The last the last guillotine I I that does need to be live streamed. I agree. I think the French government did the right thing. If it's badass like the guillotine, that's pretty
speaker-1 (04:55)
They should have
chipped up the guillotine and sold little fragments of like like they do with Facebook.
Stadium dirt. This is the last guillotine. A piece of the last guillotine. I couldn't afford a piece of the actual metal, but I got some wood. Little bit of blood on it. Like a card. Like a tops trading card with a game used Batbeast.
speaker-2 (05:15)
That'd
be sick.
speaker-1 (05:17)
Yeah, one of my favorite executions, kinda have a piece of it.
speaker-0 (05:22)
man.
speaker-1 (05:23)
Alex,
before I continue, I just want to say that is an awesome jacket you're wearing, and I don't compliment you often, but I know Caleb Caleb
speaker-0 (05:30)
You never
speaker-1 (05:31)
was thirsting for a compliment on his jersey before we started recording. I just want to make sure I complimented you on your Thank you. What is that? Starter jacket with
speaker-0 (05:41)
Yeah, this is this is actually the Team USA, Dream Team jacket, Kellogg's. There's a little thing here.
speaker-1 (05:51)
Redeem team like spanked that ass.
speaker-0 (05:53)
No, this the dream team is it's it's the dream team. It's my it's Michael.
speaker-1 (05:59)
Is Christian Leitner on there?
speaker-0 (06:01)
He probably is. I also have
speaker-1 (06:03)
Burried
that fucking team.
speaker-0 (06:05)
It's the it's it's not it's not a starter jacket. It is the wha I can't remember the names of the little figurines. What are the little figurines? Sports figurines.
speaker-1 (06:14)
Funko Pop.
speaker-0 (06:15)
No, no, no. Let me let me know.
speaker-1 (06:17)
Barbie. Barbie.
speaker-2 (06:20)
Yeah.
speaker-0 (06:22)
Really good Larry Walker little guy.
speaker-2 (06:25)
Factex.
speaker-0 (06:26)
not a tech deck. If you're watching on the YouTube you probably will figure it out. I can't remember the name of these guys, but this like came with I have the whole dream team set of these little figurines and it came with this. I bought it at some old hobby shop so
speaker-2 (06:42)
I was twenty four years old when that dream team happened.
speaker-1 (06:45)
It was.
speaker-0 (06:46)
He was older than most of the players.
speaker-1 (06:48)
Yeah, I'm I'm eighty now, so
speaker-2 (06:51)
Grew
up with Christian Leitner.
speaker-1 (06:53)
Well, Christian li I I I don't remember the year I was born, Christian Chris.
speaker-0 (06:56)
He called him Chris. He called him Chris like.
speaker-1 (06:58)
Yeah, I called him Young Man. Young Man plays a heck of a game. I was born the year he he beat KU in the final four, when they won their first champ when Duke won their first championship. Bullshit.
I hate Christian Leitner. Yeah.
speaker-2 (07:13)
Fantastic document.
speaker-0 (07:14)
It's
probably on ESPN plus or whatever the ESPN thing is.
speaker-1 (07:19)
my favorite takeo no, was that was that in the Christian Leitner documentary or was that in the Fab Five documentary where they asked all the Fab Five to say the first thing that came to mind when they said Christian Leitner? And
speaker-2 (07:30)
I think it was five five.
speaker-1 (07:31)
then he goes, A bitch. Hell yeah. Is this open time?
speaker-0 (07:38)
Yeah, you got something?
speaker-1 (07:39)
Yeah. where do we stand with a conspiracy theory that the Dodgers are intentionally throwing the NLCS
So that three of the lowest spending teams are the only ones with a chance to win the World Series so that the salary cap doesn't get passed.
speaker-2 (07:55)
I don't think the Dodgers owners give a shit what happens next year in twenty twenty seven. I
speaker-1 (08:00)
No, this one went right.
speaker-2 (08:01)
don't think they care about a lockout. I don't think there's a conspiracy there. They're they're going for a three peat and they're failing miserably as we record this, but yeah. I I don't mind that
speaker-0 (08:13)
I thought I thought you had more on that too.
speaker-1 (08:15)
Well the I saw it on Facebook and I saw people saying that's the most Dodgers bullshit I've ever heard. they would do something like that. I'm like, you people can't actually believe that the Dodgers would throw a series in modern era with social media and all this. of course they brought up
speaker-0 (08:34)
I think it'd be pretty easy to catch. They have every angle of the stadium possible.
speaker-1 (08:39)
There are players on that roster that are coming up for free agency, Tarek Scoobyl, and you think they would want to be embroiled in a scandal like that as they enter free agency for their big ass contract? Yeah. No.
speaker-0 (08:52)
Well the Dodgers the Dodgers are gonna be the ones to spend the money on them.
speaker-1 (08:57)
Yeah, it's true.
speaker-2 (08:57)
Spending spending sixty million on Kyle Tucker just to tank in the playoffs doesn't make too much sense to me.
speaker-1 (09:03)
He's been better than Otani in the postseason.
speaker-2 (09:06)
Otani sucks in the postseason, carried by his two big games.
speaker-1 (09:10)
Yeah. And Freddie Freeman.
speaker-2 (09:12)
I think I saw he had a six seventy five OPS or something like that outside of his two like massive postseason games in his career.
speaker-1 (09:20)
But what is it when you include those? Because like six sets
speaker-2 (09:23)
I think it's like eight hundred eight hundred OPS.
speaker-1 (09:26)
So it's no not good, it's like six, seven or something.
speaker-2 (09:28)
But he had he had that he had that three homer game la was it last year, the year before, and then threw six shutty. Like that that's kinda carried his postseason numbers at least.
speaker-1 (09:41)
I mean shit, if I could have one good postseason performance in my life, I'd want it to be that one.
speaker-2 (09:45)
Judge doesn't have a postseason game like that.
speaker-1 (09:48)
No, well Judge doesn't pitch so that would be kind of difficult.
speaker-2 (09:51)
He doesn't have a three homer game, much less I don't think he has a five hit game.
speaker-0 (09:54)
I Mickey has a ring.
speaker-2 (09:56)
He does not really wanna confirm. Check
speaker-1 (09:58)
Okay. Yeah.
speaker-2 (10:00)
Just double check my sources.
speaker-0 (10:01)
Aaron Judge has the same Aaron Judge has the same amount of rings as the Rays franchise.
speaker-1 (10:06)
Aaron Judge is the same number of rings as Bobby Witt Jr. Is Bobby Witt Jr. better than Aaron Judge? Some are saying. And I rings I'm some.
speaker-2 (10:15)
Same out of rings as Josh Allen.
speaker-1 (10:16)
It's true. Josh Allen's never gonna fucking get one either.
Is Josh Allen actually the zodiac killer? Some are saying.
speaker-2 (10:25)
He got Zodiac killed by Drake May.
speaker-1 (10:29)
dude,
speaker-2 (10:27)
Okay, the button. He's back, folks.
speaker-1 (10:29)
I'm just I'm just laying him up for Caleb and he's fucking hammered home. Caleb, that's my man.
Cut that. Cut that. Caleb, do you have an open topic today?
speaker-2 (10:41)
just a small one, dabbling into Red Sox world.
speaker-1 (10:45)
Little I wanted to make a joke.
Is your topic your penis?
speaker-2 (10:50)
Not today.
speaker-0 (10:51)
His red soft.
speaker-2 (10:52)
That's for Sundays.
No, just my my quick little thought is that the Red Sox need to fire everybody and their medical staff. I don't care what they've done, how what tenure they've had. After this season, they need to all go. I don't know who's at fault. The doctors they're using, the training staff on site. Everyone needs to go. You need to find a different doctor, whatever. Because this is another instance, it's Garrett Whitlock News.
Of he pitched his last month of the year with a broken leg. And nobody diagnosed
speaker-0 (11:26)
Yeah, I saw that. That was fucked up.
speaker-2 (11:28)
it. Nobody diagnosed it. They just thought, it's this little stinger. He's fine. He doesn't need surgery. Blah blah blah. And then comes out after the year, he's in a walking boot. He's got a fractured tibia. And the this is just like the cherry on top of the season that was the 2026 Red Sox. You have the Roman Anthony stuff. It's just a little.
Little tweak, he'll he'll be back in a week. Boom, Anthony's gone for three months. And then he re injures his wrist, his hand, everything's hurt. Garrett Crochet. They think he's gonna be back in a couple weeks. it's a short IL stint. He doesn't come back till the literal last game of the year. Something is wrong. I I don't know enough about the inside info of major league it's
speaker-0 (12:14)
I think we need to look at their health insurance and and see what doctors
speaker-1 (12:17)
Let me say I only follow like Royals health news. Seriously, I don't check anybody else's health news. Same thing with the Royals. So it it could be a problem with baseball in general. Like the Royals, Chris Buvich is going to be out for a few weeks. He we never saw him again. Cole Reagan's going to be out for a month. Never saw him again. granted, you I know people that have had stress fractures from running and you
can operate through them, but at that level, if someone says, Hey, something hurts in my leg, you should be getting an MRI and figuring out that they had a stress fraction.
speaker-0 (12:57)
That's what that's what Daniel Jones had last year, right before he tore his Achilles. On his other leg, actually.
speaker-2 (13:03)
A lot of these teams are so quick to cover up any kind of injury, try and get their guy back out there. no, he's fine. And like he's I I'm sure it happened throughout the league too. Like this might be a league-wide issue, but I'm seeing it with the Red Sox, the way Anthony was handled, the way Crochet was handled, and now now this stuff coming out about Whitlock pitching with a broken leg, and he was still fine. But like that kind of stuff is is scary. Like the you're you're messing around with
When it's Roman Anthony, you're messing around with a twenty one, twenty two year old possible future superstar and Garrett Crochet, one of the best pitchers in baseball, it's I don't know, it it's it's a weird weird thing and I would love to see all of the training staff for the Red Sox terminated immediately.
speaker-1 (13:50)
Astros are clean house. I don't know if anybody saw that.
AstroM
speaker-2 (13:53)
Fired
speaker-1 (13:54)
An Espada and I mean I would assume there are gonna be more that go when they name a new manager and a new general manager. They're gonna bring in their own people. So pitching coaching, the the coaching side, go they're gonna clean that out as well. and I pray it is the end of the Astros success. Get the fuck out of here.
speaker-2 (14:18)
And they might bring they might bring back in their old bench coach from twenty seventeen.
speaker-1 (14:23)
the one that knew how to do the the trash can. The insights.
speaker-2 (14:28)
That's on the Alex Core of it. I don't know how much he had in that but
speaker-1 (14:31)
Get fucking real. He knew all about it. Get real.
speaker-2 (14:35)
With the with the Astros, yeah, maybe. Yeah. I don't know if he I don't know if he was making physical contact with the trash can. We can't prove that, but
speaker-1 (14:43)
No. Well, did anybody fingerprint the trash can?
speaker-2 (14:46)
I would assume they'd hit it with a object.
speaker-1 (14:48)
Yeah, well, did anybody fingerprint the objects? Anyway, Alex, back to you, sir.
speaker-0 (14:54)
When you were talking about the Red Sox, I thought you were gonna I've been seeing a lot of twenty thirteen ALCS clips recently because like we're in the ALCS and I thought you were gonna mention that. Maybe those were coming up your timeline.
speaker-1 (15:06)
Just I just want to clarify, the Red Sox are not in the ALCS.
speaker-0 (15:09)
I said the twenty thirteen ALCS. I know because
speaker-1 (15:11)
But you said 'cause we are in the ALCS.
speaker-0 (15:14)
we're in baseball is in the ALCS time right now.
speaker-1 (15:18)
I just want to clarify that the register is
speaker-2 (15:26)
I've
been g I've been getting all the clips. The Victorina Grand Slam.
speaker-0 (15:29)
And
Nap hit nap hitting the home run in Detroit.
speaker-2 (15:31)
Hoffer and lander. The the game two walk off, which we might talk about later, who knows?
speaker-1 (15:37)
I was gonna clarify my your favorite reliever of all time, Koji Uahara.
You said that on like episode three of the cycle. I did.
speaker-0 (15:46)
I your
favorite reliever of all time? That I mean that's not a bad favorite. I really like Daniel Bard for a long time. I really love Daniel Bard.
speaker-1 (15:54)
Closer.
speaker-2 (15:55)
Yeah. We ruined him trying to make him a starter. And
speaker-0 (16:00)
Yeah.
speaker-2 (16:00)
now we're at lock wants to.
speaker-1 (16:01)
You
can close out games in Colorado, you should be a closer fucking anywhere. So I don't understand that. Trying to turn into a starter.
speaker-2 (16:10)
I'm a I'm a Papelbond Andrew Miller guy.
speaker-1 (16:13)
Wade Davis.
speaker-0 (16:14)
Really believed in him. Now I'm sad. All right, let's move on. We're gonna move on to the next topic. Okay. LCS. we have at this point in the show when we're recording, we have the Guardians just won today. They took a 2 1 series lead, and the Milwaukee Brewers have a 3 0 series lead over the Los Angeles Dodgers with a chance tonight to wrap it up. where do we want to start? Where do we want to start here?
I guess the game that already happened, right?
speaker-1 (16:47)
Sorry, I muted myself 'cause I'm putting the the game on. I didn't get to watch any of the game because most people were at work. So
speaker-0 (16:55)
Because
I mean it is the most Tampa Bay devil raise thing to have a ALCS game at one o'clock. It's just it makes the most sense. Listen, I I actually want to talk about the crowd at the trop. John, you have to be responsible for the crowd at the truck because you are a race fan. You are a well known race fan. Well
speaker-1 (17:15)
I'll the Jumbotron.
speaker-0 (17:17)
you were on the jumbo turon in the ALDS against the Yankees.
I think it was hearing Rays fans say it's the traffic. It's the traffic that that we can't get there in time. We can't get to a playoff game in time. The ALCS Are you fucking serious? There's no excuse. There's no excuse. No, there's not. No, there is not.
speaker-1 (17:41)
The biggest jumblefuck of New York Yankees fans trying to figure out how to drive outside of their own city. And the traffic police that were out there directing people, I pulled up to him, I said, Hey, where is public parking? And he goes,
Okay, so I parked in someone's reserved spot in a parking garage. The only place you could park. And there were thousands of people trying to get through the gate, and they only had like seven or eight people there letting people through the gate. It was eight twenty before I got into the game.
speaker-0 (18:15)
Why why are you why are you getting there that late in the first
speaker-1 (18:19)
We
okay. We pulled into the Saint Pete's city limits at six forty. I could see the drop at six forty and we got into the game at eight twenty. That's how fucking awful they are at putting on a game. So I fully blame the race for that. You are responsible for making sure people can get into the stadium. And
speaker-0 (18:39)
Kim Park. If it's the ALCS, I'm just it doesn't matter if you're there a little late. Like it was it was the eighth inning, and there it looked like there were empty seats up.
speaker-1 (18:49)
We were gone by then. We left the seventh. Because I'm a typical Rays fan, dude.
speaker-0 (18:55)
You are. You are a typical race fan. and and you know, hearing about well when we get the new stadium, we're we're all gonna show up. Are you fucking No you're not.
Been tw they've been in Tampa for twenty eight years or in Saint Pete for twenty eight years. They have never supported the team. I've never seen a ra a raise game like that. I felt like, my god, the juice is really here. Like we have all the juice at the drop. It's just it's not I mean, Florida is one of the biggest states in the country, yet you say we're a small market team because why?
speaker-1 (19:33)
Tampa is like the f the is is a top ten the Tampa metro area, which includes St. Pete, is in, I believe, the top ten largest metro area area.
speaker-0 (19:41)
They
they make the excuse that which it's kind of a fair excuse that that it's an hour away from Tampa thirty
speaker-1 (19:50)
It's not
speaker-0 (19:50)
minutes, whatever. That's what that's what that's what I see race fans say. That's what I see race fans say. You don't go over the bridge. You don't go over the
speaker-1 (19:55)
Go over.
I go over the well the Howard the the Howard Frank Franklin is what separates Tampa and Saint Pete.
speaker-0 (20:03)
you go over that bridge? You're you're very anti bridge from my my I He is fully anti bridge. He does not trust bridge.
speaker-1 (20:07)
I am very anti bridge. He's Bridge. Bridge
tells you it's safe? Yeah, that's what Big Bridge wants you to think.
speaker-0 (20:16)
He is anti bridge, hates bridge. yeah, yeah, not good. But
speaker-1 (20:22)
Even the
little ones, by the way. Even the little ones. Walking bridges over a creek.
speaker-0 (20:28)
What about
the Brit you said you just took the Howard Franklin? Yeah.
speaker-1 (20:30)
I didn't enjoy it. I didn't enjoy it. I was scowling the whole way.
speaker-0 (20:36)
He was pissed he was pissed. There was just steam coming out of his ears while he
speaker-1 (20:40)
Part two
style. Fucking bridge.
speaker-0 (20:44)
He's yelling at the kids in the back of the car, Shut up, we're going over the bridge. Stop. Like dad
speaker-1 (20:50)
I
don't want to go over the bridge. Dad gets scary when he goes over the bridge.
speaker-0 (20:54)
Yeah.
speaker-1 (20:57)
Bridges are my equivalent of like Dad gets angry when he drinks. Dad gets angry on bridges.
speaker-0 (21:02)
They're gonna be they're gonna be like twenty five years old and and they're gonna be with, you know, a girlfriend or something. And the girl's like, Just take the bridge and like, No, we gotta never I can't take the bridge.
speaker-1 (21:11)
Okay. Brings you back.
man. Anyway, I still have the Raisin Seven.
speaker-0 (21:19)
I just I just don't want them. They are not a small market team that deserves it. Cleveland deserves it. There's yeah, they do. They absolutely do. Are you serious?
speaker-1 (21:29)
Well, I don't want Cleveland to win a World Series. I'm a Royal
speaker-0 (21:32)
Why?
speaker-1 (21:33)
because there are the Guardians. I don't want the White Sox, the Tigers, anybody in my division to win a World Series.
speaker-0 (21:40)
Those
rivalries are just not big enough to
speaker-1 (21:43)
no, it's not even a rivalry. I just don't want anybody in the AL Central to have a World Series ceremony in the off chance that they hold the ALC the World Series ceremony while the Royals are playing them. And our my my players have to watch that bullshit. Maybe maybe
speaker-0 (22:01)
Motivation.
speaker-1 (22:02)
it would motivate
speaker-2 (22:03)
I can get on board with that. That that's the reason I'm not rooting for the rays at all.
speaker-0 (22:08)
Better stadium in Cleveland, better fan base, more loyal fan base. So I don't even have to talk about the money. Loyal fan base, better stadium, more investment in the stadium. Better branding.
speaker-2 (22:21)
Deser
Jose Ramirez deserved a ring more than anybody on the rays in rays.
speaker-0 (22:26)
Better
branding. I think better branding, Cleveland. Even maybe maybe not the Guardians, but just the colors, the look. I think Cleveland looks
speaker-1 (22:35)
the Guardians if it's much more in tune with the fucking city. Like when I think of like in the Indians, I'm like, yeah, I think of Cleveland. When you say like Native American history, fucking Cleveland. Cleveland, Ohio. For sure. At least the Guardians is like a meaningful name for the city. Spout the city's architecture.
speaker-0 (22:55)
Off the top of of a typical human being's head, like your typical baseball fan, they don't think about Guardian when you think about Kansas or Cleveland.
speaker-1 (23:07)
You can't the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, that's the only thing they have. And Deshaun Watson.
speaker-2 (23:12)
LeBron.
speaker-1 (23:13)
LeBron Akron.
speaker-0 (23:14)
The the Cleveland Kings.
speaker-1 (23:16)
No Cleveland fucking LeBrons. The Cleveland LeBron Jameses.
speaker-0 (23:20)
The Cleveland Kings. I could I could be on board with the Cleveland Kings.
speaker-1 (23:25)
And their logo is just Chief Wahoo, except instead it's LeBron James.
speaker-2 (23:29)
Kip Bayless did say Johnny Manzell would be bigger for the city of Cleveland than LeBron James, so Johnny
speaker-1 (23:35)
Skip bailing.
speaker-2 (23:35)
Manzell. Never, not once in his life.
speaker-0 (23:39)
Never raw at all.
speaker-1 (23:40)
except when he went into sports journalism. That was probably the wrong move for him. let's talk the baseball though. when it comes to Rays Guardians, I do think the Guardians were a better matchup for the Rays and the White Sox. Unfortunately, the Rays outside of Drew Rasmussen, outside of Freddie Peralta, I think the Guardians overall probably have a better pitching staff and in a series that's been very low scoring.
That's been the big difference. Gavin Williams has been good. Parker Mesick looked good. the only bad start they got was Foster Griffin. and did they still end up winning that game anyway? So is what it is. I'm much more excited about the other side of the bracket, obviously. Caleb, what was your prediction, Milwaukee and the Dodgers?
speaker-2 (24:34)
I mean, before the series I was always gonna say the Dodgers. Dodgers were always the better team on paper, but there was always a part of me that thought, you know, there's a chance the Brewers can work their devil magic into the series, which they have. I mean, you got guys like Jake Bowers working twelve, eleven pitch at bats against lefties, against Cy Young winning lefties and then hitting tanks. I mean
speaker-1 (24:56)
I
had him picked by the way before the series for my NLCS MVP.
speaker-2 (25:01)
I I think at this point it might be William Ponturse, but
Lot of series left.
speaker-1 (25:05)
There's not a lot of series left. There's one game left.
speaker-2 (25:08)
There could be a lot of series left, but you know Burrus seem like a team of destiny kind of team this year.
speaker-0 (25:14)
There's
what did they say? There's been like forty three three O leads in LCS history or or playoff history. And only one of Caleb.
speaker-1 (25:24)
But it was Jeff Robert.
speaker-0 (25:26)
Caleb, who who who was that?
speaker-2 (25:29)
Who was what? Sorry.
speaker-0 (25:30)
Who was the one team that that won down a three
speaker-2 (25:33)
That would be my Bostonian socks of red.
speaker-0 (25:38)
Is it a Boston Americans? Yeah.
speaker-1 (25:40)
Is it a ridiculous take when people are saying, Well, Dave Roberts has done it before?
speaker-0 (25:46)
I don't think it's I think it's kind of stupid. I think it's a it would be like a supporting take of like, yeah, you do have a guy who's been there, but I I think that's pretty much it. It's not really that's not like you can't use that as your main argument of like Well Dave Roberts has been there and that's it.
speaker-1 (26:05)
Stole a base. Unless he's gonna pinch run to hold
speaker-0 (26:10)
and then he scored then he scored the timing r tying run. Fair. But he stole Yeah. The it wasn't
speaker-1 (26:14)
Unless pinch
running unless he's pinch running for the Dodgers, I don't see how it affects
speaker-2 (26:20)
There's no correlation.
speaker-1 (26:21)
Other than maybe his locker room speech.
speaker-0 (26:25)
And
the the video he shows before the game.
speaker-1 (26:28)
That's me. I did it. You fucking losers can't. Just me.
speaker-0 (26:35)
That's it's it's like showing it's like showing a video about nine eleven before a football game. That's what it's gonna be like.
speaker-1 (26:41)
You guys are
speaker-0 (26:42)
That's
my favorite. That's one of my favorite motivational tactics ever. Who did that? Just nine eleven. Sean McDermott.
speaker-1 (26:49)
Showed nine eleven clips. For what purpose? And who is Sean McDermott?
speaker-0 (26:56)
He was the Bills head coach who was just fired. Motivation.
speaker-2 (26:58)
Coach.
speaker-1 (27:01)
why was he How the fuck are you making about Listen
speaker-0 (27:06)
Tom Brady is probably Tom Brady is one of the most thankful people for nine eleven. Like he he is so happy nine eleven has.
speaker-1 (27:14)
Because that Kim Bletso got hurt because of Drip of nine eleven. Yeah.
speaker-0 (27:18)
Yeah.
If nine eleven doesn't happen, Tom Brady might not win six Super Bowls for the Patriots.
speaker-1 (27:23)
Here's my question. What did the players say who were in that locker room? Was a
speaker-0 (27:28)
Like,
I I would assume they were probably like what the fuck's going on? I I I would hope that that was
speaker-1 (27:33)
You know the Royals in like twenty seventeen held an anti masturbation conference and forced the players to
speaker-0 (27:40)
I
thought you were gonna say they just scrolled through live leak.
speaker-1 (27:43)
No. No, they had an anti how masturbation negatively affects your ability on the field. I would guess it's a very similar reaction to the nine eleven clips. Like, what the fuck are we doing here? I'm looking this up now. Sean McDermott.
speaker-0 (27:59)
Was was Dan Orlovsky in that meeting too? Dan Orlovsky,
speaker-2 (28:02)
I don't know.
speaker-0 (28:03)
famous, I'm pretty sure it's Dan Orlovsky, famous anti-masturbation guy.
speaker-1 (28:07)
Fucking loser. He publicly apologized in twenty twenty three after a report revealed he used the nine eleven hijackers as an example of teamwork and communication.
Like you guys That's even worse. More like the Saudis.
speaker-0 (28:21)
I forgot that.
speaker-1 (28:25)
You know who can bond as a team? Terrorists.
speaker-0 (28:29)
Dan Orlovsky had a had just just to talk about masturbation for a second.
He writes columns about parenting for family first all pro dad blog, and one of his posts was four ways to avoid temptation.
speaker-1 (28:49)
Is it the anti masturbation cross?
speaker-0 (28:52)
No, he said he would avoid going one on one with a woman at any point in in any sort of setting. He would never be one on one with another woman, no matter what, to avoid temptation temptation. yeah, John Kitna apparently taught him to never be one on one with a female.
speaker-1 (29:12)
So John Kitten is a fucking chud too.
speaker-0 (29:16)
Ha ha ha.
speaker-1 (29:17)
How many rings does John Kitna have?
speaker-0 (29:19)
I don't know. Hold on.
speaker-1 (29:21)
Good.
speaker-2 (29:22)
Incredible segue into our best posters and walk off his
speaker-1 (29:25)
Hey Siri, how many anti masturbation guys have won a Super Bowl? None. Siri just said actually Siri said none because they're fucking
speaker-0 (29:35)
he's a World Bowl champion. He won the World Bowl and the World Bowl MVP. Was that what that
speaker-1 (29:42)
Mm.
speaker-0 (29:43)
was NFL Europe.
Alright, well Caleb, do you have anything on Dodgers Brewers?
Anything?
speaker-3 (29:51)
Yeah.
speaker-2 (29:51)
yes. I mean
Give me the sweet, baby.
speaker-0 (29:56)
That
speaker-1 (29:56)
Right now.
speaker-0 (29:57)
looks too close to masturbation. I think you need to I think you need to read Dan Lovsky's
speaker-2 (30:01)
If I if I'm doing it because I've got issues.
speaker-0 (30:05)
Yeah.
speaker-2 (30:05)
I go, I was gonna room.
speaker-1 (30:06)
That's the boy.
speaker-2 (30:08)
If you're some other thing, that's
speaker-0 (30:10)
Some men are known to have a curve.
speaker-1 (30:12)
Commercial for that. It's only one injection a month directly into it and it's supposed to hit your curve, Caleb.
speaker-2 (30:20)
Just give me a brewer sweep. Fuck it.
speaker-0 (30:22)
So
we were talking about bad commercials. One of the worst commercials I have to see is a Sunday ticket. Liberty
speaker-1 (30:27)
Liberty Beverty.
speaker-0 (30:29)
Biberty's bad too, but I'm talking about this this is a Sunday ticket commercial, and this dad is building like some sort of thing in his daughter's in his daughter's room. And he's like, What's happening in the game? What's happening in the game? And his wife sends the little girl in and she just like tries to describe what's going on in the football game. And I I just get infuriated every time. She's like, the the player went
speaker-1 (30:52)
Boom, and then boom, and then boom, boom, boom.
speaker-0 (30:54)
Boom
and every time I watch I'm like, I you need to shut the fuck up and you need to tell me what's going on in that fucking game right now. I'm building shit for you and you can't tell me what's going on in a football game. The girl's like four, so you know. They're not really smart at that age.
speaker-1 (31:11)
Commercials have gotten fucking bad by the way. That was gonna be one of my open topics in the coming
speaker-0 (31:15)
You
already taught that was already your hot take. You can't fucking do it again. all right. Anything else on league championship series talk?
speaker-1 (31:26)
No good. Right now let's go. Christ dragon.
speaker-2 (31:29)
Got one quick thought that I think Gavin Williams is gonna have a Yamamoto moment in the World Series if he gets there. He he's got that kind of dominance and the the way he's thrown these last couple games in the playoffs. He would look ridiculous.
speaker-1 (31:44)
It's just
speaker-2 (31:46)
And he's come out of the bullpen in one of these games and just dominated two one sixty area this postseason. So I'm chalk me down for a Gavin Williams ALCS or World Series MVP.
speaker-0 (31:59)
How many games do we think the World Series is gonna go?
Five.
speaker-2 (32:03)
I could s guards yeah. If it's guards, brewers, I I think I'm taking brewers in five.
speaker-1 (32:10)
I don't think I I so my mom texted me the other day, solid ball knower for a s mid 70s, or no, she's 71, 71 year old woman. said, I don't think either the Brewers or the Dodgers look that good. I'm like, Jane, it's because they are both so much better than what we're seeing on the American League side. It's like two guys don't look like they're good boxers if they're both the best in the world. Okay, they're countering each other, they're both good, well coached teams.
On the American League side, it's just a fucking step down. I'm not sure I remember a time when there with there being this much of a difference between the best in the American League and the best in the National League.
speaker-0 (32:50)
To equate it to football, it would be like last year's Super Bowl.
speaker-1 (32:54)
Yeah. No Wrong! Wrong!
speaker-2 (32:54)
No no no, no.
speaker-1 (33:00)
No! No! No! We played we we we deserved to win that game!
speaker-2 (33:06)
We've beat three playoff teams to get there.
speaker-1 (33:08)
Drake the schedule, May. You know what's hilarious? I just fucking got it like a month ago. It's like why they call him the schedule. it's because he's only playing
speaker-0 (33:20)
And he's good
against bad teams. That's what it is. Yeah. He's
speaker-2 (33:26)
Yeah only through for
speaker-0 (33:27)
only good against bad teams in his own division. And his own division.
speaker-1 (33:31)
Well, the bills weren't that fucking good, so
speaker-0 (33:34)
That's true.
speaker-2 (33:35)
I mean I'd I would love to see Mahomes throw for four hundred against the Raiders this year, but
speaker-1 (33:40)
We have another game. We have another game.
speaker-2 (33:42)
And he won't he won't throw for four hundred the second time.
speaker-1 (33:45)
It's because the Raiders are trying harder against Mahomes, you know, they're 'cause they they wanna beat him. They wanted to make sure Drake May got to pad his stats before he misses the playoff.
speaker-0 (33:56)
That's
what Roger Goodell said. He said to Tom Brady, you need to make sure that Kirk Cousins just throws this game.
speaker-1 (34:03)
Yeah.
speaker-0 (34:04)
Plus they wanted they wanted to get Mendoza. They wanted to get Mendoza in the game.
speaker-2 (34:08)
A three and two with one of the best opponent winning percentages in the league. I'll take it. Tony the belt the belt to the Jets.
speaker-0 (34:16)
What?
speaker-1 (34:17)
I'm sorry, I'm watching the baseball. Why the fuck did you take that pitch?
speaker-0 (34:20)
Also, I I gotta say, elite uniform matchup tonight on Thursday night football as well. Elite.
speaker-1 (34:25)
Who plays the
speaker-0 (34:26)
It's it's Seahawks Seahawks Broncos, but they're both wearing their throwback. So orange crush versus the like nineties Seahawks uniforms. It's an elite, elite uniform matchup.
speaker-1 (34:43)
shit, the game already started. I can't fucking fix my lineup. God damn it. And my whole team is questionable. Anyway, sorry.
speaker-0 (34:50)
Alright. I think that's a good spot to move into the next segment. Okay, NFL game picks. We're gonna go through every game. We'll talk a little bit about them. and we'll give our spread and overall pick. We're gonna start at 9 30 in London, the debut of Marvin Harrison Jr. in London against the Jaguars. I saw some I saw Adam Schefter say he would debut in Houston.
not realizing that this game was in London, which it is also a road game for the Texans anyways. but Texans one and four coming off their first win of the year. And the Jags coming off an absolute miracle of a game, which they should not have been that game should not have been that close in my eyes for Jacksonville to be a real team. everyone knows that I just fucking hate Jacksonville. I just can't stand that that they people think that they're good.
That Philly team is not good. Jalen Hurts was playing through a blood clot in his leg, and he's gonna be out this week. I just I just could not believe that they allowed that that Eagles team to hang around. but I I feel like they're gonna beat up on Houston here. I just don't really see the Texans coming into London and winning this game. I just don't think they have I feel like they're not better than the Jags at really anything. On any side of the ball. The defense doesn't look as good.
I mean you can say the defense was better with with D'Amico Ryans as play caller last week, but they're also playing the Titans. It it's not exactly a a an accomplishment, a major accomplishment to beat up on this year's Titans. So I'm gonna take Jacksonville. I'm gonna take a minus two and a half. I I like them a lot here.
speaker-3 (36:37)
I too, you know a friend was pushing me to to take the Texans in this one. He said he really likes, you know, this is the spot for Houston. 'cause ja it it does feel like Houston stinks, but at the same time, is Jacksonville really a five and one team? Is Houston a one and five team? If nothing else, I'll grab a couple points with Houston. I'll take a couple with Houston. but maybe it was just the Jags adjusting to the time zone. I don't know.
They should be used to it. I'll say Houston.
speaker-0 (37:09)
Just not that
good, man. They're just there's nothing exciting. Like what is what is exciting about this Jaguars team? I just don't see it's they remind me of the Rays, to be honest. They very much remind me of the Rays. There's really nothing exciting but they're finding ways to win. 'cause they play this fundamental s I guess style of football.
they're just not just not that good. Bears Falcons, Chicago one and a half point favorites in Atlanta.
speaker-3 (37:46)
Well, again, I don't know what the quarterback situation is for either team. I mean, I know Tua threw the pick in overtime, but you know, he should be a competent backup. Bears, the Falcons, what? No,
speaker-0 (37:59)
I don't know.
speaker-3 (38:00)
I know, but the Falcons haven't won at home. That just feels like it's due. And it feels like both of these teams should be three and three right now. I'm gonna take Atlanta.
speaker-0 (38:08)
I'm looking up the Bears quarterback situation. he did practice he was a full participant in this week's practice, but he was officially questionable. No, Caleb Williams.
speaker-3 (38:21)
Well yeah, I mean even that, you know, quarterbacks come back from injury, it could take a week and they're rusty. I'm I'm going with Atlanta.
speaker-0 (38:26)
Fa Michael Penix will play versus
speaker-1 (38:29)
There you go.
speaker-0 (38:29)
he will play. yeah, this it feels very bears to to fall back to to three and three here. I think these teams feel like three and three teams. This is perfectly even. Shac I I like like the Falcons here. we do pick Ravens Browns in the Maryland spotlight, so catch that catch that after the MLB LCS.
segment that we do. Titans, Colts. I mean, the Titans are really bad, so the Colts probably will win this. But they're so the Colts are so bad. They're such a bad, they're a poorly coached football team. They're a poorly just the players don't play well. There's just nothing exciting to watch with this team. I don't think that
I th I don't think that Anthony Richardson would be any better than what Daniel Jones is doing, but I think he would be more exciting. And at this point in the year, I would say just put in Richardson because who knows? Who knows what could happen? we know what we're getting out of Daniel Jones. Daniel Jones does not move like Daniel Jones did last year. he's and he's clearly scared to throw the football. and when you shut down Jonathan Taylor
You shut down the entire offense. It's just it was infuriating to watch because there's so many times where you're sitting there saying, Why are you not running Jonathan Taylor? Why are you not running Jonathan Taylor when he's running well? And then when Taylor's running well and you're moving the ball by throwing the football, Shane Steichen says, we need to run it now. He he's outthinking himself. That's all he does. He he out thinks himself. And it's infuriating to watch. I guess I'll take the Colts here, 'cause
The Titans are just so bad, but I'm not really happy taking the call. I would I won't come out of this game saying, wow, I'm so happy we won. Unless we win like 50 to nothing or some crazy blowout. I I just won't be happy.
speaker-3 (40:34)
Yeah, I I it's not that I'm that confident in the Colts, but man, Tennessee is just awful until they prove otherwise to me. So I'm gonna still take Indy here. I mean I don't know. They they have enough weapons. It's just Cam Ward, man. He looks he's like CJ Stroud, they just like deer in headlights they got going on right now. I mean, Tate looks like a solid receiver, but that's that's not enough.
speaker-0 (40:58)
Jets Patriots New England. Seven and a half point favorites in New England. all I'm gonna say is it's Jets Patriots. We know the history. We know what what happens when these two teams meet.
speaker-3 (41:10)
Yeah, we do. but I don't know. I w was last week an anomaly a little bit for New England, you know, putting up forty five. I mean May had five touchdowns and then they did get
speaker-0 (41:23)
Maybe Buffalo, you know.
speaker-3 (41:25)
I know that they did. And they did so it you know, it's actually two weeks in a row. They've looked pretty good. but, you know, I I guess
I guess you gotta go hot hand here and you're right, the history, but Drake Mays on a roll. Rivalry games though, I don't know that I'd be totally confident laying the seven points on
speaker-0 (41:47)
The Jets are coming off the greatest win in their organization. That was that was what was said after their win last week over the Browns.
speaker-3 (41:55)
Seriously? Why? A seventeen twelve brain.
speaker-0 (42:01)
I don't know. I have no clue why. But they just said it was it was the greatest win in their in their history. Let me look up Jets win.
Let's see.
speaker-3 (42:12)
I don't know where I see that, but Yeah. I I didn't think there was anything great about that win for the Jets. However, they have hung in there in some games this year. Yeah, I mean they you know, they ran it well, I I just think the Jets are gonna keep it close. And I don't know if
They're gonna pull off the upset. But I I like the Jets to cover in that one.
speaker-0 (42:39)
I don't know if I like to cover. It doesn't even I don't know. They I you know, I've I've doubted the Jets. I think I think I can I can maybe bet with them to go plus seven and a half, I guess. But Patriots, yeah, I don't think the Patriots are losing this game. At all. There's no in my eyes, there's no way they lose this game. Saints, Giants. Giants coming off. I think a win of a tie. I think they won the tie after the Jaden Daniels
Bullshit at the line. Saints, it's bad. It's really not good. But they are one and a half point favorites coming into this one at MetLife. That's kind of a shocking line to me.
speaker-3 (43:22)
Yeah, I I'm taking the Giants.
speaker-0 (43:24)
Who is it still Jameis?
speaker-3 (43:26)
Would assume so, yeah.
speaker-0 (43:28)
'Cause I know McCarthy's there.
Yeah, it still looks like it's it's
speaker-3 (43:33)
They're not
speaker-0 (43:33)
gonna be Jameis.
speaker-3 (43:34)
Yeah. Now Saints are see how long the Ravens can go with only one loss and the Saints go with only one win and it was the same game.
speaker-0 (43:45)
Yeah, I'm picking the Saints 'cause of Tyler Shuck and I'm still riding with him, but really tough, tough week last week. Tough week for our for the Shuck boys. Panthers, Eagles, Carolina, three and a half point favorites in Philadelphia. There will be no Jalen Hurts in this one.
speaker-3 (44:05)
Is this a trap game though for the Panthers somehow? I don't know. I'm gonna take them, but I this one just feels weird. Like everything looks like it's Carolina. Coming Philly.
speaker-0 (44:18)
Coming off the bye.
speaker-3 (44:20)
Yeah, I'll I'll take the Panthers. But I don't think they'll I I think it's gonna be still pretty close.
speaker-0 (44:26)
Yeah, three and a half feels a little big. I feel like this is a field goal game. maybe Eagles backdoor cover, pull within three late. gimme the Panthers, but tease look maybe just consider the Eagles plus three and a half. Steelers, Bucks in Tampa, Pittsburgh two and a half point favorites. Again, the the col the win over the Colts was one of those they they did it last year. They beat us earlier in the year.
You know, it's it they're gonna get to their nine or ten wins. Bucks coming off a big Thursday night win after a long week. I don't know. This one this is kind of a tough one to pick, because I feel like Rodgers will melt a little bit in Tampa.
speaker-3 (45:09)
Yeah, I'm gonna go with the Bucks. Steelers, this could be a Mike anti-Mike Tomlin game. Yeah. That's all these games are.
speaker-0 (45:15)
They're a road favorite?
speaker-3 (45:17)
Yeah, Steelers are just so worthless and overrated. doesn't matter what they do. I'm gonna take the Bucks to get a home win. They don't have one yet.
speaker-0 (45:26)
Cardinals, Rams, LA, twelve and a half point favorites over the Cardinals. If you want to take a bet in this game, take Cardinals first drive touchdown. They will definitely score on the first drive. That is a Cardinals thing. They look really good on the first drive and then bad pretty much the rest of the way. Rams, much needed win here, especially after a tough loss on Monday night football.
Blake Groupie is the new kicker. They did cut Harrison Meavis, who I think that ball was going to be missed anyways. I'm on the the kick that was blocked. I think he missed it. I think if he would have kicked it the right direction, it wouldn't have been blocked. But he kicked it into the hands. So, but the Rams, they just feel like the Dodgers a little bit. Like they're going to be there late in at least late January, but they just got to get in. And they will get in. but they'll be three and three.
speaker-3 (46:23)
But but I own poor LA they need the they need the Rams now after the Dodge.
speaker-0 (46:27)
They do.
speaker-3 (46:29)
I'll
speaker-0 (46:29)
So sad.
speaker-3 (46:31)
take the Rams to crush Arizona and they just this is a a ticked off kind of game. Thicker kicker's gone, so yeah, I'll take LA.
speaker-0 (46:42)
Chiefs, Chargers in Kansas City. The Chargers well, the Chiefs are seven half points. The Chargers will drop to and six.
speaker-3 (46:52)
Yeah.
speaker-0 (46:53)
I th I completely a hundred percent believe that the Chiefs will not have Rasheed Rice in this game. He is out. But man, what just how do you live with yourself if you're the Chargers? How do you live with yourself if you're a Chargers fan?
I did see Ocho Cinco and Shannon Sharp on their podcast talking about Madison Beer, Justin Herbert's fiance, and them understanding why he's losing so much why he's losing so much. He's very distracted. but Chargers just stink. I love to see it.
speaker-3 (47:33)
They do, and then finally embracing what the franchise really is, soft and in need of a a complete overhaul. it's been a little while since they've been this bad though, like truly this bad. But that's when the NFL wants you to believe that it's gonna be this easy. Now the Chiefs I think are gonna win this game. But this ha with Rasheed Rice out and the desperation of the Chargers.
feel like this is gonna be a close game. This is gonna be one of those like Mahomes pulls one out for no real reason and it'll just piss you off that the Chiefs won this game. Right? Cause like in a way, I mean you'd you'd rather the Chiefs just win thirty one seven and we're like, no, you know, the Chiefs are actually really good and the Chargers sting. Never works out that way. You know? This could be like one of those twenty twenty four games where the Chiefs were winning every game by like two to
five points and it just didn't make any sense. And you know, it it it took until the Eagles Super Bowl for the, you know, for them to really be exposed. I you know, it's just we're it's easy to have recency bias. Like the Chiefs are just this good, the c Chargers are just this bad. And it's never quite that. So I actually like the Chargers to cover and then lose in Charger fashion late.
speaker-0 (48:47)
what when do the Chargers just clean house? Cause there's no way if this continues, I mean, there's just no way that they stick with with Harbaugh through this all. They have the Chiefs, the Rams, the Texans, the Ravens, and then finally they get the Jets. But then after that they see the Patriots. I mean, I I see one win right now based on this team. I don't even think they can beat the Texans.
speaker-3 (49:14)
no, no. The the Chargers aren't they're bad, but they're not it's not gonna be as ugly. I know they're 0 and five and it's easy to say they're gonna be like two and fifteen.
There are there's still a few win winnable games in the schedule. The Florida teams, they play Tampa and Miami. They get the Jets, Houston, you know, and you know there'll be a there you know there will be an upset win in there. It's just the NFL, right? Maybe it's the last game at Denver and the resting guys, whatever. So with the record itself, and it's not even that relevant, right? Unless it's and seventeen, or they do what they did in 2000, they one and fifteen and and they kept their head coach after that. They actually kept their head coach.
They need they need to clean house, but just how much house is gonna clean and does that include Herbert too? I don't know.
speaker-0 (50:02)
I think you need to go and get a shit ton of picks.
I think you just completely destroy this thing. Blow the whole thing up. Get rid of the GM, get rid of the head coach. Herbert is Herbert's good. Herbert's not great. I just don't I mean, what have we really seen from Justin Herbert where we think this guy is great? This guy is a great quarterback who can lead the team to whatever.
Wha whatever your definition of success is for the Chargers, an AFC championship appearance, maybe an AFC title. I don't see him doing that.
I would rather just restart it. Start it all. I mean I I'll pull up their roster real quick just to see who they have here. I mean, Herbert, obviously you can get I don't know, can you get a first round pick for Herbert? I think you can get a first round pick for Herbert.
No. Second second second round pick. Amarian Hampton.
Good running back. looking here. MVS. McConkey. McConkey, very good. Good receiver. Quentin Johnston, good receiver. I mean you can get a lot of you can get a lot here. Joe Alt, who is, I believe he's is he hurt this year? See, I have no care. I have no care about the Chargers, so I have no clue what's going on in their with their injuries. Tier Tart.
Bud Depree, Khalil Mack, who's you know, get I mean, he's he's 35. Okay, I was gonna say I was looking at a different age. I thought it's a twenty-six. I was like, there's no way this guy's twenty-six. you can get a lot. I think you just blow this whole thing up. There's no re they should just be bad for the next three years. Three three years of really bad charger football and just embracing the tank. But I don't know. Teams like they just maybe they have too much pride. I don't know.
Bills Raiders, Buffalo, four and a half point favorites in Vegas. The Raiders they're coming off a butt whoopin. We did see a little bit of Fernando Mendoza against the Patriots. but they did show up against the Chiefs. So no reason to not believe in the Raiders to at least keep this one close. the but this feels like a game the Bills win.
speaker-3 (52:21)
It's a tough one. This does scream trap, you know, coming back off that ugly performance and tough loss at home. I actually think the Raiders are gonna keep it close enough to cover. I don't know why. Just yeah.
speaker-0 (52:34)
How different does this Bills team feel? I I feel like they feel like the exact same team as they've been for years.
speaker-3 (52:40)
This is the Brewers from twenty five to twenty six. This is the Bills from twenty five to twenty five. It's like there there doesn't feel like anything, you know, it feels like Josh Allen has to be Superman to win.
speaker-0 (52:53)
Yeah, the the fr I will say the front seven on defense has been better, but the secondary has been just not good. and yeah, Josh Allen on offense really has to be Superman. And that's the I mean James Cook now has a a real fumbling problem that should be addressed. in in the Buffalo locker room. And that just that to me screams we're gonna see this in the playoffs. This is gonna like we're gonna see a big James Cook fumble in a big moment.
in the playoffs. And the big question is gonna be can Josh Allen be Superman and overcome that? And in years past he he has not been able to be Superman to reach, you know, the ultimate goal that that everyone is expecting. Cowboys Packers, Green Bay. Green Green Bay is one and a half point favorites on Sunday night football. That's it.
speaker-3 (53:45)
I know Parsons isn't playing, but God da less stinks. They just
speaker-0 (53:52)
I know, but the offense I don't I don't know. Green Bay stinks too. Green Bay stinks. I I would have thought Green Bay or Dallas should have been favorites in this game.
speaker-3 (54:03)
Yeah.
speaker-0 (54:05)
Just considering the offense. The defense is really bad, but the offense.
speaker-3 (54:08)
I mean, I just I don't know. Love's numbers are pretty good. I mean it's it's easy to think about those first three games for Green Bay, but they look they look better. I I I don't think they stink. I mean, the matchup predictor on ESPN has Dallas at almost fifty-two percent, which is kinda kinda wild. They played to a forty-forty tie last year. I think it's gonna be lower scoring than that.
speaker-0 (54:33)
Was that opening week? Was that week?
speaker-3 (54:35)
Well
that was like week four, I think.
speaker-0 (54:39)
I mean, I I'm looking at at the I'm looking at the wins here for Green Bay. They beat the Jets twenty to seventeen in that disgusting game. Then they beat the Bucs seventeen fourteen. That that was a horrible game too. And then this week the Bears, I mean, that was what can you say about the Bears right now? You know, you don't have your quarterback. I think you were kind of expecting some sort of letdown spot.
speaker-3 (55:05)
We got two cornerbacks questionable for Dallas and the linebacker. So and I don't know. I I just I'm still going with Green Bay. Both of these teams are have lost. I think they're a combined 0-3 in prime time this year. Right? Dallas lost to the Giants and the Bucks. The Packers got clobbered by Atlanta.
speaker-0 (55:30)
Somebody has to win, right?
speaker-3 (55:32)
Maybe it'll be another tie.
speaker-0 (55:33)
That'll be great. Give me another 40-40 tie. Yeah.
speaker-3 (55:36)
Yeah, twenty twenty.
speaker-0 (55:38)
20-20. I'm gonna take Dallas. I really like Dallas in this spot. I hate that I like Dallas, but I do. And then the Commanders and the 49ers. Commanders had just stupid tie. A really stupid tie that
speaker-3 (55:53)
Yeah.
speaker-0 (55:54)
how how long does Dan Quinn have? It doesn't feel like he has much longer.
speaker-3 (55:59)
I mean, I don't think he's completely on the hot seat. But yeah, yeah, it's that doesn't look great. I mean again with Jaden Daniels situation, it's it's you get a little bit of that, you know, like the Todd Bowles with with Baker.
It was a very stupid tie, like you said. A very, very stupid tie. and Quinn himself said it looked or felt like a loss, which we said that too.
speaker-0 (56:30)
I don't really
think you can blame him for that 'cause that was a clear Jaden Daniels lack of awareness. It was I thought.
speaker-3 (56:38)
Yeah, but I mean again, you know, lack of awareness at for anybody still falls back on the coach. And these it also overlooked the fact that that you know they blew a 14 point lead. And I know I said that the thing about, you know, Daniels. I know he's playing, but I'm saying, you know, pass because the game. But and he maybe he's still not a hundred percent, but he he had a thirty-eight yard and a twenty six yard touchdown run last year, last week. It like he had a hundred
Three on the ground. It's not like the commanders don't have the the foundation to have a good offense, but they didn't hold the lead. I just like San Francisco. Man, they have they have what like the Seahawks. It feels like 2025 Seahawks type mojo that the 49ers have right now.
Like they're they're unbeaten and they've beaten good teams. Like they're not like, just cupcake schedule. They hammer the Rams over in Australia. They come back and beat Seattle. Yeah, maybe those teams are down a little bit right now, sure. But it it just feels like the 49ers are are flexing, you know, a little bit and and Purdy's playing great football. They beat Denver, right? I mean, yeah, Miami, Arizona, fine. But
They're healthy. As long it it for me, it's like always about health for the Niners. If they're healthy, yeah, I I like them in this spot. I like them to cover the points.
speaker-0 (58:06)
Yeah, Mike Evans also been play I think he was playing through a rib injury on Sunday too. and he's cle like clearly the addition of him has has created a new dynamic in this forty niner offense. Party is thirteen thirteen touchdowns, two interceptions. He's been surgical, he's been great. I still think I'm still rolling with him as my MVP pick right now. He looks like the NFL MVP.
There I there's no one else out there that really stands close to him through the first five games in terms of of overall I think impact as a quarterback and as a passer. And he's just reliable. That's what you're looking for with this Rams team is a reliable quarterback. so he feels like the guy. Sam Fran, seven and a half at home on this Monday night. And
I kinda like San Fran. I like the points.
speaker-3 (59:05)
yeah, I do too. I do too.
speaker-0 (59:07)
Maybe again, maybe like this could be a backdoor cover for the Commanders, but I could almost see a Sam Fran backdoor cover. You know, they they score like a t a garbage time touchdown late. I guess that wouldn't really be a garbage time touchdown, but may I I could see them maybe the commanders keep it close, but then the Niners score with like five minutes left and just put the hammer down on defense. and then maybe score another, you know, with like a minute to go or something like that.
tha they're gonna put the hammer down.
speaker-3 (59:38)
Yeah, Niners defense this year has been pretty good. I know Seattle got twenty-nine, but the they had, you know, seven against the Rams. They gave up thirteen against Miami, fourteen against Denver. So that's been a big part of it too.
speaker-0 (59:50)
Yeah. All right. Well, I think that's a good spot to wrap up. we're gonna move in to the next segment. The Baltimore Ravens somehow survive against maybe the greatest primetime team of all time in the Atlanta Falcons. no, I mean this this felt like again another anti-harbaugh game, right? Like another close one against a pretty good team. I think we can say that Atlanta was pretty good. They were coming in real hot.
obviously having Tua in the game does help at the end there. Kyle Hamilton even even knew it. he was saying, man, they got Tua in the game. I'm gonna go get one. but what what are the reactions here? Well it's a four and one Ravens team with with no Lamar Jackson.
speaker-3 (1:00:36)
Yeah, I I like it. I mean, there's still some questionable stuff and and they've kinda gotten by. There was still a little bit of I thought little bit of clock mismanagement at the end of the first half that the Ravens were able to to get by with. and still got a field goal. You know, they had an opportunity I thought with with a couple of timeouts left that they could have run Henry at if nothing else, you know.
Either he breaks one or you get a little closer on the field goal and they they kinda played it the same way they did in that last game against Pittsburgh last year. and then they had a a false start.
It it knelt down and made it a fifty-one yard field goal. Now, fortunately, Lu hit the field goal before the half. He's been great this year, but it's still those kind of things and some penalties and you know, but I I just thought Huntley played great. I mean, forgetting even the numbers, which were solid, it was just so under control that good decision making. He put the throws low when he needed to, you know.
Couple throwaways, just a couple times taking the sack. Sometimes those are the best plays that a quarterback can make, not trying to force too much. It wasn't Henry's best game, but Justice Hill had, you know, a few big runs. I Huntley had the quarterback sneak where he just kept going. Like he just didn't stop. He just kept running, which was pretty I don't know that I've ever seen that. overcame a couple of drops by Mark Andrews, which is becoming an unfortunate thing.
that one of the you know, Hipner, the tight end was out. I I just felt like like obviously not gonna not play Lamar, but it just seems like they they came together and played that you know, in that that close game fundamentals mode that they need to when Lamar's in there. I just I just love having Huntley as a backup. I really do.
speaker-0 (1:02:25)
Yeah, it it feels a little bit like the Drew Locke situation kind of emerging itself in Seattle right now. we're recording this Friday afternoon, so we did see Sam Darnold struggle. I I bet it's the I think it is the the mental aspect of maybe w you know, we can't lean on Huntley like we lean on Lamar. so for some reason these guys are just able to play a little bit more in sync when it is Tyler Huntley in there.
I don't know how sustainable that is. you know, I mean you you can't there's no there's no reasonable reason to to sit Lamar Jackson over Tyler Huntley. I mean, you play the best guys on your roster. but I think just being able to win like this, it it again, it shows this is not John Harbaugh's Ravens. You know, I I think you guys lose this game. you know, you let Tua maybe piece you up down the field in overtime.
Rather than, you know, seeing Kyle Hamilton just jump all over an interception. He was he was ready to go home. He He said he didn't get paid for overtime, but apparently the NFL actually does pay for overtime games. They give like a little bit of an extra boost if you play an overtime game. so Tyler Huntley or Kyle Hamilton, I think you need to figure out your your contract situation. Maybe he's not getting overtime. Maybe that's the
speaker-3 (1:03:52)
Did I did hear that quote. I didn't think much of it. But yeah, you know, he went down with an injury. So didn't look good there for a minute in the in I think the second half of the game and comes back, makes the pick, you know, to 'cause I thought, you know, Penix they they were able to expose a little bit of that Ravens defense, a lot of like, you know, seam passes, out passes that you know, out patterns that got completed. You know, Drake London had a big game. There were times when the secondary didn't look
c comfortable covering those receivers. You know, Dotson had a big play. Pitts was able to find some space. But they came through in the red zone. They did. They've done that this year. You know, they did it against Dallas. They did it here against Atlanta. Like a little bit of that bend but don't break mentality that maybe has eluded them in years past, right? You know, buckled down. Also forgot very hardball like Minter went for two.
I know they were down to, and I know it looked like, well, obviously you go for the tie. No, it was it was midway through the third quarter chasing points, and sure enough, of course, they missed it.
Atlanta gets two field goals, and then the Ravens were in a position where they had to get a two-point conversion at the end of the game, as opposed to, hey, 17-16, then it's 23-16, you kick the extra point, or even go for the win in that scenario. But so again, like I said, they got away with a few things that were not, you know, it's easier to forget those things. But yeah, just defensively, you know, not perfect, but they they did a good job against the run, you know, for the most part. I mean, Robinson had five yards of carry.
But you know, thirty eight of those came on one run. So sixteen for forty eight. You take that out, you know, three yards a carry against one of the best running backs in the league. You know, they they had some tackles for losses. They they gave their pass defense a chance. Now they did give up a few third and longs, but yeah, it was a gritty win a against a solid team.
You know, and and finding a way to win these games. I love this. Doing it with a backup quarterback, three and on the road this year, you know, that's not something to be taken lightly. They'll be on the road again this week, in the division. So, you know, getting tested here early
speaker-0 (1:05:59)
Without
Lamar as well, they just officially announced that.
speaker-3 (1:06:02)
Yeah.
And and again to to the point, he's not gonna replace Lamar, but you now have the luxury of giving Lamar some rest, you know? Yeah. You don't have to rush him back. I mean you have Cleveland this week, then you got Cincinnati, Buffalo, and Jacksonville coming after that. So maybe that's you know, let's let's give him the week off. Yeah, maybe you lose the game to Cleveland, I don't know, but even so, you come into that stretch four and two, you still it's still a good start. Anybody would take that after six games to be four and two, five and one's a bonus.
but I think that's now Minter has that luxury of saying I don't have to push Lamar if he's not a hundred percent.
speaker-0 (1:06:39)
Yeah, I think and then one of the things you you did briefly mention it, but Mark Andrews. he was he was influential in a thirteen point Atlanta swing. just I mean it's it's really hard to ignore at this point. every Ravens fan that I interact with here just has very not nice things to say about Mark Andrews. I mean you know, I I feel like I haven't really
Ever heard many great things regarding Mark Andrews and then they extended him for some reason. I I'm just really not seeing the the benefit of Mark Andrews in the starting lineup at this point. he just seems to be at the maybe a below average. I mean it maybe not below average, but it feels like his mistakes are more impactful than a lot of tight ends in the league. And you know, I
That's just gonna have to be a major issue that the Ravens have to watch out for over the next coming weeks. Because if you, you know, you said you have Buffalo Jacksonville and then who was the other one? Since
speaker-3 (1:07:46)
No, Cincinnati, Buffalo, then Jack.
speaker-0 (1:07:48)
I Buffalo Jacksonville, that's a that's a gauntlet right there. That's gonna test the team as a whole and say, you know, who who are we? Who is this team? Can we really survive in these big moments? And if you have a guy like Mark Andrews who
Can't hold on to the football. I mean, he's dropping touchdowns, he's fumbling. I what what are you gonna say?
speaker-3 (1:08:09)
Well,
I you know, ev it it the s what stands out obviously is the the playoff game against Buffalo, right? He had the fumble and then the drop two point conversion. He didn't lose a fumble last year. He had one fumble, he didn't lose one last year. He didn't have a single fumble at all in twenty twenty four. His numbers are still pretty good. He's played in every game since the start of the twenty four season. Remember he missed time in twenty three, then came back for the AFC championship game. Like I
It's unfortunate that the mistakes have happened when they've happened, but this isn't like you know, I I think it's just getting catastrophized a little bit more than it should. You know, I'd be more worried, if anything, just keeping an eye on what you know, what his production actually is. This year, just, you know, twenty-two catches in five games, on thirty targets, you know, eight yards a catch, he has a touchdown. Like it's not it for me, it's just can he give more production? Even if you have to live with an occasional
Bad play. again, you know, that I think they they need a little more out of Andrews, but at the same time, Huntley's been in there and we know he's got a pretty good rapport with Lamar. He's just gotta, you know, figure out how to how to cut down on a few of those drops and mistakes. But, you know, overall, if you look at his career, this is his ninth year, he was a third-round pick, and he's 31. It's not I don't know reasonably just how much you can even expect from him.
speaker-0 (1:09:32)
Yeah. All right. Well that's a that's a good good perspective on that. and then the other one I did want to bring up was the the third down, especially third down and long defense. you did see the defense give up a few big plays on third and long where, you know, I mean Super Bowl defenses you're not giving up big plays at at that time. That's just something that has to be cleaned up. I I think that's an early season thing though. I did not look at the penalty stats. How how were the penalty stats?
This week.
That's a lot bet that is a lot better than than it's been.
speaker-3 (1:10:05)
You know, keeping keeping penalties down. You almost almost would have been like understanding if there were a few more defensive penalties, the way that yeah they were getting I don't want to say carved up, but the way that they were giving up some of those big plays. Like you said, it's the third and longs. you know, it like to London, there was a twenty three yard one to to branch.
You know, there when it was twenty three to fifteen, they picked up twenty-three yards. Yeah, that's and that's always kind of a it can be a back breaking thing for a defense. You know, it's giving up third downs is one thing. It's a third and four, third and six, but third and tens, third and twelves, that's that's problematic. Because it's not just while you're, you know, you're exposed, but then, you know, what does that do mentally to a defense? so, you know, but the Ravens stuck with it. They stuck with it.
You know, again, haven't like their wins haven't been over any elite teams by any means, you know, Colts, Cowboys, Titans, Falcons. But you always will take four and one in the NFL, especially when you've played, you know, a game and a half with a backup quarterback.
speaker-0 (1:11:14)
Yeah. the the Falcons were nine of seventeen on third down in total this game.
speaker-3 (1:11:22)
That's not gonna complain. You
can't be giving up more than half the third downs.
speaker-0 (1:11:25)
But the Ravens were eight for fifteen. So
speaker-3 (1:11:29)
Sure. You like me? Yes.
speaker-0 (1:11:30)
Jump forward a little bit, I guess, right? Yes.
All right. Ravens, Browns without Lamar Jackson this weekend. what are we thinking?
speaker-3 (1:11:41)
This is a this is a tough one. This is the Ravens first division game of the twenty sixth season. And you know, you're going on the road, obviously, you know.
speaker-0 (1:11:51)
Three point favourites as well on the
speaker-3 (1:11:54)
Yeah, yeah. And with i it's a little dangerous. It's a little dangerous, you know, but I think you're seeing the Browns come back to earth here a little bit these last few weeks and they played in some sloppy weather last week and Watson was only fifteen for thirty three for a buck fifty five. And you know, Browns got off to to such a nice start. I don't think anybody could be too you know, expect too much from Cleveland and you know
Was last week's game excusable. Maybe. Maybe. but this is tough. I mean, division games on the road with backup quarterbacks. It's always it can always be a tricky thing. keep in mind, you know, overall, and the Browns were up twenty-one ten at the half on Pittsburgh a couple weeks ago. since then, in six quarters, they've only scored eighteen points. So again, there's an opportunity for this Ravens defense, which, you know, gave up.
Some big plays, like we said, third and longs, to to maybe capitalize on a situation where, you know, maybe Watson is coming back to what we had thought he was gonna be. You know, Browns maybe playing a little bit over their heads as well. But yeah, it's a it's a tough spot. I I could certainly see the Ravens going in and winning, but it also wouldn't shock me if the Browns pulled off the upset.
But I just I think there's some good mojo right now for the Ravens. I really do. I I think they can they can build on this win. This is one of those where it wasn't like, you know, they played really bad and got lucky. I I thought this was like a a solid win that you could build on. So I I do actually feel somewhat confident about this game. You know, I don't know if I like the spread. I don't know if I like being favored. You know how that works, but
speaker-0 (1:13:42)
Yeah.
speaker-3 (1:13:42)
but I do feel pretty good.
speaker-0 (1:13:44)
All right, so Baltimore minus three, who you taking? And score prediction.
speaker-3 (1:13:49)
Oof, I feel like it's gonna be low scoring. You know,
it's it's dangerous to do this. I begrudgingly want to take the Ravens. Like I
speaker-0 (1:13:59)
Taking the Ravens.
speaker-3 (1:14:01)
know I shouldn't. I really shouldn't. But you know, with with this is one you can't afford to treat like a trap game because I know you got those three big ones coming up, and I think the Ravens sense that they gotta get this one. I'm gonna say twenty three seventeen Ravens.
speaker-0 (1:14:16)
I'm gonna take Cleveland here. I don't think there's gonna be an increase in points. I feel like maybe Tyler Huntley and the Ravens come back down to earth a little bit with this offense. And this is a game I think you can lose this game and be fine. You can be perfectly fine and lose this game. But it's if you lose here, it's a good kick in the ass. And you say, Okay, Lamar's coming back, we're ready to go.
I'm gonna say eighteen fourteen Browns. Real weird score. Gross game. It's gonna be caught where we have a little bit of a cold front coming in through Baltimore at least. I don't know what it's gonna be in Cleveland. but and Cleveland's rocking right now. The city's rocking. You got the ALCS going through there this weekend. I'm gonna take the Browns.
speaker-3 (1:15:05)
They could have a pennant potentially wrapped up by then if they win the next two. By the way, I just looked it up. Only five 18-14 games in NFL history. The Colts in 09 played the last one. They beat San Francisco. So.
speaker-0 (1:15:16)
In nine. Who knows? Trying to think. That was a Super Bowl we
speaker-3 (1:15:19)
Quasi perfect season.
speaker-0 (1:15:22)
Yes. Yeah. Almost. Yeah. All right. Well I think that's a good spot to wrap up, wrap up the segment. Let's move in to the next one.
Alright, welcome back to the show that was inspired by Harambe around two thousand sixteen. not inspired by PTI. I am your host, Alex Boyajan. Caleb, what is your opinion?
speaker-2 (1:15:55)
What is PMT, not PTI?
Whatever. Jim Evans is a Hall of Famer. That's I'm just gonna throw it out there. That's my simple, very subpar ball knowledge take, but it's it's a take. It's not it's gotta be out there.
speaker-1 (1:16:10)
Should have been
speaker-2 (1:16:11)
He's not a Hall of Famer. He's one of the one of the greatest center fielders of all time, both defensively and offensively. he's a seventy five four hundred homers.
speaker-0 (1:16:22)
Did he pitch? Because apparently, according to these Dodger fans, you have to pitch to be considered good now. Yeah.
speaker-2 (1:16:31)
No, that doesn't have a whole lot.
speaker-0 (1:16:33)
Why
didn't he pitch, Caleb? Why didn't he pitch, Caleb?
speaker-1 (1:16:36)
Yeah,
what is
speaker-2 (1:16:37)
Because
he was busy winning 'cause he was busy winning eight fucking gold gloves in center field in an era where he played with Griffey.
speaker-1 (1:16:45)
He was a significantly better fielder than Griffey, by the way. I don't know why people act like Griffe was like an elite, elite, elite defensive center fielder. He never was. He w
speaker-2 (1:16:59)
He just wasn't on the level of a Jim Edmonds or an Andrew Jones or
No, he wasn't on that level, but I'd say Griffey was an elite center fielder. But I mean Edmonds is probably a top three defensive center fielder of all time. I mean it's hard to it's hard to tell now that we've got analytics that they didn't have back in the the Ty Cobb or the the the I don't know why Ducky Medwick comes to mind days. but I mean Edmonds was he was
a one thirty, one forty, one fifty OPS plus guy every single season of his career, pretty much. he was an all star
speaker-0 (1:17:39)
Okay.
speaker-1 (1:17:39)
He got fucked by the lineup. Didn't he go didn't he get kicked off after the first ballot?
speaker-2 (1:17:47)
He won't
too second. He was he was gone quick. I don't know the exact the percentage, but he was off of it real fast, which to me.
speaker-1 (1:17:54)
Basically, zero sense.
it makes perfect sense because back then was when you could keep your Hall of Fame vote indefinitely for the rest of your life. And like a half of the Hall of Fame voters hadn't actively covered baseball in over thirty years. So there are guys voting on the Hall of Fame that didn't watch much baseball during Jim Edmonds' career. I I think
speaker-0 (1:18:19)
They're
speaker-1 (1:18:24)
Yeah, tell us.
speaker-0 (1:18:25)
treating it like the FBI. Like they're like, people are going to come kill you if you don't vote for a certain guy. Like, are we fucking serious right now? It's not that big of a deal. Be cont confidential.
speaker-1 (1:18:34)
Well the fact that Ken there was
someone who didn't vote for Ken Griffey Jr., there were people who didn't vote for George Brett, Mike Schmidt, all these Nolan Ryan.
They should be executed publicly now that we're doing that. Geez Louise.
speaker-0 (1:18:52)
Yeah.
speaker-2 (1:18:53)
Didn't each euro come up one short?
speaker-1 (1:18:55)
Yeah, it's ridiculous. The only person ever who's unanimous was Mariano Rivera. You're telling me that Mariano Rivera is had like the best Hall of Fame resume of all time over
speaker-2 (1:19:06)
Not anymore. Definitely not anymore.
speaker-1 (1:19:08)
Ridiculous. Talking
speaker-2 (1:19:09)
But I mean
speaker-1 (1:19:10)
about Mariana Rivera in our all time walk off walk off strategy. Right
speaker-2 (1:19:13)
playoff one left.
speaker-1 (1:19:15)
we are. What was
speaker-0 (1:19:17)
What was Jeter's percentage?
speaker-1 (1:19:18)
He missed like four or five.
speaker-2 (1:19:20)
He
missed by no, I think it was one or two.
speaker-1 (1:19:22)
That's
speaker-0 (1:19:25)
That's crazy.
speaker-2 (1:19:26)
It would have been me if I had a vote. I would have been the one guy.
speaker-1 (1:19:28)
Yeah,
so
speaker-0 (1:19:29)
Listen, that's a little high that's high. Like Derek Jeter, very good. Definitely a Hall of Famer. That's pretty hot.
speaker-1 (1:19:36)
Definitely a first ballot unanimous Hall of Famer.
speaker-2 (1:19:39)
If Albert Bujols isn't unanimous
speaker-1 (1:19:42)
Well now now that they fixed
speaker-2 (1:19:43)
Up and down.
speaker-1 (1:19:44)
Now that they started cleaning out the voters, he should be unanimous because I think in order to have a vote you had to have actively covered the sport while the players who were being voted upon were playing the sport. Like if you've been retired for fifteen years as a journalist, you shouldn't have a fucking vote. When you officially retire, your vote should be gone.
speaker-0 (1:20:06)
All right, I'm I'm gonna read off the names that are below Derek Jeter. Derek Jeter got in with a ninety-nine point seven five. He missed by one vote. three hundred and ninety six out of three hundred and ninety seven total votes. each row they had the same, but each row is technically below him.
speaker-1 (1:20:28)
Each roll is the most unanimous unanimous guy of my lifetime. I don't know how Griffy.
speaker-0 (1:20:34)
Tom Seaver, Nolan Ryan, Cal Ripkin Jr. Ty Cobb. I know you don't like him, John. George Brett. Hank Aaron. Hank Aaron.
speaker-1 (1:20:44)
Hank
Aaron not unanimous. I mean only probably the greatest resume in baseball history.
speaker-0 (1:20:49)
Tony Gwynn, Randy Johnson, Greg Maddox, Chipper Jones, Mike Schmidt, Johnny Bench, Steve Carlton, Babe Ruth was below Derek Jeter. That's just insane to me. That is an absolute crazy statistic that Derek Jeter is higher than all those names.
speaker-2 (1:21:10)
I think it speaks more to the voting than it does to Jeter. I mean every guy you know
speaker-0 (1:21:15)
Yeah,
no, it's it's a problem with the voting. I think it's
speaker-2 (1:21:17)
Should have been unanimous.
speaker-1 (1:21:19)
Stay the face and say that George Brett shouldn't be in first ballot.
speaker-2 (1:21:24)
Even the very misunderstood Ty Cobb should have been unanimous.
speaker-1 (1:21:27)
Very
misunderstood.
Mr I won't share a a dugout with a player in the All Star game 'cause I think he looks black.
speaker-2 (1:21:35)
No, all that all that raises
speaker-0 (1:21:36)
Is that what you said?
speaker-1 (1:21:37)
No,
speaker-0 (1:21:40)
No, that's what that's what that's what John said.
speaker-2 (1:21:42)
Tweet I actually tweeted that the other day.
speaker-1 (1:21:43)
But
I don't know.
speaker-2 (1:21:46)
All the Ty Cobb
No, all the Ty Cobb stuff was was fictional. Like he was not a I mean, he was a bad guy, but he was not a a racist guy. It was a hit piece written by some dude in the 30s. But Ty Cobb was a big he was a big advocate of the Negro Leagues. He threw out the first pitch in the inaugural game. Ty Cobb wasn't I don't From what I've seen that it's actually factual, he was not a
racist. He was just not a very good
speaker-1 (1:22:16)
Dude. Didn't he jump out of the dugout to fight someone in the stand and then got
speaker-2 (1:22:23)
He'd beat the shit out of fans all the time. He picked up a homeless kid and rubbed his head for good luck and carried him on the road and stuff, but bad guy, but
speaker-0 (1:22:31)
Carried
him on the road. Like he just kidding.
speaker-2 (1:22:34)
That's a real
speaker-1 (1:22:36)
Mm-hmm.
speaker-2 (1:22:40)
story.
speaker-1 (1:22:41)
Ozzie Osborne hired a midget to bring on the plane with him 'cause he thought it'd be fun and he asked the airline crew, Can I just put him in the overhead bin? I didn't know I had to buy a seat for it.
speaker-0 (1:22:53)
It?
speaker-1 (1:22:55)
Like barely even a person, dude. I'm just gonna put him in the overhead, but he's only half a guy. They wouldn't offer me a half price ticket. That was in like his biography, and I was reading it. I was like, yo, that is fucking awful. And
speaker-0 (1:23:07)
That was in his biography?
speaker-1 (1:23:08)
then they closed out it was in like the Rolling Stone big piece on him. and then they're like, also he didn't bite the head off a bat. That's not true. It's like, but the the little
speaker-0 (1:23:19)
Dumping a
speaker-1 (1:23:20)
guy the little person thing is?
Yeah, that's true, but he didn't abuse animals.
speaker-0 (1:23:25)
That's fucked up.
speaker-1 (1:23:26)
Only small people.
John. My take. Kenny Lofton should be the freaking Hall of Fame. my opinion is that Kenny Lofton should be the goddamn Hall of Fame. Led the league in war, led the league in stolen bases five times, led the league in hits, led the league in triples, sixty-eight point four war. I'm just kidding. That's not actually my opinion. I just want to piggyback off Caleb because if Jim Edmonds is on the Hall of Fame, then Kenny Lofton should go in just before him. just
A victim of the steroid era. my opinion, and you guys who are watching this, you're on the other side of the screen, don't lie to yourself. If your team signed every single superstar free agent and traded for Scoobaul and signed Snell, you would be over the moon ecstatic. Can we all agree on that?
speaker-0 (1:24:18)
I don't know if that's a take, but yeah, I I would agree.
speaker-2 (1:24:20)
But
speaker-1 (1:24:21)
I've heard people say on social media, like, wouldn't you love it if your team did that? No, I respect the game. Bullshit. If the Royals signed Blake Snell, Yamamoto, Freddie Freeman, Mookie Betts in their back when they were signed, I would have been thrilled. And if we won five in a row, I wouldn't have cared. Okay. But people ridicule the Dodgers fans for saying, like, you hate baseball. No, they really like winning. and by the way, they spend more of their
revenue on players by a lot than any everybody else in the league on a pure percentage basis. Yes, they make more money, but there are teams that are profiting more than the Dodgers by quite a bit on their team while the Dodgers are reinvesting into their franchise. I don't love it, but I respect it and I understand it.
speaker-0 (1:25:10)
Do you also like root for 3M? 3M? Are you happy for 3M and and Exxon when they make like a billion dollars? Stock goes up crazy?
speaker-1 (1:25:18)
Okay, let me say this. I will
speaker-0 (1:25:22)
He definitely does that. He's like, let's go.
speaker-1 (1:25:24)
I will always bribe and project
speaker-2 (1:25:27)
Go!
speaker-1 (1:25:28)
unless it's 3M. I actually thought about that yesterday as I was hanging up posters in my room with double stick tape. I'm like, the 3M double stick tape is far superior to the store brand. no, I'm not rooting for the Dodgers. I am going to be thrilled when Milwaukee wipes the floor with them. However, let's be fucking real. If your team was spending like the Dodgers do, you would be thrilled.
Caleb, if the Dodgers sign, let's say, or the Red Sox, I mean, sign Ronald Acuna, Scoobyl this year in free agency, brought in Mason Miller via trade. Would you be like, That's enough? Stop, stop. We don't need Mason Miller. We're too good already. We cannot get any more good players.
speaker-2 (1:26:13)
Yeah, I'm I think I would be quite thrilled with those acquisitions.
speaker-0 (1:26:16)
I mean the the ultimate goal is to win the World Series. Like that's your ultimate goal. And you have to do everything you should you should be doing everything you can. I know there's plenty thirty one other teams out there do not do everything that they can to win it. I'm not saying the players.
speaker-1 (1:26:35)
And the Phillies package for Scooba was nowhere near as good.
speaker-0 (1:26:39)
The organizations do not do everything they can to win. I think that's being a perfectly fair thing to say.
speaker-2 (1:26:47)
Baseball is all about celebrating your own team doing stuff and shitting on every other team for doing literally anything. That's just the nature of the game, the nature of social media now with with baseball.
speaker-1 (1:27:00)
I love it. Caleb loves it. You can find him in about what, about an hour and a half, two hours on Instagram just going crazy.
speaker-2 (1:27:10)
I'd I'd give it about thirty.
speaker-1 (1:27:12)
Yeah,
toxic as well.
speaker-0 (1:27:13)
Twenty
Yeah, about thirty. I have an opinion.
College football just sucks now. It's it's really bad.
speaker-1 (1:27:21)
Not as bad as college basketball.
speaker-0 (1:27:23)
we're we're going to twenty four playoff games. Pat McAfee is is in every single thing. He Pat McAfee's in movies now. He's gonna be in some war movie, he's gonna play a general, and then he's in a kids movie, an animated kids movie coming out with digital.
speaker-1 (1:27:39)
Slurs will he say they have to edit out of the kids' movie.
speaker-0 (1:27:43)
You know, John, you're you're criticizing Pat McAfee, but you pol you just pulled a Pat McAfee not long ago.
speaker-1 (1:27:50)
What I say?
speaker-0 (1:27:51)
You d you faked out your take. You did you did the fake out. Pat McAfee does the fake pick.
speaker-1 (1:27:57)
Damn.
speaker-0 (1:27:59)
I really like today. But I wanna go with the dogs! I wanna go with the dogs. The dumbest thing I've ever seen.
speaker-2 (1:28:11)
Shirt off.
speaker-0 (1:28:13)
Does every single week? You just know you're like, alright, he's gonna do the fake pick. I I think I think college football is now turning into the equivalent of AI slop. I feel like AI has hit college football a lot worse. Just like the it has the vibes of AI slop to me.
speaker-1 (1:28:30)
And I I don't give a fuck.
speaker-0 (1:28:31)
NFL
is still competitive to me. It feels more
And it's I still don't think it's that bad compared to what college football is doing.
speaker-1 (1:28:38)
College
basketball because you only start five guys. I'm a KU fan, always have been. I don't recognize our roster year over year. I'm like, that that bench kid we have, El Marco Jackson. I think he could be a great piece. he transferred to FIU. Okay, this other guy transferred to Alabama. we brought in seven transfer seniors that I'm gonna have seven weeks to get used to.
And then we're in the tournament and you never hear from them again. Every single roster is a complete turnover every year because of the NIL and free transfers. And it's gonna happen to football too. The rosters are just so much bigger that you reta mathematically you retain more players. But we were sold something with the NIL that we didn't get. It was supposed to be with
you can just pay players.
speaker-0 (1:29:33)
The problem is there's no true
there's no true regulation behind it. I mean it's it is like the wild west. and the the NCAA will step in at times to say like, you're actually not worth this. But it's really not, yeah, they they really don't do that much. There needs to be if the NC I mean they it's a total overhaul. The NCAA probably will not exist in football in the next ten years.
speaker-1 (1:29:59)
They have no I mean we've seen it where they say come in and say something and the teams are like fucked no Yeah and they're like what are you gonna do it's like it's like having a weak union. Like they're there, but they're not gonna do anything for you. Yeah. They have no power. No bargaining.
speaker-0 (1:30:16)
Yeah,
I'm I'm sick of McAfee. Sick of just having to see Pat McF he's getting like a Super Bowl stream now. They're gonna do a Super Bowl stream with Pat McAfee. Have they ever listened to the fans one t at one time? Who's I really think they listen to the drunk frat guys. They're like, Kirk Herbstreet brought his dog? He brought his dog to the game?
speaker-1 (1:30:40)
Hey, do not talk about that dog. He is we lost that dog. Do not do not make fun of Kirk Herbstreet's dead dog.
speaker-0 (1:30:49)
I'm talking about his a live dog. he has another one.
speaker-1 (1:30:51)
the able
speaker-0 (1:30:55)
He probably just he probably just had it cloned. I guarantee you he just had it cloned.
speaker-1 (1:31:00)
If someone brings a dog on TV, I support the dog week on TV.
speaker-0 (1:31:04)
No, they're doing too much now. They're selling merch. They're do Peter has Peter has a dog his dog merch, like online.
speaker-1 (1:31:12)
That's too much. Now at that point it's pimping out the dog.
speaker-0 (1:31:15)
Yeah, it doesn't even feel like the dog is in it for the love of the game. The dog used to be in it for the love of the game. He used to just care about being there and and going on the plane with his dad.
speaker-1 (1:31:25)
caring about, you know, winning for the school for the name on the front of the jersey, not the one on the back.
speaker-2 (1:31:30)
Personally
speaker-1 (1:31:31)
Get your fucking
speaker-2 (1:31:32)
I I do I enjoy the Pat McAfee stuff, but I am also a college football casual, so maybe that's who it's catered to.
speaker-1 (1:31:41)
I
don't know. Caleb also supports eugenics, so just remember that.
speaker-0 (1:31:45)
Hale
doesn't know what that is. Don't say that big word.
speaker-2 (1:31:48)
He agreed.
speaker-1 (1:31:49)
Yeah, that
sounds fucking awesome.
speaker-0 (1:31:54)
Like, every kid should be bred to look like Pat McAfee? That sounds pretty cool.
speaker-1 (1:31:59)
This
is pretty happy.
speaker-2 (1:32:00)
I'm he's like five eight, let's not get carried up.
speaker-1 (1:32:04)
Caleb also thinks Pat McAfee is the greatest athlete who's ever lived. So he said punty is fucking hard, first of all.
speaker-2 (1:32:11)
I mean he he's done everything on the football field that you can do on the football field, to be fair.
speaker-0 (1:32:16)
Listen, McAfee was good in in small doses. When he was very
speaker-1 (1:32:22)
Thirty minutes a day.
speaker-0 (1:32:23)
Not even a day. Like I would see some clips of him reacting to games. But with and that's all I needed to see.
speaker-1 (1:32:29)
Now
like when I'm at the gym and they have
speaker-0 (1:32:35)
They
didn't need to do the Pat McAfee show on ESPN. They should have left it on YouTube. That should have been a YouTube show. They that should have never gone to broadcast TV. That's where they fu they're just doing too much and now they're I don't know, they're just catering to the lowest common denominator of of media.
speaker-1 (1:32:51)
The only people who watch fucking cable TV I guess. Drunks? I don't know. I haven't turned on ca I don't have cable in my house. I haven't had it for twelve years.
speaker-0 (1:33:01)
Well,
like if you wanna watch I'm not paying for ESPN plus. I have a friend who has YouTube TV, so I use his thing. That that's what I consider cable nowadays. That is cable in my eyes.
speaker-1 (1:33:12)
But I'm sure shit not putting YouTube TV on to like find the Pat McAfee show for eight consecutive. Caleb,
speaker-0 (1:33:18)
Caleb is
speaker-1 (1:33:20)
how he watches about four to five, six to seven hours. What's the screen a day? No His screen time, his music.
speaker-0 (1:33:23)
Screen time.
speaker-2 (1:33:25)
Just do Instagram posts
speaker-1 (1:33:29)
It's like twenty minutes browsers, fifteen minutes Instagram, nine
speaker-2 (1:33:35)
No.
speaker-1 (1:33:35)
hours of the Pat McAfee.
speaker-0 (1:33:37)
No, it's not fifteen minutes of Instagram because he's gotta argue. He's gotta have time to argue on
speaker-2 (1:33:43)
Yeah,
right.
speaker-1 (1:33:44)
He goes through, says his toxic comments, no reply. Put the phone down.
speaker-0 (1:33:48)
No,
he replies. I've seen him reply. I've seen
speaker-2 (1:33:50)
I've replied.
speaker-0 (1:33:52)
I've seen him reply.
speaker-1 (1:33:53)
The week draft, goddamn it.
speaker-0 (1:33:55)
Yeah, we can draft. Let's move in to the snake draft. Snake draft, the greatest walk-offs in MLB postseason history. congratulations to Caleb for sending his bot farm to vote for himself in the uniform snake draft last hilarious. He doesn't. He's he's just like off camera, he's just like I'm I'm so glad I spent like that thousand dollars to to hire that bot.
speaker-2 (1:34:24)
Doing anything.
speaker-1 (1:34:25)
These
you know that Russian bot farm that was destroyed by a Ukrainian missile is really hampering Caleb's plans to win this draft.
speaker-0 (1:34:33)
Yeah. But he still was able to win. He he contacted China to to handle it. but me and John were tied for second place, so Caleb has prepared a little bit of trivia. I think John's gonna beat me, to be honest. I really do.
speaker-1 (1:34:49)
Should be you.
speaker-0 (1:34:50)
You should. All right, Caleb.
speaker-1 (1:34:52)
He's gonna pick one that only Alex knows. Like
speaker-2 (1:34:54)
No. I I'm I'm kinda going with something fun. I I saw this on an Instagram clip. we're gonna go cl closest to the pin.
speaker-1 (1:35:04)
I knew you were gonna fucking do that. I s I was about to say OPS closest to the pin.
speaker-2 (1:35:08)
No, we're going home runs. I'm gonna keep it a little a little simple. Give me your closest to the pin of the thirty fifth player on the all time home runs list. Closest to the pin wins. Closest to number thirty five.
You get one answer.
speaker-1 (1:35:25)
Get a number.
speaker-2 (1:35:26)
No. You get thirty five. Number thirty five. Yes.
speaker-0 (1:35:30)
What do mean? We're guessing the number. Why would he give us the number of moment?
speaker-1 (1:35:36)
No
speaker-2 (1:35:36)
you're g you're
giving me the player.
speaker-0 (1:35:38)
Wait, yeah I'm getting not the number of home runs, the player.
speaker-2 (1:35:41)
The player closest to number thirty five on the all time list.
speaker-1 (1:35:46)
Santana.
speaker-0 (1:35:47)
It's it's one guest. Do you wanna lock that in? Your hundred percent?
speaker-1 (1:35:50)
'Cause I have no fucking idea I I'm guessing I have No that's too high, that's too high.
speaker-0 (1:35:54)
No you lock it in. Lock it in.
speaker-1 (1:35:56)
Too
speaker-2 (1:35:57)
Dn he didn't say final answer. I'll take it as final answer.
speaker-0 (1:36:00)
This is gonna be this
speaker-1 (1:36:01)
Fuck,
it's not gonna be too high though.
speaker-2 (1:36:03)
Give me final answer to login in.
speaker-1 (1:36:05)
Gotta be in the four hundreds.
Mike Trout.
My trout.
speaker-3 (1:36:09)
shit.
speaker-2 (1:36:10)
I got it. I got it here finally, so we'll lock it Finally.
speaker-0 (1:36:14)
I really have no clue.
No, it can't be him.
speaker-1 (1:36:19)
Yeah. I'm happy with mine. Watch it be Carlos Santana right on the fucking money.
speaker-0 (1:36:24)
Every single I can't think of a single baseball player. No of course whenever I do trivia I can never think of a single player.
speaker-2 (1:36:31)
I'll tell you I'll tell you your pivot was better than Carlos Santana.
speaker-1 (1:36:35)
Same channel was too high.
speaker-2 (1:36:37)
Way too low.
speaker-1 (1:36:39)
Too low? What's Santin at? Three
speaker-2 (1:36:42)
Like three hundred.
speaker-1 (1:36:43)
I thought see, I was thinking I was thinking he was like
speaker-0 (1:36:48)
I did not think he was too high.
speaker-2 (1:36:50)
Santana's one nineteen.
speaker-1 (1:36:52)
Holy shit. Where's Nelson Cruz? 'Cause
speaker-2 (1:36:56)
I'm not gonna tell you that.
speaker-1 (1:36:56)
they're the same people. They're the same person.
speaker-2 (1:36:59)
ca I can, I'm not gonna give any other hints. I feel bad about giving the Santana one already, but
speaker-1 (1:37:04)
Santana's in the three hundreds. Where what was what's his home run number? fuck. I don't care if you help Santana or I don't care if you help Alex out. What is Santana's number?
speaker-2 (1:37:15)
Three thirty five.
speaker-1 (1:37:16)
So it's holy shit, it's gotta be in the mid to high four hundreds.
I was thinking Trout is getting there. I should have said Giancarlo stin
speaker-0 (1:37:24)
I really can't I can't think of anything. Say something. just give me I don't know why 'cause I'm looking at a Red Sox thing, Fisk the final answer. Not it's not even close.
speaker-2 (1:37:37)
I don't even need to look, John One. Fisk is Fisk is number eighty seven with three seventy-six. Strout is number fifty three with four twenty six.
speaker-1 (1:37:46)
Okay, where's Stant was my other choice?
speaker-2 (1:37:49)
Stan was number forty.
speaker-0 (1:37:50)
That's pretty good.
speaker-2 (1:37:51)
Any any other shots at number thirty five? Four hundred and sixty eight home runs. Just for
speaker-0 (1:37:57)
Or sixteen
speaker-2 (1:37:58)
funzies. John already won, but just for fun.
speaker-1 (1:38:01)
Nelson Cruz. No to a little
speaker-2 (1:38:03)
thirty
seven.
speaker-0 (1:38:04)
Tell me? How many?
speaker-1 (1:38:06)
Is
speaker-2 (1:38:07)
Six hundred. Yeah, I think he's six twelve.
speaker-1 (1:38:12)
he really?
Good.
speaker-2 (1:38:14)
tell me yeah, six twelve.
speaker-1 (1:38:16)
Fucking good. So I was I knew
speaker-2 (1:38:19)
One
more hand, switch hitter.
speaker-1 (1:38:22)
Chipper Jones? No, it's not
speaker-2 (1:38:24)
Chip for John.
speaker-1 (1:38:24)
that Chipper Jones. I had Trout safe, 'cause I knew he was over four hundred. Stanton was would have been my next guess.
speaker-2 (1:38:34)
Stands at four fifty.
speaker-1 (1:38:35)
So it's it's four you should have four sixty something.
speaker-2 (1:38:39)
I chip her at four sixty eight.
speaker-1 (1:38:42)
Yeah. Hm. Chipper was never on my mind. But Stanton would have been my next guest
So I if I had gone with Stanton I would have been thir what, thirty eight?
speaker-2 (1:38:51)
Forty. Cruz was thirty seven.
speaker-1 (1:38:54)
see Cruz it was Cruz, Stanton, S Santana and Trout were the guys I went to. Hm. So I picked my worst possible two were my answers.
speaker-2 (1:39:05)
thirty four and thirty six were Carlos Delgado and Dave Winfield. Hi Marla
speaker-1 (1:39:08)
I would have never thought of of
Winfield. I don't think of Winfield as like a big pop guy. And Delgado I think of as like a high OPS guy. I don't think of him as like a massive home run hitter, but he did hit quite a few home runs.
speaker-2 (1:39:24)
Yeah, he's a four hundred guy. Yeah.
speaker-1 (1:39:26)
All right, so where's that put me? I went first. I wanna be f
speaker-0 (1:39:29)
I get no you you finish.
speaker-2 (1:39:31)
First pick now.
speaker-0 (1:39:32)
I'm taking the first pick.
speaker-2 (1:39:34)
Alex, thanks for the first thing.
speaker-1 (1:39:35)
I should I should have said like Bobby Witt Junior.
speaker-0 (1:39:38)
I'm taking the first pick. Well, John, but you got second. So get the first Do you
speaker-1 (1:39:42)
One second. I wanna take Caleb's
speaker-0 (1:39:45)
want the second pick?
speaker-2 (1:39:46)
You're not taking my first pick.
speaker-1 (1:39:48)
I want the yeah, I want the first pick, but I'll take second.
speaker-2 (1:39:51)
No one's taking my pick.
speaker-1 (1:39:52)
I'm taking your pick.
speaker-2 (1:39:54)
I don't think
speaker-1 (1:39:54)
Yeah.
speaker-0 (1:39:56)
The number one pick.
speaker-2 (1:39:57)
It's probably on your list, but
speaker-1 (1:39:59)
No, I know I'm taking your I'm intentionally taking your pick.
speaker-2 (1:40:02)
I don't think you know what it is.
speaker-0 (1:40:04)
I'm gonna take a game seven of the World Series winner, Bill Mazarowski, of Ralph Terry. Is that your pick?
speaker-2 (1:40:15)
That was my pick, yeah.
speaker-1 (1:40:17)
I thought it was gonna be Carlton Fisk.
speaker-0 (1:40:19)
The greatest game ever played, possibly, to win the nineteen sixty World Series. the only home run to win game seven of the World Series. one of the great I mean, that's like as a kid, you just think that when you're playing baseball, you're like, All right, game seven of the World Series. When it bottom of the night
speaker-1 (1:40:38)
two.
speaker-0 (1:40:39)
I was always a down down by three, three and two with you know, hit a grand slam with two outs.
speaker-2 (1:40:46)
That was the clear one one. Game seven walk off home run.
speaker-1 (1:40:50)
A little old for me. I'm gonna take Ozzy Smith's
speaker-0 (1:40:52)
young.
speaker-1 (1:40:55)
Ozzy Smith's home run, nineteen eighty five, game five LCS. Yeah. Go crazy, folks. Go crazy. That's what I think of when I think walk off, I think of yes.
speaker-2 (1:41:05)
I think
Ozzy Ozzy that year didn't hit a single home run against right handed hip pitchers.
speaker-1 (1:41:11)
Yeah,
he had like thirteen career home runs at that point. It's like his fourteenth career home run.
speaker-2 (1:41:17)
I don't know. I was excited to have that as a fourth round pick.
speaker-1 (1:41:20)
I like it.
speaker-2 (1:41:21)
Alright, No, God no. There's so many better ones. I'm gonna take the better home run and the better broadcast call. We will see you tomorrow night.
speaker-1 (1:41:31)
Which one? No, that's not the wrong that's the wrong one. That's the wrong one.
speaker-2 (1:41:35)
Freeze.
speaker-0 (1:41:35)
Two.
speaker-2 (1:41:37)
David Freeze, game six of twenty eleven.
speaker-1 (1:41:40)
Joe Buck copied his dad 'cause he doesn't know how to call games other than what his dad said.
speaker-2 (1:41:44)
Or maybe did a tribute to his late
speaker-0 (1:41:46)
His father, his own father. I think of all you can you can copy your father and it's fine.
speaker-1 (1:41:52)
Did did his father also get addicted to hair plugs? Did you know that? He had a he had to go to therapy. Joe Joe Buck had to go to therapy because he got addicted to hair transplants. He was getting one every off season.
speaker-2 (1:42:06)
Yeah.
speaker-1 (1:42:06)
It is funny.
speaker-2 (1:42:07)
Yeah. David Freeze and then I will take the other walk off home run to win a World Series. Give me Joe Carter in game six in nineteen ninety three.
speaker-1 (1:42:17)
I was one year old, by the way.
speaker-2 (1:42:19)
Touch all, Joe. You'll never hit a bigger home run in your life.
speaker-1 (1:42:23)
I'm gonna take it so that I don't lose it. The Kirk Gibson pinch hit.
speaker-0 (1:42:29)
Yep. Well I mean
speaker-1 (1:42:30)
The electric.
speaker-0 (1:42:33)
All right. Hmm.
Give me give me game four of the ALCS two thousand four David Ortiz. we will see you later tonight. Not tomorrow night.
speaker-2 (1:42:47)
I wasn't gonna make it on the wraparound, I can promise you that.
speaker-1 (1:42:50)
Yeah, I had that one. I was gonna take that one over.
speaker-2 (1:42:52)
That was my next that was my next one.
speaker-0 (1:42:55)
And then who who's next? Who is next? I gotta delete the ones that you got. I'm gonna take Kirby Puckett in ninety one. Game six of the World Series. Tomorrow
speaker-1 (1:43:06)
See you tomorrow night.
speaker-0 (1:43:08)
night. The other tomorrow night. Yes, Kirby Puckett.
speaker-1 (1:43:13)
I don't think I'm gonna win this draft, so I'm gonna have fun. Give me Salvador Perez's walk-off single in the twenty fourteen wild card.
speaker-0 (1:43:21)
I
wanted if I was just gonna have fun and I didn't wanna win, I would take that.
speaker-2 (1:43:25)
Alex got in your head that bad that you thought you couldn't wait till the fifth round for that one?
speaker-1 (1:43:30)
No,
he he said he's gonna take it like the third.
speaker-0 (1:43:33)
I said you would gonna ta you
speaker-1 (1:43:35)
Yeah, but then you said you were gonna take it before me and then you said I was gonna take it with a
speaker-0 (1:43:39)
I
it's in the third I just took Kirby Puckett in the third round.
speaker-1 (1:43:42)
Hey,
if I waited till five you were gonna take it.
speaker-0 (1:43:44)
Dumbass.
speaker-2 (1:43:46)
John is throwing the draft by leaving the downfall of Mariano Rivera in the hands of a Red Sox fan. Luis Gonzalez
speaker-1 (1:43:53)
Gonzalez is a loop single.
speaker-2 (1:43:57)
game seven of the O one World Series. Diamondbacks win it. They're the world champions.
speaker-1 (1:44:02)
I I'm gonna have so much fun on the next one.
speaker-2 (1:44:04)
gonna
pair that with another walk-off single to win the World Series in a game seven. Give me Edgar Renteria in nineteen ninety-seven game seven of the World Series to win it for the Marlins off the Indians.
That's two easy picks.
And now I'm thinking my
speaker-1 (1:44:20)
I'm getting I'm getting
worried I'm getting word that my nine year old just put a metal plate in the microwave. Good job, kid. Had a boy.
What's your next pick, Caleb?
speaker-0 (1:44:29)
You already did, but you took and you're had to read.
speaker-2 (1:44:30)
Gonzalez
and I do
speaker-1 (1:44:32)
God's okay. I'm gonna take the only grand slam ever hit
speaker-2 (1:44:37)
It damn.
speaker-1 (1:44:38)
that didn't count as a grand slam. I'm taking
speaker-2 (1:44:42)
Robin Ventura.
speaker-1 (1:44:43)
Robin Ventura's grand slam single in the 1999 NLCS, bottom of the fifteenth. for those of you that aren't aware, Robin Ventura hit a grand slam. only needed three runs to win, so his team mobbed him on first base.
He touched first. They walked everybody off the field. So in the history books, went down as a single, even though he hit a grand slam. It by the way, would have been the first ever walk-off grand slam in a playoff game had he gone all the way around the bases.
There's a really good one. There's two really good ones left. Three.
speaker-2 (1:45:19)
Yeah I've got two really
speaker-1 (1:45:21)
I've got three.
speaker-2 (1:45:22)
I've got two and a half.
speaker-0 (1:45:23)
I have one let me cross off wildcard salvi off my list here. Wanted
speaker-1 (1:45:32)
Yeah, you can't
speaker-0 (1:45:33)
to get rid of it. Didn't want to look at it anymore.
speaker-1 (1:45:36)
It was an electric hit. I was I had to be at work at six the next morning for inventory. And I went to bed at four in the morning, called my boss at five thirty and said I'm not coming in. I was up all night partying literally by myself.
speaker-0 (1:45:52)
Off a wildcard game.
speaker-1 (1:45:54)
Yeah. It was actually off of it was actually off of Coors Lights.
speaker-0 (1:45:58)
Hell yeah.
speaker-1 (1:45:59)
I told him I
speaker-2 (1:46:00)
Fifteen years old.
speaker-1 (1:46:01)
I couldn't I told him I couldn't safely drive to work because I had not recovered anywhere close to it from the night before.
And then I had a call out three times that year, that series.
speaker-0 (1:46:15)
I'll take O Ordonnez in the A game four of the ALCS. three run walk off shot, ten for two.
speaker-2 (1:46:23)
Up Houston Street.
speaker-0 (1:46:24)
Let me write that down.
speaker-2 (1:46:25)
Yeah, I that was one of my sneaky ones I was hoping to s get in the last round.
speaker-1 (1:46:30)
When I was a child I drew a little city that I wanted to make when I grew up and I had Houston Street as the main street and then I had Chanhoe Park as the park in the city. It was impressive.
speaker-2 (1:46:44)
Great sneaky great broadcast call on that the Ordonias one. The Tigers marched to the World Series as the ball still made.
speaker-1 (1:46:53)
Oregonia is by the way underrated. Is it my pick now?
speaker-2 (1:46:56)
Lovely tomato.
speaker-0 (1:46:58)
No.
speaker-1 (1:46:59)
Okay.
speaker-0 (1:47:01)
I guess I I think I have a pretty good board so far. I I should probably try and finish it off pretty well 'cause there is one Caleb, we probably both love it personally, but it's not
speaker-1 (1:47:13)
I left it. left it for you.
speaker-2 (1:47:14)
Yeah, you know.
speaker-0 (1:47:15)
I'm not
speaker-2 (1:47:16)
I'm gonna take that's probably
speaker-0 (1:47:17)
taking I'll let you I'll let you take that.
speaker-2 (1:47:21)
It was either that or Maglio for me. Yeah.
speaker-0 (1:47:24)
I don't know. I I I really don't wanna leave Fisk off the board. I think I'm gonna take Fisk.
speaker-1 (1:47:29)
Caleb, if you didn't take him, I was gonna take him.
speaker-0 (1:47:31)
You can't leave Carlton Fisk waving it waving it fair. Can't l you can't leave that off the board.
speaker-2 (1:47:37)
Only reason I didn't jump on is because I lost game seven.
speaker-0 (1:47:40)
Yeah, that was I that's probably why I fell so far, is 'cause again, they lost. It's hard to it's hard to be happy when you lose game seven.
speaker-2 (1:47:49)
I've got two bangers. So no matter what John picks, I got a good one.
speaker-1 (1:47:52)
I just wanna s I just wanna double check one thing.
Give me the first No
speaker-2 (1:47:58)
Take Dusty Rose in the nineteen sixty one World Series?
speaker-1 (1:48:01)
Yeah, I'll go ahead and take those no I'm kidding.
speaker-0 (1:48:04)
He's gonna take like nineteen thirteen
speaker-1 (1:48:06)
Give
the Bill Burr. No, no. Gimme the Mookie Wilson walk off in game zero.
speaker-0 (1:48:12)
You can fucking have that. Fucking take it.
speaker-2 (1:48:15)
I mean you knew I wasn't taking math.
speaker-1 (1:48:17)
There was another player involved, but I I remember it as a Mookie Wilson play.
speaker-2 (1:48:24)
Where Bob Stan Bob Stanley they brought in they probably shouldn't have.
speaker-1 (1:48:29)
Caleb Strape just watches that. No, you probably don't 'cause you've won World Series since then. Had Caleb been an old head, he would have watched that once a week after his twelve beers just a cry.
speaker-2 (1:48:42)
Yeah.
speaker-1 (1:48:43)
Yeah,
I was fourteen.
speaker-0 (1:48:44)
We know.
speaker-2 (1:48:45)
me.
speaker-1 (1:48:46)
Yeah. Yeah.
speaker-2 (1:48:47)
All right, I'll take the only actual walk off Grand Slam in World Series history. I will take Freddie Freeman off of Nestor Cortez in twenty twenty four, game one. Me.
speaker-1 (1:48:58)
Freddy!
speaker-2 (1:48:58)
Yeah, electric broadcast call and also I think they were down by three when it happened, correct?
speaker-1 (1:49:04)
Yeah.
speaker-2 (1:49:04)
Yeah.
speaker-1 (1:49:05)
Not the first ever Hey, who hit the first ever walk off Grand Slam in a playoff game?
speaker-2 (1:49:10)
Couldn't remember if Freddie was the only World Series one or the
speaker-1 (1:49:12)
He's the only World Series one. Two thousand two thousand eleven.
speaker-2 (1:49:15)
One of the posties? Nelson Cruz.
speaker-1 (1:49:18)
No, yes. I crossed it off and then switched to the Buckner one.
Damn right Tigers or Dodgers.
speaker-0 (1:49:24)
Alex has Bill Mazarowski in 1960. Game four, David Ortiz, Kirby Puckett in Game Six. Ordonnez in the ALCS and Carlton Fisk. John has Ozzy Smith, Kirk Gibson, Salvador Perez, Robin Ventura, and Game Six, 1986. I'm not gonna say the names.
speaker-1 (1:49:46)
Wilson.
speaker-0 (1:49:47)
David Caleb has David Freeze in 2011, Joe Carter in Game Six,
Luis Gonzalez in game seven, Ed Yor Renteria and Freddie Freeman. Those are just
speaker-1 (1:49:58)
By the way, Caleb's list is so good.
speaker-2 (1:50:01)
No.
speaker-1 (1:50:02)
he's almost guaranteed to win this. I might try to bot farm my way into winning it, but we'll see.
speaker-0 (1:50:09)
I also had I had I this was it this was kind of a question. Rock Game one hundred sixty three.
speaker-1 (1:50:18)
that's not a playoff. Doesn't count.
speaker-0 (1:50:20)
It's it's n it's after the full season. It's game one sixty three.
speaker-2 (1:50:24)
Who hit the walk off? Who hit the walk off? I don't even. Trivia. Trivia. Who who gets it? Who gets it? It was Jamie Carroll.
speaker-1 (1:50:32)
Wasn't paying any attention, sorry.
speaker-2 (1:50:33)
said who hit the walk off in that game.
speaker-1 (1:50:35)
No idea. I don't know who JB Carroll is. I don't know who Jamie Moyer is.
speaker-0 (1:50:41)
Yeah, Edgar Martinez, game five of the ninety-five ALCS as well. Griffey. and Salty in game three of the two thousand and thirteen ALCS.
speaker-1 (1:50:53)
I have
Aaron Boone three, Bernie Williams ninety nine, and then you took Freddie Freeman. and then I had the Nelson Cruz Grand Slam on my list.
speaker-2 (1:51:04)
only other honorable mentions for me were Travis Ichikawa, descend the Giants to the World Series in twenty fourteen and Scott Petsednik, absolute legend.
speaker-0 (1:51:14)
Yeah.
speaker-2 (1:51:15)
Walk off homer in game two of the O five World Series.
speaker-1 (1:51:17)
Yeah.
speaker-0 (1:51:18)
I did see that one.
speaker-2 (1:51:19)
Understanding.
speaker-1 (1:51:21)
You is it just me or are Richie Sexton and Scott Pittsednik the same person?
speaker-2 (1:51:26)
There quite literally could not be more difficult.
speaker-1 (1:51:29)
Similar to me.
speaker-2 (1:51:32)
One of them hit forty five home runs in a season. One of them probably topped out of five.
speaker-1 (1:51:37)
I don't I they are the same person to me for some reason. I have to remind myself that they're not the same person. I just thought of them as like that sort of ball knowledge when I was a kid, if you knew who Richie Saxon and Scott Pittsednik were. Because of
speaker-0 (1:51:52)
I was doing research for this. for a second I forgot about the postseason aspect and I did see Scott Hatterberg. I had Scott Hatterberg on my list.
speaker-1 (1:52:03)
Moneyball is a fucking awful movie.
speaker-0 (1:52:06)
I just wanted to bring up Moneyball.
speaker-1 (1:52:08)
Ha ha.
speaker-0 (1:52:09)
I just wanted to bring it up to get John riled up.
speaker-1 (1:52:11)
So fun You need to cut a clip of all the times I've gotten angry about Moneyball.
speaker-0 (1:52:17)
Actually the the clip I'm posting tonight, there's another clip I'm posting tonight when you were talking about bunting. Your bunt
speaker-1 (1:52:23)
Someone brought a money ball?
speaker-0 (1:52:24)
and I brought up money ball and I said you're doing money ball right now. Clip. Really good clip.
speaker-1 (1:52:29)
Shut though. Good fuck up. All right.
speaker-0 (1:52:35)
