All right, welcome back. Episode 237. I got it wrong last week. Yes, last week was 236. This is 237. Uh, welcome back. We got John and Caleb here. We're ready for a fiery episode. Um, we got some baseball debates. Um, I don't know what we're going to be debating, but I know these two will just hate each other. Um, so we'll be debate baseball to do that. Yeah, I can just hate on Caleb. Yeah, exactly. Um, we have uh some NFL training camp fights. It's that time of the year where this is like the the top news in the NFL SK, you know, in the NFL docket um is fights. Um, and we have a top five baseball movie snake draft at the very end of the show. So, check that out. You can go vote on that at chaotically intolerant.com. [music] right, gentlemen. So, we're going to start out. Um, Caleb, we were talking about this a little bit yesterday in in the group chat. Tire season 3 is out. Um, where first off, and and this is spoiler warning for anyone who hasn't seen it. Caleb, have you seen the final episode yet? I have not yet. We didn't finish it. All right. We won't talk about the final episode. That's we don't want to spoil it anyways that I have on this. But um so far, where is this ranking in your list of of seasons for tires? This is my favorite tire season by far. I I love the cast that they brought in. Dan Soder is one of my favorite comedians right now in the game. I love they kept Joe Dun and uh now I'm blanking on his name. Um all of them are I think it's so funny. Yeah, there it's I I enjoyed the season. It feels like there's more of a plot than the first two seasons. The first two seasons feels like a Family Guy type of thing with no like real plot line you can just throw on in the background, but uh this season you can you actually have to pay attention and I kind of I kind of like that about the show this this season. Yeah, definitely. Uh John, you say it you just couldn't get into it. What's wrong with you? What's wrong with me? Yeah. Are you mentally deranged? Are we talking about tires or is like a general thing? Well, just general tire season. Um, I don't know. I'm not like when I watch Shane Gillis's standup, I love the kind of like frat humor stuff. I don't think I guess I got five episodes into it and I just never like I was like, "Okay, this is funny, but it's not something I'm going to like make a a night around watching." Um, would I watch the rest of it? Sure. Should I watch the rest of it? If we're doing a topic on it, it's it's good enough to watch. I mean, this this won't be a recurring topic by any means. This is just an opening show topic to loosen the podcast. Um, when does it start like picking up really getting funny? Uh, I don't know. I I think it just I think that kind of depends. I It took me I watched like the first three to four episodes and I was like, "This is stupid." And I put it down and then I went back to it like a month later after seeing clips of tires. I was like, "Oh, this is really funny." The best thing that they did is they released all the episodes at the same time. They didn't do the week to week to week. I just I don't like that. I I'm sick. I just want I want to be able to choose when I watch my episodes. Yeah. I just I don't know. I had at that time I had Ted Lasso. Of course, me and my wife watch Master Chef. So, I feel like there's a lot going on. If she doesn't love it, then we're not going to watch more than four episodes of it. though. Also, Shane Gillis just had like he sold out, I think, Lincoln Financial Field uh this weekend and he had like a crazy just like a crazy fireworks display. Apparently, he made no money. He said he made no money on it. Um good. I didn't even watch. Yeah, I just think it's funny. He's like, I'm just going to do this to do this. I think that's hilarious. I think when you get to a certain point of your like career and you can do ridiculous stuff just because you can. That's the that would be the best part of my career. You know what I mean? I think you should do it. I think there are certain people who don't do that [ ] Like they have the ability to do ridiculous things and they're just like I want to make more money and it's like yeah but now he's boring. He's an Eagles fan so that's definitely a bucket list kind of thing. I don't think he really cared if there was any money made. Yeah. If we could record a podcast at Fenway Park, like live at Fenway Park on the pay to do it. I would too. I would too. Absolutely. I would do I would do every I would do it up. I would bring out Ted Williams's severed head onto the field with me. That's my It's in good It's in good shape, by the way. It's frozen. So, he would be right here. He'd be right here. I'd put my head I'd rub his head. Would you thought or would you keep it frozen? I thought hopefully he would be alive. [ ] gross. No, you keep it frozen. He's going to be the future of the Red Sox once again. I know. I hope he would be alive. He should still be alive. Does he have I want our show to have him reaming John Henry for all of the decisions that he's made in the last five to six years. Are there any men in the Ted Williams lineage that played baseball? Mike Piaza. Contrary to my my last name, I am not a part of that lineage. No, you're not. He's also not a part of the Caleb Williams lineage. He's not a part of his own lineage. As alike as we look, as a like as we look, I'm not related to him, though. So, his son did play in 2002 with a minor league affiliate of the Boston Red Sox. Uh having no prior professional baseball experience. How old was he when he played? 33. And then he died at 35. Did he die at 35 from leukemia? Oh jeez. So right right after he played with the red. So what that says if maybe Ted Williams baseball genes aren't as strong as you think. So maybe if we clone Ted Williams, he might not be that good at baseball. There's no guarantee that a clone has the same skills. Caleb, what's your take on that? I mean, I've I've played with enough of uh lineage guys from major league players to know that what do you feel? What is your what is your feeling on eugenics? I have no idea. That's really the question that John is asking. Yeah. What's your take on what's your take on selective breeding for sports?
I got nothing for it. You you wish you wish your parents would have done that so you would have had a better arm. I mean, if my dad was Randy Johnson, that'd be pretty cool. But I do like 98 instead of like 93. There's some pretty unspeakable things I'd do to throw that ario. [laughter] Can you would you would you mind saying them here on the podcast live on a hot mic? Live. I don't think we're allowed to post any of the clips of it, [laughter] but you're okay if it goes on YouTube just at the top of the show in the first seven minutes of the show. Yeah. Yeah, of course. Throw it on the on the uh on the front page. Well, I'm going to give you an outright here, Caleb. That's a good spot to move on. We've gone off our next topic. We're talking baseball. It was a crazy week of of baseball. Um, we had a 22 to nothing game, getting into the football spirit. Um, the Packers beat the Seahawks 22 to nothing. Um, the Orioles have now fallen out of a playoff spot after they became the fourth AL East team to be in a playoff spot. So, boys, what's going on? Where where are we at right now in with with Major League B with this AO playoff picture specifically? Outside of like the bottom three teams, literally anybody could get I would go all the way down to Seattle. I think there's only three teams in the American League that don't have like a legitimate chance to make the postseason. Royals. The Royals, the Athletics, and the uh Angels. Other than that, anybody could get in because it goes from Seattle three games out of the wild card to Kansas City 9 and a half games, then 12 and 13. So, by the end of this week, Seattle could conceivably be back in the playoffs, which is kind of how bad the American League is this year outside of the top few teams. Yeah. I can't remember the last time we've seen a playoff race like this, a wild card race like this, where we've got six teams outside of a playoff spot that are within three games. Most of them are within a game or a game and a half. And I mean, even as a Red Sox fan, I don't feel fully safe. We have a five and a half game lead, but there's so many teams that are on this fringe and it takes one or two of them getting hot and everything just goes crazy. So, it's there's still a lot of baseball to be played, but it's I I feel like we're going to see that third wild card spot flip-flop a lot between these teams. Like Toronto, 10 games ago, I had Toronto dead at the trade deadline. I said they're dead. they don't have a shot and now they're a half game out of the wild card after a seven and three stretch. So any of these teams you go on a seven and three you're in. You go on a three and seven right now like Seattle just did you could be out of it. So how much does this next few weeks matter? I think more than any like late August stretch in recent memory for a lot of teams. And if you look at the teams that are are lined up behind the Twins for that third spot, you can see any of those teams going on a run just because of of what they've got in their in their organization. You know, Mariners have their pitching staff. They can ride their pitching staff. They have it hasn't it hasn't helped them lately, but they can always go on a run. The Tigers have been hot lately. They kind of cooled off a little bit, but they went on a run there the last couple weeks. Orioles have the offense. The Guardians go on a It feels like they go on a 20 and five run every single year around this time. So, you can't count them out. Blue Jays, it feels like Vlatt's a sweep sleeping giant ready to blow up. And then I I'm not counting the Blue Jays out. And the Rangers, they can swing it, too. So, I [snorts] don't feel comfortable with any of these teams being this close right now. Now, before Alex, I'm sure you are going to talk next because um I would say I think Baltimore and Detroit don't have a shot. I think Baltimore's little pop is a result of a bunch of dudes in a clubhouse saying, "Oh, they were we were sellers and everyone's counting us out. Let's show them who we are." And you go on a little bit of a run, but you just simply don't have the firepower. Same with Detroit. I don't think they have the firepower on the pitching side of things to hang through September. Um I think Toronto, Cleveland, Seattle outside of the wild card are legitimate. Uh and then of course all the teams that are currently in the playoffs I think are legitimate. Um I'm looking at at Baltimore right now. They have the Yankees tonight and tomorrow and then they get the Rays. But after that you get St. Louis, where's St. Louis? Uh, they're right on the fringe there. And then the A's and the Rockies, they they can pick up six games right there. Um, I mean, can they set themselves up at least cuz that that's going to get you to September. That's going to get you to September 3rd versus Boston in Baltimore. I will be in the house on September 3rd with my dog. That is bark at the park night. So, I will be there with the dog. Um, she's going to have a Red Sox bandana. I'm debating getting her a jersey, too. I might just say, "Fuck it." She already has a Colts jersey. Um, but then it's a tough stretch in September, but who knows what happens in September. So, I guess is is there a case is there a case there or does that firepower just kind of die out in September? If they could I mean, if they could hold with the Yankees and the Rays and you give yourself that feeling like, oh, we can play with these guys. Um, I think St. Louis is a much better team. Um, they took three or four against the Rays. The question is, can they go could the Orioles go 500 against the Rays Yankees in St. Louis? 500 or a game or so around that so that they can pick up six games against the Rockies and A's. If you lose seven of nine in those first three series, then you're pretty much done. Cuz then after that, they go Boston, Cleveland, Toronto, and they get the Mets. The Mets three easy wins. Milwaukee the worst baseball team I've ever seen. Yeah. Milwaukee, Toronto, and then New York to end the year. All of these teams except for New York and Milwauke I don't I'm not really gonna talk about Milwaukee. I mean, Milwaukee is good, but they're not in the American League wild card race. You can get games on all of those on all of those teams. So, um I think it's a very this is very realistic for this Orioles team. It sets up really well and this just all year it's felt like they've been right there, but they just can't get over the hump. And I guess this September is going to be the real test, I would say. I'll also be in the house on Friday night. I'm going to be squirted by Todd Gurley. Um, I will be Todd Gurley will be getting me very wet in the outfield um on Friday night. So excited for that. Would you like to elaborate on that? Just not at all. Not at all. Not at all. We will be talking more about the squirting of of Todd. This is supposed to be the Maryland spotlight, but I I guess we're kind of taking talk about Baltimore. Well, the the the Orioles were supposed to be the Maryland spotlight a later segment. So, you [ ] idiot. You want to talk about the Ravens? You [ ] idiot. No, I don't want to talk about the Ravens. Uh, I want I want John to give me a case against the Red Sox. Why are the Red Sox Why are the Red Sox not going to win a playoff series? And Caleb, I want you to to give it back to them. Well, how does it line up right now? They would get same thing as last year. They would get New York. Um, that's why because they're going to get New York and I think New York's a better team. I mean, I don't know what you want me to say. I mean, if they beat New York, then what? They're going to get the Rays and get it handed to him because the Rays are a much better team than the Red Sox. And it does before Caleb says anything. Um, I think it comes down to the return of Roman Anthony legitimately because Adley looks like dog [ ] right now. So, that's not a home run yesterday. Excuse me. What is [ ] serious? Three and 35 as a Red Sox. What is four? Four hits. He's coming back from an injury. He's coming back from an injury. He's coming back from an injury for three. Are we going to judge his year based on one week? They rushed him back. [laughter]
No, but for real, they they had him play two two [ ] rehab games and then they expect him to have his timing down after not playing for two months. And now, yeah, but he's always not playing for two months. When's the last time Adley Rushman played a full season? 22 23. Yeah. Uh, and it's 26. So, back to my point. Um, yeah, but he had to play in Baltimore. Did you ever did you ever take that into account that he had to play in Baltimore? No, I didn't. Because if you're a quality athlete, you play where Bobby Wood Jr. plays in Kansas City. Okay. and he's put up a 9.7 war season. I don't want to hear it. Um if and and may I speak permission? Preferably not. Um if Roman Anthony comes back and he is the major boost that you guys are hoping he will be, then they're in a really good spot. If Crochet comes back and he's back to being a legitimate ace, then they're in a really [ ] good spot because I trust Sunny Gray, I trust Bennett, I trust Abrau, Son Raphaela. But if you're going to add multiple guys back into the mix, um, and they don't perform like the superstars are supposed to be, then that's a massive letdown for the organization because even though all these dudes in the Red Sox clubhouse say, "Oh, well, we're professional. Doesn't matter who we have on the field. or a bunch of pro baseball players on that stretch, you know, in the back of their minds, they're saying, "Can we keep in it in this race? Can we get back in the race and stay in it long enough for Crochet and Roman Anthony to come back?" And if they can't, then you're relying on a bunch of dudes who are relying on those dudes to come back for. That's my take. Questioning Roman Anony's readiness when he hit an actual nuclear bomb. In what? In what level? Last night. In what level? I don't care. He hit a [ ] nuclear bomb. I don't care what level. Okay. He did it in the World Baseball Classic, too. Does that give the Red Sox any any runs? How many runs do the Red Sox get in a series against the Yankees for a nuclear bomb, as you say, that Roman Anthony hit in the minor leagues yesterday? Is does that count as two runs? How many at bats would Roman Anthony have in that series? Does I'm talking about the home run he hit in the minor. No, I'm saying I'm asking how many how many at bats would Roman Anthony have in that series? What would you estimate? 12. 12 runs. 12. Oh, it's worth 12 run. Okay. 12 runs start this year. That home run that home run is worth 12 12 runs. Yeah, but like 12 run home run. Let's just be real realistic about it. Uh, when's the last time he played a major league baseball game, Caleb? May. It was early May. I think May 8th. And when's he going to be back? When is he projected to be back? Next week. Okay. So, the end of August. So, he's got a month to get into playoff mode, to get back from injury into regular season mode, and then flip the switch into playoff. So, you say we're going to lose to the Yankees when Judge, Stanton, and Bellinger are all going to also have maybe a month, month and a half. Well, one of those is is Aaron Judge. How do we know he's going to be Aaron Judge when he comes back? This is an injury that's kept him out for a while. Um, it's the might be good. If the Red Sox have Crochet healthy, I like the Red Sox pitching better than the Yankees. If Crochet is not Crochet, then I like the Yankees rotation. Crochet they already said, will be two to three innings if he comes back this year. Yankees have a significant better pitching stat. That's you get a lot. So you get you get a mid- reliever. No, that's reliever in the playoffs. No, that's a nice opener for Beao, who's been unreal. Beo has been unreal out of the bullpen. Crochet starting for two, three innings, give Beao six, let Chapman or or Miller or Whitlock finish it out in the ninth. I'm completely fine with that. I don't think it'll get to that in a three-game series, but in in a in the ALDS, ALCS, however far we take it, I I really like that setup between those two guys. You're you're giving [ ] to Roman for not playing. LeBron's not going to play LeBron's going to play 25% of the regular season this year. Are you you're you're not holding LeBron and Roman Anthony to the same standard because every single person
[laughter] No. Are you holding are you holding [ ] I don't know uh Stevie Wonder and a homeless guy to the same standards in a piano playing contest? Where did LeBron James come from? That threw me off. I don't know where we're going here. You were showing me LeBron at the beginning of the show. So, how about this? You were glazing LeBron before we started recording, before Caleb have quadruple bypass. You're the best heart surgeon in the history of mankind is a getting a little older and your alternative is a kid who like watched Grey's Anatomy a few episodes. Who are you taking to do your open heart surgery? That's a real question we have to ask. We're not We're not talking about surgery. Well, my open heart surgeon doesn't have to defend Jason Tatum. Jason Tatum's a [ ] [ ] Jaylen. Oh, by the way, your best player plays for LeBron now. So, there's that. Stevens. Brad Stevens. Brad Stevens is still with the Celtics. It's all I know. Anyway, um as long as we have Brad Stevens, I'm I'm fully confident. I'll take it that I made a lot of good points cuz all you did and I expect better from you, Alex. I expect [ ] from Caleb. Um I'm gonna give I'm gonna give a point to Caleb. A point A point to me and a point to LeBron. I'll take it. I will volunteer all of my points to LeBron. You You You don't have any points to volunteer to LeBron when I get them. I want him to go to LeBron, but you don't have any. Not yet. Um Okay. Uh what about the Cubs? What about him? Let's Let's talk a little bit about the Chicago Cubs. Um PCA MVP. Is this guy Is this guy like just the best baseball player on the planet now? Right now? Yes. Right now? Yeah. Are we going to see this in the playoffs? We don't know yet because he [ ] fell asleep at the wheel the second half of last season and kind of cost them a playoff spot. So, it's [ ] like super interesting how does PCA perform in the playoffs because last year post Allstar break lights got a little bit too bright for him. So, the lights aren't any brighter than like Wrigley in the playoffs. Especially if [clears throat] they pull [ ] the Dodgers or Atlanta or if St. Louis sneaks in and they get St. Louis, a rivalry game in the postseason. It feels like, all right, let me [ ] speak, please. Uh, it feels like PCA's kind of kind of turned a corner like mentally this year with his maturity. It feels like he is showing up when the moment is biggest. I mean, it's regular season games, so you can only go so far with that. But, uh, that walk-off home run, was it? No, two nights ago. Two nights ago. I mean, he he put the team on his shoulders that game. It it it feels like this is a different PCA than even the first half PC ever got this year. It feels like he's got that cold mentality. This is like the FU to everybody. The the home run against the Cardinals were chanting overrated. Like, he he feels like he's built for a big moment. And I I think if the Cubs make a significant playoff run that he will be a big part of it. Hot take. You know what my favorite thing about the Cubs right now is? Earlier in the season, we were just talking about this before we started recording. They were outstanding at home. They were not outstanding on the road. Their home and away record right now is virtually identical. 38 and 27 at home, 36 and 27 away. So they've turned that around. Um, Seya Suzuki looks better. And I'm a big Sea Suzuki guy. They went out at the trade deadline and only focused on their needs. They didn't say, "Okay, we could use, you know, another bat." No, they have so many pitchers on the injured list right now. They went out and just loaded up on pitchers, guys that can get them over the hump until they get some of their talent back. And I love that. I love teams where everyone says, "Oh, you need to make a big splash." and they say, "How about we just address our holes and move ahead?" And my question, by the way, is why do people hate PCA so much? Like people really don't like PCA. And I don't get it. Not just talking about that players. He's one of my favorite kind of ginger. Is it because he dyes his hair? Like is it legitimately because he dyes his hair? Is it the same thing with like Caleb Williams, the football guy, painting his nails and people are like, "You can't do that." And I feel like when he started dying his hair, that's when people are like, "I [ ] hate PCA." It's weird. Weird. Who Who feels worse about their team right now? Or who just feels worse in general? John about the Royals or Frank Fleming about the Mets and the fact that they traded PCA and [ ] in 2021 he said it's going to be one of the worst trades of all time and someone said I don't know why you're acting like Pete Crow Armstrong is the next Ronald Akuna or Mike Trout and Frank said he is. That's how this always works. He literally is. And Frank was right. Literally right. Nobody Nobody feels worse about their team than the Mets right now. That's the worst. It's literally the worst situation I think I've ever seen in sports outside of like every year of the Cleveland Browns surrounding the Baker Mayfield year. Their team, their roster is as bad as the Browns right now because they're saddled on a [ ] sodo contract who refuses to play with another star player. So Juan Sodto is Deshun Watson. Yeah. Without the rape. Want it on the record. But what he's doing to the New York Mets is almost as bad. Is it the worst contract ever? No. Kyle Tucker, come on. I mean, he doesn't Kyle Tucker doesn't have the long enough. Have we had enough time? And the Dodgers are still two games out of first, like overall first place in the National League. So, has been horrible this year. It is Deshun Watson or Sodto in the worst contract of all time. An [ ] I mean, Sodto is an [ ] He didn't Wait, so you're saying Deshun Watson is not an [ ] You Deshawn Watson is a different kind of [ ] Deshawn Watson. Do I support him as a player? No. Do I support him as a as a client if I ran a massage parlor? Certainly. However, he spent a lot of money there. Um, cut it out. Um, no, but the contract says bad. Nobody would say that. Yes, you did. You had it on the Q card. I did not make you say that the script. Um, no. Sodto is the worst contract ever because nobody expected the Browns to win a Super Bowl with Deshaawn Watson. Raise your hand if you thought the Browns would have success with Deshun Watson. Kevin Cosner did. Kevin Coers. Yeah. In draft day. Yeah. No, he passed on the quarterback. Um, who thought the Mets would probably be pretty good with Sodto? I think everyone did. I mean, I thought he would be So, that's what makes it worse. the ex I didn't think it'd be this let down. No, but I I don't think it's not Sodto's fault fully. I mean, he's not exactly great in the clubhouse from what the reports have been, but he hasn't had under a 900 OPS since he's been in New York. It's not like he's the one you need more than one superstar to to you need more than one star player to win the major leagues. And if Sodto refuses to play with other superstars because he thinks it's his show, then that's a big issue for a franchise. Who's gonna come in and play with Sodto? When Lindor says, "Get me the [ ] out of here." Who's gonna sign up to play with Sodto? Someone who wants a whole lot of money and doesn't care about that stuff. Doesn't care about winning. Exactly. Which probably probably doesn't factor into the winning, but I I I don't see it as being Sodto's fault. I don't think it's a great contract. I wouldn't have been happy if the Red Sox gave Wanoto that kind of contract, but I I don't think he's the the problem child here. Juan Sodto with the New York Mets, 244 games, 8.8 war. Where are we looking here? Uh 64 home runs, 270 batting average, 400 on base percentage, 530 slug, 45. A phenomenal player. Yes. He's pure talent among like the best players we've seen in my lifetime. Pure talent in my lifetime a little longer than you guys'. Um but there's a lot of great players who never win because the MVP race last year for what? Where's the value? They were awful. I'm just saying. I'm just saying. Go back to go back to teams records 2025 season. I'm not I don't have a vote. You think I have a vote? Damn near a 4040 year last year. I you can't you can't say he was detrimental to the team. Silver slugger last year. Actually, that was the second year in a row he was third in MVP voting. Fun fact, he'll never win one. Not with show. No. All right, that's a good place to uh wrap up this segment. Let's move to the next one. I'm out of the loop. Try not to throw it to me. Well, we're going to Caleb for the NFL topic. No, I'm just kidding. Um, football is back. Uh, well, I said that last week. It's been back. Um, but we have training camp fights. That's that's usually like the main news. I I love the preseason when we get to this point because you really one, you don't want to hear any news about your team because usually it's bad. It's like this guy [ ] tore his Achilles on a walkthrough. Um, there's a fight which uh someone someone on ESPN I think Lewis Riddick was like bitching about training camp fights saying it's unprofessional. What are we doing here? This is football. That's that's the point. You're supposed to hit each other and you're supposed to get you're supposed to get a little angry. That gets you juiced up. Am I wrong? It's the point. And that's isn't that the point of like the the shared training camps where like two NFL teams train together? Isn't the point to get fight clips for like Twitter? You would think so. Or do they actually play football? I love I love the dichotomy of team like if you're a good team and you get into a fight, everyone's like, "Oh yeah, they're they're like they're [ ] ready to go. They're getting fired up." If you're a bad team, they're like that coach needs to get on that [ ] That's unacceptable. They could have the exact same type of fight. What like uh the the uh Saints and the Cowboys fought today. Um, son of WWE Hall of Famer Scott Steiner bodys slammed a Cowboys player today in the middle of a fight, which is [ ] sick. That's awesome. Just like his old man. The 49ers and Titans had four fights in 10 minutes last week, which is Now, is it four separate fights or is it a continuation of a fight? I think it was I think it was like break up a fight, another fight, break that up, another fight, break that up. I love it. I think that's what it was. The Bucks and Jets had a fight. Maybe the saddest. That's anytime the Jets get into a fight, it's sad cuz there's just never there's never like a positive reason for the Jets to be in a fight. Unless you're defending Mark Sanchez's honor after the butt fumble. Or have the Jets Have the Jets done anything since the butt fumble? They haven't won a playoff game since that year, I think. In 50 years, are we going to be talking about the curse of the Mark Sanchez butt fumble? Is that going to be like as big of a deal as the curse of the Bambino? Do you remember when it was the not top play on ESPN for like six months straight and they had to retire it? They had to retire a not top 10 play because it was that bad? I think that's that might have been when ESPN went a little too far. I'm sure with recent events with the integrity of the not top play the integrity of the not top. Well, ESPN doesn't have any integrity because they didn't cover [ ] Rini and and Vrabel. Um Caleb, you didn't get to hear you didn't get to hear my hot take last week about how coaches shouldn't coaches should have, you know, sexual congress with reporters that are covering them. There was no proof of penetration. I didn't inhale. Is that like Do you think they should have been at a resort together while they were if they were talking strategy? Morally, probably not. I mean, why would a reporter be there? Because she's got she's got the the scoop. She's got the poop on the other teams. Exactly. That is incredibly immoral. Well, I mean, did the Patriots not film other teams practices? Do we know they were Okay, Caleb, was Was he winning football games this year? Yeah, he won games. You're allowed to have sex with reporters that aren't your wife if you're winning football games. Once again, if you went six and 11, is he fired, Caleb? As as the official Patriots representative of this podcast, is he fired? If if they go six and 11 and they can find a reason to. Yeah, that they find that reason to probably. Would they go two coach? Would Robert Craft go three coaches in three seasons? Actually, it' be four because if you count Bellich, one season, Mayo, Vrabel, and then your next head coach, Mike McCarthy. Theoretically, I mean, I guess I kind of McCarthy, I'm [laughter] I'm not as as tapped in on on how much information Vable's gotten from Rousini and in their affair, whatever you call it. But if if there is some kind they had an affair, it's it's a it's an affair. If there is some kind of proof of of insider trading bull crap, then yeah, get him out. If there's not, do you call Tom Brady? He's just a bad person. Do you call Tom Brady? No. To fix the marriage. Brady does not. No. No. No. No. No. No. To fix the marriage. Do you call Tom Brady to fix the marriage? The Patriot way. [ ] no. I I think Brady is the last person I call if I want to save my marriage. Yeah, I'm talking about the coaching, Alex. Why would Brady not be a good coach? Because he hates the Patriots now. Because he owns the Raiders. Yeah, but sell your [ ] stake of the Raiders and be a head coach. He's not going to do that. I [clears throat] don't think he would do that. That would be financial for not for Robert Craft. He's not doing that now. That makes sense. What if Robert Robert Craft died? Then Jonathan Craft probably takes over. And I don't think Brady feels too great about him either. Transfer ownership to Tom Brady. He could afford it. Tom Brady hates the Patriots. He wouldn't hate the Patriots if he owned them. I He wouldn't own them because he hates them. Why wouldn't you want to buy the team you hate and fix it and put statues yourself up everywhere and name the stadium after yourself and take all the way take down all the Robert Craft stuff. take down all the Robert Craft stuff everywhere in the offices. Put yourself up. That's the best absolute best like comeback of all time. He He just feels too much like they slided him and he doesn't feel as loved as he should be. Even though he is I don't know the whole thing in 2021 or 2020 whenever it was with Craft and Bellich. I think that just left the worst taste in his mouth. I don't see him coming back. He wouldn't be Jackie He wouldn't be the next Jackie Moon. The NFL is Jackie Moon. It took them till this year to get Brady on the broadcast for Page Reed's game. He wouldn't he wouldn't take a side in the Super Bowl, which I I guarantee you if you pull most uh legendary quarterbacks for a franchise, if their franchise is in the Super Bowl, they're taking their their team that they won six. Did Montana Did Montana root for Kansas City or San Francisco? San Francisco. San Franciscoie. He's Did he say Did he say Did he say that? I didn't say it, but that that's obvious. Yeah, but he was in Kansas City at the end of his career. That was he he wanted to be in Kansas City. He didn't want to be in San Francisco. If the Super Bowl this year was somehow forced to go there, if the Super Bowl somehow this year was Bucks Patriots, Brady would pick the Bucks. I genuinely feel like it feels like he resonates more with Tampa than he does with New England at this point. which I don't care. I don't The Patriots fans don't owe him [ ] but that sucks. I'm looking up who Montana picked and that was talking NFL with chaotically intolerant. Let's move on to the next segment. [music]
All right, welcome back to the show that is not inspired by PTI. I just want to remind the audience that we had this idea first and refused to act on it. Yeah. Like 2016. Yeah. When Harambe died. Uh Caleb, what is your opinion? What opinion should we excuse? All right. Um, you're making me go first. That's crazy. Um, [laughter] the MLB needs another big knuckle baller. I'm not talking about Matt Wall some spot starts. Ryan. Yeah. I'm talking about Wakefield, Dicki, Phil Nephro, Charlie Huff. We need one more Doug knuckle baller. I'm not talking about a Sai Young guy. I need a guy who will give me 200 innings and will fit in the three four slot of a rotation for maybe a contending team. I know who the guy is. What do we got? Paul's lost all his velocity. Teach him how to throw a [ ] knuckle ball. I mean, he's learned every other pitch under the sun the last couple years. You can't throw above 96 miles an hour. Yeah, he hit 97 today. Impressive. You got to fix that. See more of the knuckle ball knuckle ball uh frequency. I want to see. I think it's the fullback. I feel like it's the fullback equivalent. It's fading. It was something that was super cool in the early 2000, but the fullback's coming back. The fullback is coming back big time as teams run the ball more and as same concept as guys figure out how to hit 98 to 100 because they see it so often. Now you got to combat that. Bring in a knuckle baller. Well, I think also everybody how to throw one. I think teams are remembering big fat guy, make him run into little guys, big fat guy wins. I [snorts] want to see more of those those close-up slow motion uh camera angles of the knuckle ball. Yeah, we have great camera technology. This is the prime time to to get that to get. By the way, I waited on RA Dicki at one point. Served him his dinner. He's the most [ ] knuckle baller knuckle baller of all time. I know they say knuckle ballers are a little bit strange. R Dick is kind of a strange guy, but in like the best possible way. He's awesome. He's been in a couple Zoom meetings with me and and I saw him out at one of our practices in college. He's definitely a knuckle baller like personality. He's But he didn't come up as a knuckle baller. Am I right? No, he came off as a top prospect throwing like 97. He was I think he was a first round pick for the Rangers. Hold on. Top prospect throwing gas learns a knuckle ball. Paul Skins. Sounds like Paul Ske. Sounds a lot like Paul SK. Paul SK got exposed for being fat. I feel like a lot of knuckle ballers are usually heavier guys. It's all lining up. He's got the body style for a knuckle baller. Okay. My take, let's get serious. My Oh, we don't do takes. We do opinions. My my opinion is that the MLB does not miss a single regular season game due to the lockout. And I think right now both the players association and the owners would say absolutely we're going to miss a game or two. I think
I think it can happen. It's posturing. It's I think you need you can't the Dodgers just can't win. But both sides need as much leverage as possible. And the leverage they have right now is we're going to miss a bunch of games. It's the other guy's fault. The closer we get to the regular season, of course, fans. I think fans are going to be on the side of the players. [ ] the owners. They're all billionaires. They can afford it. The closer it gets, I'm going to be on whoever 5050. By the time we get close, I'm on whichever side is going to give us baseball games. And I think once one side or another loses a great deal of support, then they'll hammer it out. I don't think they're as far apart as they're saying they are. Players don't want a salary cap. Owners say there must be a salary cap. Everything else they'll be able to meet in the middle. Um higher pay for minor leaguers, less options. Um more guarantees for guys who are on the roster x amount of games in terms of more steroids. More yes, we need it. Uh, even though I mean Fernando Tatis tried to sort of, you know, slow roll that back and it didn't go over well. Um, I think he was trying to get that started. Didn't happen. Unless it really was ringing cream. Um, but I think what you need to do, he does live in San Diego. People walk around barefoot all the time there. That would make sense. I know. I've never had ringorm. I walk around barefoot a lot. I think the first thing the owners need to do is agree to more revenue sharing across the league, including on local networks. LA's local network having to share a little bit with the small markets. You get that done, owners of all markets can afford to pay more. Therefore, the salary cap might not be that big of a need. If you give the concessions on the major league service time and things like that, I think the players would accept a salary floor and I think they would accept max contracts. In which case, I mean, let the Dodgers sign a bunch of max contracts. Um, but at least it does add a little bit more of a competitive nature to signings, especially for smaller market teams if you get them the benefit of allowing a six-year deal instead of a 5year deal like the NBA. And I think it gets worked out by the beginning of March. In my opinion, Kale, I I think we're missing games next year. I mean, I I would prefer if they didn't, obviously, but it seems like both sides are kind of very heavily set on what they believe in in terms of the salary cap. I don't I I don't know enough about the inside conversations to I think they miss a month. That's kind of the estimation is a month or two is a month or two, but um I saw Jeff Patterson saying there's a chance maybe there's no games played like these two sides. It would crush it. It would ruin the That's a loss for everyone. It's not just the owners. I think I think they need Yeah, they need to [ ] pull their pants down, just show each other their small dicks and just say we both suck. Let's just figure this the [ ] out and let's play some baseball. They're just both being stubborn on both sides. I from what I've read, it does not seem like either side is really budging. Well, we haven't even gotten to crunch time yet. Once we get to December, then sides will start to budge because the wealthiest players are We'll be fine. They'll be fine. It's when your middle of the road guys start going to the union and saying, "Let's figure this out." Cuz they're all part of the union. and they should all get an equal say. And if you have 80% of the league saying, "I can't afford to miss a whole year of pay like Otani and Harper and Judge and those guys can," then the pressure gets on. And if you're one of the representatives from the player association and you're one of the rich guys, do you want to be the guy that caused a lot of your young teammates to miss paychecks? Even if you can convince them that it's for the it's for the best in the future, guys want to get paid. All right. All right. My take. Um, I I think all sports teams should be publicly owned like the Packers and I think every owner, every it should be like a stock and you should be paid dividends at the end of the year. I think having having a team that has a city on it, you are representing the city or representing the people of that city or that state. I think they should essentially I mean these [ ] teams they use publicly funded stadiums anyways. It's it's the people's stuff anyways. And and I think plenty of fans are sick of their owners. I think you look at even really good teams who are really successful and they're like, "Yeah, [ ] the owner. Who gives a [ ] about the owner?" What fan base loves their owner? Like truly loves their owner? They make enough money. the NFL in the late 90s, early 2000s with Steinbrunner. Maybe the Yankees in the late 90s, early 2000s with Steinbrunner. Yankees fans, they love Steinbrunner. They could vote him in and and he's the he's the CEO. Vote him just like a company. If you take public funding, then the city gets a share of your team. You can buy it back, but until you've repaid the public funds that you've received, 40% of the team becomes publicly owned. No, because then that just goes to the [ ] city council or or whoever, and they all suck. I don't want to give it to the politicians. I want to give it to individual people. Yeah. Actual fans who actually care cuz like make them sell 40% of the team. If if you're getting $2 billion and your team's worth5 billion dollars, make them sell 40% of the team to raise the funds. People do laugh, but there is no sports without fans without fans going to spend money and go to games and [ ] like that. So, it's just they already are. You should just I think fans should be rewarded for it. Like you have fans like the Royals who sit for 30 years and don't win a World Series. They are loyal fans for 30 years and then they finally win in 2015. Granted, it was like the cheapest World Series of all time, but it was a World Series. That's [ ] [ ] That was legitimately one of the best That's the best small market team we've seen in our lifetimes. We were [ ] loaded and we made every right move that season. So, [ ] pound sand. Caleb, I don't know. I that one kind of throws me off because a a team like the Rays, like a smaller fan base clearly don't show up to the games regardless if it's going to be in Tampa or St. Pete, whatever. But then you got a cheap stock price. Lower income people can afford to get in there. I'd buy a piece of the raise if it was available. Certificate, just a certificate right here. Like one 50th of 1% owner of the raise. I mean, the Packers is like pretty ceremonial. Like, you you don't really like do anything if you're a Packers owner. I think that you should get a dividend. Give them a dividend. Few tickets a year. I want I want my dividend to be one text from Bobby Wood Jr. like, "Hey, man. Have a good day." I want my dividend to be one trillion dollar. One tr I want show's contract. Okay, Elon. All right. And we're going to move on to our final topic. I didn't want Caleb right behind me because I know Alex with his number one pick is going to take like Mickey Mouse plays baseball. Um similar to his Harold Airbud Air Bud the uh the Kansas City Royal story. Great. Uh the 2015 movie by Mickey Mouse plays baseball. The 2015 Kansas City Royal story. Phenomenal. Well, [ ] Mickey Mouse, I guess, is Lorenzo Kane in that case, but greatest center fielder of all time. Anyways, Caleb, your first pick. You are on the clock. You are on the clock. I'm torn between a fantastic movie that I do actually religiously watch and just an absolute classic. But I think I gotta go with the classic 11- one because this is there's no way you can criticize this for going 1-1. I'm going to go with the Sandlot. Um, not much you can say. Childhood movie growing up. I mocked this. One of the greatest athletes we've ever seen. I had Sandlot going in the in the middle of the second or third round to be honest. You mock? Yeah, I mocked. I mocked. Yeah. No. Sandlots Sandlot's top three. It's a It's a classic. We all grew up. Everyone who has ever associated themselves with baseball in their life. Everyone knows the beast. I'll take Field of Dreams. Everyone knows. Everyone knows Benny the Jet. I own Field of Dreams before before something happens and I lose it. Give me Field of Dreams. Yeah, I had that in the middle of the sucking. That's why Alex is going to take like Chasing 3000 with Bernie Mack. I do love that movie. That movie is like That movie is not bad whatsoever. I bet you do. I bet it's a terrible movie. Terrible movie. I mean, it's like baseball-wise, it's not great, but it's an enjoyable movie. You're telling You're telling me Bernie M? You're telling me a Bernie Mack movie is not terrible movie. He's stalling. He's stalling. I'm going The Natural. Robert Redford. Good. Okay. Can't criticize that one. I have one criticism of that movie, but I'm actually not going to say it because it's definitely not appropriate for recording. I'll tell I'll tell you guys after this. I had to I had to read that book in college. It's actually good book. And then I'm gonna like completely completely [ ] John completely in this. He's going to hate me for this. I'm taking 42. [ ] Yeah. [ ] you, John. How are you going to take that? That was on my take it because you love Jackie Robinson. That was in my Chad Boseman's amazing. I mean, Harrison Ford and Chadwick Boseman in a baseball movie. Are you [ ] kidding me? All right. Can I Can you excuse my opinion? I think it's the best movie ever. Fast and Furious guy think it's the best movie. I think it's the best baseball movie ever. I genuinely think it's the best baseball movie and I thought that's why I said I don't think you guys are going to take my real number one. All right, give me uh For love of the game. That's a great one. I did not have that up there though. No, that was not just because just just out of like the crowd like the pandering to the crowd. It was I watch I actually I've watched that like four times in the last couple months. So good. All right. Yours, Caleb. I mean, Alex. Is it me, Caleb? No, you're up. Caleb. All right, that's perfect. The two picks I was debating on in my number one. Both of them I will end up with because I'm going Bull Durham. Fantastic movie. So many quotable lines. I mean, it was The Natural or Bull Durham for me. Uh, yeah, Bull Durham. Kevin Coer is phenomenal. He's been in a lot of baseball movies. This is the only one that's not like annoying to watch. The It's quotable. It's funny. Bulld. I considered it my one and I'm glad it fell to me. Oh, I have another pick, don't I? Five. Four. I am torn here. Give me Bad News Bears. Which one? Which one? There's two. The OG Billy Bob Thorn Walter Matau. No. Walter Matau. Give me the OG. The OG Tanner Bole was a stud. I've got a Tanner Bole. Uh Chico's Bail Bonds jersey. Bad News Bears. It's fantastic movie. Greatest little league movie ever made. Don't watch the second or third or all their other sequels of it because they're terrible. But the OG Bad News Bears is fantastic. Just so you know, I'm going to win this draft because I'm running [ ] laps around you. Um I'm taking the major league. How does the major league fall to the middle [clears throat] of third round? Bad news. Look at what's ahead of it. I I would have taken Major League above the Natural and I would have taken above Bad News. The Natural is one of the most It is one of the most influential baseball movies that we have. Robert Redford. Are you [ ] Glen Close? Are you [ ] kidding me? Wild Thing. The Natural. The Natural is too iconic. So So is the major league. [snorts] I would say Major League is great. It's great, but are you [ ] telling meal? Yeah. No. As a natural as a as a natural as a baseball fans, the major league appealed to everybody regardless of if you like baseball or not. Alex, uh, are you going to take the benchwarmers now, Alex? Is that your Harold Baines? No, I love I I do love the benchwarmers, though. Don't sleep on Are you [ ] talking? No disrespect. I'm Are you [ ] talking right now? Are you [ ] talking? I'm not taking that. Oh, the bench warmers just so good. I'm not taking it either, but it's so good. It just it's not it's not up there for me. Um, but it's I think as a movie, like an enjoyable movie, I can pop that in every single night and laugh. [ ] Howie with getting hit to win the game. You crashed my Miata. Nick Schwarzen. Yeah, Nick Schwarzen's great. Um, all right. I'm looking at all these movies. Do I take Do I take this one? It's just like sitting out there. I I'm not taking this one. I It just doesn't The number three on my board is still here. So, I'm [clears throat] excited about that. Like a little bit more of a light-hearted one because I have a couple of really [ ] These are these are some heavier movies. Oh my god. There is a I'm I'm actually not going to spoil this movie because this is [ ] hilarious or I'm not going to spoil this pick for you guys. Um, [ ] Give me uh give me Fever Pitch. Good movie. Oh, what are you talking about? What are you talking about? That's awful. It's Is it It's It's a That's a terrible movie. Baseball adjacent. Yeah, it's a baseball movie about they made the movie and they had a different ending until the Red Sox won the World Series and they were like, "Oh, fuck." That's crazy. So, I have Field of Dreams for Love of the Game in Major League and you took Fever Pitch and I have on my Take a lightarted one. I have seven baseball movies. For the love of the game is critically for the love of the game is like critic did not do critically well. They It's a [ ] love story. He threw a perfect game. Yeah, it's a love story. It's a half of it's a love story. They do so much [ ] with the love story. You know why? It's a baseball movie that has a love story. Fever pitch is a romcom that has some baseball in it. It's not a They're both literally about baseball. They both just take your fourth pick. Just take your fourth pick. Big fourth pick. You took Jimmy Fallon in a baseball movie. Perfectly enjoyable. That's crazy. That's awful. That movie pick so I can pick a real baseball movie. Take Take Angels in the Outfield next. What about Summer Catch? Go for Summer Catch. Give me Dennis [clears throat] Quaid. I'll take the rookie. That's good pick. That's a great pick. is mine. Um, with my fourth, I'm going to pick pride of the Yankees. Pride. Okay. I mean, that was a free pick for you could have my fifth rounder. I need my fifth rounder. Um, [snorts] he's looking at the Rotten Tomato score right now. What is the top Rotten Tomatoes baseball? Babe Ruth played himself. It's about Lou Garri. There's nothing baseballier than Lou Garri and Babe Ruth. How enjoyable is it? Like, how much do you actually enjoy? Like, how can you sit down and enjoy this movie? Are you okay with crying during the movie? Because it's about Lou, the greatest when 1942. You can't get me to enjoy a movie made in 1942. Sick. I'll enjoy it for I'll enjoy it for a second. No, the production value the production value on that got to be just rock. I thought he was going to I You know what? I'm spoiling this pick. I thought you were gonna take Heading Home: The Tale of Team Israel. No, I'm good. I'm good. I'll take Pride of the Yankees. I had that like written out for you. You don't know Ball. There's still one, two, three. It's like five good baseball movies left. There's one out there. It's sitting out there and it's like I think we all know what it is. I don't know if anyone's taken it. I've got five on my list. Angels in the Outfield. Horrible movie. Joseph Gordon Liv in that. Still a horrible movie. Yeah. Is it me? All right. Um I really want to make John mad, but I'm not going to do it. No. Um to salvage my I'm going to salvage my fifth pick. Uh my fourth one I'm going to go little big league. [ ] I think that movie is [ ] incredibly slept on. That was that was one I was hoping would fall to me. I was hoping it would fall to me at the end. I did not think any of you were gonna take it. I think it is. No, I think it is the best quality baseball movie ever. The the quality of baseball that they play in that movie is Yeah. I mean, where what compares? Don't tell me Pride of the Yankees. That [ ] does not compare. No, a big a big part for me is in baseball movies is guys that can actually look like they play the game. I think in little big league, I mean, obviously they had Ken Griffy Jr. Randy Johnson, so can't be can't be too bad. Randy Johnson and Dave Dave Maggie. Uh Mickey Tedleton. I think he is. Yeah, he I don't think he has any lines, but he has like a scene where he's pretty sure Pudge Pudge or something. Pudge is in it. Yeah. Um but yeah, the cameos are great. I mean, I think the premise of the movie is incredible. PCA's mom super creative. So, or is that PC? I was thinking cuz Rookie of the Year and Little Big League came out around the same time. Sometimes I mix up the cast of those two. No, the Yeah, the mom and little Big League is PCA's mom. Um, I'm so torn on my fifth pick though. I know. fifth pick. I'm either going to make John Well, with a make John mad thing that kind of is obvious, but also want to go with a fifth pick that like is good. The one I was talking about, it wouldn't piss me off because it would mean I' that I could take my like little passion project movie and be comfortable beating you because the movie you're talking about is the worst [ ] movie of all time. So, take it. It's a great movie. It's a bad movie. It's a great movie if you don't watch baseball. It's a great movie if you don't take the actual true season of the A's into consideration, but the actual production of the movie is great. If you would acknowledge acknowledge that you had Miguel Tahada, then all of a sudden it's a decent baseball movie. I I see it as a fiction movie. But it's given to you. It's fed to you as as this is what really happened. This is how they made the playoffs. We didn't have Barry Z. But it's still it's still a great movie. I think I'm going I'm gonna go with my niche pick here and I there's no way that anyone's heard of it, but I don't think you do. It's That's exactly what I was going to say. Oh my god. No, no. Everybody wants some. That's one of my favorite movies of all time. Glenn Powell is phenomenal. Um it's basically uh what's the Matthew McConna 80s movie? Um Dazed and confused. It stays and confused for college baseball. I've I've seen this movie probably 10 to 15 times. It's one of my favorite of all time. I'm easily going everybody wants some. Opinion, John. It's actually extremely I've never seen it. It's highly rated. 87% of Rotten Tomatoes. So, it's like everyone I've ever talked to plays baseball has not seen this movie. I have one you haven't seen. Such a good movie. Do I want to win or do I want to take one of my favorite baseball movies? Does this have a 100% on Rotten Tomatoes that you're that you're thinking about? Let me see. It's a It is a passion project. It is a very niche film. Um, let me see what it has. No, I don't think you're taking it. So, you know who my second favorite baseball player is behind um Jackie Robinson is Roberto Clemente. And I
I'll take it. Chasing 3000.
Have you ever seen it with Bernie Mack? No. That's Mr. 3000. [laughter] No, that's Mr. 3000. You ever seen Chasing 3000? Chasing 3000. It's got Ray Ray Leota's in it. Um, one of the Kulkans is in it. It's about a brother, two Pirates fans. One of them is muscular drophe, isn't going to be able to travel much more. So, they go on like a cross-country road trip to follow the Pirates so they can see Roberto Clemen's 3000 hit. And it it was an okay. So, it's bas It's basically like 80 for Brady. It's very similar, but it's baseball 80 for Brady. It's My other pick, I was going to go with 61, but then I would have two very Yankees ccentric um movies though, the sniper from uh Saving Private Ryan played Roger Maris, which was pretty cool. He did a good job. It's a better movie, but I'm going to take Chasing 3000.
Um I can't leave this out. Like, this can't be left. Like, I got to go Moneyball. I'm sorry. Like Moneyball is a is a very good movie. It is a very enjoyable movie to watch. The entire streak sequence is incredible. Like you don't you can watch the streak sequence and be like, "This is a great movie." You don't even have to think about who's on the team and who's not on the team. Again, watch it as a fiction. Baseball in my life. It's fiction, but it's not presented as fiction. And there are so many people who think, well, you know, they didn't have anybody on that squad and they made the playoffs. I've legitimately heard people say that that a team with no talent made it. The only thing that skews me away from that is like interviews with guys like David Justice and I think Eric Chavez did something where they've openly spoken like this is not even close to the conversation that happened here, which is fine. Like this is this isn't what happened. I see action as a like this is what happened. They present it as like a semi-realistic take on that team. And if you you have to acknowledge that they had possibly the best pitching staff in baseball, possibly inarguably the probably the best infielder in baseball that year, Tahada. So yeah, you got a bunch of guys with high OPS. These guys are scrappy and can get on base. Great. And who drove them all in? Wow. A movie took a a Hollywood movie took liberties with the with the story that it was based on. They didn't take liberties. They rewrote the whole season. They rewrote the whole season. What a shocker. Mike the the blind side won [ ] awards and Michael our is like suing the family. Are we really going to have this discussion right now? Yeah. Moneyball sucks. Moneyball does not suck. So like a year later the book came out the next How accurate how accurate was the book? I'm probably not very [ ] accurate. You didn't read it? No. The book did get the book did get more into the like stars of the team than the movie did all that his college thesis on this. My dad did his college thesis on this on like all the stuff they've cut out. So everything that was realistic. That's part of the reason why I didn't take it like Yeah. ever. There was so much stuff that was left out, but I believe at face value the actual movie is a very well done movie. Do not very well done. If you like Chris Pratt is incredible. He he does a great job playing Scott Hatterburg even though Scott Scott Hatterberg played like 50 games that year. Just talk just the scene with with Ron Washington in their house and and Brad Pitt is just bullshitting him. He's like, "Yeah, first base ain't that hard. It's incredibly hard. Like incredibly hard. That's so That's I get the criticisms for Moneyball, but it overall they're valid criticisms. It's a good movie. But I'm looking at at the board right now. I'm looking at every movie that's on here. Moneyball cannot be left off this board. I don't think it can be. We left League of Their Own off the board. We left one off the board. That's that I was just about to say there's one other that I would have left. Moneyball and Mr. Baseball or League of League of Their Own and Mr. Baseball. I'm wearing the jersey. I know. So, you passed on League of Their Own. Yeah, I was. Everyone did. Every single one of you passed on League of Their Own. Yeah, but you could have taken that over fever pitch. You took Pride of the Yankees. You took Pride of the Yankees. Great [ ] movie. Is a great movie. So, pound sand. Far You took a movie made in 1942. I swept the strap. You took a movie before what? The lead the lead actor murder The lead actor murdered his wife. He burned her in a house. He didn't murder his wife during the movie. You know, they show But he did murder his wife. Okay. It was Oh, it was after he murdered his wife. Yeah. Kevin Cosner was [ ] Cal Ripken's wife. Kevin, you support a serial cheater. Dude. Yeah. Uh, you know that Kevin Coer can actually pitch. Ed is a movie with Matt Leblanc, the guy from Friends, and he is a minor league ball player, and the minor league team gets a monkey to play with him, and he has to live with him. It got It's a horrible movie. That sounds uh Summer Catch. Enjoyable. No, I enjoy that movie. Bet you do. That's the worst movie of all time. Jessica, he left. He's in the middle of a perfect game. He's in the middle of the game and left the [ ] field. No [ ] Jessica. I'm saying you would you would leave the perfect game in the middle of a game to go bang Jessica Beal. No, you [ ] coward. But Jessica n Jessica Beal's in the movie. Not Cape Cod. Jessica's in the movie. You could be a first time pick and you're leaving that. I would never leave a perfect game, but Jessica Beal's in the movie. Um, so then that movie sucks. Jessica Beal's in a lot of movies. It doesn't mean they're good. The Benchwmers. That movie infuriated me. I just want to give you credit because I like a lot of bad movies, too. You've made me agree with Caleb so much in the last 20 minutes and it's actually making me a little nauseous. [laughter] Uh, Mr. Baseball, your takes are so or that [ __ ] bad. I love anything with Tom Celic. Um, Mr. Baseball is on my list. Frank, shout out Frank Thomas. I've never seen Mr. Baseball. I don't watch a I don't watch a lot of movies. Rooster Millions. Richard Prior. No. John Candy, Richard Prior and John Candy. That whole Hey, I want to piss me off by made no sense. Alex tried to pass Space Jam off as a baseball movie that he could take in the draft before you got in here. No, I did not pass that off. I said ball. I said baseball. I didn't I don't love it, but it's definitely a baseball movie. I don't know. It it it felt like more of a like a romantic chickflick kind of million dollar arm. I didn't like it. What about million-dollar arm? Is that is that the one about the cricket? That was the Indian. They try to turn the cricket the cricket player into a a pitcher. Valid idea actually in real life. Like not a bad idea. They can throw really hard. Cobb. Tommy Lee Jones. The story of Tai Cobb. essentially they uh they tell the story from Tai Cobb's perspective. How many times they say the N word cuz Tai Cobb was a racist piece of [ ] You know that you know that that's actually that's a misconception. That's a misconception. He said all of the stories on Tai Cobb were based on that's essentially what that's essentially what the movie is about. It's saying it's Tai Cobb was an advocate for the new So did Rogers actually he was a terrible person. Did Rogers Hornsby say that Tai Cobb refused to share a dugout with Babe Ruth because he looked too much like an N-word? Cuz that was reported. I don't know. He wouldn't play in the All-Star game. Well, there's been um apparently a lot of the reports against Tai Cobb that like were racially like charged were from writers that really just had like an issue with him. I could see that because there's no real verification back in that day. You can't like get it on on the record. But there's pictures there's pictures of him like throwing out the first pitch at like a in an arguable uh Negro Leagues game like but you could throw the first pitch and still not like it feels like this. But he was like a big supporter apparently. That that that's at least what I've read. I don't know maybe I'm wrong but because I've I've seen that I've seen that a lot of stuff about Taikob fabricated like overexaggerated. I'm sure he I'm sure he was still a racist because of the time period that he lived in. Babe Ruth was actually the first black baseball player. No, it was it was Fleetwood Walker. Why was he like partially black in like the 1880s? Well, no, he was fully black in the 1880s before they like was it the official was kept them out. Kept the documentary.
