Alright, welcome to episode two forty-three of Chaotically Intolerant. we have John and Mike on the show today. We're gonna be talking a little NFL week three. Where I'm not gonna mention I'm not gonna talk about the jersey that I'm wearing. I'm not gonna talk about that team. it was really bad, really awful performance. we're gonna talk a little bit of Mike Tomlin's Minecraft.
We're gonna talk a little bit of that stupid senator that didn't understand the difference between the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Atlanta Hawks. And then we're gonna do a two-person snake draft, so head to head of the greatest sports nicknames. but before we get into all that, make sure to like, comment, subscribe, go check out Spring Hill Sports Cards, that's John on YouTube and TikTok. Go check out Draft America on YouTube.
and Instagram and go to chaoticallyintolerant.com. Make sure to like, comment, subscribe, join the email list, and vote on the draft at chaoticallyintolerant.com as well. And let's go.
Mike Tomlin.
I love this, dude. This is this is maybe some of the greatest some of the greatest football content I think we've gotten. Like, I don't care about Tom Brady doing fighting Logan Paul at Fanatics Fest. I don't care about what whatever. Seeing Mike Tomlin, I an entire like YouTube series of Mike Tomlin going through his Minecraft Minecraft world is awesome. I love that.
It actually humanizes the guy. And I've I mean, listen, I've said a lot of things about Mike Tomlin, the head coach on this on this program. that ha they haven't been very nice. I mean, I I just think like I think towards the end, and it was very clear those Steelers teams were always pretty mediocre. They were never really that good. They never won anything besides in what was it, nine, twenty ten, twenty ten. they really didn't win anything after that. So,
But hey, this is fucking sick. This is sick. So the question is when did he start did he start building his Minecraft house and Ben Rothlessberger retired and then he's like, God, I got a lot of time on my hands. I I think it started I think it started when Antonio Brown was doing his bullshit. Like when the bullshit really started. I think that I think that was his coping. It it had the Minecraft had to be Mike Tomlin's coping of or coping with Antonio Brown, Levian Bell, and Ben Rothlessberger.
All in Ben Rothesberger won't stop sexually assaulting people. Le'Veon Bell's holding out. Antonio Brown has chronic brain damage. but you're still he's still winning eight games a year minimum. Listen, the the fact that they were able to do what they did do, because th some of those teams, like they weren't bad teams, and he held them together for a long I mean, for an entire NFL season. The fact he was able to hold those Steelers teams together was impressive. And now we know how.
He went home and he relaxed and he played Minecraft for a while. That that's great. As a kid who grew up in the era when Minecraft like came out and started getting bit we did a science project in middle school with Minecraft, which was pretty sick. I love this. This is awesome. This is great. A teacher a teacher at a school down the street from me, built the entire school in Minecraft down to like the specific classrooms and
you would his students he go, okay, log in at the science lab. The kids will all move their characters to the science lab and they do their activities and so it was pretty neat. But this Mike Tomlin one is it's on another level. Like if Mike Tomlin wasn't an NFL head coach, his Minecraft city would still be really impressive. He could he sh he could have been a Minecraft streamer.
If he wasn't in He should be a Minecraft streamer. He should. I want to see more Minecraft stream. I want full live streams. I want him watching the Steelers Browns game tonight while also street or like doing Minecraft. That would be electric. My favorite part about it, as the only dad in the chaotically intolerant universe, my picture in my head is Mike Tomlin coming home from a long night at work. He's
Wants to spend time with his family and all his kids are doing is playing Minecraft. So after they go to bed, yeah, he logs in and he's trying to figure out how to play Minecraft. This is kinda neat. This is fun. Yeah. I I'm gonna build a little house here. And he's just next thing you know, his wife's like, Baby, it's five in the morning. He's like, Hold on. I'm working on my aquarium to show the kids. She's like, This isn't about the kids, this is about you. Well, one of his kids sent out a tweet saying
Like I would come home and my PS my PlayStation would be gone and I'm I wasn't even in trouble. He just took my PlayStation to go play Minecraft. Roll the highlights. Which I love that I honestly love that even more because Mike Tomlin, who was probably making ten, I d I don't even know how much money he was making. He was like, I'm not buying a separate PS Playstation.
I know because he's not that into it. He's not that into it. He's not that into it. Clearly not. That's it. My dad, when he got into roller coaster tycoon, he was obsessive about it. And he'd be like, I'm not I mean, I'm not really that into it. Then I'd wake up for a glass of water like two thirty in the morning, he'd be playing roller coaster tycoon. I'm like, I thought you weren't that into it, dad. Not not worth buying your own version of the game. You're not that into it. Look at his career earnings. Yeah, because if it's anything over like
Fifteen million dollars, I'd be like, come on, Mike, which I know it's over fifteen million. I I would guaranteed it was over fifteen million. It was one hundred million dollars of contr contracted money. So after taxes and all that bullshit, he had a ton of money. you couldn't buy L to C, Mike. Yeah, he so in the in the 2010s he was making six million a year. Twenty twenty one through twenty-four, eleven and a half, twenty twenty-four on
sixteen point five million a year. all in. They says he cleared forty million dollars in his career. Which is wild. That you made a hundred million dollars and you cleared forty million. And you had to you had to borrow your kid's PlayStation, you couldn't couldn't get your own Playstation? Come on, Mike. He's frugal. He was spending a lot of money on, you know, Minecraft skins, I'm sure. yeah, that's probably true.
He was he was buying every like every extension pack possible for Minecraft. It's pretty sick. Well he said he did a lot of underground building too. So like the city goes into the it basements and subways and he put a lot of thought into it. I like my favorite part. My favorite part of this is over here in the corner. It's like a little something like a bar. He goes so all the residents in this apartment complex have have an in
In apartment bar, I'm like, I'm sure they love that, Mike. the Hmm. I would say he needs to open it up to the public, but the public would destroy it. that would be so sad. They would absolutely destroy it. Like PvE. Can you shut off like editing? Just let people wal take a tour of his Minecraft city? Or just peop let them live there. Just let them like go.
Do what they want to do in the city and just let live there. I don't even need a tour. Charge five dollars to tour the city and donate the money to p childhood literacy or something. Did he make it build a didn't he build like a hospital in there? Probably, yeah. He might have done that. So just donate it to a children's hospital. St. Jude, yes. St. Jude. If Saint yeah, that's St. Jude. and then the other thing I had on my docket.
was a really dumb congress person, congressman, didn't know the difference between the Hawks and the Hawkeyes. First off, I read you in Atlanta and he's like, I I wasn't I was in Maryland. I was watching Caitlin Clark. how come you tweeted out that you were at the Hawks game? He goes, I I did he's like, I did it. And finally they're like, my God, he thinks the Hawks and the Hawkeyes are the same team. He's I was watching Caitlin Clark play.
In Iowa or in Maryland. They the the Hawkeyes came to Maryland. Yeah. my goodness. What a gotcha moment. Limited time I have left. I do want to ask you about a couple of things. did you go to an NBA game between the Golden State Warriors and the Atlanta Hawks on February third, twenty twenty four?
speaker-1 (09:16)
I'm sorry, could you say that again?
speaker-0 (09:17)
Did you go to an NBA game between the Golden State Warriors and the Atlanta Hawks on February third, twenty twenty four?
speaker-1 (09:23)
What city would that be?
speaker-0 (09:24)
Atlanta. He's so mad. Okay. Like, what? I'm talking about Schmidt so mad is that you did not go to a Hawks game on February third, twenty twenty four. Is that correct?
speaker-1 (09:37)
I have no recollection of the
speaker-0 (09:39)
Okay,
is it your testimony that you were not in Atlanta on February third, twenty twenty four?
Let me let me just give you a little context. The day before Fannie Willis came clean with her affair with the prosecutor, you know the Atlanta prosecutor that was also trying to get Trump, the next day were you in Atlanta?
speaker-1 (09:57)
I do not believe so.
speaker-0 (09:58)
So
Jay, did you ever go to Atlanta during your time as special counsel?
speaker-1 (10:06)
I really don't think so. It's possible I flew through the Atlanta airport on the way to Florida, but I do not have a recollection of going to Atlanta. I I I definitely did not go to a Hawks game, I'm sure of that.
speaker-0 (10:19)
Did you ever meet Nathan Wade or Fannie Willis in your time in your time as special counsel?
speaker-1 (10:25)
No.
speaker-0 (10:26)
What would you say if I had a series of text messages from your team that said you were in Atlanta at a Warrior Hawks game on February third, twenty twenty four, the day after Willis and Wade announced their fucking shock.
You I don't think you know that we have this. I love the posters. Yeah. I love how they do posters.
speaker-1 (10:50)
You
just took it down really quick. If I could look at it
speaker-0 (10:52)
I love when they do post or Mr. Chairman, can we give the witness a copy so he can see what's being read to him? Well, I think you've already sufficiently answered. I wanna I want to run through we'll we'll we'll we'll put it in a follow up. You can respond. You've I think you've already perjured yourself, but did you or your obvious can we see it? Can we see it? Did you or your office seek this is my time. Senator If you want to use your time to criticize my question, go ahead. Did you or your office seek the contents?
Of members of of members of Congress's emails or text messages.
speaker-1 (11:32)
sought toll record subpoenas that did not contain the content of calls. I am also aware that we sought
White House phones for individuals who are relevant to our investigation, government phones on which they had no expedition.
speaker-0 (11:48)
Do you seek
the content? Let me ask you this way. Did you sink the content of messages from members of Congress by other means? Meaning the subpoenas you sent to the other hundred and ninety-seven organizations asking for communications from members of Congress? Because you've said you didn't with relate with as relates to members of Congress, but did you do it through another means, the other ninety seven nine hundred and ninety-seven subpoenas?
speaker-1 (12:12)
I can't address every subpoena we issued. What I can say is that I am aware that in the example of Congressman Perry, prosecutors, this is before I was special counsel, did in fact seek a search warrant and receive judicial authority for a search warrant of his telephone. So that definitely happened.
speaker-0 (12:32)
Thank you, Mr. Smith. In closing, I just want to say, in the famous words of the chief of the secret police under Stalin, of show me the man, I'll show you the crime. You may think you're a hero in this story, but let me tell you something. You're the villain. You've done so much damage. As a former prosecutor, I can say this so much damage the trust and faith people have in our system. You have weaponized the Department of Justice against political enemies to an extent that has never happened in the history of this country. You will go down.
His cortisol is spiking right now. He's a beta. What a beta. Ew dude, don't use that word.
speaker-1 (13:07)
Mr. Chairman.
Without objection, I'll enter into the record emails showing the FBI of all agencies raised concern with the DOJ that there was a to obtain Marilago.
speaker-0 (13:20)
Why are you in Congress, dude? What are you doing?
speaker-1 (13:28)
Mr. Chairman, then you're going to be able to allow the witness to see this fast.
poster board that we saw, is that gonna be included then in the so the witness can look at that at some point here before the hearing's over? Because we couldn't see what it said. And I'm a former prosecutor too and I have never seen anyone just say, What do you think of this and put it down?
We need a copy of the actual text. Can c can you give it
speaker-0 (14:01)
This is our federal
speaker-1 (14:02)
the courtesy of giving him a copy of that?
speaker-0 (14:08)
This is
speaker-1 (14:09)
Thank you.
speaker-0 (14:09)
Can the witness be allowed to come and This is the Cheetah the Cheetah and the Monkey meme. The cheetah growling and the monkey just
speaker-1 (14:18)
Should we maybe give him the chance to look at it and then go back at it so he can see I think I can address it. Go to your Okay, do you wanna k this isn't in my time, but yes, Mr. Smith, please address it. Just very briefly. In this g if if this is the correct basketball game. I recall going to a University of Maryland basketball game where Caitlin Clark was playing. right around that time.
and the Marshall Service was there with me. You could check if that was the exact date. It was Maryland playing Iowa, I think February of twenty twenty four. But again, that's you could check that out if that's what we're talking about.
speaker-0 (14:57)
University of Iowa.
speaker-1 (15:00)
Could could it then be that University of Iowa's the Hawkeyes? Could that be it? And maybe before we show this kind of thing. I know, but if he was at an Iowa game, is that correct? It it was because Caitlin Clark was coming into Maryland.
speaker-0 (15:17)
Like
speaker-1 (15:19)
I know, but that might be the confusion over the names of the team, but perhaps you should have looked at it more carefully.
speaker-0 (15:25)
Well I'm glad you're trying to rehabilitate the witness, but it's not I presented him with text messages about him wanting to meet with people that could have obviously been related
speaker-1 (15:33)
My questions I just I just
speaker-0 (15:36)
to the prosecution that was coordinated with
speaker-1 (15:52)
I'm
gonna be
speaker-0 (15:52)
He's
a non ball.
she just called him a non-fold no
speaker-1 (16:04)
Senator Close. Go proceed with your question.
speaker-0 (16:08)
One is out
speaker-1 (16:10)
From the state of Minnesota where we have the gophers, so there's not a lot of confusion. There's nothing
speaker-0 (16:18)
Were you at a Cincinnati Bengals game? I was at a Detroit Lions game. What's the difference? They're both cats. You can be wrong. You can't be you can be loud. You can't be loud and wrong. You can't be loud, angry, and wrong. He was all three. You can be loud, angry, and right. You can be loud and right. Whatever.
But you you can be happy and wrong. You can be happy and wrong. You can be like you can be like, yeah, I I got it wrong. I fucked up. That guy should have done why didn't you just concede? Just concede and be like, I got it wrong. I'm sorry. Got it wrong. You are an adult male in America. You don't know the difference between the hawks and the hawkeyes. I love that the pro Caitlin Clark propaganda has made it to the US government. The Caitlin Clark propaganda Clark play.
Me too. I too want to see Caitlin Clark play. The Caitlin Clark propaganda has made it into the US government. It does it it has infiltrated the US government. Wow. That's I just love that like we have a government official whose alibi is like, I wanted to see her break Pistol Pete's record. So it's like passable, passable excuse. Weren't you do didn't you have a job to do? Yeah.
watching her drop buckets. Did you fucking see her play? Like, come on, man. It was something else. That's that was incredibly embarrassing. we're not a political show, but if you're if you are in session, if you are on a council and you're getting by your own by someone on that council you're getting pointed out as a non ball knower. You might as well just resign. Like don't
Just let the next guy up take your spot in Congress. Cause you're a non ball knower in Congress. That's pretty embarrassing. In America. In America. Brutal. Where's the are like it's like sports, fucking fighting wars, something else. That's what we do. Guns. Respect it. Guns and ball ball sports. Yeah. Yeah.
Ball sports specifically, yes. Yes. Yeah, tough tough scene. Tough scene. I think our I think our politicians, they need to have one sports debate. That's one of the debates that they need to have on the cycle of debates. Like whatever sports topic, at least a question, we need to make sure our politicians know just a little bit of ball. Yeah. It's incredibly important. Because if your politician doesn't know ball like at all
Problem, man. That's a real problem. I don't Is he really representing everyone? I don't want to really represent what we're gonna do about inflation. I want to know would you start your franchise with Bobby Witt Jr. or Pete Crow Armstrong? Because that tells me a lot more than your fiscal policy. What do you value? What do you value? How do you I wanna know how do you build an NFL franchise from
From the bottom up. Like where do you start? What are you drafting first? Because if I hear say, I'm gonna go, I'm gonna go quarterback first, it that's just that's not what you probably probably a pack funded shell. A real man. They they're gonna throw the ball, they're gonna throw the ball sixty times and just not think about the run whatsoever. You you build from the trenches, you build into out. Obviously, you got a generational quarterback, maybe you take
Because you're like, you know what, we can't pass this guy up. But I wanna hear I want to hear a politician say, you know, the the middle class, that's our offensive line. That's where I'm starting. I'm like That's the way to do it. That's who I'm voting for. Yeah. That's who I'm voting for. Yeah. And I don't care about I don't care about the party. No. If you say, but also you like all Americans have to eat poop, I'm like, but at least we have a strong O line.
Yeah. You know He could say it very next sentence. He's like, every single American, you gotta you gotta eat poop sometimes. You just gotta do it just to help us. I'd be like, but he knows ball. Like he kinda knows ball, so it's a ball knower. You built you build from the front back. You know? Let's get more b well listen, I I gotta I gotta give it to to the woman. I I didn't see your name or I didn't catch her name. I don't remember her name. I gotta give it to her though. Loki a ball knower. Yeah.
Like the fact that she was like Gophers? Yeah, she dropped the Gophers. And the fact that she was like, We gotta get the teams right first before we attack anyone. A little bit of that's a rivalry, isn't it? Isn't that the golden gophers and the Hawkeyes? Isn't that some kind of rivalry? I think so. I think they have some sort of Midwest rivalry. So she knows. Shout out Serafino. He would know. He would know a lot better about it. That's the and that's that hard nosed, you know.
run the ball style offenses. they they're they're gate they they score like combined twenty points. The overunder is set at like twenty nine. But tight ends. They've got tight ends. Lots of tight ends. Lots of tight ends. Lots of tight ends. Alright, I'm glad we talked political political ball political balls. Execute any politician who can't answer basic sports trivia. Cut that. Cause the FBI will come knocking down our door. Well
That's only if the FBI is not a ball knower. Yeah. Yeah. Well they're probably if we that would be outing them as non ball that would be outing them as non ball knowers. I don't think they want to do that. I don't think they want to out themselves as non ball knowers. All right. That's a good spot to wrap up. We're gonna move into the next topic. Okay, NFL week number three. I finally had a little bit of positivity in my life in with the Colts and a big win.
We're gonna go through every game except for the Ravens game. Go to the Maryland spotlight, check out the Ravens game, our full review of the Ravens game. Big Ravens win, I'll say, but we'll leave our our thoughts on it for that. Let's start. Let's start with the Chargers and the Buffalo Bills. definition of Chargering, I gotta say. Complete and utter definition. Buffalo turned it over five times.
They turned it over five times. It was thirteen to ten Chargers in the fourth quarter. but the Chargers somehow found a way to lose this game in just ugly fashion. I think there was an there was a score that got called back, but at one point it was like I remember looking up and it was thirty to sixteen or something like that. And I was like, that's the Chargers. That makes complete and utter sense. And again, this might have been the game the Chargers were gonna win.
in this stretch because it doesn't get any easier from this. They might be and seven. I think I said it last week. I still think they're gonna be O and seven.
speaker-1 (23:17)
Yeah, I mean what we shouldn't be surprised. It's you know it's like when these teams like the Bengals for many years in the Marvin Lewis days like they're bad no matter what. They just haven't embraced it yet. They're fighting it. They're doing everything they can to just stay relevant. They need to accept their fate. They are the Chargers. Let them let it be bad.
You gotta heal it to feel it. That's the Chargers. That's all I can say. They're not good. They need to accept it and act like a team that's not good so that they can get better. The first step is admitting you have a problem. It's like a public they're like a public service announcement. I don't know. Yes. I like the Bill and the Bills. It's
speaker-0 (24:04)
Yeah.
speaker-1 (24:05)
admitting that you saw well, the Dolphins, it's taken them let's see, two thousand was their last playoff win. I remember it was a youngster at that game.
And only now are they in a real true rebuild. Yeah. Charges are not. Ironically, that seems charges were one in fifteen. Yeah. Yeah.
speaker-0 (24:26)
Yeah, they had a 10 point lead in the second. It was 10 to nothing. 13 to 10 in the fourth, and they lost by eight points. they also had six drives that ended inside of the Buffalo 30 in this game. Just I mean, what do you d is is Justin Herbert even safe? Consider let's just say, let's just say the Chargers win like four games or five games. Brown's touchdown, by the way. 13 7.
About to be fourteen. Let's say they win like five games this year. I would assume Harbaugh is fired.
speaker-1 (25:01)
Uh-huh.
speaker-0 (25:02)
I really can't look at a player on the roster that is truly safe.
speaker-1 (25:05)
No. Well, maybe Lad McConkie, but that's that's like it. And the Bills didn't even play well. They turn remember how many times you said they turned it? Five times.
speaker-0 (25:14)
Five turnovers in this game.
speaker-1 (25:15)
Still won the game against a supposedly good team, right? That we know is not good, but Yeah. I don't know, Buffalo's been to me, everyone's like, and they're the favorite to win the AFC. And yeah, technically they beat three team well, two playoff teams and a team with a winning record from a year ago, but there's nothing that screams special
about this Bills team. I don't look at it as like this is different. man, this is the team. Like they're just they're like meh three and
speaker-0 (25:47)
I really like to hope that they are, 'cause I I would really like to see the Bills finally do it. I think it would be really cool. but I mean again, like Allen was not good. Fifty four passer rating, sixteen for twenty six, two four, two interceptions, two rush touchdowns, and took four sacks in this game. it was the James Cook show again, and he was twenty four for one fifty sorry, I'm getting hiccups. I don't know why.
He was 24 for 154 with a touchdown and a lost fumble here. So, besides James James Cook, it wasn't really that impressive from a Bills team that you're at home, the Chargers are depressed, and it did feel like a desperate Chargers team to start the game. And the Bills, like, I don't know. They gotta look prettier. It's just gotta look prettier for the Bills here. Five turnovers in any game for any team is unacceptable.
I don't care who you are.
speaker-1 (26:46)
I don't know like w the Bills now I think the the AFC East we thought the Patriots would be like it would be neck and neck with them, but I think the Bills would be better off being in a tough division and maybe going into the playoffs as a lower seed, you know? Yeah. But they're gonna go in as like the one or the two. It's gonna be all this pressure and it's gonna be like, what are you gonna do now, Josh Allen? I don't know.
speaker-0 (27:12)
Same thing as every year.
speaker-1 (27:13)
Yeah, exactly.
speaker-0 (27:14)
Alright, to Carolina or Cleveland to Cleveland. Browns. Two and one. It's Thursday night. We're watching the game right now. They could be three and one. They're up a touchdown. I will say Deshaun is not as advertised yet. He's not there yet. And hearing Browns fans say that this is the Deshaun that we wanted is kinda crazy just to think about how bad.
They their quarterback plays been that this is like, my God, this is what we wanted. This is what we've been waiting for from this guy. but in the moments that counted, he was three of six for 44 yards on the final drive. and he had a twenty one yard scramble on third and three to move to the Carolina twenty one. so you know, Cleveland won. There they got a winning record. That's a win.
If you're Cleveland. That is an absolute win considering all of the discourse around Deshaun, all the negativity in this offseason with Shador and and you know, Todd Munkin saying things about Deshaun. You're two and one. So just be happy with two and one. there was also a Watson pick in the end zone that was called off because of a Bobby O'Karake roughing the passer.
in the on that final drive with about two minutes to go. But yeah, they Cleveland was even booed in this game as well. they they were booed after three straight three and outs, but I think Deshaun Watson said I think that was for the offense. I don't know, man. I that I again like Carolina, what can you say about Carolina here? This was it this if you're a real team, this is a game you win. This is a game you have to win going into Cleveland. When you look at the schedule
you know, when it comes out in in April, you go down the schedule and you're like, Okay, this is a win, this is a loss, this is a win. You look at that Cleveland game, you're like, we're not losing. We're not losing this game. Maybe the defense, but we're not losing this game. It's money you can't lose. You just can't lose.
speaker-1 (29:21)
Yes, yeah. Very disappointing for K.
speaker-0 (29:24)
Panthers outgained
the bat they outgained the Browns to overall in yardage.
speaker-1 (29:29)
I mean, Bryce Young, he's he spread the ball around and you know, a lot of how was it looks like nine different players caught passes for Carolina, but it just didn't look like at the end of the game I happened to catch the the last drive there and it just they didn't look comfortable like they were ever gonna really make the play, you know, that they needed to. It just looked disjointed or something at the end. And it was, you know, the game had kinda gone back and forth and it just
I don't know. They just looked flat at the end of the game. It was like that there either didn't feel like there was urgency or didn't feel like there was a lot of cohesion there. Yeah. so like yeah, the numbers would tell you that Carolina's a competent football team. I mean, they they blew out Atlanta, which we thought was nothing, but then Atlanta goes and blows out Green Bay, so you know, and they get blown out by Chicago and we think Chicago's amazing, and then they come and lose nine three, but then they beat Philadelphia by twenty or whatever it was.
And so it it's so it's just this has been so up and down this season s for so many teams and it's all you know, through three weeks. I think Carolina will be okay. I think the best thing for them is that Bryce Young is playing pretty good football.
speaker-0 (30:47)
Yeah. He is dealing with a lower body injury right now.
speaker-1 (30:50)
This is hockey. Lower body injury. I
what the but now Baker Mayfield's hurt. I know you like Tyler Shuck, but the Saints are one and two. And Atlanta's one and two. So Carolina's what? In first place? Technically?
speaker-0 (31:06)
think they're all tied, so I think they would technically
speaker-1 (31:10)
No, the bucks are on three.
speaker-0 (31:13)
I'm sorry. They three of them are tied. Yeah, Carolina. One and two. First place.
speaker-1 (31:19)
So there's a little there's a little more margin for error for them. The Browns not so much. The North is very tough. Yeah. Four teams over five hundred the way it's going.
speaker-0 (31:30)
So this is also the first Browns winning record since twenty twenty three. The first time they have had a winning record.
speaker-1 (31:37)
At any point. Yeah.
speaker-0 (31:39)
Any point, any point since twenty twenty-three. So congrats Browns fans, you made it. Made it to the top of the mountain. Been at the bottom. You're at the top. Maybe like the midpoint of the mountain, I don't know. to Detroit. The Jets and the Lions played a little bit of a thriller in this one.
Gino, I gotta talk about Gino. Thirty-one for thirty-seven, three twenty-one, three touchdowns, one twenty nine passer rating. Garrett Wilson and Sadiq with a both with a hundred plus yards. It feels like right now the Jets defense and offense just kind of can't sync up. It feels like there's a really good Jets Jets day from the defense and then a really good offensive day.
like the next week, but they can't get him on the same time. Which I feel like is it's encouraging, right? To be able to have both. Because the definition of the Jets, did they miss the field goal? Chris Boswell just missed a 48 yard field goal and now he's upset about something. the the Jets it just felt like they were defined by the defense and and they couldn't move the ball. They were never able to do anything with the football on offense. Now you're at least seeing a little bit of life. So maybe it was
Maybe it was Pete Carroll's fault for for Gino because we haven't seen a Gino like this in in a while.
speaker-1 (33:01)
I d yeah, I've Gino, but he did get Seattle to the playoffs, you know, and when they got rid of Russell Wilson, I was like, really for Gino Smith? And that year he took him to the postseason and he had a he had you know people forget Gino won ten games for the Seahawks two years ago, which they were like, Well, that's good, you know, ten and seven, but we feel like we have a good team. Now we just need the quarterback. And Sam Darnold ends up being the quarterback.
Former Jet. And but yeah, I I look the Jets are playing exciting football games. Yeah, they're one and two, which is still amazing for the Jets, but they are they're playing excit like the last feels like twenty years, but really the last few years. Ugly, low scoring game. The defense does well, and then Zach Wilson puts up like five points on the board, you know? At least if you're a Jet
speaker-0 (33:54)
Yeah.
speaker-1 (33:56)
fan, you're you're getting entertained.
The receiving core looks good. Garrett Wilson had ten. Kenyan Sadiq, you know, seven for one five. Like they're I like it. I I think if you're a Jet fan, you just gotta be happy that these games have been entertaining and that Geno Smith, at least for three of the first seventeen games, looks like the guy that they drafted.
speaker-0 (34:18)
When was the last time they had two receivers with a hundred yards in a single? That's a I I don't even know.
speaker-1 (34:25)
I feel like off the top of my head going back to like Lavernius Cole's Santana Moss Wayne Crobat era. but yeah, I mean or Santonio Holmes they had at one point, but Braylon Edwards, I'm not I have no idea. But yeah, it feels like feels like going way back.
speaker-0 (34:45)
last time Jets had two one hundred yard receivers in a game. I don't know. I don't it's not gonna give me this quick enough, but still great great day from them. and then on the Detroit side, Jared Goff, serviceable, Jameer Gibbs with Barry Sanders in the house. Jameer Gibbs was unstoppable.
speaker-1 (35:13)
ChatGBT tells me Jermaine Kirse and Robbie Anderson, who's now Robbie chosen December 3rd, 2017, against the Chiefs.
speaker-0 (35:22)
I don't I personally never I never trust ChatGPT, especially when it comes to sports. They get shit wrong all the time. So we'll say on this show, the chaotically intolerant stat of the week is that.
speaker-1 (35:34)
For seven nine years the Jets had two hundred yard receivers that
speaker-0 (35:37)
No way no way to confirm it, but
speaker-1 (35:41)
Yeah, with Harrison and Wayne, it was like every week. But now, I believe the first my stat, I remember, I think the first two teammates to each have a hundred catches in a season was the Broncos in two thousand, where right when I started watching was Rod Smith, Ed McCaffrey. Now it's like well, now with seventeen games. Everybody has a hundred catch, you know, every receiver on the team, even the water boy has a hundred receptions. So
Yes, but sorry, you were saying Jared Goff, yeah.
speaker-0 (36:11)
I mean he wasn't bad either. Like I I said serviceable, serviceable in a good way. twenty-five of thirty-two, two sixty-nine, two touchdowns, one twenty-two passer rating. Like good. and he's had a touchdown pass in twenty six straight games now, which is pretty crazy.
speaker-1 (36:29)
That's yeah.
speaker-0 (36:31)
That's a pretty crazy streak.
speaker-1 (36:33)
Well, you know, Goff's thing is that it's been really the knock on him has been what he's done in the playoffs and or not done really, as it were. And the Lions, you know, again, the the Jets and Lions suddenly now are kinda two mirror images of each other in terms of teams playing these high wire type games and so it played out very exciting. But we know Detroit can be really dynamic. Just what what can they get from their defense? It feels like their defense has kinda gotten torched these first few weeks. So
It it feels like it's one of those things where the minute that Jared Goff has a bad game or Gibbs gets stuffed, they're in trouble. You know, they get ugly.
speaker-0 (37:14)
The j the Lions Lions have scored 31 points in all three of their games this year. If they do it this Sunday, exactly 31, they'll be the first team to ever do that. Score the same amount of points in
speaker-1 (37:27)
GBT tell you that.
speaker-0 (37:28)
No, that was CBS Sports. Yeah.
speaker-1 (37:31)
That's C B S. Yeah.
speaker-0 (37:33)
I hope they're right. to Indianapolis.
speaker-1 (37:38)
There you go.
speaker-0 (37:41)
listen. They the Colts
won this football game. By by numbers, they won this football game. Neither team wanted to win this, nor did they win this game. Neither team won. This was a ugly AFC South just grossness. Daniel Jones looked really rusty still. I mean again being able to win but he did he had a he had a couple fumbles. He had a fumble
Will he's standing in the pocket. Will Anderson is coming at his chest. Like he's not coming on from the blind side, just coming right around at his chest. And I think Daniel Jones just thought he was gonna be able to get the football out in time. So he pulls back like this, and Will Anderson just swats it away and and you know, Indianapolis turned it over. Just a an ugly game. Not again, Daniel Jones, not really great on the ball protection aspect. he had a fumble late in the game too. when was it?
Looking at my looking at my stats here. it set up Houston's go ahead touchdown to go up seventeen, sixteen. So but in the in the big moment when the Colts really needed to to show up on offense and and move down the field, especially against this Texans defense who is not bad. I mean they they got torched week one, but they you know, they've looked good since. they showed up.
speaker-1 (39:02)
Yeah, well can the qu can Texans fans take solace in the fact that they were and three last year and went twelve and five? I I'm gonna say that's not that's I'm gonna answer that question and say they shouldn't because I I just I think it is CJ Stroud. I really do. I think he's
speaker-0 (39:20)
Just he does not look good.
speaker-1 (39:23)
He just is he's broken. See not just kind of broken. Is is he the guy that when you need a drive, you he trots out there with confidence, like I'm gonna take this team down the field 75 yards, 60, whatever, in you know, a minute and a half. It just doesn't feel that way. They're not running the ball well. I mean, the the defense 'cause it's not just the defense is tired, they're out there. They get discouraged too. It it wears on a defense, you know.
We don't know, we're not in these locker rooms, but there could be division. These guys, you know, defensive guys looking at it like we are doing everything we can to give you a chance to win, and you're going out there putting up seventeen against the Colts, six against the
speaker-0 (40:08)
Yeah, the a Colts team that gave up 500 yards in each of their first two games. Houston had 223 total yards in this game. They were to they were 21 for 70 on the ground. I mean, they looked right if if there is a worse team than the Colts, it was the Houston Texans. They were horrible. Just piss poor, really not. And I think a Texans fan would say would agree with me.
I was watching the game with a Texans fan this week and and it was funny. We were just it was a miserable experience to listen to us because we were both just like, we're gonna blow it here. we're gonna blow it here. Like it was literally just a a competition of how stupid are our teams. Cause it this was not a cold it didn't feel like a Colts win. I'm I'm not walking away from this game like, all right, I feel good. I felt better after the Texans game than I did after this one. I felt a hell of a lot better after.
after Houst or after Kansas City. Texans. Chiefs game. Yeah.
speaker-1 (41:12)
Sorry. Yeah, I know what you meant. Yeah. Right. Right. Well they but they played up to their competition two weeks ago and they played up to you know down to their competition somewhat this week and
speaker-0 (41:22)
I think they played at the perfect level of football that they play. That's what it felt like.
speaker-1 (41:28)
Well s but you gotta get that first win. Right right and no matter how ugly just g get that goose egg off the stat sheet, right? And now it's Houston's problem. punch.
speaker-0 (41:38)
Especially
they you know, they broke a nine game losing streak. That was to break a nine going back to last year, nine game losing streak.
speaker-1 (41:45)
yeah. Well as we see Ozzy Albies just going deep here, make it five nothing for the Braves, by the way. I I would say for it what what's the the old joke? I I remember Chris Berman used to reference it, you know, three point three yards of carry for the Texans, that's like a guy tripping over the Ottoman or something. You know, if if you're
speaker-0 (42:06)
Yeah.
speaker-1 (42:06)
gonna try to protect C J Stroud from himself, that's not that's not gonna cut it. That's just not gonna cut it. So
I I think he I I do think Houston's in trouble. I don't think you know, D'Amico Ryan's last year, they they win what'd they go like 13 and 2 after that 0 and 3 start up into the New England game? Like I think he has job security for now. But I just I don't it's like the Chargers, right? It's like just embrace that you're bad. Just just finally be stop overachieving because it's only gonna take you so far. I don't know. I
It's always easy for us to sit here and say, Stroud's not the guy, pull the plug on him. It's never that easy. There's so many different levels and factors that go into it. But sometimes there is a moment when somebody with the power to do it says, We're making a change. And I just I don't know. It's not like his numbers were horrible, right? I mean he didn't throw in any interceptions. He he didn't turn the football over.
speaker-0 (43:04)
But it just wasn't he wasn't a quarterback that you're like this is the guy that's gonna win the game.
speaker-1 (43:10)
Overall, who you feel like you know, it's not we have so many pieces around him that he can just do that. No, th they don't. Not even close. So they they they got a lot of work to do. I don't think it's gonna be I don't think Houston's doing what they did last year, you know, going from and three to thirteen wins before going into that New England game.
speaker-0 (43:33)
Keenan Allen, good day. six of sixty-three for a touchdown. He officially passed Andre Johnson for twelfth on the all time touchdown reception list. so felt a little felt a little good. and then there was a funny moment in the game. Ron Tolbert, head referee. he actually he yelled at his own crew. There was a a fumble on a kickoff that was clearly not a fumble.
And he yelled at his crew, he said, You guys better get your shit together on a hot mic. Hmm. Pretty funny. Yeah. Yeah. They need to. The the refs have been bad. I mean, listen, well, I'll bring it up in the in the New Orleans game. because I I will defend my my boy Tyler Shook till the end of time. Kansas City, Miami. Really not much here. Chiefs, take care of business. HN done. he was on my fantasy team.
I'm already owing three. It's it's probably over for me too, just like the Texans. but
speaker-1 (44:37)
Just really nothing. Maybe. on Chiefs Dolphins, you know, it's like I hate this because the ch like are the Chiefs back. It's hard to say because look, they beat Denver handily and and Denver's two and one. You look at that. But then you could say, look, week one almost you almost have to play that as like a separate thing, right? 'Cause look look at the what happened with the Rams and of course that was in Australia. And then it was eke out a win against the Colts.
speaker-0 (45:05)
Yeah.
speaker-1 (45:06)
and grind out a win against Miami. I don't know like the Chiefs are back to being like definite contenders, but I'm not ready to say, they're they're back. Like this is the the twenty twenty two, twenty three version of the Chiefs. Not not quite. Not quite.
speaker-0 (45:23)
Not
I ha I do have some bad news for you though. When the Chiefs start three and since twenty nineteen, they go to the Super Bowl.
speaker-1 (45:32)
Well, that's 'cause they've gone to the Super Bowl like every year except two, right?
speaker-0 (45:37)
But even but when they start three and it's not good.
speaker-1 (45:41)
Man, I remember back when I actually liked the Chiefs back in three with Trent Green, Priest Holmes, Tony Gonzalez. They started nine and and got waxed by the Colts in a game where the Colt neither team punted. You're too young, you were you wouldn't have remembered that.
speaker-0 (45:54)
Well the no punt game, I don't remember it, but I I am full aware fully aware.
speaker-1 (45:59)
freshman year of college, yes. So the Chi but the Chiefs, like they they're in it and but all of a sudden this game against the Raiders, you would have thought that's well this is easy
Now it's a battle of who can be four and Yeah. And that AFC West, well the Chargers count them out, but you got Denver two and one, Vegas three and Yeah, yeah. So all of a sudden it ain't the AFC worst.
speaker-0 (46:28)
Yeah. Giants, Titans. First game, full game in a world without Jackson Dart. We do have JJ McCarthy headed over to New York for a fifth round pick. Pretty hilarious. But Jameis Winston
Ye it was gross, it was you know, it w it was rainy, it wasn't good in in MetLife. this was a Brian Dayball revenge game, a Robert Sala stadium revenge game. That's a rare a rarity that we get. It was a stadium revenge game. I mean this was this was just a meh game. Like I really did not care about this game. considering I like defensive battles, this this was a bad offense battle.
There's a different there is a difference between defensive battle and bad offense battle. This was a bad offense battle. ski the this is my favorite stat from this game. Cam Scatabo rushed for sixty yards on the ground. He had seventy-four yards after contact.
speaker-1 (47:35)
I mean crazy. Yeah, it's wild. Yeah.
speaker-0 (47:40)
I'll repeat
it. I'll repeat it for the listener. Scadavou rushed for sixty total yards. He had seventy-four yards after contact. Just really bad. I mean, the Giants offensive line clearly doing absolutely nothing for for the Giants. And Cam Ward, big interception,
On the seven with twenty four seconds to go. They also had a big missed opportunity on fourth down on the Giants seven a little earlier in the game. Brian Da Brian Burns also headed to the IR. Big blow for an already banged up Giants team. I don't really have anything else on this. I don't really have faith in the Giants, whether it's JJ or or Jameis. but I've been wrong before and I was wrong about Deshaun so far. Titans, remember I said I believed in them?
I that was wrong too. That was really, really wrong. I'm I'm kinda sad about that.
speaker-1 (48:37)
Titan's giant. I just like the irony of the big boys. Titan? yeah.
speaker-0 (48:41)
Yeah, that's
true. And they both stink.
speaker-1 (48:44)
Yeah, they both suck. I well I'm I just like if the Giants can win without Jackson Dart and win ugly, I still think that'll be considered progress for John Harbaugh this year. Yeah, and and I disappointing for the Titans so far. We did think that they should take some strides. This is Cam Ward year year three. Year two.
speaker-0 (49:07)
No, no, year two. It w it is year two.
speaker-1 (49:11)
Okay. You gotta see some progress though, even in year two.
speaker-0 (49:14)
Yeah. Yeah, year two. Yeah. Yeah. Pittsburgh Cincy. This is the Mike this is a Mike Tomlin game. This was a total my and I didn't see it. I thought we would I I maybe thought the Mike Tomlin like it wasn't there, but it's still clearly in this locker room. Because home underdogs, Brown just went up. flag, fuck.
Might still be a touchdown. Could be twenty twenty one seven.
Steelers, home underdog, division rival coming in at one o'clock. and they just they found a way to win. I don't believe in the Steelers. This was a very I think this was a scheduled loss for Cincy. If if you're looking at the schedule, you can throw that in as this is an AFC North game. Going into Pittsburgh, we can we can write this in and this is an okay loss to have. Especially with Sincy.
Considering all the pressure that's been on them for the past few years with Joe Burrow, maybe the undefeated pressure, you don't want that. So you want to get the loss out of the way and and really just relax and say, Okay, we're we're gonna we're gonna play some good football down the stretch. again, the offense wasn't bad from Cincy whatsoever. It was just the defense. Defense definitely took a step back. They gave up four hundred and eleven total yards, to this Aaron Rodgers offense. That just really isn't great.
I love watching Darnell Washington. He's so massive. He's just he looks like a giant on a football field. He looks like a literal giant among those massive people. But again, this is a very AFC North football game. A forced fumble at the end to to clinch it up three. Very much an AFC North football game.
speaker-1 (51:02)
yeah, you you you called it with the Mike Talman game. It's like the spirit of him of like winning when you're not supposed to just to ruin someone else's Christmas.
speaker-0 (51:13)
Yes. And also just to get over five hundred, to not fall under five hundred. Right.
speaker-1 (51:18)
Yeah. Yeah. it just like they're not yeah. The Steelers they're the Steelers are the ultimate refusal to accept who they really are. They're not winning a Super Bowl. They're just fighting so hard to stay relevant.
speaker-0 (51:35)
Yeah. They just w they want a few important Sunday night football games where they compete. That's what they want.
speaker-1 (51:41)
Yeah. Yeah. They did run the ball to give that. Yeah, they did.
speaker-0 (51:45)
Jalen Warren.
speaker-1 (51:46)
Had to, yeah, defensively, so
speaker-0 (51:49)
apparently also Mike McCarthy told Aaron Rodgers to not throw Jalen Warren the football in the walkthroughs because of a sore shoulder. And then he just went out and put up 127 yards. That's that's toughness right there. I'll give that. That's that's AFC North football too. Washington, Seattle. Darnold still very I mean, he's coming off injury, he's rusty.
Thirty-one of forty-five, three seventy-nine, four touchdowns, two picks, including a pick six. Mariota was modest, but he had three touchdowns. Clearly the protecting the football, very important here. the commanders had three turnovers. Just a clearly it's I mean, Washington hasn't had a defense. They finally show up. They win. Washington needs a defense to show up. But this was cool. This was pretty cool to see Mariota win. It's salt and pepper hair.
We had Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota on the field at the same time in two thousand and twenty six. So yeah, we're we're living we're living in the past.
speaker-1 (52:52)
It's not Washington, Seattle. It's Seattle, Washington. Right? Yeah. I think I first of them the running the two teams combined ran 50 times for 126 yards. Nobody ran the ball well. I mean they tried the Washington ran it 32 times, but only for 82 yards. So I I love it. I I think I'm I'm happy for Mariota. You know, he seems like a good guy. He's been in the league a long time.
It Washington's in great shape with him as their backup. This is a guy that can play. He was drafted as what second overall and back in 15. And yeah. It's it's a beautiful thing. And Darnold, I he like he had two interceptions, he had a pick six, but then he threw for 379 yards and four touchdowns. Wasn't a guy just managing the game. it was a weird game. I mean, you would you would have thought if Washington was gonna win this game, it was gonna have to just suffocate Seattle with defense. You wouldn't have thought that
Commanders would win a shootout against
speaker-0 (53:54)
Even funnier, this was a weather game. There was a there was weather coming through and they they could not run the football. They only threw. So that's that's even funnier. This game made no sense.
speaker-1 (54:06)
Yeah, four thirty seven to two fifty eight.
speaker-0 (54:09)
Yeah. Overall. This snapped a 12 game Seattle Seahawk win streak coming into this game. Jackson Smith Jackson Smith Najigba became the second player to produce at least 120 yards receiving and a touchdown catch and each of his team's first three games in a season. Who was the other receiver to do that?
speaker-1 (54:32)
A hundred and twenty and a touchdown in the first three games of a season.
man.
speaker-0 (54:38)
Of the
first three.
It's very obvious. You you would no re Reggie not Reggie. Jerry Rice. I don't know.
speaker-1 (54:47)
Why
Jerry, Jerry said, Marvin Harrison is gonna be my other guest, but yeah, okay.
speaker-0 (54:52)
Jerry Rice, 1989 with San Francisco. Yeah, what have you know, you mentioned the running thing. Rashad White did have a big, big run to help run out the clock on third and nine, and then Mariota did it himself for nine on third and seven late in the game. So he did about nineteen.
speaker-1 (55:10)
Yeah, twenty yards. That means that the other thirty carries went for, let's see, fifty four yards or something. Yeah. So all right. But they but they made runs when they had to, yeah.
speaker-0 (55:22)
Yeah. I think that's actually good for the Colts, by the way, that the Commanders won. They won the bump game.
speaker-1 (55:29)
Right.
speaker-0 (55:30)
They
win the bump game. Now they gotta go to London and you know. Marcus Mariota, old old enemy of the Colts, by the way. He's seen the Colts a lot. Jacksonville in New England. Ooh. Drake May might need the schedule. He might need that schedule. This was bad.
speaker-1 (55:49)
You
know, you you 'cause you're never gonna say Jacksonville's good and maybe they're not. Maybe but New England does not look good. They look like the team everyone kinda said that they might be because last year with the schedule, they just didn't it it's just their offense just can't move. Just can't can't do it.
speaker-0 (56:09)
We had
one good play and it was a trick play on first and thirty, the New England offense did. It was a trick play on first and thirty because of penalties. It was just a a perfect encapsulation of the entire game. Just even like even when you're good, you're like, why are you at first and thirty? Why there's just no good reason to be there. May, the funny fumble. I don't know if you saw it when he went back to throw.
And the ball just kind of slipped out fucking A. There he goes. Rogers just threw a nice long play. No touchdown. but Drake May cocked back and the ball just slipped out of his hand like right here. He wasn't touched, did not no no defender in sight. It just slipped out of his hand and he lost the fumble. yeah, Rogers just got them into field goal range right before the half. That's amazing. and then Josh Hines Allen.
Is I don't know if this is real or not. I might have been like fake, you know, faked out or something, AI'd, something like that on social media. But he might be catching an assault charge from the ball boy at this game. Because Travis Hunter had his first career interception in this game. He caught it in the end zone, goes to do his dance, he spins the ball, is dancing in the corner in the end zone, the ball boy picks it up. Well, naturally, usually when a defender has their first interception or a player has their first touchdown.
They get to keep the football. Well, Heinz Allen goes to the ball boy and he's like, hey, give me the ball. The ball boy's like, no, this is not yours. He's not giving it to him. Allen grab kind of grabs the guy by the by the jersey and he's like trying to get to him. He's like, hey man, give me the ball. Give me the ball. The guy would not give up the football. He would not give up this football. And naturally they kind of tussle a little bit.
The Jaguars staffers come over and they're like, all right, like, get out of here. Like, don't don't get in trouble. Staffers are fighting with this guy for the football. Guy's still not giving up the football. He will not give up this football. Just yelling at these people. After the game, I don't know if it's true. I think he filed a a police report. Wow. With the Jacksonville police saying he he assaulted me. I was assaulted on the field. It's on camera. If that's true.
Softest human being ever. Major softness out of this. I mean, why are you fighting with an NFL player? Josh Hines Allen, who's massive. In the video, he is massive. He's just huge. And again, it's not about you, man. You're the ball boy. Just say, hey, I had a I had a six foot three, two hundred and fifty pound defender coming at me. I'm just gonna give him the ball and appease him.
Really weird, but felt very Jacksonville for that to happen. that was probably the most exciting thing that happened in that game. Cardinals forty niners. This is another one. I mean, I know it was a six point game. This is a bit of a backdoor cover here. Purdy. Purdy's the MVP right now. He just is. He's he's been great. He's been amazing. Four touchdowns. Rogers just got hit and we got another funny camera angle of him on the ground.
Arizona they hung around for a little bit, but it was it really always felt like San Francisco's San Francisco was in control.
speaker-1 (59:34)
yes, did you see in the receiving stats and I guess I I did see this play, greatest stat line in the history of football.
speaker-0 (59:42)
No
receptions, eighty yards and a touchdown.
speaker-1 (59:45)
Touchdown. Yes, it was a hook and lateral play. hook and lateral. It was I think it was on like the first drive, wasn't it? It was or was it the first?
speaker-0 (59:52)
First
or second drive, it was very early. Very early in the game.
speaker-1 (59:56)
And you talk about setting the tone for the game. Yeah. No catches for eighty yards. I I just that's all I can say about this game. Also f Fred Warner, seventeen tackles. He's back. Man, forty niners are just different with him in there. Yeah. They're just a different
speaker-0 (1:00:14)
Evans
Evans and Trent Williams both left this game as well. Purdy was
speaker-1 (1:00:19)
The
forty niners, they have to have seven injuries a year, of course. But yeah. Yeah.
speaker-0 (1:00:23)
It's a substation. Purdy was 15 of 27 for four touchdowns. Hit 15 completions, and four of them were a touchdown. That's pretty crazy, too. to Tampa, no delays in this one. but we do not have Baker Mayfield for a few weeks. Jalen, Jalen, Jalen Daniels. Not Jaden Daniels, Jalen Daniels is gonna be the quarterback in Tampa going forward.
please please fire Todd Bowles. What are we doing here? It's that I know people are gonna make excuses because Baker's hurt, but it it really doesn't matter. They're just not good. I don't know what to say. Well
speaker-1 (1:01:08)
They're getting exposed for being maybe being the team that they've always been. Same thing. Same thing. Yeah. And Minnesota just they keep winning ugly, kinda. I mean
speaker-0 (1:01:19)
Yeah.
speaker-1 (1:01:21)
Yeah. I I mean they they they had a good run to you know, they won going away against Green Bay in week one. Nine three over the Bears at twenty three sixteen. Just efficient, man. I I can't Kevin O'Connell, just a good coach.
Right? Very good. Good coach. I you know. I I I don't really Yeah, it's not that they don't have a pretty talented roster, but it just feels like they overachieve every year too.
speaker-0 (1:01:50)
It really makes you wonder about JJ McCarthy.
speaker-1 (1:01:53)
Why he struggled when all every other quarterback there is.
speaker-0 (1:01:55)
Got
Carson Wentz going out there and winning, I mean, basically winning two games. And Murray. We'll
speaker-1 (1:02:01)
Yeah, we'll already We'll see. We'll see about Murray.
speaker-0 (1:02:04)
see, but he's won he won another game. He won a game. I mean, a win is a win. It doesn't matter. A win is a win. The defense, Brian Flores, just I think he's gonna be the new Dr. Heat. He's blitzing all the time, and Baker had absolutely no time to throw the ball whatsoever.
I mean he was just and even when they even when he did have a little bit of time, it just didn't feel like there was anyone there for him to throw to. What happened to these guys?
speaker-1 (1:02:35)
I don't know, but I I I don't know how Brian Flores doesn't have a head coaching job, you know, because he he finished strong with Miami. That Miami team, though those Miami teams three years, they stunk and he got them to win a lot more games than they should have. And yet he keeps getting it done with Minnesota. Doesn't have a head coach him. He's kind of like he's gotta win some rings, obviously. But I well, I know he did, right? With New England, he w he was there.
A bit obviously through some of their so I take that back. I was thinking Spagnolo. I was saying he's kinda like getting the Spagnolo level. Well of course he has four rings. But yeah, Flores is, yeah, huge reason why the Vikings are winning too.
speaker-0 (1:03:16)
The the Vikings did not have a drive into the red zone.
speaker-1 (1:03:20)
No need to. They nine first downs.
speaker-0 (1:03:23)
Yeah.
speaker-1 (1:03:23)
There was there was teams combined for four hundred and seventy three yards of offense. Yeah, it wasn't like a fun game to watch, but the Vikings don't care. They like it. And they up thirty nine in week one, so it's not like they can't score points.
speaker-0 (1:03:38)
Yeah. Miles Price also, 86 yard punt return for a touchdown. The first punt return for a touchdown for the Vikings since 2016. He said he dreamed about it. this week. He had a dream that he had returned a punt for a touchdown. Is that it may maybe that's a little that's a little bit like, I did it, I'm gonna say this, but hell, who cares? That's pretty sick if you did that.
speaker-1 (1:04:03)
Well I mean only if he ha knew the exact yardage that he was gonna get too. Yeah. But yeah. Remember when the bu I mean it took the Bucks franchise over 30 years to ever run a kickoff back for a touchdown. So they
speaker-0 (1:04:16)
I did not know that.
speaker-1 (1:04:17)
did they did it in Gruden's first ever game in a preseason game, they did it the year they won the Super Bowl. But then it took him over 30 years to do it in a regular regular game, regular season game or po or postseason for that matter.
speaker-0 (1:04:29)
When did they do it?
speaker-1 (1:04:30)
Two thousand and seven, I believe it was Michael Spurlock was the guy that did it. Interesting. Yeah. Fun little bucks factoid for you right there.
speaker-0 (1:04:40)
Yeah. to the Raiders and Saints. Kirk Cousins is three and But I have I have some issues with the NFL refs. The fumble that Shuck had was a fumble. I'm not debating that it was a fumble. I absolutely believe by rule that's a fumble. Tyler Shuck said his hand was moving forward. It was it was loose as it was as he was bringing it forward. It was absolutely a fumble.
But if that is called a fumble, then there is absolutely no way the Jared Goff incomplete pass is called a fumble. I mean, he clearly Tyler Shuck had the intention to throw it forward, so it really shouldn't matter because they said Jared Goff had the intention to throw it forward, even though the ball was thrown backwards. But they called that an incomplete pass and they're calling this a fumble. So I the NFL needs to figure out what a fumble is.
Because I can get I guarantee I can tell you right now the Jared Goff incomplete pass was a fumble. The ball was thrown backwards. Quarterbacks throw the ball backwards, and every once in a while, those passes are dropped and then they are picked up and run for a touchdown because they were thrown backwards, because that is the definition of a fumble. So it's ridiculous, it's insane, but the Saints had a lot of issues with ball control on Sunday, anyways. I don't think they were winning this game.
I think on one drive I watched them bobble the football three times on three separate plays. I I know Alvin Kamara bobbled on a screen pass. there was another bobbled handoff, and I can't remember the other one. looked like a very young football team. They looked very young. They were in this game. They had two chances at the end of this game to come back and win. they were down eight. They had two turnovers on the final two drives of the game. Chris Olave had his second hundred-yard game. Brock Bowers.
First game of the year, ten for one sixteen and a touchdown off injury. He is immediately back. He's just immediately a threat. just crazy to see him come back like that. the Saints blew an eleven point lead as well. So seeing
speaker-1 (1:06:50)
Yeah.
speaker-0 (1:06:51)
the Raiders be able to come from behind, I think, is encouraging for Raiders fans.
speaker-1 (1:06:55)
This is the this week coming up, if if the Raiders are for real, they beat the Chiefs and Kirk Cousins, you know, I like to rip on him. He really hasn't done anything in the postseason. I mean what wasn't one game against ironically the Saints, actually twenty nineteen playoffs. But he does have a knack for making you believe in the regular season and having these uplifting moments and right now you can't aid him. I'm
speaker-0 (1:07:21)
Plus he's just so nice. You can't hate Easy
to root for, you know.
speaker-1 (1:07:26)
The greatest salesman on earth. He's getting all these teams to pay him a ton of money, but no, you know, look, he's puts up pretty good numbers. He just he just doesn't put up what they pay him. You know what I mean? Yeah. I I don't know his exact contract now with the Raiders, but Raiders look like maybe it's the Tom Brady effect. Maybe Brady's handprints are now starting to show up on this Raiders team. And yeah, Brock Bowers, Kobe Dean had a huge game on defense. Like they're
Yeah, Sa you're right. Saints are they're they're learning how to win. This was this was one of those if they're gonna be that team, they take this as like a teachable moment, learn from it, learn how to close games. You can see that they're they're growing. Shuck I mean, like four touchdowns. Not like he didn't play well, but yeah. Gotta figure out you gotta you gotta figure out how to how to make those plays in the fourth quarter and not in the first three. So
speaker-0 (1:08:23)
Yeah. Felt like a very young, capable team that just like you said, don't know how win. Rams, Broncos. So apparently now the defense does not have an equal right to the football based on the DPI that was called, that wasn't even shouldn't have even been defensive pass interference in general, but it was interception.
speaker-1 (1:08:46)
Right. I mean really nice play, yeah.
speaker-0 (1:08:49)
Just insane this is this was it. The I couldn't believe that I was fighting for the Rams too. I couldn't believe that I was like, Wow, the Rams they're getting fucked here. This isn't fair. But I was because that was just bad. Really poor poor officiating.
speaker-1 (1:09:06)
Well if they I think they mention it on the on the broadcast too about, you know, sh the irony of Sean Payton against the Rams, you know, like twenty eighteen, the the crazy two non calls on Tommy Lee Lewis there. So
speaker-0 (1:09:20)
Well
and and the other funny part was the Jared Goff thing in week one against New Orleans.
speaker-1 (1:09:28)
Right right. Yep.
speaker-0 (1:09:29)
'Cause Jerry Goff was in that NFC title game.
speaker-1 (1:09:32)
Comes back to that twenty eighteen championship game, yeah. And this was I I think I love seeing LA fail in anything, especially the super team Rams. Obviously Nakua didn't play and Garrett didn't play. So you never put an asterisk on anything in the NFL. You try not to. I mean the the Rams still ran out a pretty darn good football team. And apparently Matthew Stafford spitting on the fifty two eighty logo too. I don't know. And they somebody brought that up and that he also was
Yeah, like and what about the time he didn't show any remorse when that woman fell off the stage? Trying to make him out to be some monster. I don't think he's a bad guy. But
speaker-0 (1:10:10)
What did
a what woman fell off a stage?
speaker-1 (1:10:14)
you don't remember this was during the Rams Super Bowl parade in in early twenty two and
speaker-0 (1:10:20)
you know what?
speaker-1 (1:10:20)
spine, yeah, actually fell off the the platform there and you know, there was a video where Stafford kinda just looks like, Yeah, I hope she's okay and walks away or so. Yeah, I mean, I think they made it out to be I think he was just drunk and didn't realize what happened, obviously.
speaker-0 (1:10:35)
And I'm sure there were people running towards her and he was like, I am not
to help this person right
speaker-1 (1:10:40)
capable of yeah yeah I also
don't want to be accused of missing her off the stage. Yeah. So but the but yeah that but this was a gritty win for the Broncos. And Bo Nix's numbers were modesty through a bad interception.
speaker-0 (1:10:54)
I think Nyx likes going down.
speaker-1 (1:10:57)
He li I said this to Bobby earlier tonight. I said he likes he plays his best football with his back against the wall. Now you don't wanna, you know, wait for that or rely on that, but that is a great trait for any quarterback to have. You'd rather be that than than the other way around. he had the rushing touchdown that was taken away, and then they had the j and I remember I was watching with my dad. I Don't just don't jump over the pile. Only bad things can happen and Nick's went ahead and did it anyway and
Guess he knows better than you know, they know better than I do. But yeah, so it was a gritty win for Denver. Think about how the season started for them, week one, blown out in prime time by the Chiefs. they bounced back, had to, you know, and beating Jacksonville, you know, say what you want. I know you like to rip Jacksonville. It's still that was not, you know, it's not like that was a cakewalk game. You know, that was a team that came in and waxed them last year. It's still a team that's coming off a thirteen win season. They win that game, they get the Rams, they get down sixteen nothing.
You know, they don't score points. This was a little reminiscent of that crazy Giants comeback last year. Right? They had the toy, it was, you know, not quite the same 26, nothing. But this is you know, I think for the Broncos, like there are a lot of questions about what was last year a lot of luck, because they won what 14 games and all these these close wins and comebacks, and then they get blown out and it's like easy to say, well, yeah, clearly all luck. And then you look at the last two weeks, they're kind of showing that like that, maybe that wasn't a fluke.
They they're not a great, great football team, but they're good and they have grit and I think they're gonna they're gonna hang around this race all year.
speaker-0 (1:12:31)
You'll like this stat. Stafford was thirty of fifty five for three ninety. thirty two first half passes, which is the most of his career. But he also now leads all NFL quarterbacks in pick six's throne.
He is now at the top of the list for most pick sixes of all time. So You like that one. You like that one a little bit.
speaker-1 (1:12:55)
Yeah, yeah.
speaker-0 (1:12:56)
And I it it was it was kinda perfect that Hufunga made the interception at the end of the game to to wrap it up after the pick six that you know put him into the game.
speaker-1 (1:13:06)
you know played a lot of games against the Rams when he was with San Francisco.
speaker-0 (1:13:09)
Yeah, and it but it did show I f I felt like it did show that the Rams they're not they're not gonna die. Just because they're one and two doesn't mean they're gonna die because Stafford came right back out. He came right back out after that pick six, drove them down the field quick, touchdown immediately. It was it was like, all right, like we're we're struggling a little bit. We're not that bad.
speaker-1 (1:13:32)
There's no panic there. I mean, they without Nakua, without Garrett, they still outgained him four eighty two to two fifty seven. You know, I mean they had thirteen penalties for ninety one yards. That's that's not a Sean McVeigh
speaker-0 (1:13:45)
That kills you.
speaker-1 (1:13:45)
team there. I mean that they they had a lot of costly ones. They had one they had a penalty right just before the last play of the game, didn't they? They had a
speaker-0 (1:13:53)
Knocked him back five.
speaker-1 (1:13:55)
false nineteen. Right, exactly. So, you know, you and Denver's a very tough place to play, obviously, but
Maybe that's why Stafford spit on the mile high logo, but still I don't think there's I I know they're one and two. You almost throw away that first game. Losing a close game without your two best weapons in Denver is not like, my god, the sky is falling. They're gonna be fine.
speaker-0 (1:14:19)
They kind of fit it kind of feels like the Dodgers, where it's like, it doesn't really matter how we look in the regular season. Just get in. Just get into the postseason. Obviously, they don't want to have to play an extra game. They want the bye. But God forbid they don't and they struggle a little bit to start. Just hit your stride late. Get in. Then we'll see. Because that's gonna be the Rams. The playoffs should be the Rams. Not this. This is not the Rams in my opinion.
speaker-1 (1:14:47)
True.
But the but the Rams next two games, Philly and Buffalo, so
speaker-0 (1:14:52)
Well the Philly is a put up or shut up for both of and that's a good spot to move into the Monday night game. Put up or shut up for Philly. Philly looks bad. Really,
speaker-1 (1:15:01)
Yeah.
speaker-0 (1:15:02)
really bad. what's the score of the Philly's game by the
speaker-1 (1:15:06)
Five to one. Bottom six.
speaker-0 (1:15:09)
Philly, here's a nice little stat that'll make us feel good. the the Eagles are the only NFL team in the Super Bowl era to have a game with under fifty offensive plays, under two hundred and fifty yards, ten plus penalties, three plus giveaways, zero takeaways, and zero sacks. Philly has zero takeaways on the season. In the first three games of the year, they have not had a turnover on defense.
Con that's the most concerning aspect of this Phillies er not Phillies, Eagles team. is that they just can't take the ball away and any successful team
speaker-1 (1:15:45)
If you want them to win. Yeah, I know. It's they're no to me they're they peaked in twenty four. And I don't know what it what happened to Saquon Barkley, like he just isn't
speaker-0 (1:15:59)
Four carries for nine yards in the second half.
speaker-1 (1:16:01)
Serviceable average running back all of a sudden. This guy was I you know, like
speaker-0 (1:16:06)
It's
the line. It's the offensive line. Yeah. Well, they they like the the head co their offensive line coach left in the offseason and it's night and day. Clear night and day from this offensive line.
speaker-1 (1:16:19)
But this was a Case Keenum revenge game for twenty seventeen.
speaker-0 (1:16:24)
I was just gonna say that. I love that you got that. I love that.
It
speaker-1 (1:16:28)
Yeah, yeah. I mean
speaker-0 (1:16:29)
was the number one thing on my list of for this game.
speaker-1 (1:16:33)
He also had a rushing touchdown. Like the incredible this guy, talk about nine lives, cat or rat what what what Chris Berman used to call Wayne Fonts the the new Ras Putin. Just can't kill him, can't get rid of him. Case Keenum and I had a good feeling about the Bears in this game. This was a spot that Philly was ready to lose after the first two weeks. The Bears, it was such a, you know, it's such a high in week one, fifty-nine points, such a low in week two.
With three point it just felt like I feel like if Caleb Williams had started this game, the Bears may not have won. You just get that sense that like the energy that Keenum brought that that that playing that underdog card now actually was a big boost for Chicago.
speaker-0 (1:17:18)
Yeah.
speaker-1 (1:17:19)
So turns everything around, yeah.
speaker-0 (1:17:24)
Yeah, Keenum's stat line was twenty-four for thirty-four, two forty seven, three touchdowns, and that rush touchdown that he had. I think he I think he kinda I think he called an audible there. I think that was him. He was like, I want to do this because it was it was gutsy. That was a gutsy, gutsy little play call. But Ben this was a big Ben Johnson game, in my opinion.
speaker-1 (1:17:48)
Big dancing game, yeah.
speaker-0 (1:17:50)
big Johnson game.
this this was a a you guys are doubting me. Alright. Like I'm gonna show you my offense is still still really, really good. now it's not saying that this is a Caleb Williams is a system quarterback by any means. He's not. He makes that offense better, but this was Ben Johnson flexing his muscles, saying, We're just really my my offense is really good and you guys are doubting me. So I'm gonna flex all over you.
Yeah, the Eagles now rank twenty third in points and twenty fourth in yards per game. So that makes you feel good too. All right, in week four, we're gonna do our picks rapid fire. we won't I would have said I liked the Browns on Thursday night football, anyways. So I would have said I I picked them to win. They're up twenty one ten right now. who would who did you pick, I guess, before the game started?
speaker-1 (1:18:46)
I would have taken Cleveland, at least with the points.
speaker-0 (1:18:49)
Apparently I saw this stat earlier. Cleveland has a they're like eight and one on Thursday night football, and the Steelers are and nine on Thursday night football on the road in a divisional game. Sounds like an ESPN stat, but they don't win divisional games on the road on Thursday night football. So like the Browns. nine thirty in London. The Indianapolis Colts and the Washington Commanders. give me the Commanders because
I have no faith at all, whatsoever.
speaker-1 (1:19:24)
did they did these teams like recently play overseas or something? Am I making that up? Or maybe I don't know. They've they've both
speaker-0 (1:19:31)
The
Colts played Atlanta overseas last
speaker-1 (1:19:34)
I
think Washington played Miami there. Maybe that
speaker-0 (1:19:38)
They
played in Germany. Germany.
speaker-1 (1:19:40)
Whatever. It's all the same to me. I'll take the commanders. I don't really know. I don't feel strongly about either team. I'm not co I mean, but Washington's coming off a big win. I think they can carry that momentum just enough.
speaker-0 (1:19:54)
Yeah. Bills Patriots in Buffalo. Buffalo seven point favorites.
speaker-1 (1:20:01)
until New England shows me it can score points, I'm I'm taking Buffalo to cover.
speaker-0 (1:20:06)
Yeah, give me Buffalo at home E in the new stadium, first first big divisional game in the state new stadium. Gimme Buffalo. They're gonna be
speaker-1 (1:20:15)
That
was a a split.
speaker-0 (1:20:19)
That
was different Patriots team. Completely different. Jets Bears in Chicago. Chicago, three and a half point favorites.
speaker-1 (1:20:28)
give it this
speaker-0 (1:20:30)
I know. It's a tough one.
speaker-1 (1:20:31)
is a hard one 'cause is Case Keenum gonna really die?
speaker-0 (1:20:35)
Is he even gonna start or is it Tyson Bajan?
speaker-1 (1:20:39)
All right, I'll say this. If Keenum starts, the Bears win. If Bajon starts, the Jets win. How about that for me? Extra pick.
speaker-0 (1:20:46)
I'm gonna go I'm gonna go with the Jets either way. I'm going to be I'm gonna be wrong. I know the Jets, this is what the Jets do. They try and like loop, you know, reel ya in and then kill ya when you believe in them, but I'm gonna do it anyways. give me the Jets. Jags Bengals, battle of number one picks. Those these were the back to back were these the back to back
Number one picks, Burrow and Lawrence? Or did they have a year in between?
Bro was twenty twenty. Yeah. And Lawrence was twenty one 'cause of yeah, he was twenty one 'cause that was the Urban Meyer year that the Colts lost and he was yeah. in Cincinnati. This one is in Cincy. Two and a half point favorites Cincy.
speaker-1 (1:21:34)
I I like the Bengals.
speaker-0 (1:21:35)
Yeah. Yeah.
speaker-1 (1:21:37)
Yeah, I was saying I like Cincy in this one.
speaker-0 (1:21:43)
I I will never in good faith pick the Jags, so I'm I'm gonna roll with Cynthia. I mean, this is a big rebound game for them too. you know, especially a tough loss to Pittsburgh. You get to be home now. Give me the Bengals here. Cardinals Giants. Ew. Ugh. In in Metley.
Arizona's two and a half. Two and a half point favorites.
speaker-1 (1:22:10)
I'm taking the Giants as a home dog. I'm a believer.
speaker-0 (1:22:14)
You know, the Cardinals have looked competitive and and the offense can move the ball, Jacoby Brissett can move the ball. I'm I'm gonna roll with the Cardinals on the road here. I like I like the Cardinals. Rams, Eagles, the big one. One o'clock too. This is a kind of a weird start time. you would think they would give this one the the four twenty five. Rams are three and a half point favorites in Philadelphia.
speaker-1 (1:22:39)
Rams had the Eagles on the ropes last year and then lost on that blocked field goal return for a touchdown. This is
speaker-0 (1:22:45)
This is
speaker-1 (1:22:46)
a get right that was week three. So th this is they played early last year too. This is a Rams get right game. This is a work kicked off or lose yeah.
speaker-0 (1:22:58)
Full Rams get right game here. Packers Bucks in Tampa. There's a lot of games in Tampa to start the year. They're playing a lot of home games. Green Bay, three and a half point favorites.
speaker-1 (1:23:12)
Yeah, you would think that the schedule makers would avoid that. They would want more Bucs home games later in the year, not during hurricane season. Well, Bucks going with the back I when a team plays its third straight game at home, I I'm gonna take the Bucks. Don't ask me why.
speaker-0 (1:23:32)
Yeah, just
speaker-1 (1:23:32)
Yeah.
speaker-0 (1:23:32)
the Packers really give me no inspiration. The Bucks
speaker-1 (1:23:36)
They stink. Yeah, they look so lifeless.
speaker-0 (1:23:38)
aren't 0-4.
speaker-1 (1:23:40)
Yeah. I three straight home games, like they get a lot of questionable players questionable, but you know, there's a few for Green Bay also. I'm I'm in Bay of Pigs, give me the bucks.
speaker-0 (1:23:52)
It will be Jalen Daniels, but I I think they can still get it done. Green Bay.
speaker-1 (1:23:57)
Well
the lead needed a a Jay Daniels starting, so they did.
speaker-0 (1:24:05)
we pick Titans, Ravens in the Maryland spotlight. Cowboys, Texans, the battle for Texas. Houston three point favorites. I really like Dallas here.
speaker-1 (1:24:15)
Yeah, me too.
speaker-0 (1:24:16)
That's I feel like the Cowboys offense against the Texans defense is a lot more capable than the Texan offense against a bad Cowboys defense. but the Texans offense, I mean, they they put up two hundred and something yards on the Colts defense. so the Cowboys can't be much worse. And the Cowboys can score a hell of a lot more points than the Colts offense can. Dolphins
speaker-1 (1:24:41)
Yeah, yeah.
speaker-0 (1:24:45)
This is a gross one. Dolphins Vikings in Minnesota.
speaker-1 (1:24:49)
Yeah, in the four five window, the lone four five game.
speaker-0 (1:24:53)
Why would they do that?
speaker-1 (1:24:55)
Brian Flores revenge game. I think the Viking defense suffocates the crap out of Miami's offense.
speaker-0 (1:25:03)
I agree. I think it's blitz every play. Blitz every single
speaker-1 (1:25:07)
Three vibes, you know, they win. So I well then again if that was thirteen three I guess Minnesota would not cover is someone I'm looking at here. But I I I just think Minnesota's defense is gonna smother Miami. However that's
speaker-0 (1:25:21)
It's the remember the the remember the titans. You blitz all night.
speaker-1 (1:25:26)
Yeah.
speaker-0 (1:25:26)
That's what Flores is gonna be saying. probably the game of the week, I would say. Chiefs Raiders Battle of Undefeated's here.
speaker-1 (1:25:36)
And I so badly wanna take the Raiders. You know, and
speaker-0 (1:25:41)
Kansas
City's four and a half.
speaker-1 (1:25:43)
I actually would take the points with the Raiders as the as they quote safer bet, but I think the Chiefs I this feels like like a Mahomes last minute, like we're showing you who's boss at the end. He's gonna out Kirk Cousins, Kirk Cousins. Gonna be some drama here. It's the Chiefs in Vegas where they won the Super Bowl in overtime. It's it's it's Chiefs by a field goal.
speaker-0 (1:26:08)
I'm gonna zig where you zag. Give me the Raiders. Give me the Raiders to win at home. 4-0. Kirk Cousins. I feel like the Chiefs they they gotta have a little bit of a little bit of a down spot. and I feel like this is the moment, and then they'll play each other later in the year, and the Chiefs will be Yeah, we were fucking around. We're we're gonna win this game.
speaker-1 (1:26:33)
Yeah. Yeah.
speaker-0 (1:26:35)
Give me the Raiders. I want the Raiders. Broncos Niners, another big one here. Super Bowl rematch. San Francisco three point home favorites.
speaker-1 (1:26:46)
That feels well, I mean, Denver's solid, but I feel like Denver had an emotional game. There's there's gotta be a letdown coming. I I just like the way the Niners are going right now. I I'm gonna take the Niners.

Yeah, Brock Purdy feels pretty indestructible. I would I would actually kind of like Denver plus three here, though. I could see a very this could be another very close one. I would I would be close to taking Denver plus three. Chargers, Seahawks, Seattle, seven point favorites. Give me everything of Seattle.
speaker-1 (1:27:22)
yeah, it it's funny you go to you go to season leaders and it shows Drew Locke. they are bad, but there's you know there's gonna be a week where they win when they're not supposed to. Don't think this'll be it, but I just have a feeling they're gonna keep it close. I do. I don't know why. And they'll I'm sure they'll charger it, but I have a feeling for some reason
They're gonna keep it close. I I don't know why it just like I I don't know what it is about it, but give me the points with the Chargers.
speaker-0 (1:27:59)
Yeah, maybe the points. Maybe the points. Backdoor cover. I don't know why this game's on Sunday night football. Lions, Panthers, Detroit three and a half point favorites.
speaker-1 (1:28:14)
I don't know, man. I I It
speaker-0 (1:28:17)
This feels like a Panther spot to me.
speaker-1 (1:28:18)
does. It does. I I'm I'm gonna take the Panthers. The Lions have just been so up and down. Well, let's don't say up and down over three games, but it just even in those games they've been up and down. Every quarter of football they've played, it's been it's back and forth. I I thirty
speaker-0 (1:28:34)
One point in every one though.
speaker-1 (1:28:36)
Yeah. So then Carolina will win thirty two to thirty one. How about that?
speaker-0 (1:28:40)
Yeah, there you go. and then Monday night, another Falcons primetime spot. Tyler Shuck versus Michael Penix, New Orleans two and a half point home favorites. I think they are honoring the like Hurricane Katrina. This is the or Steve Gleason. I'm sorry, they're honoring Steve Gleason in this game. because this is I think we're right around the anniversary of his block.
speaker-1 (1:29:09)
yeah, yeah. So this is
This is gonna be yeah. Well, do you believe that the Saints are gonna bounce back? 'Cause I do.
speaker-0 (1:29:19)
I th Atlanta's not I think Green Bay stinks. I don't think Atlanta is as bad as they've been, but they're not as good as they were Thursday night.
speaker-1 (1:29:28)
If one of these teams has to be two and two, it should be the Saints. I got burned. I was really high on the Saints against the Raiders and they they let me down. this is second of three straight home games for New Orleans. I I feel like this has got to be New Orleans. Come on, prime time again. Atlanta. No.
speaker-0 (1:29:47)
Yeah. I got six. Give me Tyler Shuck. Four touchdowns. 450 yards. Just tearing
speaker-1 (1:29:55)
No
speaker-0 (1:29:56)
the Saints or the Falcons up. Four fifty, a hundred on the ground. It's gonna be it's gonna be a bloodbath. It's Tyler Shuck's arrival to the NFL. I'll say that.
speaker-1 (1:30:11)
Travis Etienne put on injured reserve. They're gonna have to figure out where they're gonna get their you know, is it gonna be
speaker-0 (1:30:19)
At the MVP of the league here.
speaker-1 (1:30:21)
Yeah. But this is a game where he's gonna have to do some extra work because they may not have probably won't have that production from the run game.
speaker-0 (1:30:29)
Yeah, they're they're they're struggling right now. But in a few weeks when they get all those guys back, look out for the Saints.
speaker-1 (1:30:36)
Nine guys on the injury report. Maybe I shouldn't be so high on the Saints. It's
speaker-0 (1:30:40)
Doesn't matter. It's Tyler Shuck. He's gonna make it happen. He's gonna make he's gonna shuck around. If you shuck around with the Saints, you're gonna find out. So All right. Well that is a good spot to move into the next segment. The MOB Wildcard series is wrapping up, well it's already wrapped up by the time this episode is out, but it's wrapping up tonight when we're recording this. Yeah. And for those of you that missed it, the Phillies won game three, five to three.
On a walk-off home run by Bryce Harper Grand Slam that you all saw happened tonight. Sure. But shot for three other teams, the wild card round ended on Wednesday night, including the Boston Red Sox. To I I gotta be honest with you, John, I didn't watch any other series. I only watched this one. So I really can't say much on it. Go check out the cycle if you want a full breakdown of all the series. We're just gonna talk Red Sox Yankees here.
My favorite part was every single starter the Astros ran out got fucking bounced like that. That was the that was the most lopsided series for me. I did I did watch I did watch game two of of Astros White Sox. I'm sorry. I did watch game two of that one. White Sox that was yeah, we'll we'll go into that one first. You'll hear the Red Sox one. It was it was actually quite encouraging to see the White Sox. They kinda let they let the Astros back into it.
And then they put their foot down and they said, no, we're not, we're not letting you we're not playing this game. We're not playing this game. I feel like the Astra or the White Sox kind of have that that run feel. Like the team that they cause they got Mirkami and Mirkami's so exciting. You know, they they've been horrible the last two years, and all of a sudden they had this turnaround. And it just feels like they have the energy. They have all the energy right now.
Maybe it's just because we haven't seen Cleveland play in like three, four days. but Cleveland just I think the White Sox. I think it's the Whites. The White Sox get me excited. The Rays don't get me excited, the Yankees don't get me excited like the White Sox do. Well, here's my take on it. You have the Rays and Guardians are preparing for two completely different teams. The White Sox are the momentum team. They're the we already outdid all of our expectations.
Let's just go play free. And they know the Guardians. the Rays are getting a Yankees team that is coming off their little mini World Series. When the Red Sox and Yankees meet up, that becomes like a championship of its own. And the Yankees handle business. Now they've got to go on and continue. Remember, yeah, we've still got three more series to win if we want to go all the way.
and they were gonna run into a much better team in the divisional round than they're gonna run into in the ALCS if they get there. so that worries me if I was a Yankees fan. I wouldn't want to see the Rays. I would much rather see the Guardians than the Rays in this spot. And that is that is my problem with the playoff format. I think that is something that needs to be fixed in in the CBA in the negotiations coming up. the fact that and everyone said it, I think it's a pretty consensus thing. The fact that you had the
Two, three best records in the American League playing each other in the wild card round to go and play the number one seed. Like the number one seed is supposed to be rewarded with the worst record. That's how every sport does it. They are rewarded with the worst record. I think that is the a perfectly fair thing. I think that's perfectly fine. You were the best team, especially in baseball, to be the best team in a 162 game season, that more than the NFL.
More than the the NBA, more than the NHL. That you deserve it more than anything, because you were the best team for a hundred and sixty-two games. How many ups and downs have we seen from teams? And you were you came out on top. And but the Rays get rewarded with the second best team in the American League? I mean, that's just that's that's fucked up. They should be seeing the White Sox. That's the fair thing. I also have a huge problem with the all three games at home.
Because the White Sox or the White Sox were a better team than the Astros. They had a better season and they have to play all of their games in the first round in Houston. Houston got rewarded with three home games potentially for an eighty one and eighty one record. That's absurd. and I understand it it it would stretch out the travel. Well, you know what? Do a day game, have a night game, and then another night game. I'm sorry. They play they play gate they do that all the time.
Yeah. Where they have back to back and they have to travel. That happens. Tough shit. It happens. That's why you're playing in the wild card round. With the Padres and Cubs, that's a long travel. That's a long flight. So you set that one up as day game, travel at night, play the next game at night. With the Red Sox in Boston, you could take a fucking bus if you had to. Boom, boom. Yeah. Boom. Real easy. same thing with
Atlanta and Philadelphia. I mean it's a what a an hour and a half flight, so each team can get at least one. Part of the reward of making the playoffs is playing a playoff game in front of your home fans. It doesn't make sense to have a f a three game series in one team stadium to me. It just seems silly. Yeah.
you wanna talk some you wanna talk some Red Sox now? I'm dying to talk some Red Sox. I I'm gonna I'm gonna get ahead of your take. I'm gonna I'm gonna steal your take from you.
That was the worst playoff series I think I've seen from any team ever. I can't unless there was like a weird NL series at some point. But again, like it w it was it they were all games until the Red Sox pulled their starter. They were close games, but but it didn't even matter because they couldn't score a run. They I mean you're shut out in what, like was it twenty seven straight innings? Did that
Is that the final number? I'm dating back to the last playoffs. I'm dating back to the last playoffs too, because they were shut out to end to end the season last year. And then I can't remember how many innings they were shut out in in game two. but it was like twenty seven some straight innings, twenty five straight innings of no runs. Just
I mean, and Wilson Contreras hits the home run and he takes that long, slow trot, and obviously Red Sox fans were excited. We're like, holy shit, we're we're gonna do it. And then And they gave up six runs immediately after that. I mean, Eric Miller I'm I'm sorry. Grady Little got fired for for for almost the same thing. Grady Little got fired. Basically, I mean, they said he wasn't fired for for leaving Pedro in too long. Listen.
I will personally, unless the unless the pitcher is clearly wild, especially your ace, I will never be upset if you leave your ace in the game. Pedro Martinez is was one of the gr at the time he was the best pitcher in baseball. He's one of the greatest to ever do it as a pitcher. I would never blame Grady Little for saying, Yeah, go back out for the eighth. Especially against the New York Yankees. I'm sorry. Sue me. I just Pedro says I'm good, then he's good.
He's fucking good because he's Pedro Martinez. You listen to him. Sonny Gray, one of the better one of the best pitchers in the American League this year. I'm sorry, if he says he's good, let him finish. He gave up what what was the situation? It was two sa did he give up two singles? He'd given up the home run. But then I think it would maybe back to back singles. I'm sorry. He's one of the best pitchers. You're telling me you go to Eric Miller? Eric Miller?
By the way, both Peyton Tole and Sonny Gray went four point two innings. He pulled both of them with two outs in the fifth inning. So you made and brought in the same reliever. Peyton Tolley comes out, Eric Miller comes in with one out left in the fifth. Sonny Gray comes out, Eric Miller comes out in with one out left in the fifth. Now, Eric Miller in the first game gave up two hits in a in a home run.
second game, I don't think he had that much damage done against him, but it it's just the fact that it's the same situation. He got gave up no, it gave up two hits. coming off of Sonny, coming for Sonny Gray. So I I think they were attributed to Sonny, but it was I think it was two more runs. Yeah. Because so same thing. Miller gave up two hits coming in in the fifth after you pull your starter.
I also thought equally egregious. I don't remember what inning it was, but it was a sixth in game one. Jaron Duran drew a walk, two out of fourth, drew a walk against Schlitler, and Jaron Duran is not having a good season, but one thing he can do is steal second. Let the man steal second. For the love of God, get a guy in scoring position. Don't and then you end the inning with Jaron Duran strand on first base.
Which is no different than risking a steal and getting him thrown out. You know, it's the same situation. You didn't score a run either way. And two outs in the fourth, you need to move a base runner over. You're not gonna manufacture a run that way if you aren't getting some somebody in scoring position. I just thought it was a a disaster class of game management in multiple situations by your boy.
I I didn't you know my opinion on extending Tracy. it was the top of the fifth, by the way. you know my opinion on extending Tracy. I I think it was a horrible I I did not think it was good at all. He's had two good months. really two good months. I mean, let's round up. Maybe it was a month and a half. Two good months. They were the worst offensive team in base at least in the American League, if not in baseball. I can't remember what the stat was. They were batting like a the team was batting two seventeen.
In the month of September. I thought, I mean, I hate backing into the playoffs, but I was like, you know what? I remember 2021, they backed into the playoffs. They they played this, like, or maybe they played this crazy game against against the Nationals. And they were horrible. They were just they kind of just snuck in. And then they went on the run. And I was like, okay, well, this is the perfect time to do it now. Like you're playing the Yankees, go on a run now. They they didn't look like they cared that it was the Yankees.
I I have never seen a Red Sox team be more apathetic about playing the Yankees. They were like, yeah, just another game. Just another game. I'm sorry, it's the Yankees. This is not just another game. This is the greatest rivalry in in baseball or in sports. Just piss poor performance. Everyone just seemed, again, apathetic, like, whatever. We're just happy to be here. That type of thing. And you get embarrassed. You get absolutely embarrassed. Now
I did see this Red Sox fan page write this long rant about I hope the Yankees win the World Series, so you know, it maybe they care a little bit more. I was like, fuck you, dude. Fuck you. Like I I love the Red Sox so much, I want to criticize them. I'm still gonna root for them because I do hear these fans 'cause like, especially Colts fans, for some reason there's like these weird Colts fans that are like, stop being so negative about the Colts. You're not a real fan if you're negative about Like
No, it's pattern recognition. It's pattern recognition. It's that I want them to win. So of course I'm gonna be harsh on them. You don't care about them because you're like, yay, yay! They're on the field. They made it on the field. You don't give a shit about them. You're just happy to see them in the uniform. That's it. You're just a little baby who's like, yay, yay, I just wanted to see them. Yay. Yeah. So I I want to win. Sorry. Yeah, I want to win.
I definitely want to win. That's like the ultimate goal of every single franchise. But this is a nightmare ail s ALDS for me. There's no winning here. I would ro obviously I would obviously I'm rooting for the Rays in this one. but I really want the White Sox. The White Sox would be so sick. You'll be there Monday. The Yankees run Schlitler on I mean Cole on Saturday so that I can see Schlitler on Monday.
I'll be in left center a few rows back. Another perfect difference between Chad Tracy and Aaron Boone. Aaron Boone said, Go ahead, go finish the seventh inning. He was he was gonna go way past his his career high in pitches in a single game. Aaron Boone said, You're rolling right now. Go bury him. That's exactly what he did. That's a manager. Yeah, regular season
Maybe leave it to the Atlanta analytics. I don't give a shit. But when you're in the playoffs, that's time for the manager to be a manager and for baseball to become human again, not to become robotic. That's why we don't do the stupid runner on second thing and and extra innings, because that's when it becomes baseball again. So I think they should get rid of the at least get rid of the pitch clock in in the playoffs. No. You let it breathe.
Let it breathe. Hitchcock is good. Let it breathe. Baseball is such a good sport to just let it breathe. And that's why I and I wanted to bring this up to the announcers. The announcer thing that that NBC did. I'm 50 50 on it. Because I'm I'm generally a guy where I'm like, I want a quiet game. I want like a solid announcer who knows how to let the game breathe. They don't have to speak every every second of every pitch. I kinda liked the
The play by play guy and then they had one guy from each team. Red Sox Yankees, they Lou Merlone and Joe Girardi. But I'd no NBC told them. Was it Rizzo last night? Rizzo was was in the stands. in the stands. He was like in the, you know, he was he was in like the the media area on the side of the field. But Rizzo, he was in both organizations. It was perfect. He was drafted by the Red Sox and then eventually played for the Yankees later in his career. But
The one thing that NBC shouldn't have done. Dude, why do people call me when I tell them that I'm on the podcast? my God. But the one thing that I know NBC said was you guys gotta chill out. You can't be crazy. Because John Cruc usually you get a few moments from John Cruck in a in a high leverage game. There was no moments. I saw a picture of him just sitting there trying to be on his best behavior.
He was just the the quietest little boy sitting in his chair, like being on his best behavior. And was like, damn it, man. Like you that's why you want the homers. That's why you want the guys who who are s they've they're there for 162 games. They're like, yeah, like I'm gonna be a homer and I'm gonna be kind of an idiot at times, but it's because they're a fan. They want to see the team win. So don't don't have them be quiet. I don't want them to be quiet. I don't want them to just sit there. Let them have fun.
But I I mean I also hate when you get like a walk off home run and the announcer doesn't let you hear the crowd at all. Like just Well that's when you let it breathe. Yeah, exactly. It's a fine line. There's a fine line to walk. Yeah. Well, like when I don't know who was running in. It was in the it was in the Padres game, I saw the clip, and just the crowd was rocking. It was a pitching change. And they did not cut to commercial. They just were silent.
To let the crowd just go absolutely insane for for the pitcher coming in. Again, I can't remember who was coming in. I think it was that kid who hadn't pitched. He had gone through like three or four different major injuries, kept fighting back to he's a relief pitcher. I can't remember his name. Kept fighting back to and he finally made his his MOB debut this year, and then he was pitching in a playoff game. And the the the Padres crowd was just going Bradley Rodriguez. Yes, I think it was Brad Bradley Rodriguez coming in.
Bradley Rodriguez. San Diego, by the way, perfect. It was perfect to see just how shitty the NFL is for taking away the Chargers. Because that crowd would be like that for the Chargers. On most days. Most most games. They get no fans now. There's just no excitement for the Chargers. There would at least be some sort of excitement. And we see what sports fans can do in San Diego. So Well, that's what happens when you when you move.
Two teams to one city within like five years of each other. Team that fans in the city didn't even get a chance to see if they wanted to be Rams fans or Chargers fans, because he just gave them both at the same time. Like here's a five games. They play in a stadium with no character. I hear people say, No, SoFi's really cool. It's a really good fan experience. I think the best fan experience is personalized for the fans of that team.
Like, I don't wanna sit in perfect AC and nice, comfortable seats. Like, part of what I like about Fenway is that it's just it's a l it's awkward. It's goofy, it's stupid, it's dumb. There's poles blocking you, and yeah, it sucks if you get a bad seat in a pole. But that's a part of the fan experience because there's nowhere else like Fenway Park. There's I don't know, I've never been to Kaufman Stadium. I don't know what Kaufman Stadium's like. I assume they have a good fan experience where it's like there's
You can't get this anywhere else. You can get SoFi at any generic ass stadium acros they literally don't they play two there's two teams there. Two different fan bases at the same experience. Not in the same league. Not in the same not in the same league. I'm actually fine. Baseball and basketball. I mean b basketball and hockey. Yeah, that's fine. I mean that that like
That's a little different. I think like I don't know, that's just a little different. That's fine, either way. Different sports. But like I I'm talking about the Coliseum. When you would get like Ra September Raider games, October Raider games with the with the baseball with the dirt. I loved it. I thought it hurt like a bitch to get tackled on. I'm sure it did. I'm sure it was miserable, but it's just good vibes. Good vibes. I don't know how we got onto this.
You have anything more on the Red Sox and Yankees? I mean No, you kind of stole me you stole my take. I did. I wanted to. I wasn't gonna let you have that. Don't extend an interim manager until you see how they perform in the playoffs if the opportunity is there. They saw how they were performing in September and they extended him. What are we doing? I mean Caleb was like they can fire him at any time.
It d I don't I don't care that that shows that they're stupid enough to put their faith in the guy after this. Give him a year. I think he earned another year. I think that's fine. Give him another year. Don't go three. Just stupid. Really dumb. Really, really difficult to to sit and watch. But whatever. You got anything else on the other games or you gonna save it for the cycle? I am shocked that the Cubs rolled over like they did.
Now, why I think we said this on the cycle. I think Josh well Josh actually had a lot of great insight. He picked Ben Rice as the player of the of the series, Boston, New York. he also picked Manny Machado and Freno Tatis to come through big. I was a Jackson Merrill guy. But it's j it was just the veterans for the Padres stepped up so much more than the veterans for the Cubs. PCA needed to be electric. PCA was non existent. He acknowledged that. And I really
He was I I enjoy that he said I need to do more and I didn't. I wasn't the guy I needed to be. I had to perform better. And that's great growth. And I think he's a mature baseball player. I think he cares about winning, and I think the Cubs will bounce back next year, but they need to completely overhaul their pitching staff because that shit is disgusting. granted, they had quite a few guys. If you asked them opening day, who's gonna be the guys you're counting on
In September, October, they would have said Ben Brown and Kate Horton, maybe even Justin Steele, if we can get him healthy. They had none of those guys. and some of the moves they made of the deadline to help build up that pitching staff were band-aids. They brought in Kevin Gosman, they brought in Ryan Zefferhan, and guys that were not a real positive factor in the postseason. So they need to tear that pitching staff down. Maybe don't bring back Imanaga. So
Start moving some pieces around and get some younger blood in there. and see if you can get Kate Horton and Ben Brown healthy and the Cubs are gonna be a very good team next year. But on this time, the Padres were the hottest team in baseball. they were going into the postseason, I believe, on a nine and one run, and the swag is just impeccable in San Diego. if you go back to when Fernando Tatis robbed that grand slam in right field and then
Absolutely swagged it out. That was a turning point for me, and there's been nothing but just impeccable vibes in San Diego for the last month. And they're a dangerous team. And you know who can beat the Dodgers? Absolutely the Padres. because the Padres are not scared of the Dodgers at all. And I think in the National League, there is so much talent. There are so many good teams in the National League right now. It is gonna come down to who's hottest.
And who believes that they're the team of Destiny and that could be the Padres. we'll see. I kinda like them. Did do we th it's not a crazy coincidence that the Cubs and Red Sox had to do that bullshit going down to Tampa because the Phillies cried when they said, Can we go to Chicago and play this game at Wrigley Field? And the Phillies were like, No, they're gonna get an extra, extra home game.
Which the game ended up not mattering anyways, the one in Tampa. Is it a crazy thing a coincidence that both of those teams got absolutely rolled over in the playoffs? Like they didn't even look anything. I like it from the Phillies. I like it. The Red Sox offense the Red Sox offense looked exactly how they looked in September, so not really gonna say much there. But the bullpen was bad and the Red Sox bullpen was not that bad all year.
I don't know. Maybe there's a little something there. I'm just it's just trying to disrupt your I mean the Phillies weren't trying to do anything to the Red Sox. They were trying to disrupt the Cubs. And I love that. If you can just say no, make them go play in the fucking circus tent down in St. Petersburg, Florida. I love that. That's just kicking and screaming. Kicking and screaming and and bitching. But who came out on top of Phillies? If the Phillies win tonight, then they won the move. They won the tantrum.
Typical Philly. That's why I don't let my toddler win a tantrum. That's true. Rob Manfred. Never let him win a tantrum. Yeah, Rob Manfred again is a becoming a villain also. They want to play a game in a national park. Are you fucking serious? They want to put a stadium in a national park and play a baseball game in a national park. Which national park? Anything. They're they're just looking at any national park. Let's play a baseball game in the Everglades and
But you're gonna be in waste deep water the whole time. There are anacondas, there are pythons, there are allocations. You have to kill an anaconda to leave the stadium. Somehow there's a polar bear. there are hippos, by the way, in the Everglades. There are saltwater crocodiles in the Everglades. Yeah. Play a game. The Everglades is like a weird just it it doesn't exist on like the regular timeline of of Earth. It just whatever happens down there, happens. And they're just like whatever.
but yeah, Rob Manfred. Rob Manfred turning into Roger Goodell of just like super villain, like let's play wherever we can. Yeah. Just going in, yeah, they're saying we're not playing on disrupted land in the national parks. We're not gonna do that. We're gonna go play it as storage area. Like, bro, if you're gonna have thousands of people trek into a national park, storage area anyway. Watch here's what's gonna happen. The NFL and the MLB and the NBA are all gonna decide they wanna be the first
sport to play on the moon. And it's gonna become the next space race between the big leagues. And it's gonna be funny 'cause hockey's gonna get it done 'cause they've got all those Russians. It's also super cold. It's also super cold up on the moon. In the Russian historically cold. It'd be historically cold. Siri, what's the temperature on the fucking moon?
Dark side or light side. That's important. Pink Floyd would say the dark side. It is two hundred and fifty degrees Celsius in direct sunlight and negative four ten Fahrenheit in shadowed parts of the moon. So you could be in an oven or you could freeze to death instantly. One or the other. They also gotta watch out for the Transformers up there. There's there's some Transformers up there. There are transformers on the moon. There's also a secret Chinese moon base. And you know who
loves baseball, the Asians. So they've probably already been playing baseball on their secret moon base up there. they've been they have a league. It's only a matter of time before before the international before they they start bringing players down to play Major League Baseball who were they were definitely born up there to play baseball on the moon. That's and gravity down here doesn't apply the same way could to someone born on the moon. They could l quite literally jump out of the stadium.
That's incredible. I I don't think I don't think that's how that would work. I think they wouldn't. it's on Tubi. Yeah, it's on Tubi. They've been streaming their games on Tubi, yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I've been following along. I've been I've been watching on my smart fridge. It's the only place you can stream the games is on a on a Samsung smart fridge through Tubi. That's smart. That is smart. Smart Fridge. This episode is brought to you by Samsung and Tubi.
Random ass. Those are some random, random sponsors. All right. We're gonna move on to the next segment. Okay, Maryland Spotlight. we head to Rio for the Maryland Spotlight. funny enough. The the Baltimore Ravens have won a close football game. don't give Lamar seven seconds. My biggest question is what is Dallas doing?
Yeah, on on well, kicking off and running that play with fourteen seconds. Running the third down play with fourteen seconds. They called a timeout. Why would you not run that down to ten seconds? Run the play. And even then you're not gonna have a the Ravens don't have enough time to run one play and call a timeout. It it was just really poor, poor game management, from Brian Schottenheimer there.
I don't know how you feel about the defense here for for the Ravens. I mean, thirty one points. This is a really good Cowboys offense. and the Cowboys did just get really a lot better on defense with Joey Porter, but
you I'll let you go off.
speaker-1 (1:58:32)
Well, I
think both coaches screwed up. I thought Minter screwed up not calling the timeout and letting Dallas run the clock down. And had Dallas scored a touchdown, that would have been it. Ravens wouldn't have had time to even get in the Hail Mary range, maybe. But it kind of it was weird. It reminded me because Trey Hendrickson was on this Bengals team in 21, where and that was a game where Zach Taylor managed the clock perfectly, but Kansas City still had the opportunity to run it down.
score a touchdown and win the game in regulation. They didn't. Hendrickson had a huge play to stop them. And that's kind of what happened here. Like the Ravens were they they should have lost this game. Right. They did I didn't love the pass interference call, but you know what? It's you just no you never know with pass interference anymore.
speaker-0 (1:59:18)
That was horrible. That was so
speaker-1 (1:59:21)
I don't want to sound like a bitter fause, you I they go both.
speaker-0 (1:59:24)
No,
I I was watching, I was like, That is not that was armed fighting. That was the definition of armed.
speaker-1 (1:59:30)
Yeah. But then, you know, they were in a position where they bent but didn't break against a really good offense. I mean, and they they had a situation where Lamar had to make one big pass play and he did it. Like I wanted to see a win like this. Like, yeah, it's a little bit of a heart attack waiting to happen, but it was exciting to to be on the the winning side of this as a Ravens fan to see them figure out a way to make that defensive stop.
To overcome maybe the coach making the wrong decision. To, you know, win on a day when Derrick Henry ran twenty-six times but only for eighty-nine yards, you know, where Lamar only had 186 yards passing. Like I care about I don't care about numbers. No one should ever care about numbers. They should care about what can you make the big plays in the big moments? That's what separates good teams from great teams. Cowboys didn't, they really haven't forever, basically three.
Decades plus.
speaker-0 (2:00:27)
Since ninety five.
speaker-1 (2:00:29)
but I I just thought like again, they didn't get a ton of pressure on Dak. They had one sack, you know.
speaker-0 (2:00:37)
twenty four thirteen in the third. Reason
speaker-1 (2:00:38)
They were there's no reason.
speaker-0 (2:00:40)
this game should have been that close.
speaker-1 (2:00:42)
No, I mean, of course the Ravens were gonna let him back in. You know, you look, if if Dallas was up eleven, the Ravens would have come back. This was destined to be this kind of game. These were two teams that almost just wanted to give the game away, just to have a knack for doing that. But I think on a day where the Ravens I don't I they didn't get outplayed, but I wouldn't say they outplayed Dallas either. But it was just a matter of there were there were just specific moments in the game that the Ravens won. They won those big moments.
speaker-0 (2:01:11)
The block field goal, one of The only turnover.
speaker-1 (2:01:14)
the
game as well. Yep. And and yeah and Tyler Loop, 56 yard field goal. Justin who, right now that's Ty Matt, maybe is Tyler Moot Loops. He makes up for maybe that kick he missed against Pittsburgh. Maybe this is his I'm here moment. I'm the new guy. The Ravens really have only ever had just a handful of kickers in their history. They had Matt Stover forever. Then they had Billy Cundiff who was fine up until the 2011 AFC championship. And then they had Tucker for 13 years. And now
Hopefully Tyler Loop sticks around for a long time.
speaker-0 (2:01:45)
Yeah. just looking at my notes here. Derrick Henry hits ninth on the NFL all time rushing list, even with his eighty nine yards. so congrats to him. also Aubrey just having kickoff trouble in general. I I feel like he's had like two or three go out of bounds, which I mean that's that's a big deal. That puts you at the forty. And it's just, you know, a little out of character for for a guy like Brandon Aubrey, who's
You know, one of the best in the game, if not the best right now. now you guys might argue Tyler Loop, but
speaker-1 (2:02:22)
Yeah, sort of odd.
speaker-0 (2:02:23)
But
no it to me to me this felt like exercising demons. Like you guys last week the way you lost was a very harbaugh way to lose. And then you almost do it again, but it felt like it was like, okay, you know what? We know how to do this. Let's win a football game. let's win a close football game, especially in a game where we blow the lead. So maybe this is the turning point. This is like maybe you look back and say, okay.
This is where we felt a little more comfortable, where we felt like the team was completely different under Jesse Minter versus Harbaugh.
speaker-1 (2:02:58)
Yeah, d doing you're right, doing it on the heels of that game last week makes this even a bigger deal for the race.
speaker-0 (2:03:04)
And now you get a weak, weak Tennessee team coming into Baltimore, where you can really get a chance to rest and flex your muscles.
speaker-1 (2:03:14)
Yes, the the time difference being only what an hour two.
speaker-0 (2:03:18)
That helps that does help victims.
speaker-1 (2:03:20)
But yeah, to South America, but they're but fortunately they're not com you know, not Australia, so
speaker-0 (2:03:27)
You weren't you weren't able to go there two weeks ahead of time?
speaker-1 (2:03:30)
Right. Well, I mean, Brazil's a probably a fun place. I've never been, but it would be, maybe they wanted to.
speaker-0 (2:03:38)
No grass issues either. No grass issues for the Raven.
speaker-1 (2:03:41)
Shocking. Right. That was that Philly Green Bay game, that ugly where Jordan Love got hurt, right? A couple of years ago. The first opening game, yeah.
speaker-0 (2:03:50)
gimme your pick for Sunday night football. Ravens, Falcons. This is a big one. Bird fight.
speaker-1 (2:03:57)
No, I mean this is one you gotta have. I mean, come on, I th
speaker-0 (2:04:02)
I
thought this was a
speaker-1 (2:04:05)
Tennessee game. No.
speaker-0 (2:04:08)
Hold on.
You're right. I was looking at the wrong thing. I'm sorry. I was looking at the wrong thing. They're playing they are playing Tennessee. I don't know. I clicked to week five.
speaker-1 (2:04:16)
I think they're gonna be relaxed. I think
speaker-0 (2:04:18)
Baltimore minus eleven and a half.
speaker-1 (2:04:20)
They're gonna they're gonna beat him soundly. I I was pretty close. I think did I say the Ravens like or you said thirty two twenty eight, I think I said thirty one twenty seven over Dallas. It's something like that. pretty good. I think the Ravens will hit thirty in this one and they'll keep Tennessee under twenty. I'll just
speaker-0 (2:04:35)
We
were both were both right there. I'll say yeah, I'll say I feel like you're gonna run it up a little bit. Get there's still like some lingering frustration. You wanna just feel confident. I I'm gonna say like a forty-two forty-two nineteen. I I like them a lot here. So all right, I think that's a good spot to move in to the next segment.
Congrats to Caleb Williams on winning last week's draft, the greatest Red Sox Yankees moments. I don't think there was any moments from this series that are gonna make it into that draft. I deserved.
No, this past series, there's no moments. I know that sucked. Yeah, but I'm saying I have the best draft because I actually drafted some Yankees moments. you fucking homers.
I took Bambino. I took the curse of the Bambino. That's a Yankees. Yeah, but yeah, I guess so. Yeah. The creation of the rivalry. It was really bad. It was horrible for it was great for the Yankees, too. They won so much. now we are doing the greatest sports nicknames snake draft. it's just gonna be me and John. I'm gonna take the first pick. John will have the second, and we will go back and forth. so I I
This is such a subjective draft to have. And I have so many. I have so many names on here that I'm like, that one was good. This one was really good too. I'd love this one. I'm gonna start with a name. It's so much I mean, it's basically this guy's name. People don't even really know this guy's real name.
I'm gonna go with the greatest golfer of all time. Tiger Woods. Eldric Taunt Woods. but it's Tiger Woods. I mean, he was his nickname is Tiger because he was a fucking tiger on the golf course. He's the most dominant probably one of the most dominant athletes behind wheel. We don't talk about his his driving of a car. We talk about his driving of a golf ball.
of a golf ball we talk not even driving of a golf cart. I wouldn't be comfortable with that. But I'm taking Tiger Woods, Tiger, as a nickname. I mean, that's just an elite. I'm come on. That's when then when the name becomes so synonymous with you that people like genuinely think that's your legal name, it's it's pretty peak. I'll counter that with the same same concept. I'll go Magic Johnson. thank you. Okay.
Irvin magic Johnson. I mean he was magic. He he you know, they the Laker teams, they were magical. They were incredible. I mean, Showtime. Showtime Lakers. Are we snaking our way around this or are you just taking the first pick on each one? No, snake. Snake it all right.
I'm gonna go with maybe my favorite nickname of all time. Nope. I'm I will come back to that one. gimme the black mamba. that's a good one. That is a good one. Was that created for Was that created for shoes? I don't know. All I know is he is the black mamba. And he has the mamba mentality. And that has become so synonymous with like
Guys with a killer instinct in basketball, you don't even say, he's clutch. You say he's got the mama mentality. And that is pfft I mean, that defines Kobe Bryant. R.I.P. to the realist. so yeah, also a great nickname. What is your take on his his sexual assault history? he didn't do anything wrong.
I don't what Is Caleb back there drafting for you? Caleb, what should I say? What should I say? I like it? No, I'm not gonna say that I like it. That's Caleb. Jesus Christ, Caleb. No, and we're I'm not gonna take Ted Bundy in the nickname draft. Jesus. No, not the Bay Harbor butcher either. He fucking said. No, not OJ. Don't take OJ. Don't take don't take the juice man. Juice.
boy. I'm gonna be a homer on this one. Big Poppy, okay. Yes, Big Poppy. up until I was probably about five, I thought that was his real name because that was literally all the only way I heard him referred to as the it's Big Poppy. He's Big Poppy. He's amaz I mean it's it's again, it's another one of those that will never die. He will always be Big Poppy.
Hell the I feel like I feel like as a kid I remember them putting it on his stat on his stat line when he came up to bat. I was like, I could have sworn I saw them put Big Poppy on there, not Dave. He also didn't know Dustin Pedroya's real name. He didn't know that Dustin Pedroya was Well, that that was also kind of on my list on like the things that I was thinking of. I was like, should I draft I'm not gonna draft it. I don't think you're gonna draft it. I was like, should I draft Pee-wee? Just as like a a good little thing.
Pee Wee, yeah. But it's it's it's gonna be on my honorable mention.
next, I'm gonna take one because this guy was so big and strong. This guy was a literal monster, he was a machine, he wasn't even an Autobot, he was a Decepticon. I'm taking Megatron, Calvin Johnson, the Megatron. And you know what? It felt like you were playing against Megatron every single time you played him, unless it was Arrell Reeves.
Every other time you played him, it felt like there was no way you were gonna stop this guy. That there was just no possible way to to stop his reign of terror on your defense. Calvin Johnson, Megatron. You know what's funny? So you said because he was just a big guy, my brain was, he's going the big hurt. And then you said he was a literal machine. I was like, Albert Pooh holes. And then you went to Decepticon, I'm like, it's Megatron.
So I went a lot of places there. I would love, love to take the round mound of rebound.
You are that's Charlie, by the way. Yes. No, you are taking him. Yes, the round mound of rebound. He was round. He was a rebounder. It's a perfect name. And I like unique nicknames, and I like nicknames that tell you something about the player. Magic Johnson was magical. Kobe Bryant, the black mamba, he's a venomous snake. He'll strike you know out of nowhere.
and Charles Blackley was just a fat dude who could pull down boards. I'm actually not a big fan of nicknames that are incredibly long, like mouthfuls. I'm not a massive fan of them. Because it's not a nickname. It's a sentence. It's a sentence. You're drafting a sentence. No, no, no, no. Alright. My next one, I I I'm between the two greatest baseball players of all time.
but I'm gonna take the say hey kit.
That's Willie Mays, by the way. Say hey kid. Say hey, kid. I like that one. of course the other greatest baseball player of all time, Hank Aaron, Hammer and Hank, but that's just too basic. That sounds like you know anybody could come up with that. I know. There there's some nickname like like what is a bambino? Somebody tell me what a bambino is.
The Sultan SWAT, the great Bambino. No, too many nicknames. You gotta pick one, and that's who you are. What is a Bambino? I wanna know. Somebody explain to me. I think it's a like a German grandmother. I have to go see Bombom and Bambino afterward. Or an Italian grandmother. I have to see Bombom and Bambino. That makes sense. Yeah. Because German grandmother is Oma.
Okay, you you did take yours. I'm looking here. I got I got three that I'm deciding between. Well you got two pizza. This is really tough. I know, I know, I know. I wanna go I wanna go with this guy because he he was just commanding. He was a commanding presence on the field. JD five. He's a commander. No
We I'm gonna have to bleep out the f the five respect to Jaden Daniels. I'm gonna have to bleep out the five in post. Thank you for adding work for me for that. I hope people understand what what I said when I bleep out the fab. You know what I think is crazy though? Did you hear that the Fab Five is changing their nickname to the fabulous group of freshman basketball players out of respect for Jaden Daniels?
You're welcome. Marvel's lucky they chose Fantastic Four and not Fantastic Five. Because you'd have to have to remake the movie. Yeah, yeah. I'm gonna believe every single time we say it. Out of respect. Out of respect. this guy was a commanding presence on the field. I mean, when you just think of this guy, he's he's almost like a general.
He's almost like a general. He he he walks his team out there and he just sits under center and and he just directs the field. I'm going with the sheriff. The sheriff? Going with the sheriff. Peyton Manning. Play to Tennessee. Just he's got that country, he's got the country feel. He's he's you know, the New Orleans, the Tennessee, that Southern Sheriff. He goes out there and he's pointing and he's directing and he's like, This is I I'm running the show here.
It's my show, The Sheriff Peyton Manning.
I like that one. I actually do like that a lot. My last one, I'm gonna go with a little bit. I'm gonna go with a very, a bit more of a niche one. Not a very niche one, a bit more of a niche one. Because I had I had another one on here that I really, really like. But this one is just this one's funny. This one's good. I'm going with the law firm. Ben Jarvis Green Ellis. Green Ellis. Law firm. That's a really good one.
All right, that'll be Ben Jarvis. That opens up my pick. Thank you. I won I'll let you, and then we'll go over honorable mentions. So I should take prime time here. I should take prime time. However, because you took the law firm, I'm going to change my pick. and I'm gonna go with one of the closers of all time. He he was in fact he was a closer. There was a gentleman who was a closer.
He also happened to be Mexican and we called him the Mexicotioner Joquim Soria. Some people pronounce it Joe Kim Soria. But either no matter how you say it, he was a closer for the Royals. Mexican Joeim Soria the Mexicotioner.
okay he alright came in he came in at the end of games and most of the time and mexecuted and mexecuted the other team. He mexecuted the other team. boy. I'll go over the picks and then we can go over our honorable mentions. Alex takes Tiger, Big Poppy, Megatron, the Sheriff, and Law Firm. John takes Magic, Black Mamba.
The round bound or rebound, the say hey kid, and the Mexiconer. the one that I I was thinking on was sweetness, Walter Payton. Walt Payton. Sweetness, just he ran just so sweet. And you just think it's smooth. You think of I think of smoothness when I hear that. But sweetness, Walter Payton. I'll I'll run down mine, then you run down yours. Laser Show, Dustin Pedroya, personal favorite. Petey as well, Dustin Pedroya.
Prime time, you mentioned it. The fridge. The bus. The fr I have the fridge on my list. The fridge. the bus, Jerome Bettis. the great one, Wayne Gretzky. I mean, if your nickname is the great one and everyone's just like, that's that guy. Like they know who it is. That's pretty sick. That means you were pretty pretty damn good at what you do. Air Jordan, but I felt like having Jordan for Michael Jordan. His airness, I guess that's good, but
I mean he did make like billions of dollars off the shoes, but white chocolate, white chocolate, Jason Williams. The Answer, Alan Iverson. AI. AI. actually we don't have to confuse that with we don't have to confuse that with artificial intelligence anymore. We can call S I. It's S I. But what are we gonna do about Sports Illustrated now? my god. Do we care more about Alan Iverson or Sports Illustrated? I mean, come on. No, I'm
I'm talking about super intelligence. Super intelligence versus versus artificial intelligence. Well, either way, someone's getting their letters taken away. Yeah, we're ta I I think Sports Illustrated has a pretty good pretty good legal team? Yeah. We're technically. Maybe not. Aren't they like done now? I don't know. They kinda suck, yeah. I don't know. I have The Truth, Paul Pierce. famously pooped himself pooped himself in a game. He had cramp. Diesel stabbed in a bar fight as well.
He did? yeah. He got stabbed in a bar fight. By the way, Shack is the Shactus, Big Diesel, Superman. What else was he? I thought I always thought Dwight Howard would be Superman. I thought Dwight Howard was. Shaq went by Superman as well. Yeah. I give ch I'd give Dwight Howard Superman. 'Cause he he did more of Superman things. He could fly. Yeah. I have you got one more? I I got I got I got I got a few.
Keep rattling up. Dr. Dr. J, The Admiral, The Hick from French Lake, one of the few long ones that I like. The Dream, Hakeem, the Dream, Iron Mike, Beast Mode, Beast Quake, you know, the the it created Beast. That's crazy. The Sandman, Mr. October. You're defined by a month because you're just so good in that month. Cardiac Kemba.
Because of what he did, Kemba Walker. King James, I don't know if I felt I was just kinda like King James. He's the king. It's it's defined a generation. Like he has defined a generation. I have to throw him in there. Johnny Football, just cool name. Johnny Cocaine. Johnny Cocaine. the Nigerian nightmare. The Nigerian nightmare. Christian Okoye, Kansas City Chief. Kansas City Chief.
big sexy, can't leave him out of there. Big United Big Handsome. That's Cody Zeller. Never heard him called the Big Handsome. Well, you don't know fucking ball. I sh I should go run for Congress. the Big Hurt. I have big hurt. Frank Thomas. Mean Joe for Mean Joe Green. Joe Green. Birdman. Icky Woods. Icky for Icky Woods. Icky Shuffle. Icky Shuffle.
Icky Shuffle. McGriff, the crime dog. Good one. Lynn Sanity. the Rocket. The kid. can we duh do you remember when ESPN put out an article after Jeremy Lynn lost the game? They call they said a chink in his armor question mark, and then someone got fired over it because nobody checked it to realize that chink is an incre incredibly offensive thing for Asian people.
That's pretty crazy.
Must have been Amazon. Don't cut there. Just leave it in. oil can Boyd and the Worm. You're getting too niche here. I've got Dion Sanders, Primetime. I've got Jerry West, the logo. And then I have a whole run of nicknames that are all basically the same. You've got Mickey Mannle, the Commerce Comet. You have Gail Sayers, the Kansas Comet. You have Mike Trout, the Millville Meteor, and then you have.
Jackie Robinson, who they referred to as the colored comet. No. Which is absurd. I looked up like I was like, did Jackie Robinson have any other nicknames other than just Jackie or 42? Yeah, he did. He had another nickname. and it's not much better than what they were screaming at him from the stands. so just the absurd nickname. Crazy, dude. That's fucking crazy.
White from the internet. how times have changed. let's make an let's make it about its color. my god.

speaker-1 (2:22:47)
All right.
speaker-0 (2:22:48)
