The NFL World was all ready to jump all over Tommy DeVito's Linsanity run (including us, our bad) after a story came out yesterday, that DeVito doubled his appearance fee after he had already agreed to appear at Coniglio's Pizzeria in New Jersey. His fee was $10,000 before their game against the Packers on Monday Night Football, Coniglio's had scheduled the appearance with DeVito's agent, who has also had his own 5 minuets of fame. While the restaurant was trying to bang out the final details of the deal with his agent, the agent went radio silent on them until after their big Monday Night win, after the game, he came back and doubled the price, trying to strike while the iron was hot. Well, the family owned business was priced out and of course, they needed to let their customers and fans know what happened and it went viral. I am sure that DeVito started to hear about this, so he made it right as his image was being torn apart. DeVito decided to go to the restaurant and make the appearance for free, according to Coniglio's Instagram story, great to see from him, really shows a lot of maturity and humbleness from him to show up and make things right.
Now for his agent, it has to be time for DeVito to fire him right? Not only did he hurt DeVito's image, he just cost him the $10k he could have earned if he didn't go back on his word. He tried to manipulate a small business in Jersey, an Italian pizzeria of all places! Isn't this guy in the Italian Sports Hall of Fame, you really can't get much worse than that, Tommy, if you search your name in google and somehow come across this quick article, we would love to represent you as your agent because we may be bad, but we aren't "double your appearance fee for a small business" bad. Honestly, his agent should give him the $10k from his own pocket, this agent is getting a percentage of your contract and now he is costing you money, leave this guy and find anyone else, especially someone who isn't trying to turn himself into some type of micro-celebrity by just dressing up as an Italian, maybe he is just becoming too involved with his own image to worry about his only active client.
We also want to issue a sincere apology to Tommy for anything we said, all of those things are now directed at your agent because, cmon, he's really trying to shakedown a restaurant? I get he wants to be a gangster, but at least gangsters would offer protection to the restaurants they shake down.
