3:25

3:31

guest Curtis Brown recurring guest I think this is number three now I think I

3:36

want to say that we've had you on um yeah I figured this is the big AFC South couple weeks I mean the Colts they

3:43

played the Jags today they played the Texans next week um I would assume there's another

3:49

divisional game next week I would hope so um so we can we can do a little look

3:55

ahead here yeah let's see week two

4:01

oh Chiefs Jags that's a big week for the AFC South yeah that's a rematch of the

4:07

divisional round yeah and then um oh Titans Chargers which again very

4:13

big week I would say so Mass you know this is this is I would say one of the

4:18

most important weeks most important seasons for the AFC South quarterback wise development wise yeah

4:26

man it's hard to argue that in any other way because our whole division is is with the

4:32

exception of tanhill young quarterbacks so I mean and somewhat talent I mean

4:37

let's let's be honest will Levis isn't isn't the best right now we didn't see

4:43

much out of them in Camp and I don't even I didn't even hear from them in uh the regular season or in in

4:49

the preseason so I think he got hurt after his first appearance

4:56

makes sense yeah yeah he got hurt and he's been he's been

5:01

shelved ever since yeah he's I have a strong feeling it's going to be his whole career but you know so he might have a Malik Willis

5:07

he'll come in for like half a game and everyone will be like wow we know why he was drafted so low and why he dropped so

5:15

much yeah yeah and then the Lord thank the Lord no uh nobody else took him before Anthony

5:21

Richardson Anthony Richardson didn't get taken before the Colts pick yeah yeah I see I

5:30

don't know I was I was of the opinion that Anthony Richardson let's put let's hold on let me back this up okay

5:38

let's just say hypothetically Anthony Richardson was like I'm not coming out of the the draft in 2022. 2023 draft not

5:47

doing it I'm gonna wait till 2024. he's like a fourth round draft pick

5:55

yeah I would agree I mean this Gator team the only thing this Gator team

6:01

being so bad helps his stock even more yeah because it's like wow this guy

6:08

there was like a legitimate conversation early in that season they were like wow this Gator team could

6:14

be like a top 10 team in the in the country yeah and now they're not even close no nowhere near close but next

6:22

year's draft class is going to be blush with dudes from Caleb Williams

6:28

Drake May um what was that other kid I don't think shadir Sanders is eligible to be drafted

6:35

but um basically everybody in the Pac-12 right now is lighting it up

6:41

and I feel like isn't isn't Shadow he would be going into his third year next

6:46

year right because he was one year at Jackson State yeah so he's got a year he's got a year yeah yeah

6:53

um but there's literally like 11 draftable quarterbacks and I've heard as

7:00

many as seven our first round Talent Jesus so that's my theory as to why uh

7:09

AR would be a fourth round draft pick because a lot of those guys like a drake may

7:15

like a Caleb Williams those guys are closer to a generational Talent than say Anthony Richardson

7:24

yeah I think so I would say the one thing that I've hung my hat on for Richardson because when when we first

7:30

drafted him I screamed into the TV no oh my God even though I knew it was going to happen I was like this is most likely

7:37

gonna happen um the thing that I've hung my hat on is

7:42

one with the Cults committing to a quarterback saying saying whatever happens we're sticking

7:49

with our guy we're gonna stick with this guy and see what happens he could be cut in two years but I would say you know

7:55

what they took a chance and they said let's put all the chips in

8:00

um the other thing that I'm hanging my hat on is that Anthony Richardson is a physical specimen of a human being he

8:07

wants to I think he wanted to play at 255 63 255 that's that's a monster and I think we

8:14

saw it today he's hard to bring down just as a quarterback just as a human being he's

8:20

hard to bring down especially that he has the can and that he does have yes are the Colts going to be smart enough

8:26

to use that Cannon no they're not they're they're dumb they're morons they're stupid and I

8:32

don't wanna I I'm like I sound annoying because it's like this is a the guy's first start and

8:40

it's um steichen's first game as you know an NFL head coach

8:45

but can we take one deep shot just just just try to throw it deep one time try

8:51

to throw it 30 yards in the air one time because I know Richardson can do it they did it at the at the Florida pro day

8:58

where they had him hit the the goddamn ceiling in the place yeah how are we not doing this how are we not taking a shot

9:05

and it is week one so I'm overreacting this is more what it is not not week one reactions week one overreactions no

9:12

well I think it the only reason that you don't take a shot in week one and it's

9:19

mostly because of who you're playing the Jaguars defense while not like the

9:24

most intimidating in the south probably has the best corner room and at

9:31

least top two uh safety rooms uh that's probably why if I had to guess

9:37

but also Shane steichen is trying to work on a little stuff with him

9:43

because he's got to learn on the Fly there's a lot of stuff that he was able to do at Florida

9:48

that probably just won't fly and you got to break some of those habits before you just all right kid go out there on cork

9:55

one for 75 yards and uh let's see what happens um plus I mean you got so what Alec

10:03

Pierce and Isaiah McKenzie or the I guess Josh Downs too got some speed to him

10:09

well Pittman junior is the number one guy and then you have Pierce and Josh Downs is

10:14

he's he's a I mean he was a great pick when we picked him but he's I think he's going to be a really good wide receiver

10:20

I do too I have a lot of uh high expectations for Josh Downs uh I don't I

10:26

wouldn't necessarily like crap it on Michael Pittman but the man just he doesn't get large chunks of yards

10:33

that's just not what he does you give him like nine ten catches he'll get nine eight nine yards every

10:40

time on average and um you know that that keeps the chains

10:45

moving but he's just not at your deep shot guy that's why I didn't include him in that little list there but

10:51

um I don't know Richardson is a is absolutely a physical specimen and I am

10:57

excited to see the way he develops but I feel like he'll develop more in line with

11:06

probably more in line with Vic with less accuracy his accuracy is a problem

11:12

um there were there were I mean the interception obviously was a bad throw I think I think people were giving him a

11:18

little bit more [ __ ] for it than I think he does deserve it was a tough throw to make um I liked him taking the shot at least

11:25

uh when he threw the when he threw that pick I was like that looks like a rookie interception that a rookie would throw

11:30

he was trying to hit his tight end on the sideline if he threw it higher I know mo alley Cox could have gone up to

11:36

get it but it wasn't as it wasn't a horrendous throw yeah

11:42

again I mean I only got one deep shot out of him and I understand that the working on the little things but there

11:49

were times it felt like I was watching the Eagles offense like the eagles offensive play calling but they just

11:56

didn't have they don't have the the guys there yeah to do it that's that's the

12:01

big thing is steiken is trying to run when he did in Philly and you just don't have the pieces yet or maybe everybody's

12:07

not quite as familiar with the system yet with time I guarantee that there will be

12:13

a lot more deep shots taken could be like week three four something like that that the offense and everybody just

12:20

starts nah probably the whole NFL will just kind of get to a different level once they've really shaken the rust off

12:27

yeah and and I think there's a lot of culture like I've again I bought into the prop to the Anthony Richardson

12:33

propaganda that was put out by the Colts you know it's like the Soviet Union and I bought into that propaganda

12:42

um but I think a lot of Colts fans really expected more I thought that the ceiling for the Colts if you went

12:48

directly into the off season knowing you at Richardson that ceiling was like 10 wins

12:54

um if every single thing went correct if everything went right there was no injuries nothing like that they could

12:59

win 10 games Taylor get tailored having his [ __ ] was already like okay

13:04

that's 10 wins is not possible nine wins if everything else goes right besides that

13:10

and then you lose Zach Moss which was I I think that was big because Dion Jackson was horrible today and then he

13:16

had two fumbles he had a couple drop passes I mean I love the guy I love him as a runner but he was horrendous yeah

13:24

um and now I just keep getting pushed I mean I knew obviously the best possible

13:30

scenario is unlikely to happen I'm expecting them to like win like three to five games and

13:36

as like my realest possibility so I'm not disappointed am I going to be pissed

13:41

off that they lose every Sunday yeah is it going to ruin my Sunday maybe a little bit Yeah but I have my own extra

13:48

I I have an understanding the expectations and a lot of Colts fans I think are over

13:54

there they they expect too much of this cold sting and they're they're gonna call for

13:59

everyone's head they're calling for Ballard's head because of this game they're like I hate Ballard I was like you guys gotta understand

14:05

this man just bought another three years of job security for himself by drafting Richardson

14:11

and it's going to take time especially with this kid it's going to take time and I think he looked better than than a

14:18

lot of people could have expected I'm gonna give you a little pushback on the three years uh of of uh yeah job

14:25

security um Anthony Richardson has three years of job security

14:31

if Ballard Ballard gets this season and maybe next season

14:36

but if there's not like whatever happens this year if there's not Improvement on it next season he's gone he's partially

14:44

the reason I think that uh steichen was like we're going to start Anthony Richardson

14:49

so early because of how much pressure Ballard is actually under because the

14:54

team has not really performed super well uh the last couple Seasons so I think

15:01

that um you know Bad season this year Bad season next year Ballard's out the door I think

15:07

there's a lot of pressure on him to do anything yeah uh your uh the drafting a couple

15:14

good linebackers and some good running backs and a few wide receivers it's not going to get you far in this league you

15:21

got you got to nail down the quarterback yeah it's been long enough seriously I'm getting sick and tired of the I mean I'm

15:28

wearing the luck Jersey I always wear the luck Jersey that's it's my jersey um but I was getting sick and tired of

15:33

hearing people make excuses for him um because I I get the 2019 season

15:42

I get it you try you you were in a bad spot I obviously at the time I was like yeah that's what they should have done

15:47

they should have tried to go out and win some games hindsight they could have gotten Joe Burr if they just said [ __ ]

15:53

it we're just gonna say say goodbye this season we're gonna go out and get Joe burrow yeah kind of

15:59

like they did with Andrew Luck yeah just Frank Reich ruin Joe burrow most likely

16:04

he does I felt like I was watching Frank Reich today it was horrendous it was just I

16:10

mean he was I felt like they they ran the ball three times into the into the middle of the pack on on a few different

16:17

drives where I was like what are you doing you need to score a touchdown here you're up three you're up whatever

16:22

you need to score a touchdown here so I didn't it it made me sick to my stomach I don't

16:28

want to talk about the Cults too much because there's three other teams that are probably better than the Colts um we'll talk about the Jags the winners

16:35

today uh only 1-0 team and yes only one I know team in the AFC South

16:41

um they out talented the Colts at the end yes that's pretty much how they're going to

16:47

win most of their games in the south um because you know we played the

16:53

detections play the Colts next week and then they play the Jacksonville Jaguars we have a pretty interesting little stretch right here

16:59

I uh I've been saying all all off season that it's a jaguars division to lose

17:05

um they they they bolstered that offense in the off season Trevor Lawrence is you

17:10

know we're expecting good things out of him and so far he's delivering uh Christian

17:16

Kirk had a solid day uh or not Calvin Ridley sorry he's the new number one now

17:23

um yeah that offense is going to be a absolute force in in the south at least

17:29

uh I I could see them getting back to divisional round maybe the AFC

17:34

Championship Game this year if uh you know health if health

17:41

yeah if Health uh works out for them I um I feel like they were I mean it's

17:46

week one so we're gonna overreact I don't you know I'm not gonna preface it with that anymore people should just

17:51

understand they were a little underwhelming today uh the end obviously they out talented them they scored the

17:56

touchdown after that pick to really seal things this game was not even close to

18:02

over um with what I think two minutes was when the pick happened yeah maybe under two minutes so

18:09

it was underwhelming I've been I've always said the Jag's gonna win the division this year that was my I was

18:15

fully confident but I never really I've never really believed in them to be

18:20

a fantastic team it's it's pretty easy to win the AFC South yeah you could probably do it at nine and eight this

18:26

year maybe even a losing record because the Titans don't look good Houston doesn't look good and the Colts

18:32

definitely don't look good um are they get I think a step forward for

18:38

them not even winning a playoff game this year just just winning 10 games I feel like you win the extra game you win

18:44

10 games that's a step forward for them yeah because Doug Peterson he's probably the best coach they've had

18:51

ever arguably yeah since at least since Coughlin

18:56

he's yeah he's gotta have almost not unlimited job security but if they keep improving just in the wing

19:03

column his job Security's gonna be fine um I even if they have to go play

19:09

because they might have to go play a heart a real good team in the Wild Card round if they win the division so I

19:14

wouldn't expect him to win a playoff game they gotta tighten it up uh Lawrence had

19:20

some he had some really good moments and they had some bad moments like that uh almost interception um that he threw

19:26

basically right to Julian Blackman today which black men just bobbled so

19:31

I'm giving them I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt but it felt like they almost didn't even deserve to be

19:37

want to know until the end yeah yeah I mean everybody struggles week one you're

19:44

finally implementing the new system you're showing everybody what you're going to do um you're trying to figure out who's who

19:51

on your team uh because I mean you can play anybody in the preseason but you don't know

19:57

what you've got until the regular season starts all off season the Jags have improved

20:03

their offense their defense is going to be the biggest question mark probably known to man this year

20:09

um it's not like their defense was really able to shut much of anything down last year I doubt they'll be able

20:15

to do anything like that this year their defense is going to be a liability for them unless some dudes really step

20:22

up uh because I I didn't really even have the Colts score in that many points against the Jags this week so I was

20:28

definitely disappointed in the way that their defense played there's probably some individual efforts that you know were pretty solid but as a team I mean

20:36

you're letting up 21 points to a rookie head coach and a rookie quarterback and you've got a bunch of dudes who are on

20:42

second contracts on your team that shouldn't be happening so

20:48

the Jags man they're gonna Jag as much as they possibly can and still win games

20:55

yeah yeah um Trevor Lawrence being the uh being the next Andrew Luck I I still love

21:02

hearing that every once in a while because I'm like I mean the guy is clearly improving but Andrew Luck won 11 games his first

21:09

season in the NFL and turned a two and two and 14 Colts team into 11 and five so

21:15

maybe maybe people were a little too excited to start out yeah but I mean it's not like that 2 and

21:23

14 Colts team the year before was I mean if they had a quarterback

21:28

they would have been okay yeah yeah I remember they almost beat the the Brady Patriots that year yeah I

21:35

mean what was uh who was the quarterback for you all that year it was that was the guy who looked like Jesus

21:43

um Whitehurst yeah I think Charlie Whitehurst was there and uh Dan orlovsky

21:49

at some point orlovsky I think there was a there was another one yeah was it a painter

21:57

painter that's who it is yeah Curtis Painter I don't like to think about those names

22:02

yeah it was a dark time for the Colts that was uh you know Peyton's neck injury year oh man

22:09

yeah weird time um my God such a weird time yeah let's

22:15

talk about the Titans so I feel like Ryan Tannehill kind of forgot that DeAndre Hopkins is actually

22:21

old because he threw up two jump balls to Hopkins that maybe

22:27

five six years ago he he brings down with ease not this time it's not the

22:33

Andre Hopkins of old I didn't get to watch a whole lot of the

22:38

game I did get to watch probably the last I don't know seven minutes in the fourth

22:45

quarter and it really didn't look like that offensive line was doing many things to help Ryan Tannehill

22:51

um I kind of expected there to be a drop off in production for D hop because

22:57

d-hop is not going to get the targets that he's used to in any other building

23:02

uh the Titans historically throw the ball like last season they threw the

23:08

ball 26.8 times which it was The League worst League lowest

23:14

um the perspective on that number 1949 the league leader in past attempts

23:22

through for 26.3 just to kind of give you a perspective

23:27

on how much they're not actually throwing the ball that person's name was y a tittle by the way

23:32

and um yeah it's pretty rough to be a Titans

23:38

fan right now because they've all been calling for you know a complete

23:43

offensive line overhaul uh the the dudes that they brought in were backups

23:49

with the exception of uh the first round draft pick skaronski I think he's going

23:54

to develop into a solid player yeah no he's one hell of a blocker out

23:59

of Northwestern but I mean everybody else on that offensive line is new they have five new starters so

24:06

there was going to be bumps and bruises the Saints defense is not to be messed around with they they've been slept on

24:12

pretty pretty aggressively um honestly both of those defenses came to play today and you're gonna have what

24:19

the Titans scored five field goals and I think the Saints had like three of

24:25

their own so they had a in the first half they went it started Saints fumble

24:33

Titan's field goal Saints field goal Titans field goal Saints punt Titans

24:38

punt Saints punt Titans punt Saints field goal uh Titans int

24:45

Saints punt Titans field goal Saints int and then the end of the half yeah

24:51

what an electric first half it was it was like I was watching California and

24:57

Auburn all over again Jesus it's Big Ten football that's what

25:03

it reminded me of just it's all big ten football oh man it was rough it was rough

25:08

um I work at a pizza place and usually on Sundays we get a bunch of Titans fans

25:14

coming in there and we did that today and when I tell you everybody was you know like we gotta get rid of Tannehill

25:20

I mean literally everyone I had like a 75 year old woman being like I don't understand why the Titans held on to 17.

25:28

what has he got you know let that the young kid what's his name Willis get in

25:34

there that kid's got some moves I'm like Jesus for people from Tennessee to be rooting

25:41

for an African-American quarterback to go in there you you really got it you really gotta

25:47

want Daniel out of there let's be honest let's let's just be honest yeah yeah you

25:53

really gotta not like Danielle I mean I've probably gotten like two or three different text messages from

25:59

from Titans fans in the area being like ah Tannehill ain't it we gotta we gotta

26:05

do something so I mean yeah it's it's widespread for the Titans fans

26:11

um I also think that eventually they'll be able to settle in once all these guys on

26:17

their offensive line get the chance to gel because that's that's the only way it happens is just at the same Five Guys

26:24

walking out of the field and playing together many weeks in a row

26:30

eventually on the offensive line they'll get [ __ ] figured out um Derrick Henry will become Derek Henry

26:37

of old again and the Titans will do okay I'm not expecting them to be Earth

26:43

beaters by any means but uh you know seven eight wins seems pretty likely

26:48

yeah um the Titans it's it's like Groundhog

26:54

Day to me with with their entire organization I mean when when they I

26:59

feel like it was probably 2019 they won the division in 19 right 19.

27:08

no I think it was I think they won 19 20 and 21.

27:15

let me look at the history here um because last year the Jags won yeah 19

27:22

20 and 21. so they were the number one seed and 20

27:29

correct yep I feel like that was that was their year you know that I mean that was

27:34

obviously like the window and I feel like that when they just keep they keep trying to hold a window open

27:41

that is just shutting on them and shutting on them like God just keeps he just keeps slamming that window shut and

27:47

it drops a couple more inches and they're just trying to push back and you you have to be like Let It Go just just

27:55

shut just rip the whole thing apart take the engine out just destroy the whole thing and start from scratch the fact

28:02

dhop even wanted to go there I I remember when I got the notification it was like DeAndre Hopkins signed with

28:08

Tennessee Titans I was like why what that is like the weirdest place to go of all time yeah

28:13

and I think it's got to be a little bit to do with uh something that you already mentioned to him being a little older

28:20

um I think a lot of people were not trying to give him that kind of money and the Titans were that kind of desperate

28:27

so that's probably what it all came down to because Houston didn't even pick up

28:33

the phone and he came and visited some of the players in Houston just you know say

28:39

what's up um no calls casario didn't call him for

28:45

anything um and it might be because there's probably some bad blood from when he left but

28:51

I mean damn that that guy is one of the best wide receivers in franchise history and you're not even going to give him a

28:57

call yeah there's got to be something going on there um you know he'll probably end up with a

29:04

thousand yards and somewhere in the ballpark of 60 to 75 catches this season

29:10

it just won't be DeAndre hopkins-esque numbers that we're used to because Ryan Tannehill is not going to

29:17

throw on the ball all that well and uh it's just going to be a rough ride like DeAndre Hopkins has not been able to

29:24

stay healthy and if he goes down you got trailon Burks as you're number one and that's going to be a problem

29:30

yeah when he had his kind of criteria for a team he wanted a an established

29:37

quarterback established coach and an established GM well

29:42

Ryan Tannehill he's a quarterback in the league yeah he's been there so I guess

29:49

you could call him he's established Mike Rabel is an established head coach he's a young head coach but I I still give

29:56

him his flowers as the teams that he is motivated to actually somewhat succeed

30:01

is shocking yeah and if I'm not mistaken

30:06

they just hired a new GM correct yes um the from the 49ers God why can I not

30:14

ran carthon yeah so he was able to meet one of his criteria and that head coach

30:21

is Young and it made sense why he wanted to go to New England I mean Matt Jones not an established quarterback but Bill

30:27

Belichick is if you want an established coach that's your guy yeah

30:32

yeah and he's pretty much a GM anyways yeah he is the GM and that's that's what they were the Texans tried to do with

30:38

Bill O'Brien we're like oh you came from that coaching tree you're like the same guy let's make it happen yeah and that

30:45

worked out um yeah but yeah nah dhob's decision to go there was always kind of puzzling to me but I

30:52

mean the man's gonna get double coverage every play so you would imagine that you know some of these younger guys that the Titans

30:58

have be able to get open down field or in the middle of the field I don't know if chig Okonkwo who the

31:05

media in that because I live around Nashville um the media around here has been

31:10

waiting to anoint this man the next great franchise tight end I don't even

31:15

know my fantasy league it's my backup yeah I don't even know if he caught a pass today I know at some point I

31:24

checked his stats and it was like the third quarter and he had zero catches zero yards

31:29

so I mean unless something changed that last quarter and a half I'd you know there's no way he like lit it up

31:36

he had uh two Targets today no no catches no catches yeah see

31:45

and this is the problem the they probably put did Marshawn Lattimore play today do you know the

31:50

corner for the Saints um because I know he wasn't questionable

31:56

or uh yes he did okay so you put Marshawn Lattimore on DeAndre Hopkins

32:01

and the Titans are expecting double coverage you're probably not double covering him if you've got Marshawn

32:07

Lattimore on him at least not as often yeah so I imagine that that

32:14

worked out pretty well for them so they just straight up

32:19

didn't know how to play football today Ryan Dan Hill was confused he's like whoa whoa we'll back up there's not a

32:25

safety help over top I'm gonna throw it to D hop on those on this 50 50 ball yeah no it's rough uh

32:31

you can't when you come out there expecting to be double covered and you're not and there's not much you can

32:37

do to alienate that decision uh you're in some trouble you're in some

32:43

deep trouble uh it's kind of like doing a pick em and you see the Cleveland Browns and you're

32:48

like oh it's the Browns they're they're definitely going to lose because it's those ugly ass uniforms they don't even

32:55

have an actual logo on their helmet but no they won today they found a way to win

33:01

Yeah by a wide margin the the Bengals the Bengals just can't handle the Browns for whatever reason

33:08

Paul Brown is somewhere just continuously rolling over in his grave

33:13

because of all the dirtiness that was done to him by the Browns organization

33:19

um but Jesus Christ I mean wow

33:24

rough it was ugly I have burrow and Chase on my fantasy team because I was like oh they don't the double Duo I mean

33:30

they'll be perfect yeah not week one now we won oh man I'm getting killed I'm getting

33:37

destroyed right now which you throw it away you say next week yeah yeah always

33:43

another week um yeah and uh Houston you're Texans

33:49

CJ Stroud will go over his stats 28 for 44 242 5.5 average uh five sacks 21.3

33:58

qbr and 78 rating yeah um so the offensive line did no favors

34:06

for him um we were already coming into this game down three starting offensive lineman uh

34:12

we were down to our third Center

34:17

um because the first one towards LCL and ACL and trading Camp juice Scruggs we've got a hamstring injury uh Kenyan green

34:25

had season ending shoulder surgery at left guard um and then Titus Howard broke his hand

34:31

and had surgery on that uh juice grug's and Howard are on shirt short-term IR so

34:37

hopefully in a couple three weeks we'll we'll get them back and they'll be healthy and you know we can at least

34:42

start to keep him upright but uh we also brought in George Fant who

34:49

got her today and we had to replace him with Michael Dieter a guard Center

34:54

and he got worked on his first play in the game and CJ got popped

35:00

he got hit a lot today I am of the camp like I know I'd say things all the time

35:08

about Ohio State quarterbacks but I feel like if you're going to give CJ Stroud the best opportunity to be the franchise

35:15

guy if the team is crap sit his ass and let him learn

35:22

there's no reason to go out here and just take hit after hit to his

35:28

confidence and to his body and you know hope that on the other side he's got the resilience to be like ah

35:35

we're gonna bounce back every week every season I I this is a guy who probably hasn't

35:41

lost more than three games in a season since his like Middle School

35:46

um and that's that confidence in quarterbacks go hand in hand you get a you can have the most talented

35:53

quarterback in the world but if he didn't believe he can go out there and do it he's going to go out there and play like [ __ ] yeah and um it's not like the Texans

36:00

have the best uh surrounding Talent uh watching the game I was definitely uh

36:07

there were some things that were bright spots the defense played pretty well against the Run

36:13

um I mean that was where most of the touchdown damage was done but that was

36:19

through uh justice Hill who had eight carries for nine yards and two touchdowns uh JK Dobbins tours Achilles today

36:26

yeah he's done yeah so I mean that was nice to see because every year

36:33

for the past couple three years uh it's been oh somebody's gonna hand the ball off wow that was a 75-yard touchdown run

36:42

um and it's disgusting it's disgusting so yeah that was at least something to to be like all right we got a little bit

36:48

better on that front um I took the under on Lamar's passing yards today which hit

36:55

um mostly because I knew he wouldn't have to throw the ball a whole hell of a lot

37:01

or for a lot of yards yeah and uh I was right and

37:07

look I I anticipated the Texans probably wouldn't score double-digit points

37:13

um I I think my prediction was like 35 to 10 I think maybe

37:19

so pretty pretty close yeah it was it wasn't exactly perfect but I'll take it

37:26

um there's so much uh youth on this team will Anderson got

37:33

his first sack today but it's going to be a rough year um there's a lot of Texans fans out here

37:39

saying that we're you know we're threatening uh the Jags this year or we're going to have

37:46

you know greater than five or six wins and I'm like you guys realize that five

37:51

or six wins would be absolutely monumental like with the roster that we have I

37:57

don't care that our offensive line is top 10 and pay everywhere else is suspect to change

38:03

over the next couple years I mean Nico Collins this is his last year to prove it Robert Woods is old

38:10

Noah Brown on his second team he's predominantly a special teams player

38:15

that's just the wide receiver room Dalton Schultz one-year deal I mean the offensive weapons are going

38:22

to be in a state of flux for years to come and people think we're going to be trying to win right now

38:29

come on son if we're gonna suck let the man learn on the sidelines and not take

38:35

the hit to his confidence it doesn't mean he's trash all it means is we don't

38:41

want to break him before you know we're actually using yeah yeah

38:48

because we're really not using him right now CJ Stroud's running for his damn wife and flinging the ball down there and

38:54

half the dudes are dropping the passes it's Matt Ryan is not retired yet

39:01

well look I would rather see Davis go on sign Matt Ryan no uh I'd rather see I'm

39:07

also not of the opinion that you have to have a veteran guy in there for someone else to learn like

39:14

like let's take AR and Gardner minchu I feel if if this was Ballard's first

39:22

year then Anthony Richardson probably wouldn't be playing right now

39:28

there would be a lot less pressure on the GM spot to come down there and be like hey coach

39:33

you know if the rookie doesn't play and we play like [ __ ] I'm out yeah um

39:40

I wouldn't be upset if you know at some point we're not winning a lot of games Davis Mills comes in

39:47

I if we're gonna suck we're gonna suck regardless and why not let Davis go out there and

39:53

get those get those hits and potentially get himself another contract with

39:58

another team because I mean he's definitely not going to be back here but

40:04

I would prefer that to happen just because there's there's not much positive on the offense right now

40:11

yeah um I I always agree with sitting the rookie that's that's my that's always

40:18

been mine we you know we talked a little earlier we we definitely agreed on that I think Richardson really should have

40:23

said I've been sold on him but I'm not if it was my choice I would have sat him no Stroud again there's no reason to

40:30

play I think I can see from the other side of you know I'm playing devil's advocate

40:35

here that if if it's so bad now that when it's easy it'll be even better

40:43

you know I mean if he's really going through the tough times and he can he can go through in 17 Game season

40:49

dealing with all this [ __ ] with a terrible offensive line then

40:55

he'll be really really good when when the team is really good when they have a good offensive line he'll be able to appreciate it more

41:01

but I just don't think that's I think that is such a slippery slope because a

41:06

lot of these guys will just get hurt and then they're done yeah one quarterback example of a guy who went through the

41:13

bad times and is now struggling in the good times

41:18

um not necessarily in week one his performance wasn't great but DeSean

41:25

Watson Deshawn Watson was drafted to a team who had no offensive line to speak of

41:32

he struggled to stay upright most games in his rookie season and

41:39

um but he eventually figured out how to play with a bad team and they eventually

41:44

got the Texans to get over the hump a little bit and get into the playoffs and win the division three years

41:51

um but then he gets sent to the Browns and we all know why

41:56

um and he has not done well and the Browns have a much better offensive line than

42:01

he's ever had in Houston yeah I think what happens when you play well

42:08

behind a bad offensive line is it gives you your gives your quarterback an opportunity to learn bad habits

42:14

because it's out of necessity rather than like a one-time thing or you know a

42:19

couple times a game it's a bad habit DeShaun Watson feels like he's pretty much always going to be outside of the

42:25

pocket and when he's in the pocket and it's not collapsing he's like what's going on right now yeah

42:31

um I think that there's a lot of things that uh CJ Stroud has the potential to

42:38

learn both good and bad when it comes to having to deal with the bad offensive line play and the injuries

42:45

that the Texans are going to be dealing with but it just kind of comes down to would you

42:51

rather have a slight increase in wins this year

42:59

or a franchise quarterback to me and I'm not even saying that he necessarily will

43:04

be that but you got to give that quarterback the opportunity to sit and learn

43:10

so that when the time comes to be the franchise guy he's ready yeah most of these dudes in the first

43:16

round have not sat for any length of time since

43:22

what maybe freshman year in college for some of these guys

43:27

yeah most of them I would say so it's been I mean for Richardson it's been

43:33

like a year but for a lot of those other guys it's been like two to probably two to three years yeah and when they're

43:41

sitting they're learning they're not necessarily not necessarily the college's develop all of the quarterback

43:47

things that you need to do but if you've got dudes who haven't sat

43:53

for a while and you're talking about a position that confidence is the biggest part of it

44:00

sitting is not a bad idea like I don't I don't understand the oh it's uh like uh

44:07

the guy does the cult stuff on my channel he was like if we sit Richardson it's

44:12

admitting failure how is that admitting failure I don't

44:18

know it's like he's like well we took him with a fourth pick if he's not starting then that means we missed on

44:24

the fourth pick I'm like no it doesn't it doesn't mean that at all just means that you know what you have right now

44:30

the field is probably not ready enough for your quarterback or vice versa like

44:38

it doesn't mean that Randy Richardson sucks it just means that Anthony Richardson needs to sit down digest

44:43

learn I don't know why everybody's so afraid of it especially it's that's like why

44:50

quarterback contracts are so light on the pocketbook and it gives you that

44:56

flexibility to surround people on your surround that quarterback with people on your team

45:02

that's the whole point and um that people just aren't figuring this out and

45:07

it's kind of annoying it's so I I can equate it to like take about take a handful of seeds and you

45:14

throw them into a like a big square of concrete right a couple of those seeds

45:19

are going to slip through the cracks and they're going to grow and they're going to blossom into a flower you know every once in a while you have some weeds and

45:25

some concrete but a lot of those seeds are gonna die yeah and a lot of these teams are not a good environment for a

45:33

quarterback to grow every once in a while a great quarterback is going to grow out of a really shitty environment but a lot of these guys something

45:41

something wrong something bad is going to go wrong the seed's gonna get stepped on and it's going to break or you know

45:47

something will happen no that's it and and saying the we admit failure

45:53

it's you're looking at your future I feel like that is a short term way of

45:59

looking at things and that is probably what Ballard is looking at he's like I got to keep my job you know can can you

46:05

blame the guy he wants to keep his job like you really can't blame him for that I think casario is in the same situation

46:11

Ballard said he had um he said maybe one really good draft

46:18

um with you know Stingley and all those guys but and last year was pretty solid too

46:23

but um the the fact that CJ Stroud had to start

46:30

and that demeko Ryan's waited until Wednesday or whatever to announce that he was going to start for the Baltimore

46:36

Ravens game um I think it was a lot more to do with uh casario being like hey we got to

46:43

start Stroud and D'Amico being like I don't know if I want to do that

46:50

um I don't really know exactly how much Freedom that man has but um I can imagine a similar scenario

46:57

happening where Syria's got to have him starting because

47:03

it's not like he had since casseria has been here that we've just been you know beating everybody

47:09

um we've been a revolving door at head coach and it's it's been kind of an

47:15

embarrassment lately to be a Houston Texans fan to be honest it's I'll be honest it's been an

47:21

embarrassment to be just an AFC South team fan I feel like even the great

47:26

years from those teams end an embarrassment they they always do I mean the Jags the most recent one they were

47:33

nine and eight that's not something that really hang your hat on I know they went on a run and they played well against

47:38

Kansas City so that's not losing that way is not an embarrassment but the best team you can send out there is a nine

47:45

and eight Jaguars team the probably the most feeble franchise out of all of them yeah good Lord

47:51

yeah I I don't know man the AFC South is in for a

47:57

world of hurt this year if uh these these showings continue

48:03

um yeah the Jags the Jags might just you know win 11 12 games because of how bad

48:09

uh everything in the AFC South is I had them splitting with the Titans initially I don't know if I'll maintain that one

48:16

but we'll see the Titans look really bad I was trying to pay attention as much as I could to their game because the Colts

48:23

were on the same time and they looked I mean it was hard to watch I mean the

48:28

Saints weren't that much easier to watch but yeah you would expect I guess you kind of expect more from that team where

48:35

it's like the Saints are like well they're pretty shitty you know I mean Derek Carr's their quarterback you go into it you're not really sure what's

48:40

gonna happen but like the Titans it's just been year after year of disappointment yeah

48:48

oh yeah uh I mean basically since that AFC Championship game they've been the most injured team in the league

48:55

um there's just not a lot going right for the Titans right now eventually they'll you know once they

49:02

get rid of Tannehill or draft a new guy or whatever um eventually they'll get it figured out

49:07

but it looks real rough right now to be a Titans fan yeah and when when people talk about an

49:14

injured team right you know you look at like one year and it's like wow this scene was just riddled with injuries okay that's fine even like two years you

49:21

can say okay you know it's just two bad years but when it just continuous it's the same thing with the Ravens at that

49:28

point there is a fundamental issue no matter what I mean you cannot keep your guys healthy yeah the strength and

49:34

conditioning coach for these organizations needs to probably be reevaluated if not fired outright

49:41

um I've been banging that table from for the Titans since the 2020 season or 20 which one they got the it was the year

49:48

after the yeah 2021 where they went to they were the one seed and uh lost they

49:54

got there before yeah yeah there was 20 yeah it was 21. they were they were they

50:01

were the onesied with the most injuries in NFL history on one team I think they fielded uh a total of like

50:08

97 players yeah uh which is you basically had two

50:13

different teams it's embarrassing yeah oh and then the next season they were like too shy of breaking the record

50:20

yeah they're gonna try and break it this year babe we'll see but

50:26

um I mean yeah that's that's bad whoever that strength and conditioning coach is is uh

50:33

is he's not on a hot seat at this point his ass has been melted um and he's just stuck to the chair so

50:41

uh yes well the one good thing about it is football's back thank you that's the

50:47

greatest thing of all time I love football if I die and there is no

50:53

football in the afterlife just send me back I I've said if I die in August just I

51:01

like I don't know what I would do because I waited a whole off season like like Jimmy Buffett died in August I

51:08

was like like that would suck that would be brutal I wouldn't even want to go to my own

51:13

funeral no no I was like dude is it Sunday right now you got my funeral on a

51:18

Sunday I would I would put in my will you guys are not allowed to do a funeral on Sunday if it's if it's during the

51:25

football season you can't because I don't want anybody to miss it yeah it's the greatest League it is

51:32

moved I used to be a baseball fan over football now it's flipped it is turned into football because it's just it's

51:39

just my data it's just a day to relax it's just it's awesome sit down eat food

51:45

I sat in a chair for seven hours straight today which I haven't done that since February or January probably nice

51:52

awesome yeah there's there's nothing better than having nothing to do but kick back and watch football it's it's

51:58

it's up there it's like cleanliness is Next to Godliness football is like like

52:05

right there yeah um yeah all right let's uh let's go to our draft

52:11

so in in uh spirit with football and you're on the show we're going to be doing an

52:16

AFC South draft okay this one was difficult so um do you have to do one player one

52:23

uniform one game one coach and one season for a specific team so you know

52:29

like the whatever 2002 Colts or the 2002 Titans whatever you have to pick a

52:35

specific one I'm it's a snake draft so I'm gonna let you go first with the first pick if you want it or you can

52:41

have the the second one okay for the guest all right I don't care it's your show you tell me what to do I got you

52:47

okay I'll give you the first pick okay uh so it's the first pick am I picking

52:52

out of players uh you can do whatever oh okay okay so there's not like a all right I got you

53:00

um first pick current or former players included egg

53:06

can be former as well okay hmm

53:16

Andre Johnson that's a good pick okay all right I

53:21

played for both uh the Texans and the Titans and the Colts three three AFC

53:28

South teams yeah yeah I mean I don't know why you didn't go for the full Infinity Gauntlet and go to play in

53:33

Jacksonville but you know whatever he's a legendary wide receiver he's a fantastic wide receiver that's a

53:39

great pick um I'm Gonna Leave My Player to the end now um

53:45

I'm more going so you there's like a few ways you can look at this as how you're drafting you can draft the best you can

53:52

draft your favorite or you can draft just for the spirit of the AFC South um

53:59

I'm gonna draft for the spirit of the AFC South oh God I'm gonna take my game okay I'm gonna do week 18 of the 2022

54:08

NFL season Colts and Texans two of the worst teams in the league the

54:15

Texans win the game and ruin their chance at the number one pick

54:20

um basically Lovie Smith was just it was a big middle finger to the Texas Texans organization saying I'm gonna [ __ ]

54:27

win this game the Colts lost it on a Hail Mary that

54:33

went right through the defensive backs hands it was [ __ ] Mountain like

54:39

personally hitting me of [ __ ] now yeah yeah woof yeah that was pretty bad

54:47

somehow that game was um a must-watch game at the end yeah I

54:53

don't know how it was through just sheer determination on will on the Lovie Smith's part

55:01

uh I'm gonna I'm gonna follow suit and I'm gonna draft a game here as well well um I get the wrap around snake draft

55:06

yeah you're right I'm stupid um I'm gonna go with

55:13

I'm gonna take a uniform this is this this was a horrific uniform this

55:21

was full AFC South this is the Peyton Manning the Colts have not had very many alternate uniforms and I'm not taking

55:28

the the most disgusting Uniforms on the planet or the which are the ones that are coming out this year

55:34

um I'm gonna be taking the blue helmet Throwbacks that they wore I can actually

55:39

pull up a picture if you don't remember them I think I do they were a navy blue

55:45

helmet with the Horseshoe on the back uh yeah with the was there a number on the

55:50

side or something I can't remember actually if there was a

55:55

number on that I don't think there was a number on the side I remember the helmet

56:02

I don't know if I can here we go this is probably the uh

56:07

the best one here let me present it up here

56:14

this one right here oh yeah

56:21

I forgot about that no number on the back or no no number on the helmet but

56:27

just double Horseshoe in the back yeah these are uh I I don't know if they are

56:34

truly Throwbacks or the Cults are just like we don't really have that much of a difference in um in our uniform and

56:41

we're just gonna we're gonna try something new but they're not good they're not good at uniforms besides the the classic Colts

56:49

uniform well that has inspired me and uh I'm gonna follow suit here with the uh

56:56

Jacksonville Jaguars jerseys and helmet combo that had the gold and black on it

57:01

that like faded from like black to gold or gold to black oh the the Blake

57:07

Bortles yeah Blake Bortles era helmet yeah that that was a one hell of a

57:14

uniform that helmet was gross I thought about going with the clean

57:20

Jags ones from like the the 90s with the actual Jaguar on the arm those are

57:25

awesome I love those but um in the spirit of yours I had to go with the the worst it was matte black

57:33

going into the shiny gold yeah what what is going

57:40

on what is going on here somebody was on some drugs and uh yeah

57:49

terrible terrible ah

57:55

yeah the little Jags patch I like though just says Jaguar I do like that how long

58:01

did those stay they couldn't have been there for too long it was like four or five years tops

58:08

I feel whenever I think of their uniform I think of those because it's just the Jaguars but I just couldn't remember

58:15

exactly how long yeah I think it was there for basically all of Blake Bortles

58:21

and then the moment he left they were like all right let's change it up again just to try to keep the fan base

58:27

somewhat happy they are it was it was like their best quarterback in franchise history

58:34

yeah I mean he's uh you're gonna be the AFC Championship yeah no he's actually like

58:40

they're number three in like almost all of their passing stats it's ridiculous now he's now he's working construction

58:46

on his new house yeah now poor portals

58:53

all right your next one all right so you said a game I'm gonna go with the

59:01

um let's see here I'm gonna go with the rosencopter game Titan or Texans Colts

59:09

that's where Sage rosenthals had to start in place of Matt Schaub and with

59:14

uh probably about eight minutes left to go in the fourth quarter the Colts score 21 unanswered points to end up winning

59:19

the game do I remember this I

59:25

I year was this uh this was a little bit before my time yeah no definitely before

59:32

my time Houston was winning that game by like two two scores I believe in the

59:38

fourth there was a pick six uh Sage rosenfels then on the next Drive

59:44

is driving down the field decides he's going to take the ball off and run with it and jumps for the first down somebody

59:51

hits his legs and he spins like a helicopter and fumbles the ball Dwight Freeney then Scoops it and scores for

59:59

like a 73-yard scoop in score and then Peyton gets the ball last and

1:00:07

ends up getting the game-winning score and I was like I'm watching it right oh

1:00:12

my God yeah it was that's uh it's an iconic

1:00:18

game for that reason uh it's also the reason that Sage rosenfels is probably one of the best backups we've ever had

1:00:25

because anytime he came in for Matt's shop during his tenure then that man he played well there was

1:00:33

literally no drop off at all between him and Shob for a while

1:00:38

is there something about those uniforms the the Texans uniforms that make them look about 10 years older like the

1:00:44

quarterback look 10 years older to you

1:00:50

um no but he was old as hell he was like mid-30s at the time because

1:00:55

those those Texans uniforms to me make anybody look old it's this the arm

1:01:01

sleeves isn't it I think so because the same thing the Packers have the same thing I saw like

1:01:07

an edit of taysom Hill and a Packer's uniform and he looked like he was 40 years old

1:01:13

yeah well I mean it's not too far off from how old he is actually but yeah but

1:01:18

uh yeah there's something to that I think it's the arm sleeves and some of those

1:01:24

old shoulder pads and the way the helmets used to look and stuff because now that's all that's all old now so I

1:01:30

mean no wonder but um ah man ah God what a time to be alive for that

1:01:37

game yeah um let's see

1:01:43

I really don't want to double up on on that Colton Texans week 18 game I'm

1:01:49

looking at my coach oh man this one's tough I think

1:01:59

I'm not I'm not too aware of the of the AFC South head coaches I guess because I've looked at Frank Reich and I was

1:02:06

like this is I feel like he's the guy he he's in the AFC South and the NFC South he loves the

1:02:12

South divisions he played for the Panthers the NFC South is our brother they're also horrible they're they're

1:02:18

the worst division in their league as well yeah so I feel like Frank Reich jumping from the AFC South to the NFC

1:02:24

South makes him one of the ultimate South Division coaches oh absolutely

1:02:32

um and then probably Tony Dungy is in that equation

1:02:37

but he won a Super Bowl so that's the problem he was successful yeah that's

1:02:42

fair that's fair um I guess technically love you Smith fits that because is between

1:02:48

uh between Tampa and Houston he did go to Illinois but uh that was his last

1:02:54

head coaching job in the NFL trying to think who else

1:03:00

uh um Dom Capers he was a head coach for the Jaguars maybe a defensive

1:03:06

coordinator for the Jaguars one of the two and then the head first head coach for the Texans

1:03:13

um I think he was the defensive coordinator for the Packers last I saw but um

1:03:19

trying to think if there's any more like random little crossovers like that

1:03:24

I don't think so I was trying to find some coaches that that coached for like

1:03:30

were head coaches for multiple teams in the AFC South and I just couldn't couldn't swing it I don't think yeah no

1:03:36

I don't think so usually you don't uh go back to your division yeah yeah you

1:03:42

try to you're like all right I'm tired of seeing these [ __ ] faces so

1:03:48

uh all right and then I'm gonna go

1:03:53

let's see I think I'm gonna go to a team okay

1:04:00

I'm gonna go to the worst Division division winning team

1:04:06

um in AFC South history the the 2022 Jaguars they were nine and eight and they won the division that year

1:04:13

that was the worst year for the division they've ever had and this year they could be even worse yeah

1:04:20

so I'm giving my flowers to the 2022 jacks all right

1:04:26

um let's see um I'm just trying to think about what

1:04:32

I'm gonna do now in response so player uniform team

1:04:38

game uh coach end game coaching game okay you have a player a uniform and a

1:04:45

game copy okay well it's still it's snake so it's you again anyway

1:04:51

I I did too I did Frank reichen the 2022 Jags oh sick all right all right it

1:04:56

wasn't all right my brain ain't braining right now um

1:05:03

coach Jeff Fisher

1:05:11

former Titans coach um he just he exudes that that energy

1:05:16

too of like the the [ ] Mountain he he's the king of [ ] Mountain yeah yeah

1:05:23

uh if there was anyone to ever exude that that would be him um

1:05:29

okay so coach player team Let's go Team this one

1:05:37

what was it what was the year that the Colts actually won the Super Bowl against the

1:05:42

Bears was that 2006 yes I'm gonna go 2006 Colts because they

1:05:48

were they were my second option yeah I mean that was I I being a Tennessee fan

1:05:54

the way I a volunteer fan the way that I am I I've always found it hard to root

1:05:59

against Payton even though he was in the division and beating up my team literally every

1:06:06

freaking year uh there was still nothing better than watching that former ball go out there and Light It Up set records and all that

1:06:13

other stuff I mean That season was great my dad was a Bears

1:06:19

fan and uh also also hugely enamored with Payton that was one hell of a game

1:06:27

yeah um I have a player

1:06:33

you already took your player so I can actually just kind of actually did all your yours but um Mr Irrelevant I guess

1:06:38

I'm I'm between Chris Conley who's played he's caught a pass or three out of four AFC South teams or Ryan

1:06:45

Fitzpatrick because it's Ryan Fitzpatrick he was well-known starter for the Texans and Titans I think that's

1:06:51

pretty well known um Chris I don't really know much about Chris Conley so I'm going to stay away

1:06:58

from him I'm gonna go Ryan Fitzpatrick he's well loved around the league he's a journey man he started games for I think

1:07:04

over nine different teams um and I think most AFC South Players it's it's the same thing they're kind of

1:07:10

Journey men you know you have some good quarterbacks here and there but he just he he gives out that energy

1:07:16

um fits magic obviously when he was with the Bucks which our brother uh NFC South

1:07:24

he wasn't was he with anybody else no he wasn't with the Falcons out with the Saints so no he's only done three he's

1:07:30

on three South teams though um and are they any good those years

1:07:38

I don't think they were I don't think they ever really did much I mean he was still playing when Drew Brees was still

1:07:45

in the league so it's like it was the Saints division I'm talking about

1:07:50

um when when he was with the Titans or the oh in Texas well with the Texans he

1:07:56

was mid he had like I think we I think the year he was there we were like eight

1:08:01

and eight nine and seven I think that was one of the years we won the division with uh Bill O'Brien

1:08:08

and then um uh with the Titans I want to say he was

1:08:15

a little a step down from what he did with Houston

1:08:22

yeah it says uh he came in replaced Jake Locker with the Titans uh he signed a two-year deal in 2013. played 11 games

1:08:30

started and nine of them finished the season three and six as a starter he did beat the Jags and the Texans in the

1:08:37

final two games of the season um Charlie Whitehurst actually replaced him

1:08:42

on the Titans in 2014 after he was released nice and then with Houston he

1:08:49

signed a two-year deal in 2014. um he was a starter by Bill O'Brien but

1:08:55

was demoted on um oh numerous yes yes

1:09:05

he was he was demoted by and replaced by Ryan Mallett but then a few weeks later

1:09:10

malet tours Peck and Fitzpatrick was then put in um during week 13 okay he won 45-21 over

1:09:18

his former Titans through six down six touchdown passes in that game franchise

1:09:23

record 358 no picks and a 147.5 passer rating I don't know how that's not a

1:09:30

perfect passer rating you would think yeah no uh what is it 158.3 or something

1:09:36

yeah oh God uh during the second quarter of a week 13 70 to 17 to 10 loss to the

1:09:44

Colts scrambled for a two-yard gain and was tripped up ended up with a fractured left tibia ending a season he was

1:09:50

replaced by Tom Savage who also received a minor injury

1:09:56

yeah yeah nah it was there was literally it was we

1:10:02

went from that year to Brian Hoyer and Ryan Mallett and still won the division

1:10:08

I'm like in uh 15. yeah I think there was like

1:10:15

there was like three out of four years or something we won the division and two of them we won with nine and seven

1:10:21

records uh and and one of those years it was Brian Hoyer would start for a game and a

1:10:29

half and then at halftime of the second game uh Brian or uh Ryan Mallett would come

1:10:36

in and Light It Up and so it out of eventually it became a thing with like if the first half sucked

1:10:43

the second quarterback would come in at halftime and without exception

1:10:49

there was the the quarterback Off the Bench always played better it was a weird year and that's how we

1:10:55

ended up winning any of our games that's going to be a mental thing because I feel like a lot of the backup

1:11:02

running backs that come in like Deon Jackson was named starter and he was horrible but when a lot of those backups

1:11:08

come in I think they know they got nothing to lose so they're like I'm gonna play my ass off I'm gonna I'm

1:11:13

gonna do everything I can and they're really good yeah yeah and that's I guess that that is the

1:11:20

difference between a great player and an average player is when the pressure is on you can't perform versus when there's no

1:11:26

pressure yeah and uh that was that was how the Texans lived and died that's how well half of

1:11:33

our division championships have have been

1:11:40

that's why you always run into the you always run into the Patriots or the Ravens back then yeah that was a

1:11:48

couple years I think you guys ran into the Bengals right oh yeah that was uh

1:11:53

that was it was that was Tom Savage's no that was TJ Yates rookie year

1:12:00

um we drafted him out of North Carolina he uh I think Matt Schaub was the guy and he got hurt like week 11 week 10.

1:12:08

Tom Savage came in and we ended up winning like three of our last six and

1:12:13

securing our first playoff berth and we ended up that was the game in the

1:12:19

playoffs against the Bengals that JJ Watt had that pick six that's what I remember yeah I never

1:12:25

thought I'd hear that name TJ Yates ever again yeah in my life there's just it's funny

1:12:31

when you talk about like just old quarterbacks there's so many names you're like oh I remember that guy I

1:12:36

remember that guy mm-hmm was Curtis Painter the backup for Payton every year for a while

1:12:44

because that's the only reason I remember that name oh it was Jim sorgy that's who I was yes Jim sorgy

1:12:52

painter was for the last couple years I think yeah I want to say for let's see

1:13:00

I mean we could we could do a whole other episode and just name it naming names naming AFC South quarterbacks oh

1:13:08

man on this uh let's see he was with oh he's with Indy from 09 to

1:13:14

11. really oh yeah yeah yeah painter was yeah

1:13:21

that makes a first thing that comes up on his Wikipedia is his high school career wow

1:13:27

this man lit it up ah sometimes it's better than sometimes

1:13:33

it's better than lighting it up in the NFL High School yeah smaller town you're a real celebrity yeah that's true

1:13:40

oh God all right well I think we're gonna wrap it up thank you uh thanks for coming on

1:13:46

man this is awesome love having you on I'm sure we'll do it again throughout the season uh it's gonna be an interesting year

1:13:51

to say at least I 100 agree this is going to be an absolute

1:13:57

um I don't want to say barn burner because that it kind of implies that there's good things happening but

1:14:04

um it's gonna be one hell of an interesting year for the AFC South the Colts the Colts games it was fun today

1:14:11

I'll say that it was fun to watch so maybe that's the only thing I could I could hang my I could say is

1:14:18

there'll be fun games to watch because it'll be an athletic quarterback yeah yeah I mean and CJ didn't look lost out

1:14:25

there which was you know a big a lot of people's fear um but you know

1:15:31

what we just got to say thank you for football I gotta thank the NFL you guys are probably kind of corrupt you guys

1:15:37

are probably doing some weird [ __ ] behind the scenes but I'm a simple man if I see football on the screen even if

1:15:44

it's College I'm gonna sit down and watch but when it's the NFL it's that much better so thank you to the NFL

1:15:50

thank you for football I don't I have a problem with thanking Roger Goodell so I'm not going to do it

1:15:56

but um football We're Not Gonna think we're not thanking Roger Goodell we're thanking the play and the coaches for

1:16:02

being there that's true that's true all right thank you NFL players and coaches for doing what you do uh general

1:16:09
