probably one of the worst, like just the dumbest advertisements I've ever seen. is the Sydney Sweeney thing. Like come on, dude. I I don't know. It's not like it's a woman who's naked. It's just like I don't need that for what is it, a gambling ad? It's another gambling ad. I'm sick of the gambling ads. Every advertisement that I see on my streaming services is gambling, AI, and like medicine.
That's it. That's all I get.
speaker-2 (01:52)
Can't
block calci on anything. Like I've blocked hashtag Calci, hashtag sports betting, everything. I block every single TikTok creator that posts a calci ad and I just keep getting fed more. And I've already turned him down. I've already turned him down as like a
speaker-0 (02:09)
It this this was gonna be my my hot take, but I'm just gonna do it now. They need to treat gambling like cigarettes. Like they really do. You cannot advertise cigarettes anymore. Like you don't see a cigarette ad in a baseball stadium. I don't wanna see a fan duel ad. I don't wanna see a a DraftKings ad at any stadium, on any broadcast. I'm sick of seeing any sort of gambling ad. And it's usually both. Use AI to help gamble with FanDuel.
Use FanDuel to unlock this free AI app that you can get. Use AI to find the best prescription medication for your illness. I I just don't need it. I don't I'm sick of it. It's enough. It's predatory more than anything. And it I mean most of all it's just a
speaker-2 (02:57)
I said you could I beat AI in sports trivia one time because they like get the wrong information. So don't trust
speaker-0 (03:03)
Yeah.
And now like we're seeing the government the all these AI people are suddenly saying the AI it's too much. We've gone too far. And I think the majority of the public was saying that like six months ago. We were like, it's chill. Chill out. We don't need you super villains to be in charge of this incredibly powerful tool. but I think they're just posturing when they're saying that. But
speaker-2 (03:26)
Do we think
speaker-0 (03:27)
I think it's bullshit.
speaker-2 (03:28)
do we as a male group, like not just us, but men in general, do we find Sydney S Sweeney attractive or have we been told that she's really, really attractive? 'Cause I don't think she's like all that. I don't know. I don't get it. I don't understand the Sydney Sweeney.
speaker-0 (03:46)
She's an a have you seen the ad?
speaker-2 (03:49)
Yeah, but she'll be naked in anything. I think that's like her biggest selling point.
speaker-0 (03:53)
I mean she's an attra I think she's an attractive woman. I don't need to see that in ev in everything or really like especially advertising, you don't need to see that.
speaker-2 (04:04)
By the way, the we can't use YouTube at our school anymore or schools in general, because they are blasting that ad on every YouTube video. So I could be showing my kids a video about like, hey, here's a visualization of how like a square becomes a cube and how to find the area. Boom, Sydney Sweeney's ass. Like, cool, now I'm gonna get fucking written up and suspended for indoctrinating kids with sex. So good stuff. Bullshit. I mean I
I kinda I understand at least the demographic they're trying to appeal to. Just the degenerate gamblers, man. Yeah. Generate gamblers. What
speaker-0 (04:41)
They're gonna gamble anyways.
speaker-2 (04:42)
they're gonna watch. Yeah, the they're gonna watch that stuff and they're gonna go and gamble regardless. I don't see a world where the average person who places a couple sports bets is gonna see that and think, I need to gamble more. Yeah. I don't know. I I I don't understand it.
the and especially the Calchi AI ads that too like I don't I don't know why what they're they're trying to appeal to at least with n with new customers. They're trying to
speaker-0 (05:14)
Yeah, yeah.
speaker-2 (05:15)
successfully don't forget it's predictions. It's trading it's trading prediction marketing predictions.
speaker-0 (05:20)
It's all just slop. It's all just complete and utter like slop. But what was how many men out there do you think saw that Sydney Sweeney ad or a Calchi ad, like any of this stuff, and they're like, yo, that's that's awesome. That's so cool. Like what is the what is the combined IQ of those individuals? Like I I pride myself on being a moron when I come on this program. I'm not that stupid. And I know you guys are not that stupid either, where you're like
Look at Sidney Sweeney sitting on a basketball hoop. That's so hot.
speaker-2 (05:53)
I know who it appealed to. 55 and plus men who are that like, God, my bitch of a wife, don't let me gamble on sports. But then you're like, Sydney Sweeney will fuck me if if I bet on Novig. My bitch wife won't. That's the demographic they're after.
They probably also own a motorcycle that they've only ridden twice.
speaker-1 (06:16)
Yeah.
speaker-0 (06:17)
Yeah, so I guess the conclusion from this one is just stop with all the advertising. I miss when ads gave like a kind of kind of a fuck about what they put out there. Like just like a small amount of care. Can we take this
speaker-2 (06:34)
The Betty White.
speaker-0 (06:36)
one is hilarious.
speaker-2 (06:37)
What's the best advertisement of all time? I say real men of genius by Bud Light.
I was gonna go the Budweiser horse
speaker-0 (06:44)
Or
speaker-2 (06:45)
running out of the most
speaker-0 (06:47)
Yeah.
speaker-2 (06:47)
successful ad campaign of all time is Dosa Keys. The Dosa Keys is the most successful advertising campaign of all time. Because you knew what the product was, people enjoyed watching it, and people want to be like a super interesting, handsome man. So if you drink Dose Keys, you're interesting and handsome. I think that is great. Honorable mention of the Doritos commercial where the guy would
Suck the cheese dust off of the other dude's finger. That was a big one for me. Caleb goes, this is how all my favorite movies start. I bought so many Doritos after that commercial. Did you walk around with Cheeto or Dorito dust reviews? Anyone want some Dorito dust?
speaker-0 (07:28)
Can you just imagine Caleb in the locker room just with red fingers just come on guys?
speaker-2 (07:32)
Boys Wants
a little. Who wants a little?
speaker-0 (07:36)
Imagine Caleb on the mound in the middle of a game. He's like call mound meeting. He's just got red fingers. He's like I need I need a little extra here. I need a little extra
speaker-2 (07:46)
Worse than spider tack. Worse than spider tack. by the way, you know who doesn't use AI? Chaotically intolerant podcast, just to let everybody know that.
speaker-0 (07:58)
Yep. No these are not AI people right here. These are
speaker-2 (08:01)
I am real. As as AI as I look, I am not. Yeah, you don't look like a real guy.
speaker-0 (08:07)
I don't think God could have imagined you existing, but he did it anyways.
speaker-2 (08:12)
Are you ready for my day? Somehow. My wait, this is not take. This is open thing. Okay. My open topic is that if your team doesn't make the playoffs, as in the MLB, and you are not a fucking great defender, you should not win the MVP. You are not Alvarez. If you are DH only and your team does not make the playoffs, you were not that valuable. Now, on the other hand, Junior Camanero.
Who is a bad defender but plays every day in the field and his team is making the playoffs, should be the ALM VP.
Caleb, I'd like to hear from you because you fucking hate the Rays. I do. I do. I mean, outside of Hulmans, Junior Camonero's put up pretty similar stat line to Wilson and Treasures. Nobody's saying anything about Wilson Trace for MBA. Wilson and Treyers should be ahead of Jordan Alvarez. Does Wilson and Trey's play first is he playing first base predominantly? Yeah, he's only played first base. He's been slightly above average defender for the most part. I I know Camonero.
He never does. Never usually Yoshida and all that. I mean Yoshida's been hurt. It's mostly been Mickey Gasper, Jamai Jones, a little bit of Roman Anthony, Jaron Duran. They've kinda rotated it. I mean, I grew up a David Ortiz fan and I watched David Ortiz put up insane seasons for Red Sox teams that maybe didn't even make the playoffs. And I think that there were some seasons he deserved some MVP love, so
I s some MVP love, but not necessarily the MVP. Maybe. Maybe. what was the year A-rod won MVP? Was it 02? He won MVP with the Rangers and they finished in last place. He did. When you're having really good shortstop. A ridiculous season. Like I I don't know if I'd call what Jordan Alvarez is doing a ridiculous season. So that's kind of what makes it hard. I don't have my
Secured AL MVP pick. personally, I think Jordan Alvarez has been the best best player in the American League so far this year. But it's a Had he won the triple crown, then the whole thing's different. Everything changes. Had it had or if he wins a triple crown. Does it? I think that changes. Triple crown's a little overrated, but no, it's not. I mean, he's yeah, I think it is. That's a crazy thing to say. It's a crazy. How many times did it happen in your lifetime? How many times it
One Cabrera. One. Yes. So if this is a a once in a lifetime thing for someone who's That's why I'm not taking a stance exactly, because I I mean Jordan has been the best hitter in baseball. But I I don't know how much value he has
speaker-0 (11:04)
Maybe.
speaker-2 (11:06)
maybe the Astros are a last place team if he's an online team. Maybe the Rays are who knows what the Rays are doing without Junior Cameron. I don't know. It's a really
Weird situation in the AL MVP because now you got Cam Schlitzer, who I hate deep in my heart, but he has undoubtedly provided an insane amount of value to the Yankees, especially with that missing judge. He's been rock solid on the on the pitching s pitching side of things for them. So it's just weird between even even with Bobby Witt, like he's had an incredible season. He deserves a little recognition. Bad team kind of fourth. He'll finish.
He'll top five at l at at the very worst. But i I'm a little I'm a little weird on the on the conversation of the if the team makes the playoffs or not, blah, blah, blah. Which I think as of right now the Astros are in a playoff spot. Yes, but they're I think without your Don they're not even close. I No. Without Jordan they're not close. I think they might be in last place. They might be around A's territory and they are basically out of the No no, they're tied with tet the
with Texas. But if they lose a game You can thank the Red Sun for that. Yeah. Well the Royals beat last
No, they want the they they want the the bottom wild card scene so they can face the Guardians round one.
But this whole AL MVP thing is a little weird for me because it's it's I in terms of value, I think Jordan has provided more value to the Astros. I think the Rays are still making the playoffs without Junior. I don't think the Astros are even in the conversation without Jordan. It's kind of a weird conversation to have, but it can kind of go either way at this point for me. I don't know. I think I think just the fact that Camero plays the field every day.
Is as a but he he does it terribly. He's a bad defender. Terrible. He's just not fucking good at all. He's very bad defensively. He's pretty bad.
speaker-0 (13:08)
He's pretty Jordan is good at the only thing he does. Camonero is about half good. He
speaker-2 (13:14)
Like
your Dawn is providing more value to the Astros by not playing the field. So I don't know if that counts for something, but it's he would be probably the worst defender in baseball. Wasn't he a fucking awful left fielder? I don't even remember him playing left field. I don't remember what No, he doesn't move well, he doesn't have a good glove. I I don't know if he's provided any defensive value
speaker-0 (13:32)
Yeah, w What's
the last time he played the field, like regular?
speaker-2 (13:36)
He's
mixed in a little bit, I think, this year.
speaker-0 (13:39)
But regularly, not not like here and there.
speaker-2 (13:42)
I think he's been a regular outfielder since his rookie year, to be honest. He also I might be wrong, has never fit played a whole season before. No, so pretty much been a D H since his rookie year.
speaker-0 (13:53)
in twenty nineteen he played twenty games in the field. In twenty twenty-one he played forty one games in the field. fifty-six, forty, fifty-three, fifteen, twenty-three, and DH was
How many this year? Twenty three games. A hundred and twenty six games is DH. This was also the most that he's played. Most games he's
speaker-2 (14:21)
That's way more game.
speaker-0 (14:22)
played.
speaker-2 (14:23)
I would have guessed like sa like six, maybe.
speaker-0 (14:26)
His other game his other game totals in nineteen he had eighty-seven. I'm skipping twenty twenty by the way. twenty-one, one forty four, twenty-two, one thirty-five, twenty-three, one fourteen, twenty-four, one forty seven, twenty-five, forty-eight, just forty-eight, and then twenty twenty-six right now he's at one forty eight.
speaker-2 (14:47)
He I don't know. I'm my votes for Cam Monero or Schlitler or Bobby Witt Jr. or Wilson Contreras. I'm on board for Wilson, but right now my vote is your dawn, but it really could go either way for me. I'm if they miss the playoffs does it change? If they miss the playoffs, how much does it change? I think I think it does change. It it explains kind of the the value. I mean
He's done absolutely nothing the last what month? Yeah, the triple crown chase got in his head. He's been pretty bad the last month, and I think that kind of should count for something, especially now being a playoff run. Not in a playoff run like this. I mean, he's he's been a great playoff hitter, but th that that's not gonna matter if they're not gonna get there. So yeah. Kinda see over the next couple of weeks. I think the MVP race is gonna shape up over this last week and a half of the season. What about the NL?
It's locked up PCA. That was see, that was a joke. I was making a joke because it's been over for a month.
speaker-0 (15:49)
September Jordan Alvarez currently batting two twenty five or he's slashing two twenty five, three eighty, four fifty, with two home runs and four RBIs.
speaker-2 (16:01)
Yeah, it's gonna be interesting.
speaker-0 (16:03)
Not good at all. all right. I think that's a good spot. We're going to move into the NFL. Okay, the NFL is back. We have gone through one full week of NFL football. when this releases, we'll probably have the Thursday night game. I'm assuming it's gonna release Friday. last week released on Saturday just because of timing and some recording issues. But the NFL week one tied the most.
Total points ever scored in a single week. it was insane. We had fifty-nine points from the Bears. we had what was it, forty-one from the Ravens over my Colts? Was it forty-one twenty-three? so a lot of offense, sloppy football being played, a lot of sloppy football, specifically the Ravens, a lot of penalties on the Ravens this week. But it was just great to have football on the screen. It was awesome to just
sit back and have football on the screen. and the Chiefs are back. The Chiefs are back, by the way. Just in case you might have thought that they weren't back. They are back. so let's go through every game. We're gonna start with let's see, who do we want to start with? Let's start with Browns and Jaguars. Let's just get this one out of the way. actually I want to get out of the way. This is week one. We're not
We will overreact to these games, but week one means literally nothing in the scheme of things. Both team both Super Bowl teams last year lost in week one. New England lost to the team that had the number one pick. one of the few raider wins came over the New England Patriots in week one last year. So one of the few raider yeah, raider wins came over the I felt like I said that weird. so it really means nothing, but we're gonna overreact anyways to week one.
Jaguars, I still don't think the Jaguars are worth anything. and the Browns are just the Browns. Deshaun Watson looks like he is he is out there at gunpoint. just one of the more hilarious both hilarious incompletion where he was on the run, threw it into double coverage, and threw it so far behind and basically spiked it that not even Jacksonville could pick it off, even though it should have been an easy interception.
and then a hilarious interception from him as well. but I'm not being mean to him. I'm not being disrespectful. I'm not personally attacking Deshaun Watson whatsoever when I say these things. But yeah, the Browns over under three wins for the Browns this year.
speaker-3 (18:48)
I man, I have to think about their schedule. I'm gonna say somehow they get to four.
speaker-0 (18:56)
I'm looking up the schedule right now. So they have Panthers. sorry.
speaker-3 (19:02)
We have
the NFC South. They have the NFC South. so
speaker-0 (19:07)
And the Titans. They do have the Titans. They have the Titans.
speaker-3 (19:10)
Titans, the Colts, the Houston. I don't even think Houston's I well they probably
speaker-0 (19:16)
The
Falcons. They have the Falcons. I think right.
speaker-3 (19:18)
Like I said, the South, I mean to
get a random win against Pittsburgh here and there. Yeah, that the Raiders do they have the Raiders? Yeah, they do. They do. Yeah, there's there's enough there and you figure if they get like three of those games that they're supposed to win, qu not supposed to, but could win, and then maybe there's always, you know, one upset or yeah, I don't know, go to week eighteen and they're playing one of their division rivals who's resting their guys. I don't
But yeah, it's not it's not good. They're not gonna they're not gonna do anything, you know what mean? This year. Yeah.
speaker-0 (19:54)
And yeah, the the the same thing with the Jags. I really don't I just don't see anything fun about the Jags. I will say Liam Cohn is currently fifth in career wins as Jaguars head coach. Do you know who
speaker-3 (20:13)
Yeah, well sure, I guess.
speaker-0 (20:16)
No, who's sixth? Who did he pass?
speaker-3 (20:19)
well let me think. I mean obviously Coughlin's gotta be the goat. He probably passed Doug Peterson, maybe?
speaker-0 (20:26)
Gush Bradley.
speaker-3 (20:28)
Gus Bradley, I was gonna say, you know, he had Coughlin, he had Del Rio. yeah, Gus Bradley. He's kind of the forgotten one in there. Doug Marone, Peterson, Urban Meyer. man. yeah. I maybe I'm missing another one. Well, when they yeah, 'cause when they went to the championship game, it was Marone. But but yeah.
speaker-0 (20:51)
I'm just trying to turn this I'm trying to look at this stat. I believe Liam Cohn
Hold on. How many games did the Jags win last year?
speaker-3 (21:00)
thirteen.
speaker-0 (21:01)
Thirteen, so his fourteen wins, he's done it in thirteen and four, eighteen games. It took Gus Bradley sixty eight games to get to fourteen wins.
speaker-3 (21:15)
Yeah, well yeah, Gus Bradley. I mean the Jaguars, those were some seriously lean years for the Jags. I don't I mean, just in terms of this week, like, you know, the numbers are sexy for Lawrence. I get it. It's one game against the Browns. So it's like you have a game like this and it's like, well, if you're the Jags, what are you supposed to do? You're not gonna make anyone a believer. If you blow out, it's like, well, but yeah, but it's the Browns. And if you
speaker-0 (21:40)
Supposed to
speaker-3 (21:41)
if you yeah, if you barely win, then it's like, Well, how come you
You only barely beat the Browns. And if you lose, everyone's just thinking you're garbage. So they you know, you'd rather if you're a Jaguars fan, you'd rather see this over anything else. Lawrence throws four touchdowns. I mean, they ran it a lot, didn't run it unbelievably effectively. but they're y well, you said there's not excitement. I mean, you could maybe we'll see what Travis Hunter can do. He only had one catch for eight yards, but
speaker-0 (22:08)
Yeah.
speaker-3 (22:09)
they need they need like a receiver to really step up. I mean, Parker Washington
Maybe he's that guy. I mean he had five for eighty three and a touchdown. If Lawrence could ever get like a true go to guy, the Jaguars might be a little better than we give them credit for. If
speaker-0 (22:24)
Yeah. How much did they give Christian Kirk to go there? Like a disgusting amount of money for Christian Kirk. that just concerns me that they need to give Christian Kirk that much money to go there. I mean, you're not getting unless you draft him, you're not getting like a Devontae Adams or you know, a a big name. so yeah, hopefully they can do it. I don't think they ever will. It's Jacksonville. No one wants to play in Jacksonville. We I had people over
And they were asking me about the Jaguar Stadium because none of them have ever been, because who would want to go to T I A Bank Stadium? and they were like, is the pool a real thing? And I was like, yeah, and it's disgusting in there. It's so it's just gross. I've never been, it looks disgusting. The stadium is gross. I would never want to show up to a football stadium in swim trunks.
speaker-3 (23:18)
Right.
speaker-0 (23:18)
That sounds like the worst and then just leaving wet.
You're leaving the stadium so wet and soggy. just sounds like a bad day. Especially like there's nothing it's not like in a northern city where where the stadium is like smack dab in the middle of the bars and you can go to a bar in a bathing suit and be like, I went to the Jags game and got you know, now I'm getting drunk in my bathing suit. Like it's it's not interesting. Bengals thirty three, Bucks twenty seven. the Bengals defense.
Might be back. The Bengals might have the Super Bowl defense again. no, I don't I'm not overreacting to this one either. I I think this was a Baker Mayfield had kind of a weird off season with the contract thing. and it's Todd Bowles as well. the Bengals offense, I think, is is I think that's the thing that was a little more encouraging. Joe Burrow did well, took what
what they were giving him and you know they exploited exploited a lot of the holes that Tampa Bay was showing. So Bucks again another one to just kind of wrap up and say, move to the next, let's go out, let's let's go put a beat down on the Browns next week and get to one and one.
speaker-3 (24:36)
Yeah, the the concerning thing is if you looked at just the passing numbers for Mayfield, you see twenty three for twenty eight, two sixteen, no interceptions. He lost three fumbles. He was sacked four times. So the Bengals defense did force turnovers. They got four of them. they got a fumble from Bucky Irving as well. So four fumble recoveries. They had what a defen they had defensive touchdown and
speaker-0 (25:03)
Yeah NFL debut NFL debut pick six on off Joe Barrow.
speaker-3 (25:10)
Assuming he's Jeremiah's son and that makes me feel old growing up watching Jeremiah Trotter. Yes. But yeah, I mean, so Cincinnati defense scoring, defense getting turnovers and sacks. I I think you can live with Joe Burrow not having huge numbers because people just want to see the defense, you know. I mean, we've we'll we will assume, and I think correctly, that if Burrow is healthy.
And his line is just average, they don't have to great. The Bengals offense is gonna be fine. And they're not a big running team and there's still always that, but they're gonna still score enough points. But if they have an a a defense that can be opportunistic, that changes things. That makes Cincinnati pretty dangerous.
speaker-0 (25:58)
I have a kind of a crazy stat for this game. Forty two point nine percent of Baker Mayfield's pass attempts were behind the line of scrimmage.
speaker-3 (26:08)
That's that's awesome.
speaker-0 (26:10)
Todd.
I mean that's a Todd Bowles offense. That feels like Todd Bowles.
It just it does. It feels like so much Todd Bowles in that for some reason he's just like put every Todd Bowles thing you can think of into the offense now. not good.
speaker-3 (26:26)
They better yeah.
Or he's or Bowles could be on the hot seat. I mean he should be, but what do we know?
speaker-0 (26:32)
Let's see what their I wanna see what their schedule is because if it gets ugly, like this could get very ugly quickly for them. Browns and then the Vikings, you don't know what you're getting from the Vikings, you don't know what you're getting from the Packers, you don't know what you're getting from the Cowboys, and then the Steelers as well. This very easily could be a one and five Buccaneers team by Halloween week.
speaker-3 (27:00)
Like there'll be three and three after six games and then Bowles will keep his job.
speaker-0 (27:04)
He'll find he'll find a way. He probably will. I mean, I I see like the Packers game. The Packers are probably gonna blow another big lead in the second half. and Baker marches him back. Carson Wentz could definitely shit the bed against Mi or in Tampa against Minnesota. And then Steelers feels like Rogers, they just find a way. but fair it's it's likely. I think there is a path where they're one and five by by the end of that stretch.
And Bowles hopefully just gets the axe. to the Jets and the Titans. really funny quote from Robert Salah. He said he would have bet, I think he would have he said he would have bet his entire family that they would have come out in the second half and played better and they just didn't. Wow. He said that in in the post game presser. love that. That's so funny. but the Jets, hey, it's great to be a New Yorker right now.
Besides being a Mets fan, it's really great to be a New Yorker. the Jets and the Giants are one and again, I mean, Tennessee did not look good. I I was very high. I was high on Tennessee. I was hoping it was gonna be maybe like a close game, but not even close. so yeah. Good for the Jets. They won twenty three ten.
speaker-3 (28:27)
Yeah, it doesn't matter if you're playing the Titans, there's no such thing as a game that the Jets should ever win. Right. So if if they come out and start one and and I think someone told me that the Jets and Giants are one and for the first time since two thousand nine, which was the last year that they actually played at the old Giants stadium. So it's pretty amazing that it's taken that long, seventeen seasons to be exact, for both New York teams to win in week one.
I I have to cross reference that because it seems odd, but I do know that even in 2011 the Giants lost their opening game, won the Super Bowl. But anyway, yeah, Geno Smith, efficient. Geno Smith did not turn the ball over. He recovered his own fumble, but he didn't throw any interceptions. Good completion percentage. And Brees Hall. Kind of easy to forget about Brees Hall because he's been hurt. You know the potentials there, but he hit a Hundo.
Jets ran it 39 times, like kind of an old fashioned kind of game for the Jets. And they kind of stuffed Cam Ward. He had a hundred and forty yards passing. They sacked him three times. He he only ran four times for twenty-one yards. So it it was you know, I I'm not like, my God, Jets are gonna win the Super Bowl, but could the Jets push for like a seven eight win season? Maybe. Maybe it's not so crazy.
Maybe
speaker-0 (29:54)
That is their super role.
speaker-3 (29:56)
that is well, maybe we have to think that even some great coaches, you gotta give them three years. I I've I've heard that from a few people. Every coach, unless it goes really, really bad, should get three years to implement his program. Didn't go well in year one for Aaron Glenn. This is year two. Geno Smith's not the long term answer quarterback, but he may be a lot better in the short term than people give him credit for. Healthy Brees Hall.
Solid defense. I don't know. They probably won't finish in last because Miami's in the east. So maybe that's yeah. Maybe that in and of itself. And if look, if they can s get a win at some point this year against either New England or Buffalo, th there might be s there might be some small building blocks here for the Jets.
speaker-0 (30:43)
Yeah. to Pittsburgh. the Steelers survive the Cooper Rush led Falcons twenty to thirteen. they are listen, we said they were the same Steelers as the Mike Tomlin said that is a Mike Tomlin win against a team that realistically they should have, I mean, they should have won by at least two scores, right?
I is that e no matter how good or bad, like the Falcons are so bad. They looked horrible. Cooper Rush looked was just not good. They even had a pick six. If you don't have a pick six, this game's tied. And Nick Folk missed two field goals in this game. So if you if those things just go the Falcons' way, the Falcons win this ball game. Now again, I I hate the I hate the if this then that, because you never know. It's a butterfly effect. But
This game, I mean, a a legitimate football team does not win this game twenty to thirteen. I don't care who it is. Just bad. I mean, there's just nothing exciting about the Steelers. There's nothing exciting about Flock Rodgers. Just get the Steelers off my screen. I don't want to watch them on primetime. I don't want to watch them ever. They're s they're not good.
speaker-3 (32:00)
Yeah, they're so middle of the pack. the numbers were astoundingly bad on both sides in this game. Combined thirty-one first downs combined five for twenty-five third down conversions, not to mention for two on fourth down, combined five hundred and two yards of total offense. you know, it's sixteen penalties between the teams for a hundred and forty-eight yards.
I mean, th this was a combination of a mediocre team against a bad team combined with the sloppiness of week one. And all this does, in my opinion, for the Steelers is check a box. Great. McCarthy won his first game as a great Aaron. There you go. Yeah, Aaron Rodgers wins his last season opener. Every team in the NFC South lost on Sunday.
So the ON One Falcons are still tied for first. That's the good news. Maybe if they
speaker-0 (33:03)
The Steelers beat a first place team.
speaker-3 (33:05)
The Steelers beat a first place team. Yeah. And and I mean look look, TJ Watt, you know, because he had some health stuff going on. Good to see him back out there. He's a he's a a difference maker, obviously. you know, two sacks, he had the the the touchdown. He
speaker-0 (33:24)
He was the
speaker-3 (33:25)
was the
speaker-2 (33:26)
What's the difference?
speaker-0 (33:26)
Difference.
speaker-3 (33:27)
Yeah, it it was. And and they held Robinson to 83 yards and he also fumbled a couple times, lost one.
So it you know, win ugly, that was a Tomlin way, at least in these last this last decade of sort of slightly above average Steeler football teams. And so far I don't see any reason to think that this isn't kind of the same deal. Nine or ten win Steeler team that if they're really lucky, they win one playoff game. If
speaker-0 (33:55)
Yeah, I'll I'll go the over the fourth quarter drive chart. it was thirteen to ten in the fourth quarter, until the TJ Watt picked six that made it twenty to ten, and then an Atlanta field goal, Pittsburgh missed field goal on the next drive, punt end of game.
speaker-3 (34:17)
Yep. Yeah.
speaker-0 (34:18)
Just awful. Really awful. Awful. Just gross, disgusting football that I never want to see.
speaker-3 (34:25)
I I yeah. I didn't do well, I don't think, with my week one picks, but the one I actually felt belt best about was the under in this game. So glad I at least got one of these right. It was like forty two and a half or something. Yeah. Maybe
speaker-0 (34:42)
All right.
speaker-3 (34:43)
but yeah.
speaker-0 (34:45)
We're gonna cover this game a lot more in the All right, let's move let's move to Detroit and New Orleans. Crazy one. Tyler Shuck making his MVP case. He currently leads the NFL in passing yards. listen, I'm I'm I'm I'm gonna push this. I'm gonna push all of this propaganda, the Tyler Shuck propaganda. Looked bad. Looked they looked the Saints did not look good in the first half, but marched back.
I also don't know what a fumble is anymore versus an incomplete pass. it's just it's so funny because Jared Goff, we were everyone remembers the I believe it was the 2018 NFC title game with the no PI. Of course Jared Goff is the quarterback who benefited from it against New Orleans, and then Jared Goff benefits from another questionable call against the New Orleans Saints.
the Saints just have to hate this guy. They they fucking hate Jared Goff. again, I don't know what a fumble is. I can't even tell ya. If if it were me and I've been watching football since I was like eight, nine, seven, eight, nine, however old, it was a fumble. It was definitely a fumble and it's a Saints touchdown, but
I don't know. I don't know anymore. Mike, we don't even know what a catch is. So but the Lions, again, this was one of those it's it's one of those the Lions are a very questionable team right now. wasn't a lot to be excited about going into the year. You know, last year was definitely disappointing for him. and the Saints were are very much an underdog at this moment. so it it was a tale of two halves. I think the Saints settled it.
I think the Lions are better than that second half, but I think the Saints really settled in. They're like, okay, we can do this. We know how play. I think they might be that Lions team that won like eight games. They could be that won eight games and then the next year were were really, really good. maybe they'll have a big victory in week eighteen to knock someone out the playoffs.
speaker-3 (36:52)
Yeah,
w look, they're one and They ran the ball well. It was seven nothing at the half, ended thirty one to thirty. They they found a way to win a game. I mean, I don't I don't know why there's so much, you know, negativity about the Lions. And we'll we'll see, obviously, I know New Orleans it's a you're supposed to win, but sometimes winning ugly is okay, especially in week one.
speaker-0 (37:13)
Yeah. Sorry, it was twenty one nothing through the third, through the middle of the third, I apologize. Right.
speaker-3 (37:19)
I think it was seven.
speaker-0 (37:20)
half time, which is seven yeah. It was ugly for both sides.
Buffalo Houston. The Bills survive in Houston. 3631. No defense here. you would have really thought that we would have seen a much more of a defensive game. no defense whatsoever. And Josh Allen, Josh Allen's Josh Allen. six of seven for one forty nine and a touchdown on throws that traveled more than ten air yards downfield. He's he's just that guy.
Nothing else sick.
speaker-3 (37:55)
I don't know. Yeah. just like it's like he has to play great for the Bills to win. And that's why I don't think the Bills are a championship team or why they haven't been one at least to this point. And and the Texans are just the Texans. Like there's nothing you could say. CJ Stroud, I don't care what his numbers said. The game's on the line, they get down first and goal at the nine yard line. Sack incomplete, strip sack and fumble. Like that just can't it can't happen. It can't happen. You can't go you can't go backwards.
I mean, don't score, they make a great a great goal line stand or ball bounces off a receiver's hand, so be it. That was a disastrous end of the game for Houston. And then Stroud, in my opinion, even though his numbers on paper look pretty good, did nothing, in my opinion, to dispel the notion that he's just not at the level he needs to be. And the and that you know, David Montgomery wasn't all that great, although he had two touchdowns, yeah.
I don't know. Josh Allen's Josh Allen. Stroud is Stroud and the Texans aren't for the twenty fifth year in a row going to an AFC championship game. You heard it here first. Probably not first, but you heard it here.
speaker-0 (39:06)
I have a couple of stats. The Bills' explosive play rate was 21.2%. It's the highest ever against a D'Amico Ryan's Texans defense. really just ugly. Like that that's that's not some if you're the best defense in the league, you can't come out week one and do that. You're just it's gonna take away a lot of that consideration. they're gonna have to earn it over the next few weeks. And then Dalton Kincaid.
Hundred and thirty receiving yards, which is the most for a Bills tight end since nineteen sixty seven. Pretty crazy. Dalton Kincaid. but yeah, I mean the Bills again, it did it's concerning because it's the way the Bills have won for so many of Josh Allen's years. And it feels like they're unstoppable and it feels like they're they're invincible.
Till they're not. And I want to see them win in those. I want to see them win in the closer games. I really do. to the the very exciting one. Bears 59. Carolina Panthers 37. you gotta feel for you gotta feel for Bryce Young here. I mean, you put up 37 points and you lose by 22 points. not much you can really
Not much more you can ask of the Panther offense here. It's just Caleb Williams, I think he's on the MVP on the MVP trail right now. and you have to do that week one. You just have to.
speaker-3 (40:44)
Man, yeah, Caleb, two T Ds was arm, two with his legs, thirty-nine carries, two ninety-one on the ground for the Bears. yeah, I wouldn't say they're the monsters of the midway on defense. Obviously giving up 37 and 37. But when you score fifty nine, your defense is out there a lot. It's just gonna be a lot of you know, yards through the air, which it was three sixty three sixty one for Young. But no, I I I think the Bears are
They have a chance to be really good this year. because again, they got the taste of that playoff experience last year. They won a game, they very easily could have been in the in the NFC championship game. And Caleb Williams is kind of, you know, whatever you want to say, marches to the beat of his own drum and all that. But I don't know if the Bears have had a quarterback like this in a long time, maybe ever, with this kind of upside. So
He can do it with his arms. And you don't think of him like you don't think like, Caleb Williams, a real big running threat. Like obviously he can. But if he's gonna make the defense respect what he's doing with his legs, again, 10 for 65 and a two touchdowns, he had six rushing touchdowns as team. That just opens things up so much for the Bears offense. And, you know, who's gonna be that number one receiver, that that main guy? I they all.
All the receivers had pretty solid games. Raymond, Burden, Odunze. I don't know. I still don't know how to say his name. Odunze. Odunze. Command had a touchdown. You know, Colson Loveland didn't even catch a pass. He's a guy we expect to be, you know, pretty big part of the offense. So I think all around, good for the pa for the Bears, Panthers. Good that Bryce Young had good numbers and put up thirty seven points. But man, the the run defense can't be given up 291 yards and six touchdowns.
Just not gonna work.
speaker-0 (42:40)
With four minut with just under four minutes left in the third quarter, the score of this game was thirty one to thirty one.
Yeah. That's crazy. And it finished fifty-nine to thirty-seven. This was a tie game late in the third and it finished in a boat race. Like this was there was no Carolina, like if you look at this you just look at the score here, Carolina doesn't even look close. It doesn't even look like this was a ball game. It was tied. I mean, if you're a Panthers fan, this is probably the the best case
scenario for a loss to feel like this. Cause at least the offense is not the problem. Right? 'Cause for a while it felt like the Carolina defense was was doing the work and the offense was just horrible to watch and it was so difficult to just sit there and watch a Panthers game. You can watch the this is a fun game to watch. If you lose, it sucks. You hate to lose. But at least seeing Bryce Young, like seeing him be able to put up those points, that's the important thing here. So
I like it, but yeah, crazy, crazy game. all
speaker-3 (43:54)
Combined penalties, yep.
speaker-0 (43:56)
Oof. Yeah. Woof. looking up yeah, here we go. Ninety-six combined points is the most in a week one game in NFL history. 2018 Saints Bucks was the pri previous one. 59 points is the second most they've scored in a game in the Super Bowl era. Last time they did it was nineteen eighty. They scored sixty-one points versus the Packers.
It's also the most in a regular season road game that they've ever scored. So pretty pretty crazy. Cardinals, Chargers, Ice Jacoby Brissett, quarterback for life in Arizona. Also, the the Madison Beer thing, I don't need to see Madison Beer when the Chargers are losing by two scores to a team that might have the number one pick.
Just they should not show the quarterback's girlfriend when it's that bad. You can't do that. That's that's showing Taylor Swift, you know, when if the Chiefs are are just getting their break speed off of him. But Cardinals I think we kinda said it, like the Cardinals are kinda seem prime to have an early early season run, maybe win a few big ones. This is one of and the Chargers just chargering. This is
prime definition. A game they absolutely should have won at home and they couldn't do it.
speaker-3 (45:26)
They suck. I I don't really have much to say. I think Harbaugh, Jim Harbaugh needs to be on the hot seat. I mean, he's supposed to bring, you know, discipline and toughness. and you know, he he he got the Niners to a championship game off a ten loss season in his first year ever coaching in the NFL as a head coach. Yeah. And the Chargers have yet to win a playoff game under him, right? They got bounced badly by the Texans. What was that?
Two years ago, and then this come out flat against Arizona. Maybe Arizona will prove us wrong and actually be a decent team, but even so, you just can't you you can't lose this one, and you certainly can't lose it by scoring one touchdown in the second half and nothing in the fourth quarter. Just charge
speaker-0 (46:12)
Yeah.
speaker-3 (46:13)
chargering indeed.
speaker-0 (46:16)
Dolphins Raiders. Again, not really much here. Malik Willis looked willing to you know, take some deep shots. besides that, I mean it was it was the Kirk Cousins Kirk Cousins experience. Three touchdowns, two picks, but the game was never really I mean, it was seventeen thirteen in the third quarter. That was about as close as we were getting. but it didn't really feel like this game
Just doesn't feel like this game matters like whatsoever. I could care less.
speaker-3 (46:46)
Somebody had to win it. Cousins and his little cute, I'll win you a few games, make you think that I'm the guy kind of deal.
speaker-0 (46:55)
Max Crosby, big one though, coming off the injury. One and a half sacks, seven pressures in this one.
speaker-3 (47:02)
Well, guess they're happy that trade didn't go through.
speaker-0 (47:06)
Yeah. That's pretty much all I have on this one. Eagles, Commanders, Philly survives twenty four, twenty two. Again, just Philly like not exciting. The these teams that like we look at the Chiefs you know, you look at the Chiefs and you look at at the Eagles, really those two teams feel like they've kind of dominated the the power rankings, right, of the NFL of like these are the two premier teams. They just don't win games.
in exciting ways, you know? and I don't know. Jaden Daniels was fine. I thought he looked fine. He had a few a few good plays, a few doy-doy plays. but yeah, the this game this game was really not exciting either. I actually didn't really pay too much attention to this game. I'm not gonna act like I really cared about this game at all.
I just wanted Philly to lose. That was really all I cared about.
speaker-3 (48:06)
yeah, the Eagles tough to say, you know, based on this game, but hurts, you know, three touchdowns, no picks. Barkley with five and a half a carry like there's signs there of maybe what the Eagles can be, you know, can they be closer to what they were in twenty four than they were last year?
speaker-0 (48:25)
Scott or two touchdowns.
speaker-3 (48:27)
Yeah, and you know, Zach Bond had a good game defensively and you know, wasn't I I mean
They held Daniels to a buck sixty four. you know, they they did a pretty good job on the run game. And they made a play on defense when they had to. I I don't know, you know, a division win to start the year. Again, like, what more do you want? You know, you want Philly to to to boat race them like they did in the NFC championship game two years ago? Not gonna happen. You know, rivalry game right out of the gate. So yeah, hard to say, but I do think that Philly's gotta be at least
Cautiously optimistic.
speaker-0 (49:03)
Yeah. also Stefan Diggs had a digs moment, scored a touchdown, and then got an unsportsman like penalty on the celebration. 'Cause he he did the Antonio Brown hugging the the goalpost. We know you can't do that. He he just knows that. That's so so dumb. did that did that end up affecting the game heavily?
Think it kinda did. Yeah, it did. Yeah.
Kind of. Kinda did. Meh. They could have gone for two, I guess, in a in a moment. Packers Vikings. Carson Wentz show. Carson Wentz is back. the Packers have lost is it five straight games going back to last year? I think it's five straight they've lost.
speaker-3 (49:51)
Think it's six?
speaker-0 (49:53)
Six. It might be six. And I think like four of they had second half leads that they blew.
speaker-3 (49:58)
Yeah, I don't know. I mean, this ominous start for the Packers to, you know, kind of come out and looked like they were in decent shape. I mean, they were up nineteen to ten at halftime in this game. They're actually up twenty two to ten till late in the third quarter and gave up twenty nine unanswered. Cars to Carson Wentz. Three touchdowns.
Aaron Jones had a touchdown against his old team.
speaker-0 (50:31)
Is Carson Wentz the next revived quarterback come from Minnesota?
speaker-3 (50:36)
I don't know. I mean
speaker-0 (50:38)
We thought it was Kyler Murray. It might be Carson.
speaker-3 (50:40)
Might
see, but yeah, yeah, who knows? I mean, Carson look it's easy to forget, you know, there's a lot of Carson Wentz haters and people think he was a bust or whatever. It's easy to forget that in 2017 he was a legitimate front runner for MVP. And that team was, I think, like ten and two or eleven and two when he got hurt, and obviously Nick Foles went on and did what he did. But you know, Wentz put them in great position.
To go and win the Super Bowl. So, yes, things have been tough since then. You know, and any quarterback that has an injury, not every quarterback can come back to being great after tearing their ACL. I mean, like the Brady was Brady's Brady. I felt like another guy who was a top pick who tore his ACL and was never quite the same, even though he had a long career, was Carson Palmer. You remember Carson Palmer, speaking of guys named Carson. So I don't know if this is like
revival for Wentz, or he's just in the right system the way that Sam Darnold was and how it revived his career. You could be right. Helps when Justin Jefferson is playing like Justin Jefferson and like he did. And the Vikings defense, they just they they just find ways to make plays. They're not, you know, man for man, the most talented defense, but it's guys it's it's, you know, veteran guys, long in the tooth, Kyle Van Noy
Is is on the defense now and you know, Van Ginkle and they they and then Harrison Smith is back for his fiftieth year or whatever. It's so it I don't know. I don't know, but I think that if if Green Bay gets off to a rough start, that seat for Matt LaFleur is gonna get even hotter and it might be pretty warm as it is.
speaker-0 (52:30)
Yeah, I mean it was it was warm coming into this year. they do have they have a lighter schedule. They they see the Jets and the Falcons over the next two weeks. Thursday night football against Falcons week three. And then the Bucks, Bears, Cowboys, Lions, Panthers. and then they'll see the Patriots and then the Vikings again. So yeah. one thing to note, the Vikings blitzed an eighty three percent.
Of passes.
speaker-3 (53:02)
Forget what play it was.
speaker-0 (53:04)
Kyler Murray's first pass was an interception.
speaker-3 (53:08)
No, no, I was talking about the defense. Jordan Love. It was like the offensive line look wasn't even there. He it was like ten guys closed in on him for a sack on one of the play. I just I I didn't get a chance to really watch the game. I saw a couple highlights, but when they got after him, they got after him. He was sacked four times, but they they got a lot of heat, especially in the second half on Jordan Love.
speaker-0 (53:32)
In funny enough, in the old Tecmo football game, you know, there's only there's eight plays and the defense picks a play and the offense picks a play. And if you pick if the defense picks the same play the offense picks, the offensive line collapse collapses, and the defense just gets free reign at the quarterback, it's almost an automatic sack, unless you have like Dan Marino who can get the ball out really fast. that's probably what that looked like. Just immediate
Boom, like you're dead. I I that's just what I think of when I think of a collapsing offensive line. let's go to the NFC East. for the first time in four years, three years, four years, the New York Giants have scored a touchdown on opening night. Opening day, opening night. the New York Giants did not score a touchdown for their last three week one games. Wow. including a forty to nothing.
Blowout loss to the Dallas Cowboys.
speaker-3 (54:31)
Yeah, in the rain and that one.
speaker-0 (54:34)
Yeah. But I don't know. Are the Gi are we taking this seriously? I mean, the Cowboys just their defense is so revamped. It's a brand new I hate defending the Cowboys too. Like I hate doing this. I just really don't see a ton to be excited about with this Giants team still. I just don't trust them. Also, you mentioned Isaiah Likely. Isaiah Likely, two touchdowns in this game.
speaker-3 (55:02)
yeah, John Harbaugh and he he tackled Harbaugh had a tackle too. He tackled Malik Neighbors is the story there. He he took him down and new coach bump, new team bump, whatever you want to call it. Like you said, for a team that hasn't scored a touchdown on an opening day in three years, for a team that won how many games they win last year? Four, five, I don't know. But just
speaker-0 (55:24)
Nothing.
speaker-3 (55:25)
like for a team that's been losing a lot of games.
these last few years to come out and have their quarterback throw three touchdowns with no interceptions, for them to run 37 for 165 as a team, for their new tight end to put up two touchdowns. I I get it. You know, Dallas is Dallas. I don't I personally expect nothing other than pretty much mediocrity. But when you've been a team that's been losing a lot, division rival comes into your house and you put up twenty eight and you hold them I mean you see, you know, twenty points, but
They didn't and Cowboys had 244 yards of total offense. This wasn't like one of those where they moved the ball up and down the field, and you know, yeah, they had nine penalties for 90 yards. The Giants had 10 for 14. I mean, so many penalties in week one. But time of possession, the Giants controlled. They had it almost 37 minutes. It was like a winning formula, you know, and whether they could sustain it, we'll see. But again, divid you know, we the I didn't even think we had the four NFC East teams all playing in week one, which is
Bizarre. But you get a division win to start the year.
speaker-0 (56:31)
Yeah.
speaker-3 (56:31)
Vibes are probably good right now for the Giants. And there's a long way to go. The whole season basically. But you know, for Harbaugh, that's a it's a great start.
speaker-0 (56:43)
This is the third Giants win over the Cowboys in their last nineteen meetings. Yeah. That's that's so bad. That's so bad. They've been bad for that long.
speaker-3 (56:56)
Well, yeah, but and and we could talk too. The Giants schedule. They're at the Rams Monday night. That'll be tough. But Tennessee, Arizona, Washington, New Orleans, and Houston leading up to their bye. There's a chance the Giants could be, you know, maybe five and two. Maybe that's a bit pie in the sky, but four and three. They're seven games. And then then they get Philly and Washington in a span of four days. A Sunday game against Philly, Thursday against Washington. So
There's I think giant fans are allowed to be a little bit
speaker-0 (57:29)
absolutely. You can be happy. Absolutely. Week one win. pr I'm seeing this prior to Sunday. The Giants were and eight against the Cowboys in week one primetime games. This is their first ever week one primetime win over the Cowboys. Jackson Dart also highest completion percentage of his career, seventy nine point three. second career game with three plus touchdowns. And I did mention that the Giants
have won three of nineteen. They've also won back to back against the Cowboys now. Back to back. So reason to look up. Reason to look up for for the Giants. so hey, good for good for them. I'm not gonna hate on them. I'm not gonna jump down their throat. I just I just don't trust them. I just don't trust the Giants. I don't know why. It's just it doesn't feel doesn't feel like there's a lot of longevity to it.
And Camp Scadabou doing the backflip. They gotta get him to stop. He's gotta stop. Put put a leash on him. Stop it. Really terrifying. and then the Monday night game. Patrick Mahomes is back. He He looked like he didn't even tear his or he didn't tear his Achill or his ACL. I'm sorry, I keep wanting to say Achilles. I'm thinking of Scataboo. but I mean he rushing touchdown, Chiefs in control the whole game.
but I do think the more concerning thing was Denver and Sean Payton not being the offensive play caller. that's the real big concern here. And Denver has a big get right game coming up. They they need to get right this week. they're gonna be seeing the the Jaguars. So this could be a confidence builder. I really hope they kind of give us the temperature on the Jaguars. The Jaguars just aren't that good.
It's also in Denver and it's gonna be hot. Hot in elevation, never fun. So, anything on the Monday night game, Mike?
speaker-3 (59:36)
Yeah, there's man, we're really gonna have to deal with the Chiefs again, aren't we? I mean last year I mean remember it wasn't just yeah, Mahomes was hurt, but they weren't good before Mahomes was hurt. No, it wasn't like, it was only because he was injured. I mean, they were on the brink of six and eight the game that he got hurt and then lost the last three after. But man, if Kenneth Walker is is that guy who was Super Bowl in
speaker-0 (1:00:03)
Maybe
he listened to our episode 'cause we were so wrong about him.
speaker-3 (1:00:08)
Yeah, I wasn't well
speaker-0 (1:00:10)
I was more down on him than you were.
speaker-3 (1:00:12)
you were yeah, yeah. I th I think no there's reason to really like him. But you're right. I think if you watch the highlights, Denver missed a lot of tackles, blew assignments. It was it was a sloppy game for them. So I'm not buying so much of this wow, the Chiefs were so dominant. I mean, you know, Mahomes had the T D run, but his numbers were still somewhat modest, you know. I don't this is not the Chiefs of
you know, twenty nineteen or twenty two, twenty-three. But they might be still pretty good. And but for Denver, yeah. I mean, it's funny because you would have thought, yeah, Nick's broke his ankle. That's maybe not quite the same, right? Tearing an ACL and coming back. Mahomes isn't even supposed to be back, but Nyx looked like the really rusty one here. And they only ran fifteen for sixty one. That's yeah, I don't know. I I
They very well may be and two. I know you're not always high on Jacksonville, but Jacksonville got him last year.
speaker-0 (1:01:13)
I don't know if Denver could beat anyone after after last night.
speaker-3 (1:01:17)
Right. And they've got the Jaguars, the Rams, the Forty Niners, the Chargers, Seattle coming up.
speaker-0 (1:01:25)
Jesus.
speaker-3 (1:01:26)
Like that is a gauntlet. So you were saying I forget who it was, you were like they could be Bucks. The Bucks could be one and five. Denver could be one and five. Or worse.
speaker-0 (1:01:35)
It could be O and six.
speaker-3 (1:01:36)
It could be and six. I don't think they will, but but there's there's some tough games coming up next to it or at home, but
Jacksonville, like I said, Jacksonville spanked him last year in Denver. That was like I think the only game Denver lost after week three with Bo Knicks. So even that one, not a gimme at all.
speaker-0 (1:02:00)
Yeah. Alrighty. Well that's week one's games. We're gonna pick week two. Thursday we are you can tell if we're right or wrong. but Lions Bills. Bills are minus four and a half.
speaker-3 (1:02:16)
I'm gonna say the Bills. New stadium bump.
speaker-0 (1:02:19)
Yeah, new stadium bump, Josh Allen, gimme the Bills as well. I think they'll cover that four and a half. Panthers, Falcons in Atlanta, Carolina, minus two and a half.
speaker-3 (1:02:34)
I can't stand the Falcons in Atlanta suckfest. I'll just take Carolina.
speaker-0 (1:02:39)
Carolina and they're gonna cover that. I'm s I'm very confident they'll cover that. The Falcons are just so bad. I don't care who it is. It c it could be Olomide Zacchius as their quarterback 'cause he was the emergency number three for for their game on Sunday. Vikings Bears Chicago minus four and a half. Carson Wentz and Caleb Williams massive offensive explosion incoming.
speaker-3 (1:03:04)
I don't think the Bears are gonna get fifty nine again, but I'm gonna take Chicago.
speaker-0 (1:03:08)
Weirdly like Nah, I'm gonna go the Bears. I think the Vikings will cover though. I think it'll be a close one. just 'cause it's su it's gonna be such a weird game. Eagles, Titans, Philly, minus seven in Tennessee.
speaker-3 (1:03:22)
Ooh, minus seven. It's a lot of points. But I'm gonna take Tennessee to cover in a close loss. I don't know why. This feels like a
speaker-0 (1:03:36)
Little bit of a trap.
speaker-3 (1:03:38)
Rephilly, yeah.
speaker-0 (1:03:39)
Who does Philly have week three? Because if they have a big matchup, then I would definitely go with that. they got the yeah, they got the Bears week three in Chicago.
speaker-3 (1:03:50)
Yeah.
speaker-0 (1:03:52)
Major trap. Look out. I'm I'm gonna say Titans. Give me Titans, my upset, upset, early upset of the year. I'm going with
speaker-3 (1:04:02)
That's confident, but I think they'll cover.
speaker-0 (1:04:05)
Fuck it, I'm going with the Titans. Steelers, Patriots, New England. Five and a half point favorites in New England.
speaker-3 (1:04:12)
Probably a get right game for New England. I I know that there's a lot to be desired, but I think Mike Frabel gets his team turned around quickly against a
speaker-0 (1:04:20)
They're not that bad. They're just not that bad.
speaker-3 (1:04:22)
No, and the Steelers should probably be and one.
speaker-0 (1:04:25)
I mean one and one. they should have been
speaker-3 (1:04:28)
I'm
saying that like they didn't do anything really. Atlanta just kinda gave him that game.
speaker-0 (1:04:33)
Yeah. yeah, I'm gonna go New England cover cover that five and a half. Packers Jets, Green Bay, three and a half point favorites in New York.
speaker-3 (1:04:45)
Look out, Jets. Going Jets.
speaker-0 (1:04:50)
Jets. I'm going with the Packers. The Jets are not 2-0. They are not 2-0. I don't believe it in my soul. they're just not that
speaker-3 (1:05:01)
New York Knicks bump. Jets two and
speaker-0 (1:05:04)
That only
works for week one. That for the Jets that only works for week one.
speaker-3 (1:05:08)
all the pressure in the world is on Green Bay in this game, right? 'Cause they've got you know, got some tough games. Right.
speaker-0 (1:05:15)
There is a lot of pressure, but the j
speaker-3 (1:05:17)
Like it's this is I know my gut says, right, they're not gonna lose what, seven in a row. I I probably should rethink that. But you know what? I wanna ride the green wave.
speaker-0 (1:05:27)
Bo yeah, the I was singing the Packers 'cause they also little green too.
speaker-3 (1:05:33)
Green and gold. I'm gonna go the gangri.
speaker-0 (1:05:38)
the Baker Bowl, Browns, Bucks, Tampa Bay, eight and a half point favorites in Tampa.
speaker-3 (1:05:44)
I I don't like laying that many points, but I'll still take the bucks because
speaker-0 (1:05:48)
Bucks minus twenty five. Bucks minus twenty five. Baker has a vendetta.
speaker-3 (1:05:56)
Yeah, this does feel like a real bounce back game for the Bucks.
speaker-0 (1:06:00)
Bucks by a million. no way.
speaker-3 (1:06:04)
You know, and what what a what a mean trick for the schedule makers because you know if you you play in Cleveland, it's cold, and you see on your schedule you've got at Tampa and at Jacksonville, you're like, please let those games be in December or January, right? And they're both two weeks of the season at Jacksonville at at Tampa takes away two warm weather games late in the season. So Browns wilt in the heat and Mayfield tears them up.
speaker-0 (1:06:31)
Saints Ravens in Baltimore, the home opener for the Baltimore Ravens. we'll I think we can spend a little bit more time on this if we or we don't have the time. so who's winning this?
speaker-3 (1:06:42)
Ravens.
Yeah, I'm looking on ESPN at seven and a half. I thought it was gonna be a really big number. I was anticipating like twelve and a half and I was like, seven and a half I still like the Ravens. I don't think it's gonna be I I think they're gonna have to there's probably gonna be like some defensive follies from the Ravens in this game. They're probably gonna have a few moments when they shoot themselves in the foot, but they'll probably do just enough to cover the spread in this game.
speaker-0 (1:07:09)
Tyler Shuck threw for 410 yards last week. 400.
speaker-3 (1:07:14)
Could
do the same against the Ravens. It's not out of the question. And that's why it's I'm tentatively laying it, but again, I was I didn't realize it was seven and a I was thinking it was gonna be like eleven or twelve and I would have definitely had second thoughts. Seven and a half, I could be comfortable saying the Ravens will win this game by eight or nine points.
speaker-0 (1:07:31)
Take the over. Over unders forty six and a half. Take the over. Ravens
speaker-3 (1:07:35)
Like that one.
speaker-0 (1:07:36)
win by four. And the Saints Tyler Shuck throws an interception at the end of the game on the game winning drive. That's what I think.
speaker-3 (1:07:46)
The Ravens had that loss to the Raiders at home. Was that two years ago? And they lost to the Chiefs week one. Okay, well they're gonna bounce back. This is a gimme and they lost. So it's possible that there could be a letdown, but I don't think there will be.
speaker-0 (1:08:01)
Tyler Shuck, the MVP. Bengals, Texans, Houston, two and a half point home favorites in this one. Bengals, big test. Big test for the offense.
speaker-1 (1:08:12)
here. Yeah.
speaker-3 (1:08:13)
I weirdly I mean I'm ripping on Houston, but they're always good for some regular season wins that they shouldn't win and I have a weird feeling they're gonna bounce back and win this game and and pressure Burrow. I think that's gonna be the difference. I think they're gonna they're gonna be on Burrow a lot in this game.
speaker-0 (1:08:31)
Give me Cincinnati in this game. I think I think I think the Bengals are going to be more competent. They're not gonna be bad. I think they're gonna be a playoff team, and this is a game you have to win if you're a playoff team. Jags Broncos in Denver, Denver minus seven and a half.
speaker-3 (1:08:50)
like the Jags. That is a massive number. Wow.
speaker-0 (1:08:55)
I'm sorry. Minus two and a half. Minus two and a half.
speaker-3 (1:08:58)
okay. I was gonna say I was like
speaker-0 (1:09:00)
It looked like a seven, I don't I have I don't have my contacts in.
speaker-3 (1:09:03)
I would have been all over that one for Jacksonville. Two and a half. Mm.
I think Denver has to win this because of what their schedule's looking like. I I don't know, man. I I I wanna buy the Jacksonville hype, but you're always so down on them that it makes me think Sean Payton will get this team ready. I I actually think Denver bounces back with a close win.
speaker-0 (1:09:27)
I
think this is a get right. This is a big get right. They're not that bad. The defense is not
speaker-3 (1:09:32)
No, and Lawrence for 23, four touchdown, good. So I think Denver, but it'll be close. They're not blowing them out.
speaker-0 (1:09:41)
No, no, no, absolutely not. a real stinker in the afternoon. Raiders, Chargers, Kirk Cousins and Justin Herbert dueling it out. Chargers minus sixty six
speaker-3 (1:09:55)
I see
speaker-0 (1:09:56)
and a half.
speaker-3 (1:09:57)
I'm looking at you know what? You're right. I've been looking at the open numbers here. Yep, six and a half. I still like Vegas to cover. You know the Chargers. They lose to Arizona. It's not like they're just gonna come out and blow out the Raiders. They're gonna have to earn this one.
speaker-0 (1:10:12)
You know that would be very Chargers of like we can't beat the Ra we can't beat the Cardinals, but we can go out and win by twenty years.
speaker-3 (1:10:20)
But the Chargers like
they like to blow leads and Kirk Cousins likes to have dramatic comeback wins. So that's true. That is true. Nothing else. Chargers could go up like thirty one to thirteen and then Cousins gets it to within like a two point conversion of winning the of tying the game or something.
speaker-0 (1:10:39)
all right, Commanders Cowboys in Dallas. Dallas four and a half point favorite.
speaker-1 (1:10:45)
Thanks
speaker-3 (1:10:46)
What is with
all these NFC East games within
speaker-0 (1:10:50)
I know.
speaker-3 (1:10:51)
it's it's I would not have it this way on my schedule. I mean both teams lost division games in week one. I feel like this is a Dallas get right game, though. I know both teams need it, but I just have a feeling that Dallas does just enough to cover four and a half. I don't love the pick, but
Give me the cowboys. Begrudgingly,
speaker-0 (1:11:16)
Yeah, this one feels like a coin toss. I I don't really like either one. I guess it's at home. But it like Jaden Daniels has to have a big win. Like it it feel like if you beat the Cowboys, it's a big win for you. I'm gonna go Commanders just to say it. Just to I don't know if they're and two. They feel like the O and two team, but I don't want them to be O and two. so I'm I'm gonna take the Commanders here. Seahawks Cardinals, Seattle.
Minus is that three and a half? Minus three and a half. no Sam Darnold. his butt is hurt. The Patriots hurt his butt. that is the that is the official injury diagnosis, his butt. Still Seattle. But Jacoby Brissett. That just keeps playing in my head, Jacoby Brissett. I see his face. And I'm like, this guy might do it.
speaker-3 (1:12:11)
I'm going Arizona.
speaker-0 (1:12:13)
Arizona two and
speaker-3 (1:12:15)
Why are they only I mean, if there was such a gimme, why are they only three and a half point underdogs? That tells me to lean Cardinals. I mean, I would think even with Locke, seven point favorite.
speaker-0 (1:12:26)
The defense.
speaker-3 (1:12:27)
like Arizona, it could be one of those things they start two and and end up five and twelve. I mean, they had that famously that year where they were four and with Kevin Cobb and ended up five and eleven. I think it was out of two thousand twelve, maybe. And I'm not saying that that's gonna happen with
per set, but yeah, I don't know. Seattle, you know, they had time off. It's weird. Like in baseball, you know, how when teams have time off, they get rusty. In football you'd think, well, Seattle, you know, but this is weird. They played on a Wednesday and they have a week and a half. They got a backup. I don't know, man. I just I I wanna I want to have some fun, pick a few upsets. So I'm gonna take Arizona. I see it's safe 'cause it's three and a half. So even if Seattle burns them on a last minute touchdown
I still get the pick right. So I'm gonna take
speaker-0 (1:13:16)
I
love I love how the schedulers did this one. They knew the Dolphins were bad, so they gave the forty niners because the forty niners are not getting that extra day that the Rams get for the Monday night game. But they're like, you know what, you're gonna play the Dolphins. The Dolphins will be really bad. We're gonna give you the Dolphins after you come back. And I had this point last week. I think the important thing is how the teams come back from Australia.
speaker-3 (1:13:44)
Yeah,
speaker-0 (1:13:45)
The
I don't care how the game in Australia went for the Rams. They got their asses beat because they showed up with you know within like twelve hours of the game. I don't care about that. If they look like the Rams on Monday night, and the Niners look sluggish and they look jet lagged over the next couple weeks, the Rams won that game. I don't care what the score says, the Rams won the game. but the Niners, thirteen and a half point favorites at home against Miami.
No way the dolphins wins.
speaker-3 (1:14:17)
I would say no way they win, but I'm looking at the injury report. Kittle's questionable, use checks questionable, the kicker's questionable, Pinero, you know, it's always like a gamble with the Niners. Like you just never know what star players might be out. And I think if those guys are out, if Kittle and Use
speaker-0 (1:14:35)
It's
like the NBA. It's like going to see an NBA game.
speaker-3 (1:14:39)
Right. yeah, I mean they looked amazing. They're coming all the way back. And I'm tempted to take the points just because that's so I know Miami sucks and San Fran look great. But it's that like trap game thing, you come back from a long trip. I'm tempted to say the Dolphins are gonna lose by thirteen. They're gonna get a touchdown late and sneak in the back door for that cover.
speaker-0 (1:15:04)
I could see like a ten point game here. Just because maybe San Francisco comes back a little sluggish. and the offense I feel like the offense more than anything will look a little sluggish. These
speaker-3 (1:15:15)
And these
speaker-0 (1:15:16)
defense
speaker-3 (1:15:17)
I was gonna say these modern day dirtbag schedule makers putting them on the west coast two weeks in a row to start the year. I've never seen that. Or a West, I mean Las Vegas and the West Coast, but you know, putting them in the Western time zone. So I guess I guess they stayed out there. It's ridiculous. But like the Niners, their bodies will already be adjusted to the West Coast, you know, like the Niners were with going early to Australia.
speaker-0 (1:15:44)
Sunday night football. The Indianapolis Colts in Kansas City. Kansas City six and a half point favorites. I don't know what to make of this. I really don't. The Colts looked so bad. They looked horrible. The Colts historically pretty good against Patrick Mahomes, though. They they've been successful. beat him with Matt Ryan. actually when the Colts beat the Chiefs in the regular season, the Chiefs go to the Super Bowl. That is
speaker-3 (1:16:11)
Hopefully
the Chiefs win this game for that logic. Yeah, I'm gonna take the points. I think the Chiefs win a close one.
speaker-0 (1:16:18)
Yeah, go I'm going Chiefs. your elite tradition. It doesn't really work out for me, but still.
speaker-3 (1:16:25)
You taking six and a half?
speaker-1 (1:16:27)
Ugh.
speaker-0 (1:16:28)
I don't know. They just I lost all confidence in that in that Colts team. I don't believe they can do anything right ever. I'll take Kansas City minus six and a half for this one. And then Giants, Rams, Rams minus seven on Monday night football. A good prove it for both of them. A prove it prove that you are the Super Bowl favourites for the Rams, and prove that you can play competent football.
For the giants.
speaker-3 (1:16:59)
Miles Garrett's out.
speaker-0 (1:17:00)
Yeah, he's gonna be on the IR. He's out at least four weeks. I think Dar or Donald will be playing next week. He will not I don't think he will be playing this week.
speaker-3 (1:17:13)
Defensive players all questionable with and Garrett's out too. Cam Curl, Nate Landman, Omar Spates, and Cameron Kinchins.
speaker-0 (1:17:21)
Those are big too.
speaker-3 (1:17:22)
We just saw the Giants move the ball pretty well on Dallas. I know Dallas defense isn't great, but I'm taking I'm taking those points. Taking the seven.
speaker-0 (1:17:33)
I'm gonna take the Giants. I'm gonna pick them to win the game.
speaker-3 (1:17:35)
Yeah, that's what I yeah.
yeah. I wouldn't be shocked. I don't
speaker-0 (1:17:41)
It it would this would be a very good misdirection by the NFL. The Rams are so heavily favored and they start 0 2. That would just be a great misdirection by the NFL.
speaker-3 (1:17:53)
Love to see LA lose, especially with Rams trying to copycat the Dodgers. By the way, Matt, if you look at Matthew Stafford's ESPN photo, he looks like Dave Bird, Lil Dickie, the rapper for the show. But just hair's growing crazy. A lot of hair in this game from the quarterback, Stafford and Dart. Yeah, I I I think Giants, I mean, they could they'll have a lot of believers if they win this game.
speaker-0 (1:18:19)
Yeah. If you win you win on Sunday night football and Monday night football to start the year, they
speaker-3 (1:18:24)
Cowboys.
speaker-0 (1:18:24)
might ch they might become the Super Bowl favorite just based on the betting lines and how many people bet on them to win the Super Bowl.
speaker-3 (1:18:31)
Well, and the and the line opened at eight and a half at seven. So again, that tells you the better problem is starting to go to to lean with the Giants.
speaker-0 (1:18:39)
Yeah. All right. Well, that's gonna be a that'll be a good place to move on to the next segment. The Maryland spotlight, but Colts, Ravens, Ravens just beat up on the Indianapolis Colts forty one twenty-three. I'll I'll get my piece out. Just embarrassing, utterly, disgustingly embarrassing for this team to trot out there.
I mean seeing the seeing the social media posts about how excited this team this team didn't look excited to play football. They started they started the game great. Great, great script to open the game. and then you miss the extra point and immediately it's fuck. We're not winning this game. We're just not winning this game. They're meant to it everything I mean listen I I give it to Daniel Jones. He's coming off of Torn Achilles. The guy is coming off of Torn Achilles.
He is not going to be perfect. He hasn't played football since December. I get it. I completely get it. That's where you lean on the run game. And I think Shane Steichen, like, maybe he just out he w overthought the the game plan. I I haven't pulled up I don't know Taylor's rushing stats off the top of my head. Okay, nineteen carries for Taylor. 98 yards.
Again, in a game where Daniel Jones is coming back from an Achilles tear, especially early in the game, I I want to see Jonathan Taylor almost every single play. I want to see stuff that will get Daniel Jones' confidence up. lean on Alec Pierce, lean on Josh Downs. Actually lean on Josh Downs and Tyler Warren more than anything. Downs had four targets. Warren had five targets. Just
really just uninspiring in the defense. apparently the they're blaming the defensive woes on Sharvarius Ward, I believe he was the play caller, not being able to get the plays out because he was he was too far away from most of the defense was was the explanation. So I just found this out. Akeem Davis Gaither will be taking over play calling duties for the Indianapolis Colts.
so pretty cool here. he had I don't have the snap count, but Akeem Davis Gaither did lead the team in total tackles with eight. he had five solos. so chaotically intolerant alumni really showing out for us. That's pretty cool. one strip one one strip sack of Lamar when it really like kinda didn't matter and it really made me just disgusted to see them even celebrating the fumble. I was like, come on guys
Let's let's see, when when was the fumble? yeah, we were down twenty-eight six at the point of the fumble in the first half. So really just frustrating. yeah, Taylor up the middle, immediate interception, next drive, Jones sack, Jones pass, short right, and then third and sixteen, Taylor to the right tackle. This is all in the first half, by the way. Taylor, right guard.
Taylor for ten, Taylor for negative three, and then pass, pass, punt.
the fumble was Daniel Jones passed to Taylor and Marlon Humphrey, by the way. The ripout on Jonathan Taylor, amazing. Like I I sa I was screaming at the TV, like, look at this fumble, look at this forced fumble. Marlon Humphrey, just one of the great like just strips that I've seen, just refused to give up the ball, outmanned Jonathan Taylor. really just cool play to watch if you love watching not stripping.
If you love watching strips of NFL players. and then once Indianapolis went down twenty eight to six, pass, pass, pass, and then a four play touchdown drive after the fumble. and then just immediate pass, I mean nine yard pass, incompletion. Taylor goes for nothing, with one minute and six left in the second on our own twenty seven. So
Again, just like uninspiring, really uninspiring from this Colts team and just disappointing. Utter disappointment. Derek Henry also is just never gonna be bad. he's going to he's gonna rush for a thousand yards at age thirty eight. I think he is one of the greatest he he's in the conversation for greatest running backs of all time. Right?
speaker-3 (1:23:20)
You know, I it's every year that he keeps playing at such a high level, you you I'm not hating that take. you know? So his numbers get bet his yards per carry it's historically they get better as the year goes on.
speaker-0 (1:23:40)
Both as the game goes and as the year goes. Like,
speaker-3 (1:23:44)
Well yeah.
speaker-0 (1:23:45)
you know, you wear the defense down, but also as the year goes on, he also just gets so much better. It's insane. It's crazy. And if he continues on this streak, I think he'll he'll reach number two. 'Cause I think he needs twenty touchdowns right now to get to number two on the total touchdown list or rushing touchdown list. to pass Ladanian Tomlinson at two forty five, I believe. He can get there this year.
I think he can get there this year very easily.
speaker-3 (1:24:11)
Yeah. I I I'm I'm also kind of shocked. I mean, this is the first time the Ravens have won their opener in in three years. They lost to Buffalo in a crazy game forty one forty last year. They had the Isaiah Likely tow game on Thursday night the year before. So even though they've had a couple of big blowouts in week one in their in their history, if you in the Lamar era they had the fifty nine to ten win against Miami in twenty nineteen. Yeah. Of course, Miami that year started and
Whatever, eight or something. But yeah, I I get like it's weird because you never as a fan want to say, Well, I don't want to see my team put up 41 points and win big. But it's still the same thing where I won't really feel comfortable saying, this Ravens team is different, even if they put you know, even if they beat the Colts fifty to ten. I need to see close wins. I need to see gritty football, comeback wins too. Then again,
This is not to nitpick or I'm trying to find something to complain about. Like if the Ravens could do that, right. And if if they could do it, genuinely could do it through February, great. Who's gonna complain about that? But we all know that that's not how football works, you know, now these days with seventeen games and then playoff games. You're gonna have down weeks. You're gonna have weeks where you have to win when you're not at your best. you're gonna have weeks where you're gonna have key players out. You hope it's not
Lamar or Henry, but now Zay Flowers is dealing with a hamstring injury, right? I mean he he went off early in the game. and it doesn't sound like he's gonna play. He's not practicing. It's early in the year. There's really
speaker-0 (1:25:51)
Jacoby Lane is I think they said six weeks.
speaker-3 (1:25:54)
Wow. Yeah. So already, you know, you're you're dealing with a couple of injuries at the receiver position and all of a sudden it's like, well then who's gonna step up? They got, you know, one big play from Chris Moore, Andrews was four for forty nine, but if Flowers is out and it comes back to, you know, the Ravens in their history have not had a lot of big time wide receivers. They've had great great defense, obviously. They have a great quarterback in Lamar, great running back,
you know, history with T Jamal Lewis and Priest Holmes and Ray Rice and now Derrick Henry. Wide receivers have never had, I mean, Bolden and Steve Smith were there late in their career, but so who's gonna be the guy? obviously it was great to see Flowers do what he did when he was out there. He had a monster game.
speaker-0 (1:26:44)
Yeah.
speaker-3 (1:26:44)
But but yeah it it was it's hard to tell. I'll just say that. It's it's inconclusive.
It it tells me that the talent is there, that that hasn't changed. The star the star power is not an issue. It's where's what about the rest of the guys? Right. Did Marlon Humphrey stay healthy? You know, what are they gonna get this year from Trey Hendrickson? Didn't hear from him. He had one tackle, right? so it's there's a lot to there's there's a lot to be desired still.
speaker-0 (1:27:18)
Yeah. Jacoby Lane officially on IR he had wrist surgery for a fractured wrist. so the other wide receivers on the Ravens roster, Devantez Walker, LaJounte Wester, Elijah Surratt, and Chris Moore. How many catches do you think they have combined over the last three seasons?
Twenty-one. Twenty-one catches over the last three seasons between all four of those receivers. not good. Not good, but I think this is where championship teams find a way. You know, you you find ways to win games early because they do matter for later, right? Like I th a lot of times teams will look back on week one and they're like, we just weren't ready and we lost and we missed the playoffs by a game. Maybe if we win that game, we make the playoffs. So you got.
Just find a way to win and find a way to do it with whoever the hell you got there. great teams are able to do that. So
One more thing. Declan Doyle, Lamar under center the most in his career in this game. Declan Doyle just absolutely just flexing, like show flexing every muscle that he had, showing off. I I if I were a Ravens fan, I would have loved it. 'Cause just getting to see like a completely brand new offense go off in your opening game, th you feel like Superman right now if you're if you're a Ravens fan.
Besides Chicago, I think they looked to me, they looked the best out of and besides the penalties, a lot of penalties in this one.
speaker-3 (1:28:55)
Yeah, it's just so much to clean up in week one.
speaker-0 (1:29:01)
ten penalties for eighty six yards.
speaker-3 (1:29:03)
Yards. Yep. Yep. So Harbaugh may have left, but yeah. But hey look, again, if you can if you can put up forty one points on a day when you have ten penalties for eighty six yards, I guess you try to take find the silver lining there.
speaker-0 (1:29:33)
Back to Excuse Our Opinion, the show that was created pre-2016, definitely not inspired by PTI, where we give our unabashed opinions. Let's go, Caleb. What is your opinion that we should excuse?
speaker-2 (1:29:51)
I don't think this is gonna get excused by a whole lot of people, to be honest. I will make the claim that Derek Jeter is the most overrated baseball player of all time. I'll just give a little reaction. I'll let I'll I'll let the reaction play out. I heard a door close, so I'm glad the ball knowers are here now.
And you know what? I'm not saying that Derek Jeter is a bad player. He is a Hall of Famer. I will stand by that. Hall of Famer
speaker-0 (1:30:21)
Two
baseball cards. What do two baseball cards tell us, John?
speaker-2 (1:30:26)
Both there, cheater.
speaker-0 (1:30:27)
That doesn't tell us that that doesn't argue the point at all.
speaker-2 (1:30:30)
Does it include his defensive run saved? He was incredible. Defensive run saved is a cumulative metric, and he played for a long time at the position that is weighed the most heavily by DRS. So shut so negative negative one hundred and sixty two DRS, you say is Where is he in all time where is he in airs? Where is he in feeling percentage?
If that's what you think fielding is, then I mean No, he had he didn't have great range and DRS he didn't is a steep. You can't make errors on balls that you can't get to because you don't have the range. He was he made the cheater throw popular because they were balls two steps to his right that he couldn't get to in an athletic way. He was not a goblin fucking stands and that was one of the greatest catches of all time. when he caught the ball in fair fair territory and ran
Ten steps and then ran into the stands? You're just a butt, shitty Red Sox fan. Derek Teter fucking. Darren Peter did not affect me as a Red Sox fan. Derek Teter never met me as a Red Sox fan. He was incredible. All of his titles were before I was born, besides two. Who are the three best who are the three best offensive shortstops of all time? Ernie Banks, Alex Rodriguez, Honis Wagner. Wrong.
speaker-0 (1:31:44)
What
speaker-2 (1:31:45)
What what
do they what what does their jeter lead them in?
speaker-0 (1:31:49)
He wasn't. He was a
speaker-2 (1:31:50)
Yeah, you can't just say
speaker-0 (1:31:52)
He was better and and that just makes it
speaker-2 (1:31:55)
So how is he the most overrated player every He's still a Hall of Famer. He's
speaker-0 (1:31:58)
I think he's a Hall of Famer.
speaker-2 (1:32:00)
absolutely a Hall of Famer. He's one of the best postseason hitters of all time. And I'm not going to deny that. But he was completely overrated. People have him as a top three, top five shortstop of all time. He's not. He couldn't play defense. Honest Wagner sure isn't. That's insane. I mean, you talked about Bill Russell.
Earlier today in his era. I was rage. So was I was rage baiting you. Rage baiting. Who has more hits? So then I'm I'm writing a completely different conversation, but we're gonna we're we're not gonna deal with that right now. Derek Cheater, great player, Hall of Famer. Not a top five shortstop of all time. I'm sorry. You can't play defense. You have no range. You have you barely have an arm.
It gold gloves were just giving out like popularity contests in the late nineties, early two thousands.
You you've witnessed yourself Salvador Perez win five gold gloves. So you of all people should know that he deserved is a popularity contest. Yeah Jeter maybe deserved one of his. I've never cheater's he was Derek Jeter was a contact hitter that made his career out of hitting the ball the other way. He was a great fundamental baseball player. He was never an over the an above average defender. He was never a power hitter.
He was a clutch postseason hitter that was a great contact here in the regular season. I mean, he averaged twenty-six home runs a year for per year for what? Or thir sorry, thirteen home runs a year for twenty years. Thirteen home runs a year, two hundred and sixty regular season home runs. And you think that's a top top five shortstop of all time? No, he but you're you're acting like he's all he did was slap the ball around. He hit he could hit extra base hits, he could hit home runs. He was
Perfect for what he didn't need to be a power hitter. He needed to get on base and lineup push tech. He hit 40 doubles once in his entire career. He had 20 homers three times. He hit over 100 RBIs one time. He was a singles hitter. That's what he was. And he was great at doing it. He's a Hall of Famer, but he is completely overrated in almost every other sense.
Also did it in like the mecca of professional sports for 20 years, won five World Series. And that's why he is seen as a top five shortstop because he played in New York. If he played in Seattle, if he played in Kansas City, if he played in Houston, God knows what wherever else he could play. If he played, he would be seen in the same light. No, if he played Kansas City in the same light as Al Kaline, as Alan Trammell, as those contact guys in that era. That's what he was.
He would have Alex, can you get off your phone, please, and respect Caleb's take or
speaker-0 (1:34:54)
I'm listening.
speaker-2 (1:34:55)
his opinion? Yeah. Yeah, fuck you, Always letting you guys fuck up.
speaker-0 (1:34:58)
Same thing. Shut the fuck.
speaker-2 (1:34:59)
I don't we don't want to do our thing. We want you to pay attention to us do our things. We're the children who want to watch I want daddy to watch.
speaker-0 (1:35:05)
Doing my of my take.
speaker-2 (1:35:07)
Okay. No, your take's going last. because you don't know the decorum of this show Caleb Caleb
speaker-0 (1:35:14)
This is not my
speaker-2 (1:35:17)
created.
This is our segment. We're the ones wearing the glasses. how about no more fucking professional sports teams in Las Vegas? That's my take. Because now instead of St. Louis or Kansas City or Cincinnati or Nashville or I don't know, Tampa Bay getting an NBA team, we're giving another franchise to Las Vegas. How many of what was the first one? Was the first one the Knights, the Golden Knights? like six years.
speaker-0 (1:35:45)
Well,
Las V I think the how how deep do we want to go here?
speaker-2 (1:35:52)
Them and the Raiders kinda moved at the same time, didn't they?
speaker-0 (1:35:54)
I assume
the the big four. Are we talking the big four sports?
speaker-2 (1:35:57)
How many other
cities have gotten How many other
speaker-0 (1:36:01)
No, I
was I was talking about the W of the A.
speaker-2 (1:36:04)
Nobody gives a fuck about the WNBA either.
I mean some people do. 'cause those
speaker-0 (1:36:09)
Wait.
speaker-2 (1:36:10)
Royce Lewis and Nes Cantor really want to play in it. 'cause they weren't good enough to play in the real NBA. So how many other cities just get four professional sports teams in a decade? It's insane. Meanwhile, Pittsburgh deserves a an NBA team. St. Louis historically has been part of like basketball lore. Kansas City's had a stadium built
For 20 years, remodeled multiple times, waiting for an NBA team. And instead, we're gonna give another one to Vegas, which is bullshit. We're we already have the Raiders in the process of trying to sorry, the athletics in the process of trying to get there. So we're just gonna give them another one while we're still waiting for one team to move out there. They just got the Raiders. Let them prove for at least a decade that they can support a major sports franchise that isn't the NHL.
Prove it before you get another fucking team. That's my opinion.
speaker-0 (1:37:11)
I'll take it little further. I'm sick of West Coast. I'm sick of the West Coast in general. Just get rid of them. Just get rid of the West Coast. I don't want to see any more sports teams on the why does LA have two football teams? They have two baseball teams, even though one of them's in Anaheim. Most likely gonna be leaving with the sale of the team. Two basketball teams. It's enough. It's actually, is it it's technically three. Golden State.
speaker-2 (1:37:39)
But you I mean they're
speaker-0 (1:37:40)
Sacramento.
speaker-2 (1:37:41)
San Fran they're San Francisco. New York has two of these.
speaker-0 (1:37:44)
that's California. Still
California.
California. How many sports teams does California have?
speaker-2 (1:37:50)
Let's play the name game, okay.
speaker-0 (1:37:52)
Way too many.
speaker-2 (1:37:53)
Let's go. So the Padres, the J the Giants, the Dodgers, the Angels. Am I missing any in any MLB?
speaker-0 (1:38:02)
Sacramento.
speaker-2 (1:38:03)
I said the Padres. the San Jose Sharks. The Kings. The Kings. Are we missing any hockey?
The chargers, the rams, the
The Raiders aren't there anymore. Niners. Are we missing the Niners? Now basketball.
speaker-0 (1:38:19)
Niners.
speaker-2 (1:38:21)
The Clippers, the Lakers. Kings. The Kings, the Warriors. Is that fourteen? Are we missing any? I think that's it. For for fourteen and one state. Holy shit.
speaker-0 (1:38:34)
Fourteen of the big four. It's not even we're not even throwing in the WMBA and and whatever, all the other bullshit
speaker-2 (1:38:42)
Yeah.
speaker-0 (1:38:42)
that make no money. Whatever. It's it's way too much for us I mean, how much what percentage of the country lives on the East Coast? A mat like a larger percentage than
speaker-2 (1:38:53)
Granted,
California does have a lot of a lot of people and it's a large place. Doesn't matter.
speaker-0 (1:39:00)
They're
three hours behind the rest of the real world. no. Get get rid of them all. I want the St. Louis I'm fine. I'm actually fine with the Chargers being out there because it they feel perfectly LA. Like obviously they did have fans in San Diego, but they just feel LA. They didn't Rams needed to go back to San Diego.
speaker-2 (1:39:16)
They didn't
move from like one coast to another or one city to another.
speaker-0 (1:39:19)
Like the Rams went from St. Louis, from the Midwest to LA.
speaker-2 (1:39:26)
We
missed the Anaheim Ducks. We forgot the Anaheim Ducks, by the way. So it's fifteen.
speaker-0 (1:39:30)
They don't need to exist. Just move somewhere else that would that would care about more.
speaker-2 (1:39:35)
Yeah, god damn it. I'm sick of watching baseball games that start at ten fifteen on the west coast.
speaker-0 (1:39:41)
I don't need a ten fifteen ten fifteen baseball games are ridiculous.
speaker-2 (1:39:45)
Good take. Thank you.
speaker-0 (1:39:47)
Just sick of L A I I agree, sick of LA in general. I'm
I'm sick of L. Your opinion. well, I kinda use my take on the open topic. But the AI commercials. I can't, I can't, I can't do it. AI commercials are the biggest I I'm getting AI commercials for an app to gamble. A gambling app on your phone. I don't
speaker-2 (1:40:11)
AI
generated ad an AI generated ad trying to get you to gamble using an AI gambling assistant to place your bets through AI.
speaker-0 (1:40:22)
Yeah. Through crypto. I think it should all be illegal. I think AI ads should be illegal. When I see when I walk into a restaurant and I see an AI menu, I walk right out. I know that food is gonna be horrible. And I hear that, they're they're small business owners, they don't have time. So you're telling me the the thing that is front facing for your business, you don't wanna put time into that. You don't wanna put like I don't know, a day worth
speaker-2 (1:40:48)
On Canva.
speaker-0 (1:40:50)
On Canva. It's not even that fucking hard. It's not hard at all. People act like you need a master's degree to be able to make a a menu in graphic design. You don't need that at all. You just need maybe eight like what like eight hours and that's being that's like overshooting it completely. Just learn a new skill. You don't need AI to do everything for you. So I'm just AI, I'm just sick of it. I think it does I do believe that AI has its uses in the world.
at points, but it it just can't do everything for you. But you can't have it do every single thing for all the time.
speaker-2 (1:41:28)
Using AI for ads is just lazy.
speaker-0 (1:41:30)
AI for ads. That is the front facing aspect of your business. You are saying I am too lazy to create something to promote my business. So, like what type of work are you putting into your act?
speaker-2 (1:41:45)
You're taking jobs away from graphic designers, video editors, just to type in a prompt and have some shitty and it doesn't even look
speaker-0 (1:41:54)
Right.
speaker-2 (1:41:54)
done. It looks like shit.
speaker-0 (1:41:57)
It
looks like absolute garbage.
speaker-2 (1:42:00)
I've thought in my life, I've thought about this. I can only think of like one use of AI that would actually make the world a better place. And that is like if a doctor was trying to crack a hard case and he said to AI, pull up every single case study on this condition. Now narrow it down to men between the age of thirty and thirty six with these conditions and give me that so I can research it quickly. That's like the o one of the only things I've ever thought of.
That would actually be in good use. You should use it. If you're going in for a heart surgery and you find out your doctor's using AI to to help I'm talking about like rare conditions.
speaker-0 (1:42:41)
AI
should help you. I think AI is okay in helping in helping like support your knowledge where maybe you don't have it anymore. And you can be like, okay, I don't know what this is. Can you tell me where like I could find this?
speaker-2 (1:42:55)
Or maybe you're then read it yourself. Like information.
speaker-0 (1:42:58)
Yeah, and then read it yourself.
speaker-2 (1:43:02)
No, it's more like John Raff Like John with traffic information. What do you think I AI'd? Which of my picks were AI'd? Pete
speaker-0 (1:43:10)
Sampras.
speaker-2 (1:43:11)
Sampras? No, Pete Sampras was I found I went on famous birthdays and found everybody but Maryland that I narrowed down.
speaker-0 (1:43:18)
That's
an AI. That is so AI. That
speaker-2 (1:43:21)
No, I had them on my list.
speaker-0 (1:43:22)
is the most AI well I I do know that website existed prior to AI. I guarantee you they use AI now.
speaker-2 (1:43:29)
Everything
is AI now though. They have like Woe Vicky as as one of their top ten celebrities. Of course it's AI. Dude, yeah. But no, I know who she is. I've heard of her. Whatever her fucking.
speaker-0 (1:43:41)
What a ti what a time to be alive when she
speaker-2 (1:43:44)
Was that was that Instagram's youngest Flexer, Woe Vicky? No, Lil Tay. No. Easily. that was Lil' Tay. Okay. I don't know who either of them are then. Yeah, you you mix up your thirteen year old scumbags. Can I do our rap?
speaker-0 (1:43:53)
DJ Khaled's kid. DJ Khalid was he
had his like his one his one year old flexing like fifty thousand dollar watches.
speaker-2 (1:44:04)
I have Alex fle Alex Flex is on him sometime.
speaker-0 (1:44:06)
On social media.
speaker-2 (1:44:07)
He has
a he has a no, he has a mu teenage mutant ninja turtles.
speaker-0 (1:44:11)
What no DJ DJ Khaled's kid was like actually flexing on social he had his own C he has his own social media account. He's had it since he like one year old.
speaker-2 (1:44:18)
That's parenting.
That's very poor parenting.
speaker-0 (1:44:21)
I don't know what.
speaker-2 (1:44:22)

speaker-0 (1:44:42)
Are you going hog out or are you going are you going hog like off?
speaker-2 (1:44:46)
No, he straight feet picks. Straight feet picks.
Ew. Aren't lamb's like that's very childish.
speaker-0 (1:44:54)
to the next segment. Greatest postseason performance, snake draft. I won last week's Baltimore Ravens snake draft. Caleb came in second. Finally breaking his streak. his his army did not get sent out last to rig the vote. No, you got zero vote.
speaker-2 (1:45:15)
See, I don't vote for myself 'cause I'm not a even though
speaker-0 (1:45:16)
You got zero votes. No.
speaker-2 (1:45:18)
I have the best team.
speaker-0 (1:45:19)
Cause you suck. And John finished third, so he will get to pick where he drafts. John, where are you drafting? Number one. Numero uno. Caleb number two. I'll take number three. Okay. Awesome. John?
speaker-2 (1:45:36)
This is a tough one. But I think I'm gonna have to go with a guy who had two game winning hits in a single ALCS, Games 4 and Games 5.
speaker-0 (1:45:51)
Fuck at you.
speaker-2 (1:45:52)
Fuck you! Fuck you! Don't do anybody. I'd rather have here 2004 David Ortiz.
Who was I mean, I don't know if he was on anybody else's board. He
speaker-0 (1:46:09)
but yeah.
speaker-2 (1:46:10)
didn't even take his best series. I think that w no, I think that was his his best year. It was two thousand and four. no, I think it was. I think it was. It wasn't it was
speaker-0 (1:46:21)
I think his most impactful it was not. O four was not his most impactful.
speaker-2 (1:46:26)
I know, but I think it's it's it's more memorable. Multiple games in a row with a game winning hit. it w it was a great s great series for And overall a great postseason. More memorable so yeah.
speaker-0 (1:46:39)
Caleb.
speaker-2 (1:46:39)
the the reaction. Well that completely fucked my draft up. So I'm that your number one pick? That was my number one. What year were we gonna take? Twenty thirteen World Series David Ortiz. He had six eighty eight.
speaker-0 (1:46:53)
What you're taking?
speaker-2 (1:46:54)
That no you can't take David Ortiz. You can't take the same player.
speaker-0 (1:46:59)
It's a different year.
speaker-2 (1:47:00)
Doesn't matter. It's the same player. It's it's the same player. I I can't in good faith do it. actually I meant to say twenty thirteen. I'm sorry. it looked like four. I to say you nope, hand was off the piece. You took O four.
speaker-0 (1:47:13)
I I th we're drafting the player and the year. I think you can take the year.
speaker-2 (1:47:17)
No, you can't. That's no one agree with
what he's talking about. No one I don't think you can take the same player. You don't all so Caleb, let's agree. You take Derek Jeter's best year, I'll take G Derek your second best year, then you take his third best year, I'll take his fourth best year. You can have Jeter in the fifth round.
speaker-0 (1:47:31)
You can take Jeter I you can take every single year of Jeter. I don't care.
speaker-2 (1:47:36)
All right, well, I guess I'll have to pivot. John hurt me, so I'm gonna hurt him. I'm going to take twenty fourteen Madison Baumgarner.
twenty-one total innings in that World Series. Let me specify the twenty fourteen World Series where they decimated the Royals in seven games. In seven games. They d destroyed them in seven games. Madison Bumgarner decimated us. We were the better team. Madison Bumgarner won the World Series. It was Madison Bumgarner. That's why I'm taking him my second overall.
speaker-0 (1:48:13)
You couldn't
beat one guy.
speaker-2 (1:48:14)
Great pick. No, he was that good.
speaker-0 (1:48:17)
How many innings did he pitch in that World Series?
speaker-2 (1:48:19)
Twenty one to an point four three yard run in twenty one innings.
speaker-0 (1:48:22)
In seven games in seven games In
seven games he pi he only was in twenty one innings out of those seven games and you couldn't win the World Series. No, I'm just saying I'm saying if if the Royals were so much better if they were so much better than the rest of the Giants, then why couldn't you just take four of the games?
speaker-2 (1:48:44)
No, I think he started did he not start three and close one? He did. Yeah. He has two stars. Does he miss one game?
speaker-0 (1:48:52)
If you were so much better there were other innings in those games you could have won.
speaker-2 (1:48:55)
Three
and one against him in games he didn't play play. Games he didn't pitch at all. We went three and one.
speaker-0 (1:49:02)
I didn't
Why weren't you
winning in the night? Why didn't why didn't why weren't you coming in the knife, you fucking
speaker-2 (1:49:10)
He came in like the seventh.
speaker-0 (1:49:12)
Okay, why weren't you up in the c
speaker-2 (1:49:13)
Sixth
we were down by one run.
speaker-0 (1:49:16)
Why were you losing?
speaker-2 (1:49:17)
Because it was bad fortune.
speaker-0 (1:49:21)
Why are you losing? You shouldn't have been losing.
speaker-2 (1:49:24)
Why did the Red Sox win a World Series for a hundred years if that's
speaker-0 (1:49:27)
They
were so good. Well, we've won four in the last twenty, so
speaker-2 (1:49:30)
Yeah, we weren't alive for that whole hulker fovel.
speaker-0 (1:49:33)
I was born in two thousand and two and then two years later they won the
speaker-2 (1:49:37)
Let's just
focus me and you, buddy. It's me and you. It's the best best postseason performance of all time by a pitcher. It's not even close. Twenty one innings, point four three RA. But it's not, but it's it's the greatest mod no in the in the modern era. I'll say in the modern era. Top two in the modern era. It's better than Yamamoto. I I know that. But it's Yamamoto was pretty fucking good. Well Yamamoto was pretty fucking good. Strasbourg was wa is on my list, but I'm not gonna take him. I'm not either.
Just you yeah, watch your mouth. Alex, take your picks. They're gonna suck.
speaker-0 (1:50:11)
I'm gonna take
I mean, I'm just drafting with my heart. eleven David Freeze. World Series MVP, NLCS MVP, stats up here. three ninety seven, twelve hundred OPS, five homers, and we all remember game six. And he got the I think he got him started in game seven. Am I correct? had a he had a double in the inning. Yeah.
speaker-2 (1:50:33)
Did he not turn down the
Cardinals Hall of Fame? Which was
speaker-0 (1:50:44)
Yeah, he was like he was like I actually wasn't that good. I just had a really good month.
speaker-1 (1:50:49)
Yeah
speaker-2 (1:50:50)
He deserves it. I I voted for him in the hall of pretty good.
speaker-0 (1:50:55)
Clay Bucklets, by the way, in the hall pretty good.
speaker-2 (1:50:58)
Just intercircle.
speaker-0 (1:50:59)
Yeah, yeah. Ninety ninety was he ninety
speaker-2 (1:51:01)
Pretty
good. It's a sham. Billy Butler's in it. It's a sham.
You're just the hater. I am a hater. Country breakfast was
speaker-0 (1:51:14)
You don't acknowledge democracy? You don't acknowledge voting in democracy?
speaker-2 (1:51:19)
depends. I gotta g maybe they
speaker-0 (1:51:20)
Because they vote It's a vote.
speaker-2 (1:51:24)
But things like that shouldn't be voted on by the general public.
speaker-0 (1:51:27)
When
you don't like them it doesn't democracy doesn't
speaker-2 (1:51:30)
No, it's
democracy sucks if it doesn't go my way. You got a bunch of morons voting because that one funny fat guy got put up. That would be like that'd be like if we put like John made John Candy the president. Because he's so funny and he's chubby. Yeah, that's how that's how w democracy works. Who what's your second pick?
speaker-0 (1:51:51)
I don't know if I wanna go with an old guy.
speaker-2 (1:51:53)
You should.
speaker-0 (1:51:54)
Or a young guy.
speaker-1 (1:51:56)
Mmm.
speaker-0 (1:51:57)
'Cause I'm look I'm looking at a picture from the early two thousands.
I'm gonna go with seventy eight Reggie Jackson.
speaker-2 (1:52:04)
Smart. Mr. October.
speaker-0 (1:52:07)
Four homers, fourteen ribies. he was actually better than he was in seventy seven. Seventy seven he had the three homer game.
speaker-2 (1:52:15)
But seven or seven. I thought it was seven well, I thought it was three home runs and three picks.
speaker-0 (1:52:19)
There was
three home either way.
speaker-2 (1:52:20)
Three home runs and three pick.
speaker-0 (1:52:22)
No matter what, statistically he was better in seventy eight than in seventy seven. Four seventeen, five eleven, eight six, what he was slashing in that series. So and it's Mr. October. You can't not have Mr October on on the draft board. so yeah, seventy eight Reggie.
speaker-2 (1:52:41)
All right, well I got the steal of the draft. Thank you guys for that. I will be taking nineteen sixty-five World Series MVP Sandy Koufax.
speaker-0 (1:52:52)
Yom Kipporrier.
speaker-2 (1:52:54)
I said Mad Bomb had the best performance of the modern era. It is. the innings. The innings it's two back to back complete game shutouts games.
speaker-0 (1:53:04)
No, I'm just saying that's it's the one thing that you could maybe get on.
speaker-2 (1:53:08)
It is a point three eight ERA with a three hit ten strike seven.
speaker-0 (1:53:12)
I'm not I'm not saying it's a bad that's
it's a very good it's it is. It's great.
speaker-2 (1:53:17)
I said Matt Bum was the best postseason pitcher of the modern era. I took the best postseason pitcher ever in Sandy Koufax. I there's multiple World Series you can take him in, but I will be going nineteen sixty five. Sixty five Sandy Koufax.
speaker-0 (1:53:34)
And he missed game one for Jan Kapoor.
speaker-2 (1:53:37)
Well, he wasn't starting in game one, so Don Drysdale handled business. Yeah, just mm light work. Slider slider pitcher. I'll start off with sixty eight Bob Gibson, probably the greatest single game postseason performance of all time. seventeen strikeouts in a complete game shutout, had a one six seven ERA over twenty seven innings. and of course that's coming on the back of the greatest.
Single season pitching performance of all
speaker-0 (1:54:06)
What what year was that again?
speaker-2 (1:54:08)
sixty eight.
speaker-0 (1:54:09)
Sixty eight.
speaker-2 (1:54:11)
I believe so, yeah. Unless I'm fucking wrong.
speaker-0 (1:54:14)
I'm looking at sixty seven right now. He's three complete games MV.
speaker-2 (1:54:18)
No, they won. No, no, no. I'm looking at
I'm talking about the one they lost. You want the sixty eight. They lost in sixty eight, yes. That was the year he had his seventeen strikeout. Yes, I want the I want sixty-eight. Sixty eight was a a better performance by him. They just didn't happen to win the World Series that year. If we're talking about performances, it was a better performance.
He set the single game postseason record for strikeouts in a game.
That was on my board. Yeah, do you need it do you do you want to fact check my next one too? Or do we just do trust do you trust me? No.
speaker-0 (1:55:00)
He was in the World Series back to back years.
speaker-2 (1:55:02)
I know
you took T Sampras. We're we're fact checking everything. Yeah. Okay. S nineteen pull this up, please. In nineteen seventy nine, did the Pittsburgh Pirates compete in the in the series, the the baseball world series? They did? They beat the L'Orient in seven. Okay. And in game seven, Willie Starger went four for five and won the World Series MVP? Off Steve McGregor, yeah. I know, Caleb, I want Alex to check it for me. Can you check it, Alex, please? Just check his stat.
speaker-0 (1:55:30)
I know because I had this guy on my list.
speaker-2 (1:55:33)
And check Steve McGregor pitching game seven so I can feel good about myself.
speaker-0 (1:55:37)
Well, again, you're not very trustworthy.
speaker-1 (1:55:40)
do I?
speaker-2 (1:55:40)
I would like to
confirm Steve McGregor started game seven in that volteers.
speaker-1 (1:55:44)
you
speaker-2 (1:55:45)
My dad will be absolutely dude. Your dad might tell you he's proud of you, dude, for the first time ever. Do you think he'll hug you? I would really hope so. That'd be really good. Can you send me a picture when he hugs you?
speaker-0 (1:55:58)
It's
correct. I'm not sending you a fucking picture.
speaker-2 (1:56:02)
No, I want Caleb to send me a picture when his dad was in one. Alex, who started game seven for that for the Orioles that series?
speaker-0 (1:56:08)
Who started game seven? I gotta go Scott McGregor.
speaker-2 (1:56:12)
Steve McGregor, not Steve. McGregor.
you got the name wrong. you idiot. Your dad's gonna fucking disown you. Someone text Caleb's dad. I will text him after this and tell him. He's gonna be like I fucking hate you, son. Do you have any siblings? little brother does not care about baseball.
Well I know, but thank God your dad had another kid. That would be really bad if you said the wrong name and he you were his only son. My brother doesn't know ball though. Yeah, probably better he probably knows the the right first name, Scott. My brother only knows Johnny Damon and Hunter Pence.
I don't know. Those are the two names. Yeah.
speaker-0 (1:56:59)
Johnny
Damon and Hunter Pence.
speaker-2 (1:57:01)
If you
ask my brother to name two MLB players, those are the two he will say.
speaker-0 (1:57:06)
Th I think those are like the most random yeah names you could possibly come up with. Well actually not. They do have kinda have the same
speaker-2 (1:57:13)
For the D UI.
speaker-0 (1:57:15)
they do kind of have the same energy.
speaker-2 (1:57:17)
They kinda do. I don't think Hunter Pence had a DUI, did he? No, but Johnny Damon had a very famous DUI. He was like four times the legal limit, blackout drunk. Just Wolf of Wall Street driving his way home. Guys, I think my brother was ten years old when that happened, so he does not Right, Caleb, can you stop stalling? I didn't know where you're stalling. I was ready for my next pick. I've gotten pulled up. Take your steal. Okay, I
I will take two thousand and seven ALCS MVP. No, not MVP. Should have been MVP. 2007 ALCS Mini Ramirez. led the three to one deficit comeback with a four nine average, twelve ninety OPS, ten RBIs, two homers. almost single-handedly brought the Red Sox back from that series. I am
Dumbfounded that he didn't win the LCS MVP. I know maybe one of my future picks in this draft, actually won the MVP that series, but you can pick all Manny. I mean, Manny is the all-time leader in postseason home runs. He cannot be mentioned or he cannot not be mentioned on this draft at all.
Sandy Kovax is my last pick. Fuck you.
speaker-0 (1:58:36)
John, anything on that?
speaker-2 (1:58:38)
No, it's a great pick.
speaker-0 (1:58:40)
we haven't taken a Yankee yet. No, I have. I took Reggie Jackson.
speaker-2 (1:58:47)
lined
speaker-0 (1:58:48)
Do I wanna do two Yankees in this one?
speaker-2 (1:58:52)
Two thousand.
speaker-0 (1:58:52)
I'm
gonna go old. Real old. I'm gonna go really old.
speaker-2 (1:58:55)
Lou
Gehrig. Highest highest OPS playoff OPS in history.
speaker-0 (1:59:00)
It's it's again, you guys spoiled. John spoiled a pick again all the time. I'm gonna go Lou Garrick, 1928, New York Yankees swept the Cardinals that year. 625 average, 240 2400 OPS. three homers, four ribies, but again, it was so easy for that Yankees team. and then
Hm. Interesting. let me write that down first. Hold on.
speaker-2 (1:59:29)
Isn't it crazy that why would his parents name him after Lou Gehrick disease?
speaker-1 (1:59:37)
you
speaker-2 (1:59:37)
Be like naming
your kid Alzheimer's and then they get Alzheimer's. Be crazy.
speaker-0 (1:59:44)
I'm gonna take the big unit in two thousand one, Randy Johnson. Final three outs in game seven, setting up the walk-off over the Yankees.
speaker-2 (1:59:53)
Was even the best pitcher on the team that postseason? You're about to
speaker-0 (1:59:58)
another pitcher that I have on my list, but I wanted to go Randy Johnson. Just having Biggie on
speaker-2 (2:00:02)
Not take the better one.
speaker-0 (2:00:03)
my list. You can take the better one, I don't care.
speaker-2 (2:00:06)
I don't want the fake the bloody sock. He faked the bloody
sock. That was food colouring. Beet juice, to be exact.
speaker-0 (2:00:14)
You're taking a piece of shit of a bad human being. I'm gonna take Randy Johnson, who just loves taking
speaker-2 (2:00:19)
Caleb, Caleb
Caleb takes every You know me.
speaker-0 (2:00:23)
No, no, Somebody
somebody last week was even like, taking Ray Rice and Justin Tucker is crazy, but I can see what he's building.
speaker-2 (2:00:34)
he's a let me cook. Caleb's about to find out that like Ted Bundy played men's league baseball. He's gonna take his 75 men's league run. He was a killer on the field. Killer on the field. Don't sleep on Ted Bundy's OPS and the Don't sleep around Ted Bundy specifically.
Let's take your pick, Caleb. am I gonna do it? Clip out. Clip it out.
No, I'm not, actually. I I will take two thousand four NLCS MVP Albert Puhols. Ooh.
speaker-0 (2:01:10)
there was actually another two thousand four NL player that you could have taken too that but Pools is not bad whatsoever.
speaker-2 (2:01:17)
No, because Pooh's hit five hundred in thirty-two at bats in that series, or twenty-eight at bats, sorry, thirty-two plate appearances, four homers, nine RBIs, fifteen sixty-three OPS. win probability added, I don't really add that stat much, but he had a twenty-three percent WPA in that series, NLCM VP. I think Pooh's kind of fell.
I'm gonna go with my heart. I'm gonna take twenty twenty Randy Rosarena, ten home runs, sixty-four total bases. Unfortunately, they did not win the World Series, but what a freaking run, am I right? So that's in the books. And
speaker-0 (2:01:53)
COVID.
speaker-2 (2:01:54)
then I think I will take this is really hard. five Christy Matthewson, three complete games in six days. What a performance.
speaker-0 (2:02:07)
Nineteen five Christy Mathewson.
speaker-2 (2:02:10)
Nineteen five Christy Mathewson. I respect it. I I mean I was there when it happened and it was electric. It was electric. I believe he struck out Timmy Tungsten Armo Doyle in the sixth inning. he was a pitcher. I don't care. He wasn't even a real person.
There's no way tungsten Arm O'Doyle is a real person. I have no idea. I'm gonna Google that. His arm was Well back then back
speaker-0 (2:02:41)
And what do you do?
speaker-2 (2:02:42)
then they pitched too. The the the pitch you know the pitchers hit so
Pretty sure this is a joke made by on an Frederick born old tungsten Armo Doyle.
Greatest athlete we've ever seen.
speaker-0 (2:02:54)
I
speaker-2 (2:02:55)
There's
no fucking way.
speaker-0 (2:02:57)
Caleb, you're up.
speaker-2 (2:02:58)
All right. I'm touring, so I've taken a lot of pitchers, but I guess I will keep the villain the villain draft going for myself. I will take Kurt Schilling and I will take him in the two thousand one World Series where he threw twenty one innings to a one six nine ERA, took down the powerhouse Yankees.
I think he set the record for most N words used in the series as well.
I have no response to that. I Hey He's a fucking racist. Well then
speaker-0 (2:03:35)
Drafting Ray Rice.
speaker-2 (2:03:36)
Kurt Schilling, Justin Tucker, Davis, John Diggs. To my knowledge, Kurt Schilling didn't assault anyone, so it's a couple of other picks.
speaker-0 (2:03:48)
He scammed
he scammed the government out of Can we
speaker-2 (2:03:51)
We
please do greatest kidbees of all time so that Caleb can take Brett Favre.
speaker-0 (2:03:55)
Yeah.
speaker-2 (2:03:56)
I'll take Brett Favre, Big Ben.
speaker-0 (2:03:59)
He's gonna he's gonna like show us a highlight of Aaron Hernandez playing quarterback in high school. And he's like, Look, he was a quarterback.
speaker-2 (2:04:06)
Take shilling, one six nine ERA in the World Series and beat the Yankees. Six nine, nice.
Alex, you're you get you get to respond.
speaker-0 (2:04:14)
I'm gonna take this is not the best player on the list, but this is just more nostalgia picking for me. I'm going twenty thirteen Koji. Twenty thirteen Koji.
speaker-2 (2:04:25)
Another spoiled pick.
speaker-0 (2:04:27)
Point six six ERA, point five one whip, seven saves, and he had a pick off to end game four, picking off Colton Long.
speaker-2 (2:04:36)
So you're taking them in the World Series, not the A L C S?
speaker-0 (2:04:38)
Playoffs.
speaker-2 (2:04:39)
Thought we were taking a specific series. No, it was the playoffs. Very, very, very obvious.
speaker-0 (2:04:44)
We
cleared that up. We cleared that up at the beginning. That was incredibly clear. That wasn't John, was that not incredibly clear?
speaker-2 (2:04:51)
No,
it was very clear to me.
speaker-0 (2:04:53)
Very clear.
speaker-2 (2:04:54)
I was reading off stats for a specific series.
speaker-0 (2:04:56)
I'm taking Koji.
Well, I mean they're still fine, like your picks are still good, but I'm taking Koji. I mean just you couldn't you couldn't do anything against him. Caleb, what could you do against against Koji?
speaker-2 (2:05:09)
About as much as Blaze Jordan could do against Caleb in college.
speaker-0 (2:05:13)
Blaze Alexander
speaker-2 (2:05:14)
Blaise Alexander.
And it was high school. high school is what I said. I don't think Blaze Alexander went to college.
speaker-0 (2:05:22)
Alright, John goes two thousand and four David Ortiz, nineteen sixty-eight, Bob Gibson, nineteen seventy nine, Willie Stargil, twenty twenty Randy Arroz Arena, and nineteen five Christy Mathewson. Caleb goes two thousand fourteen Madison Bumgarner, nineteen sixty-five Sandy Koufex, two thousand and seven Manny Ramirez, two thousand and four Albert Pujols and two thousand and one Kurt Schilling.
And Alex goes two thousand and one David Freeze, nineteen seventy-eight, Reggie Jackson, nineteen twenty eight, Luke Garrick, two thousand and one Randy Johnson, and two thousand and thirteen Koji Uihara.
speaker-2 (2:06:03)
All Can I do honorable mentions?
speaker-0 (2:06:05)
Yes, you can.
speaker-2 (2:06:07)
three Josh Beckett. Thank you. heavy underdogs to the Yankees. I just don't think he pitched enough in the playoffs. I think what had like six starts in the postseason. it was between Shilling and him for me. And Beckett, I think, had nineteen innings in that postseason. Or in that one series at least. Now, granted, they were incredible underdogs to the Yankees, and he shut them down on three days rest.
and won that game. Twenty-five Yamamoto, obviously. almost picked him over Randy Rosarena. And then Caleb for you, 2016 enrolled as Chapman because he was arrested for domestic violence the following year, I believe. So he probably was on your list. had a hell of a run in twenty sixteen, thirteen relief outings, twenty-one strikeouts, four saves, two wins.
So that is not the twenty sixteen left-handed reliever I had on my board. honorable mention to Andrew Miller. Andrew Miller. I had pretty much any year of Mariano Rivera. Any Derek Jeter besides besides 2001. 99, 2001, Jeter. I believe Babe Ruth in twenty seven, twenty eight, thirty-two, pick any one of those World Series. That's what I had on my list.
speaker-0 (2:07:26)
I
had Oral Hersheiser in eighty eight. Four forty two innings pitch in in the playoffs, one five ERA, thirty two strikeouts, three complete games.
speaker-2 (2:07:38)
Twenty fifteen ALCS Al C is Escobar.
Twenty fifteen ALCS Who? Al Al C D'Eskabar. You everybody knows who Al CDs Escobar is. Caleb don't twenty eighteen Jackie.
speaker-0 (2:07:49)
Bradley Junior. You're welcome for that. You would know that, but
speaker-2 (2:07:53)
I mean I mentioned it. That's honorable. Grand Slam offers Roberto Azuna a three run dollar.
speaker-0 (2:07:58)
Twenty eighteen Brock Holt hit for the cycle in the playoffs.
speaker-2 (2:08:01)
Steve Pierce, can't forget.
speaker-0 (2:08:04)
Yep. David Price
speaker-2 (2:08:05)
No, two thousand eight. He was World Series MVP. Dickhead by the way. I served him one
speaker-0 (2:08:09)
Okay. Yep.
speaker-2 (2:08:11)
time.
Drunk, drunk dickhead too, by the way. Future Hall of Famer, Cole Angels? Future Hall of Famer Kyle Schwarber. Sure. If he's the first thing when someone says future Hall of Famer is the first name that comes to mind, Kyle Schwarber. Future Hall of Famer of Salvador Perez? No, he's not gonna make it. Not good enough.
speaker-0 (2:08:37)
Crawford do in eight? Genuinely curious.
speaker-2 (2:08:39)
OA
O A was James Shield.
speaker-0 (2:08:41)
I've
never looked up that team. I'm just curious what he did.
speaker-2 (2:08:44)
wait, it
was Matt Garza. It was all Matt Gas. Did Mongoria not have a great postseason as well that year? He had a great regular season. I don't know how he did in the playoffs. I just know Matt Garza just absolutely dominated us.
speaker-0 (2:08:54)
Crawford two batted two ninety, seven stolen bases in the playoffs, two homers, eight RBIs.
speaker-2 (2:09:02)
What was Matt Garza like a one five ERA like twenty innings, something like that?
speaker-0 (2:09:07)
Let see here.
speaker-2 (2:09:08)
Him and James came into my sporting goods store when I was a senior in high school.
speaker-0 (2:09:13)
Somebody said Matt Garza is ball knowledge. If you know who Matt Garza is, that's ball knowledge. I don't agree with that whatsoever.
speaker-2 (2:09:19)
No.
No. Two thousand two AL rookie of the year, Ungel Baroa is ball knowledge. Twenty twelve Red Sox legend, Maro Gomez is ball knowledge. Look at this one. Unhelboro rookie. I don't know if Ale I don't know if Alex even knows who Mauro Gomez is, do you? I don't know who
speaker-0 (2:09:39)
I don't like vividly remember it. I just remember
speaker-2 (2:09:41)
Like
forty games. He played like forty games hitting cleanup for the twenty twelve Red Sox.
speaker-1 (2:09:47)
my god.
That's.
speaker-0 (2:09:53)

Both from my daddy.
Both from my daddy.
