0:00

all right welcome back episode 156 of chaotic lean Talent we have John back today we are going to be doing a

0:07

baseball draft uh or not a draft sorry a bracket um so we're just going to talk

0:13

about the best player from each MLB team and we will go through the bracket with

0:18

that uh make sure to like comment subscribe share make sure your whole

0:23

family listens to it put it on in the car put it on your TV when you're not at home and then just have the auto play

0:29

going so all episodes play while you're gone for the day for work um and make

0:34

sure to go back and listen to every single episode we've ever done I think that's a reasonable that's

0:41

a reasonable request right I mean that's very reasonable use up all the data on your Wi-Fi if you have the limited Wi-Fi

0:47

option some people do um and let's let's go

0:52

[Music]

1:10

all right so let's jump into this bracket I'm going to share my screen I'm excited who's your Dark Horse who's your

1:16

Darkhorse player to make a Deep Run Tony Gwyn Tony Gwyn does not get the

1:22

respect I think he deserves and in pumping George Brett the entire bracket

1:27

so um so how this is going to work we're going to Rapid Fire for the through the first couple of rounds because we don't

1:34

want to have to just talk about like a player that's just not going to succeed and then we'll probably we'll dive

1:40

deeper in during like the elite a final four and the championship um but if you

1:45

are upset about the rankings about the seating we didn't try to go super accurate with the seating because the

1:51

cream is going to rise to the top as it always does at the end seating doesn't truly truly matter um if you're a great

1:58

player then you're a great player um and yeah so and if we miss something we miss

2:03

something I don't know what to tell you uh Babe Ruth at number one Hank Aaron is number two Ted Williams number three

2:09

Jackie Robinson number four Willie Mays number five Nolan Ryan number six Roberto CL number seven Tai Cobb number

2:16

eight Pete Rose number nine Cal Ripken number 10 Randy Johnson 11 Ernie Banks

2:21

number 12 Ken Griffey Jr number 13 Bob Feller number 14 Tony Gwyn number 15 Tom

2:28

sver number 16 Stan muel number 17 Frank Thomas number 18 George Brett number 19

2:34

Mike Trout number 20 Robin ya 21 Kirby Pucket 22 Ricky Henderson 23 Mike

2:42

Schmidt 24 PUD Rodriguez 25 Todd hton 26 Roy Halliday 27 Max Scherzer 28 Evan

2:49

Longoria 29 and John Carlos Stanton 30 uh so Babe Ruth gets the buy and HEK

2:57

Hank Aaron also gets the buy because there are 30 players Stan muel and Tom

3:02

sver where are we going that is a that's tough muel 3,00 3600 hits almost 4 500

3:10

home runs let me see yeah 475 and a 30 330 batting average career 128 career

3:18

War that's wild he had incredible stats Tom sver 300 and something wins but body

3:26

of work misual yeah I'm I'm going to go mu uh mu as well um I feel

3:31

like feel like playing for the Mets dings you a little bit yeah I mean it

3:37

was also that was the Miracle Mets that was you know the 1969 Mets um but I I feel like also as a pitcher it you do

3:44

get dinged a little bit I think position players you just do more you're playing every day versus a pitcher pitching

3:49

every three to five days in that time period on to the next one Pete Rose and

3:55

Mike Schmidt um so I know you are an active hater of Pete Rose um do you

4:02

think he is a uh What uh he he's equivalent to Jeff

4:08

epsteen he's that bad maybe not that bad he's no not that bad he's but he's when

4:14

you when you're in the same conversation that's bad if you're if you're like in a group

4:21

of Jared the subway guy Jeff Epstein and Pete Rose not a good thing great baseball player but he's up against Mike

4:27

Schmidt who is also a really great baseball player um if we're taking into consideration

4:33

any kind of like morals Pete Rose is eliminated however I would say he is a

4:39

better baseball player than Mike Schmidt unfortunately hey uh so Mike Schmidt won two MVPs he led the National League in

4:47

home runs eight times he had 548 total uh he had 18-year career in

4:52

Philly with 12 Allstars nine gold gloves uh while Pete Rose most notably leads

4:58

baseball in and hits I mean he is the major league hit king um I'm not going

5:04

to take morals into account here I think we got to judge this based off of baseball players in general um like Tai

5:11

Cobb he has a controversial history I guess some people say maybe it isn't true what he was um some of the things

5:18

he was accused of he won three batting titles um he also LED all MLB players in that bats played appearances and games

5:25

played I'm going to go with Pete Rose he also did it for two teams if I'm correct

5:31

Phillies and reds yeah yeah he play for Phillies I think he was also the better better Philly player um so I'm going

5:37

Pete Rose here whoops nope don't reset the scores there we go uh and then

5:43

whoever is gonna play Pete Rose we have PUD Rodriguez and Tai cob I mean ta Cobb's easy Ty yeah it's no question uh

5:50

Willie Mays and Max sherzer um so San Francisco yeah for San Francisco I did

5:55

think about putting in Barry Bonds I wasn't 100% sure um but Willie Mays felt like the right answer you know because

6:02

he played six more seasons with San Fran Max Scherzer also he did win a World Series for Washington um but

6:09

again no no pitcher wasn't the best pitcher on the team during that run

6:14

strawberg had the better postseason in that run yeah absolutely which he just retired so congrats to Stephen strawber

6:22

on one yeah one hell of a money-making career I'll say that uh yeah after he

6:27

signed that contract I think he threw 500 pitches in major league baseball injuries are are a shame he would have

6:34

been Elite who's next Y and Banks easy that's Ernie Ernie Banks yeah very easy

6:41

U Mr Cub as you said earlier uh when we were off the recording now this is an interesting one Ken griffy Jr and Mike

6:49

Trout I think it's less interesting than some people would think Mike Trout one

6:55

of the best baseball players of our time but King Griffey Jr accolades 600 home run guy two guys who whose careers were

7:03

heavily hampered by injuries King griffy Jr was hurt a lot um

7:10

however also being on under like under succeeding teams like teams that just

7:16

don't historically succeed um but I I do agree Ken griffy I I think also like

7:22

Mike Trout still playing does hurt a little bit of his resume because we don't know what he is yet we know what

7:28

Ken Griffey Jr was um we don't know trout trout might never play a

7:34

complete season again in his career trout might never play a playoff game again in his career which Ken gvy Jr

7:41

also notably did not win a World Series um I have him finishing this season with

7:47

either the Braves or the Phillies though I I don't I don't think he's gonna be because he's he's playing so well right

7:53

now I think they deal him while the stock while his stock is high get a big

7:59

hul of prospects the Orioles are an interesting Contender there because the or

MLB Greatest Player Bracket

8:05

cont that contract is going to be very difficult to to take but if if you said would you agree to restructure your

8:11

contract in order to play for a winning team he might because he has plenty of money yeah um Evan Longoria and Jackie

8:19

Robinson which the fact that might be the no-brainer of no-brainers Evan Longoria has had a great career you know

8:27

as a ball player um you know he famously that the home run in game won 162 to

8:32

send the Rays to the playoffs but good Lord like how are we talking why is Evan longor on a list of best baseball

8:38

players of all time um and the next one and I'm shocked the ray could CLA Wade

8:44

bogs ased William right now because he's gonna have a a tough bracket ahead of

8:50

him yeah yeah Ted Williams easy going to be cloned in a few years that's true we

8:57

will see probably within the next years we'll have to do a bracket again

9:02

in about 20 after his 10e career as a clone and we'll see um George Brett and

9:08

Bob Feller I mean it's tight but I'm gonna have to go with George Brett 3,000 hit

9:14

guy World Series champion Kansas City lifer now in the front office as part of

9:20

his deal his last contract with the ra with the uh Royals we couldn't compete with what the Yankees were offering him

9:26

but effectively we paid him for his life because he's now an executive we're still technically paying him for his

9:31

playing career so uh technically two world two time World Series champion

9:37

once as an exact once as a player um George Brett has uh he has a

9:42

statue 13 All-Star appearances W MVP in the 19 in 1980 after he hit

9:49

390 which is crazy um he also retired as a 305 career hitter with 317 home runs

9:56

Bob Feller and I'm I'm I'm also going George Brett here which is crazy 279

10:02

complete games but a 325 career ra which isn't horrible that's not horrible whatsoever but I think back then

10:08

especially that's worse than I think you would expect there are guys putting up

10:14

like one fives and 14 eras yeah so I'm I'm going George Brett

10:19

here um which again people might not be super happy about I'm not sure uh Randy

10:25

Johnson and Kirby Pucket Randy Johnson

10:30

most notably known for closing out uh the end of Little Big League uh clearly

10:36

most notably known for that um one of the greatest strikeout pitchers of all time now did

10:42

Kirby he did he's a and he's a heck of a photographer absolutely I don't know

10:48

Kirby Pucket I'm just gonna double won four consecutive sa Youngs yeah and

10:53

Kirby Puck is neither a 500 home run nor a 3,000 hit nor

11:00

a like an elite tyght MVP type guy did he ever win no he is in the Hall of Fame

11:06

10 time Allstar no going I'm going Randy go in his time with the Diamondbacks he

11:11

went 118 and 62 he had a 283 ER with 2,000

11:17

strike 1600 Innings when people were on steroids and he was still putting up

11:23

numbers if I was going to say give me a pitcher to pitch one game I need to win

11:28

to save my life it's between Randy Johnson and the next guy we're going to talk about here one of the next

11:35

guys holiday and Nolan Ryan uh Nolan Ryan literally invented the vast ball

11:41

basic it feels like he invented like the 100 m hour fastball um six no hitters

11:48

and or is it seven is it seven seven no hitters No Sa Youngs seven no hitters No Sa Youngs um Roy

11:55

Halliday great great pitcher um but I mean it's an all and r that's that's all we have to say Roy

12:01

holiday did throw a perfect game in the playoffs which was incredible however it's Randy Johnson I mean it's noan Ryan

12:07

I mean well and Roy Halliday that was for Philly as well yeah so oh yeah oh

12:14

you're right we got him in as a toron as a blue Toronto he is in next one is it's

12:19

for it's foro CL Todd hton congrats on being induct in the Hall of Fame but

12:25

Roberto Clen is the greatest right fielder of all time mhm and one of the greatest people of all time so yeah um

12:33

Ricky Henderson and Cal Ripken Jr Ricky Henderson is the Man of Steel he is the steel King he the amount of bases that

12:40

he's stolen like is thinking about the number compared to how bases are stolen today is yeah insane it is insane like

12:50

what we can even look up let's see M Mo so we have the we have the Man of Steel versus the Iron

12:56

Man that's true uh Superman win that fight every single time nobody tell me

13:01

any different that that Superman would lose to Iron Man that is a that is like so Marvel recency bias that they did a

13:09

they did a crossover in the 90s with Marvel and DC and I'm pretty sure Superman Superman did

13:16

hold but Thor's hammer I still never know how to pronounce it Mahir Moler um

13:23

he was able to hold that and Iron Man never was so don't come at me with that [ __ ] that Iron Man could beat

13:28

Superman that's crazy so are you going with Ricky Henderson based on that I would I would take I would take Ricky

13:34

maybe I should maybe I should I I I would I would say straight up I would rather have Ricky Henderson than Cal

13:40

Ripken okay Cal ripken's consecutive game record is incredible he's an

13:46

excellent player I think his legacy is inflated because of that record more

13:52

than his playing career Grant a super great player but when I hear people talk about like the greatest of all time they

13:58

want to put rkin Jr in the discussion and I think that's lunacy Ricky

14:03

Henderson led the league with 130 stolen bases in 1982 yeah and that is so like for for

14:11

context if you wantan to if you want to look at it um horge Mato in 2022 led the

14:18

league led the American League with 35 stolen bases had 70 and it's still half of and

14:26

people they stopped the game they stopped the game so they could celebrate

14:32

him picking up 73 and Ricky Henderson had almost double that which obviously you know that was it also had to do with

14:38

the home runs but still but har was really fat he also had 3,000 hits 297

14:45

home runs and 111 career War so he's not just a stolen base guy

14:52

he's like one of the elite hitters he could hit for power his 3,000th hit or

14:58

was it his 300 thth hit or when he set the run the total bases record or run scored record he hit a home run to do it

15:05

I think it was his 3,000 hit he hit a home run to do it I want to look up Cal ripen just real quick Cal Ripken um 19

15:14

Allstar games and W two MVPs as well as uh he you know he beat

15:20

Garrick's game consecutive games played and he had 430 home runs that's really

15:26

tough I would still go Henderson Al and I'm by no means I'm by no means a Cal

15:32

Ripken hater rip uh Cal Ripken his wife slept with Kevin cner and the Orioles

15:38

had to knock power out of the stadium so he could go beat up Kevin Cosner so um is that a real

15:44

thing I I have no clue I think I think it's a I think it's a very crazy rumor

15:50

but um he was cucked by Kevin Cosner so so then Ricky Henderson Ricky hon I'm

15:55

gonna go Ricky Henderson that's our first upset that is our first upset of the day um I guess our first big upset

16:03

because George BR over Bob Feller um and then Tony Gwyn and Frank Thomas to play

16:09

next round Tony Gwyn move him on Tony just manhandled by H heren in the next

16:16

round um Tony Gwyn I have to look up his stats um about strikeouts he struck out

16:24

like 39 times in a season Once uh had career averaged 21.2k per season he had

16:33

more um hey dogs no no he had more College assists than career strikeouts

16:39

he's incredible and give him his flowers now because this is where the road stops for Tony Gwyn

16:45

unfortunately yeah I mean this is not start from the bottom yeah let's start at the bottom

16:50

we'll move our way up Hank Aaron easy send him on the way um he's he's going

16:56

uh moving on to the next round Roberto and Ricky Henderson Clement Clement easy

17:04

um no problem uh Randy Johnson and Nolan Ryan this one's a tough one um Randy

17:11

Johnson is literally one of the most physically imposing pitchers in in my

17:18

opinion like he lit they players will say he literally just places the ball in the catcher like he doesn't even throw

17:24

it he just puts it in there very easily um hey cookie and Ricky they're not

17:30

happy they're not happy about me talking up Randy Johnson yeah okay so Randy

17:36

Johnson is a better pitcher than Nolan Ryan and I stand by that however Nolan

17:42

Ryan's career stats are unbelievable it's like you look at it and you think you're looking at somebody from the

17:48

1910s who just played who just pitched nine innings every other day but he

17:54

Randy Johnson did it in the steroid era yeah but Nolan Ryan struck out like the

18:00

most what is it the he have 4,000 strikeouts I forget the exact

18:06

number but it's mindboggling 5,719 I said 4,000 because 4,000 has a

18:13

ton of strikeouts and he had 5700 yeah we got to go with I I think we got to go Nolan Ryan here which is like I can't

18:20

believe that Randy Johnson's getting bounced in the second round because I know I love Randy Johnson the I think I

18:27

think the thing that does hurt him as well like his legacy is kind of that back end where he went a bunch of places

18:33

and he wasn't bad play for the Giants listen to this noan Ryan uh seven no

18:39

hitters 12 one hitters 18 two hitters 31 three hitters all complete

18:44

games then he I mean stop it you're hey stop

18:50

God these dogs uh he also has the lowest career batting average allowed at 204 the next most no hitters is four he has

18:59

almost double the amount of no hitters as the next next guy up yeah I'll go no

19:05

here which is sad sad that Randy Johnson gets bounced so early um yeah Ted

19:10

Williams and George Brett I mean Ted Williams literally went to war and then came back and was exactly the same

19:16

player we have to bounce George I'm sorry I'm casting my vote for George

19:21

Brett and then we can move Ted Williams along yeah Ted Williams which unfortunate I mean George Brett okay so

19:29

George Brett technically is the closest to Ted Williams 400 Mark they would say

19:34

Tony Gwyn but Tony Gwyn did it in the shorten season Tony Gwyn hit like 395 but he had it it was a it was the

19:42

lockout shortened season not that I don't count it but there is definitely

19:47

it's it's iffy there if it's a shorten season it just doesn't count if you're not playing yeah the the amount of games

19:54

that you know you normally play like it's unexpected I don't think it counts uh George Brett said he had reporters

20:02

knocking on his door at 3 in the morning trying to get an interview with him in like the last four weeks of the Season

20:07

he had a hire security so that he could sleep he had a hire guard dogs because reporters were climbing the wall in

20:13

front of his house trying to get pictures of him and get get just like a snippet with him uh about the pressure

20:19

of a 400 season and he would have done it he says had he really been able to

20:26

just focus on baseball but know the media part of the game so Ted Williams Ted Williams had to focus on war yeah

20:33

World War II yeah so and he and he hit 400 so I'm I'm gonna I'm just speaking

20:40

my piece on Brett and next up uh Jackie Robinson griffy and Jackie Robinson um

20:46

yeah Jackie yeah it's Gotta Be Jackie It's gotta be Willie Mays and Ernie Banks although he is Mr Cub Willie Mays

20:52

is a top five baseball Mr Baseball top five ball player of all time

20:59

oh 100% moving him on uh Pete Rose and Ty Cobb these are the two worst people

21:07

two of the worst people oh my God in baseball Pete Rose versus Tai Cobb

21:13

um how many people you think would show up for how many people you think would show up for Pete rosen's funeral if he

21:18

died right now cuz like four people showed up to K ta's funeral not even his own family as many as uh I think he

21:24

would get more the the gambling Community is very tight very tight um

21:30

definitely more than who's showing up for OJ's all I think I put the over I think

21:35

I set the over under at 15 people showing up for OJ's funeral so um Pete

21:41

Rose again the all-time hit King uh taob broke ta Cobb's record broke Ty Bas on

21:47

that alone taob also at one point was the hits and the stolen base King so he

21:54

had his also played he played before there were uh black people left or

22:00

allowed in baseball and they played with like a piece of rolled up leather as a

22:06

baseball so it's probably a lot easier to steal second yeah when the base is a burlap sack and your ball is just a

22:13

bundle of leather so yeah string like string and leather that's all it is it's

22:19

not even tied together they just like glued it all they they didn't really wear GL uh

22:26

myths either it tells you how hard they were actually throwing their myth bab Ruth and Stan muel uh muel I keep saying

22:34

it wrong I think uh I do think Babe Ruth is one of the more overrated ball

22:39

players of all time I agree um he but he's better than Stam usual he's Babe

22:45

Ruth um he is he is better than Stan muel uh but he is he is one of the

22:50

players of all time um he also better than Pete Rose better

22:56

than Pete Rose I will give it to them um Pete Rose again the all-time hits King but Babe Ruth you know he's Babe Ruth

23:04

like I think he's also synon I think I think you do have to take that into account as a ball player just as a ball

23:10

player is how impactful they were to baseball bab Ruth has you can't knock

23:15

him out this early um he's the he is the Michael Jordan of baseball he's he's the reason baseball gained like popularity

23:23

across the country they started broadcasting baseball games on the so

23:28

people could hear what Babe Ruth was doing so it's just like he was also an accomplished pitcher as well so you

23:35

can't forget about that before you know when he was with the Red Sox he was a very accomplished pitcher and always

23:41

slow that's true bab Ste Bas in his prime the the trade of Babe Ruth

23:46

literally buried the Boston Red Sox franchise for 86 years and he built Yankee Stadium

23:51

that believe that he built it they say it's the house that Ruth built oh old Yankee Stadium yeah

23:59

yeah Babe Ruth doesn't have 3,000 hits he did well he played for 15 Seasons

24:04

hitting 349 with 659 homers and a one or

24:11

a 1.1 N5 Ops yeah that's that's pretty

24:16

damn good um although he is not the hit King he's not even close to the hit King so uh he's one home Kings yeah Willie

24:25

Mays and Jackie Robinson two the Pioneers for baseball especially

24:33

like black baseball in America that's so hard um this is the toughest one yet

24:38

yeah I would vote for Jackie Robinson well so I I'm

24:45

I'm GNA use someone else's somewhat of of their own uh

24:50

rankings Willie Mays was ranked uh as a top center

24:56

fielder or second best center fielder of all time all right Tai cob is actually the only other one that you could say

25:02

would be better than Willie Mays as a center fielder um this is also I think according to Bill James uh Bill James

25:08

ranked Jackie Robinson as 32nd versus Willie Mays being third of an all-time player um Willie Mays LED in slugging

25:16

Ops Ops plus War home runs runs RBIs hits stolen bases and MVPs versus Jackie

25:24

Robinson leading and batting average and on base percentage but Jackie only half

25:29

his career was taken that's true when did Willie Mays because I know Willie

25:34

Mays did play in The Negro Leagues right yeah let me see what what year held was he when he

25:39

came over he he was he was 20 when he came into the league Jackie

25:46

was 20 or he was 28 when he came in so

25:52

may got eight years on him but we can go with Willie Mays

25:58

Willie Mays was probably a better baseball player even though Jackie was

26:03

already had already reached his prime he was like a year past what would have

26:09

probably been his best season in the majors yeah I um I I think again that

26:16

hurts but like you have to take it for what it is as as a ball player right you you do

26:22

have to take it for what it is as a major league baseball player so and it's sad that Jackie like lost that time he

26:29

didn't get to be in that or he he didn't get to uh show what he truly would have

26:34

been in the majors um but we have to take it for what it is and Jackie just

26:40

didn't have the numbers to be there I think that's you know it is what it is uh Ted Williams versus Nolan Ryan Ted

26:48

Williams it's got to be Ted it it has to be Ted again he literally went to war and came back and was still still what

26:55

he was um the only reason the Red Sox actually didn't win the 1946 World Series was because Ted Williams uh took

27:02

a shot or was hit in the arm with a baseball in the elbow and he broke his elbow but played through it yeah in that

27:09

World Series and they took the cardal seven games probably not as good as he could have been with a broken elbow yeah

27:16

generally that'll knock you down a few pegs statistically and we still took those Cardinals two seven games and they

27:22

had to have the Mad Dash to to beat us um so which is hilarious that red the

27:27

Red Sox like still celebrate the the 46 team and the 75 team as if they won the

27:33

World Series those years like the Fisk home run and the fisc run where he's waving it they like celebrated as like

27:39

oh that was the walk-off to win the game like we won that World Series yeah it's like no I think as a young kid I thought

27:46

we did win those World Series I was like yeah because everyone would talk about 86 years I was like well how because we

27:52

won in 46 and 75 and it was like no no we just got close it was close we got

27:58

really really close Roberto Clement and Hank Aaron it's it's Hank Aon It's hammer and Hank it's hammeron Hank my

28:06

other favorite baseball player Jackie Robinson Roberto Clemy but Hank Aon we just talked on a podcast like seven days

28:13

ago about how freaking good Hank Aaron was Hank Aaron was

28:21

phenomenal all right so we've kind of gone chalk like everything's kind of worked out here although it has been

28:26

interesting how we've kind of gone through the list um yeah Hy we have a one versus five and a

28:33

two versus three so that's somewhat chock but at the same time we've had some upsets along the way but again the

28:38

cream Rises to the top Babe Ruth and Willy m i Babe Ruth

28:43

willly ma it's Willie ma Babe Ruth killed his wife did he really no again that's

28:52

another rumor um his his ex-wife did die in a house fire um so there is a real

28:57

rumor that did but I I don't I don't think it happened but you never know um but Willie Mays is just

29:04

objectively in in my opinion he is the better ball player like he yeah R Ruth

29:09

again played before the Civil Rights Act he he played before World War II even happened World War I was still going on

29:16

when he was playing ball so I I don't I don't know how we can yeah it's just

29:22

it's not him it's it's Willie Mays um 32 3293 hits 660 home runs 301 career

29:29

batting average two MVPs how many allar oh there's too many

29:35

uh too many Allstar put on here right now uh World Series champion 24 time

29:41

Allstar 12 gold gloves two time allstar game MVP yeah holy moly some of these

29:48

guys you you like you you know how good they are then you look at their accolades it's like they're even better than you think he's one of those guys 32

29:56

how many 3,000 hit 600 home run guys are there Aaron Pooh holes Maz who else how

30:03

many 3,600 uh Barry Barry wasn't there right he didn't have 3,000 hits I don't think

30:09

Barry run had 3,000 hits I'm going to look this up because it's a it's a very small group I know the only 73,000 is uh

30:19

Pooh holes and Aaron yeah Aaron A-Rod Aaron Willie Maye and Pooles there's

30:25

four so one of four and they're probably go up against each other here in the finals because Ted Williams and Hank

30:31

Aaron I think I think even more for talking up Willie ma Babe Ruth never

30:38

played night games like they they rarely played night games when Babe Ruth was

30:44

playing um the Fielding was horrible at that time like and you even have to think about the quality of the fields

30:49

like and obviously he's not playing against there there is like what percentage of people were white at that

30:55

time like it was probably like 50% of human beings were probably white at that

31:00

point um your 50% of the population just could not play baseball at that point

31:06

including all of those yeah including I mean if you're counting if you're counting the South Americans

31:13

Caribbean um Japanese and Asian the the the best baseball playing country Japan

31:21

I don't know if they even really started playing baseball yet cuz they discovered baseball through the world war

31:29

so and AR Japan is the best baseball playing country ACC Baseball Classic

31:36

yeah Willie Mays still he played against better players he The Babe Ruth just has

31:41

the asteris forever and bab I'm not knocking what faab Ruth did if he played

31:46

against black players if he played against all other you know he played against other players and he put those numbers up then he is unequivocally in

31:53

my mind the greatest ball player of all time but play he play before World War

31:58

II played before any of this stuff um so it's just not him and then Ted Williams

32:04

and Hank Aaron this is like Battle of the this is the real battle of the Titans here um obviously I think three

32:11

versus two is almost a better matchup in my opinion it's got to be hammer and Hank it's Hank yeah cause he's like we

32:19

said if if you guys are listening to this and you go back and listen to our podcast last week we had our our draft

32:25

we went in a little more in detail about Aon being like number one in almost everything total bases rbi's runs scored

32:32

second all time in home runs uh 20 Seasons with 20 or more home runs he's a

32:39

monster and 3700 hits he's third all time in hits

32:45

and second all time in home runs they just did a thing on MLB Network too Hank

32:51

aend day uh commemorate him hitting number

32:56

715 7 00 home runs 37 you take all of his home runs away he's still a 3,000

33:02

hit guy well and and Williams was also more known for hitting for average right like he was a very welln he's you know

33:09

he's gonna have a really high batting average Hank Aaron is more well known for his power hitting he still had a

33:15

career batting average of 305 even as a power hitter so it has to be Hank Aaron

33:20

here um yeah sorry and I love Ted Williams I just I love Ted Williams I love everything about him he fought you

33:26

know he was a fighter pilot his head's Frozen right now he'll be back soon yeah how does that work he comes

33:33

back how does he work how does it work he come back is he immediately put him into little league no he would have to

33:39

come back as a newborn baby I believe that's how it works you have to Ted Williams would have to come back to be like right now Ted Williams is 11 months

33:46

old you have 17 years and one month until he's back in the major pitchers be

33:53

beware um and then the final Willie Mays Aaron uh extreme I mean this is the

34:01

tough toughest of the tough right you have to this is the discussion here this is you know best player of all time uh I

34:08

don't know where where are you thinking right now um I think I think Willie May was a better defensive player than Hank Aaron Hank is a better offensive player

34:15

but not by much not really not by much um I mean you look at maz's alltime stat

34:21

line his his war is higher career batting average is higher didn't play as

34:27

long Willie Mays played 22 years wait no how long is that

34:34

he was a 20 five-time All-Star so yeah he played Four he was

34:39

an All-Star every single year of his career except his rookie year in the last year he

34:45

played I think I think Willie Mays was the better all-around player just in

34:52

general he was faster um he obviously didn't hit for power like Hank Aaron did

34:57

he had 660 home runs better yeah like you can't even he has 600 something home

35:03

runs versus Power like Hank Aon but yeah he is like one of the five or six best

35:09

home run hitters of all time um Hank Aon was slou Fielder yeah he could he was

35:15

fast he could steal bases yeah most St Bas well hold on Hank Aaron in his in

35:23

1959 had 11 triples 30 or 20 doubles the next year he had 10 triples 39 doubles

35:30

so Hank Aon wasn't slow and he has three Golden Gloves I think you're right I

35:35

think it is Willie Mays but we just have to clear up that Hank Aaron was in his

35:40

prime extremely fast could hit home run singles doubles and

35:45

triples and was not a bad Fielder he just wasn't an elite

35:54

Defender might be the greatest defensive player of all time so

36:00

I think you're right it's it's it's Willie Mays we're going Willie congratulations to Willie Mays on

36:06

winning the uh best player of all time draft I think I think he would ear uh

36:12

bracket I think even if we did like no team Representatives if we just went through the top

36:19

64 I think will may just cut out for just a moment um if you go through the

36:24

top 64 baseball players of all time it's still Willie May to me based on

36:30

based on everything that I've seen now um so yeah that's it um congrats to

36:36

Willie Mays also um OJ Simpson has died I didn't I didn't

36:43

want to cover that at the top I wanted to cover that at the end noticed I didn't say rip to

36:48

O.J I did he Ro for that's true I mean listen he he may

36:55

have been crazy but running for 2,000 yards in a 14 game season is also crazy

37:00

like my that's what my mom I was talking about it with my mom she doesn't understand OJ Simpson ran for 2,000

37:06

yards although people people saying he was innocent he was first off he was

37:12

acquitted so I'll give them that he was also guilty of armed robbery battery and kidnapping in Las Vegas so yes he's not

37:19

an innocent man inocent of murder yeah he's innocent of murder he's guilty of everything else I think his

37:25

son killed both I think was the murder we'll have to you know maybe we'll have to do an episode on

37:32

that as the death gets further away um I also some point talk about I want to

37:37

talk about rayi rice at some point so maybe we'll have to hop back on as that story develops well I guess yeah um what

37:45

are your thoughts on Rasheed rice he should never play football again Chief should cut him yeah uh that's I so did

37:53

not nobody died in that correct no but there were serious there were serious injuries and he was driving 118 mph on

38:00

the freeway racing in a rented car like you're you know that's not a good idea

38:06

if someone asked him ahead of time like hey do you think racing in a Lamborghini on the interstate is a good idea and if

38:12

he said yes then you're too stupid to be playing professional sports anyway and the only reason you could have afforded

38:19

to do that is because of your contract as a star football player um if that's

38:24

what you do with your money I don't want the Chiefs to give him any more money so I'm a I have very very little

38:31

sympathy for reckless drivers drunk like I just people say oh they made a mistake

38:36

while they're driving I just don't care you're putting so many there's families out there like the Henry rugs thing

38:42

people are like he made a mistake I'm like wellist mistake if I go if I go

38:49

into my gun safe take my gun walk outside and shoot into the air if that

38:54

bullet comes out and hits somebody no I wasn't intending to kill someone but the actions that I took part in did

39:01

it you did hurt someone so you're intent doesn't matter in that situation it's

39:07

quote a mistake but you purposely chose to Reckless drive like you know how to not Reckless drive you know how to put

39:13

you know 10 and two you know how to go the speed limit even like a few over like you know four to five over the

39:19

speed I mean we're in Florida like you if he was going 80 if he was going

39:25

80 and I would say oh was stupid he should get a six game suspension he was going 118 miles an hour you were trying

39:32

to see how fast you could go with other people around who are just trying to drive their cars to or from work go home

39:39

there are children in cars it it so easily could have ended with an entire

39:45

family being killed you it's it's beyond me and no I don't

39:51

care that's why I believe we should have testing done we should have testing done more often like you should have to reup

39:56

your license through an actual driver's test and we should also be more strict with how we

40:03

like take like you if you're doing [ __ ] like that like your license should be taken away like I don't understand why

40:08

these people are ever allow like Tiger Woods why is Tiger Woods ever allowed to drive his car he is repeatedly shown he

40:15

cannot be responsible with his car he is also a billionaire and I love Tiger Woods as a golfer I was rooting this

40:21

weekend to drive like why do you yeah why does he not constantly have someone just driving

40:28

him places that is insane there are these people that they've been in like seven car accidents it's all their fault

40:35

like all of them are their fault or maybe even half of them are their fault it's like why are you still allowed to

40:40

drive your car like you can exactly I mean I know our public transportation sucks here but you you made the choices

40:47

like you you have to deal with having to get to work now because you just cannot choose to drive your car in a safe

40:55

manner you're putting thousands of other people in every single day it's crazy um so uh

41:01

we're going to wrap up right there uh that's why I wanted to cover that at the back end of the show because not not an

41:08

awesome topic um but we will uh or make sure to like subscribe comment and we

41:14

will see you on Thursday wait whoops
