Alright, welcome back. Episode 244 of Chaotically Intolerant. we have a big show today. We have MLB division series wrap-up. we are almost done at this point in the show. and then we're gonna do a little bit of NFL picks. We have some some good debates on some recent MLB news that has come out regarding the collective bargaining agreement and some rule changes. And then at the end of the show, we're gonna do a snake draft of

Best MLB uniforms. you can go vote on that at chaoticallyintolerant dot com once you listen. please vote based on the team that you think is the best, not the team that John drafts, because John just sends his fucking minions.

speaker-1 (00:46)

Caleb

speaker-0 (00:47)

That is Caleb. It's actually Caleb. Caleb is rigging the vote, he's stuffing the ballot box. and it's not right. But before yeah, stop the steal, please. Caleb stop the steal.

But before we do all that, make sure to like, comment, subscribe, go check out chaoticallyintolerant.com. That's where you can get this hat, this brand new hat that I have here. you go to TikTok or YouTube to check out Spring Hill Sports Carts. John is always doing card rips there. And go check out Draft America at DraftAmerica dot com, Instagram, YouTube. they are on TikTok, although I don't think you post all that much on TikTok, right, Mike.

speaker-2 (01:26)

But

speaker-0 (01:28)

Yeah, not a not a big TikTok guy, that's fine. Alright, let's go.

Alright, fellas. So we had some major news coming from Rob Manfred, Rob Manfraud, about some possible rule changes coming within the next year in these CBA negotiations. There'll be a lot of a lot of important shit coming out within probably what the next four or five months, I would say, regarding the the future of baseball. depending on how long this strike lasts, though. It could be the next year of crazy news about crazy rule changes that they're trying to propose.

One of those is dropping from one hundred sixty two to one hundred fifty four games. I know, John, you have some strong feelings regarding one sixty.

speaker-1 (02:31)

I'm a Royals fan, and outside of two years of my life, the 162 is all we get. Well, three years of my life. The 162 is all we get. So, like, don't take away eight of my games. That's a week and a half's worth of baseball for me to watch. and if you're talking about, well, we're gonna add two games to the division series, so you take away eight regular season games from all thirty teams so that eight teams play two more games.

How does that make any sense for me? How does that make financial sense at all? So those games are gonna be sold out anyway.

speaker-0 (03:08)

That's four home games. That's four home games a team. They're losing revenue from four home games.

speaker-1 (03:13)

Series

games are gonna be sold out anyway. So teams like the Rockies, the Royals, the Athletics, the Pirates that are not in the playoffs, you take away four home games, that's some significant income. I don't understand it. I don't even understand where they're coming from. unless you want to say we're gonna add more playoff games or something, other than just that one series. If you're gonna make the wild card a five gamer and then you're gonna make the division series a seven gamer.

Okay, now maybe we can talk about dropping it to one fifty-eight or something. But taking away eight regular season games for two playoff games makes no sense to me. I don't understand where they're coming from, but Mike, you made a good point with all like the Fugazi fairy dust nonsense just to try to get the players to agree to the salary cap. What was that?

speaker-2 (04:01)

Yeah, I mean it's i I think it's all just trying to make nice, right? And they think make nice and the players look, the the salary cap is hated by the players who are gonna get paid a lot. Salary floor would be loved by the players who don't get paid a lot. Those concessions would go better for them.

The the the dumbest part of this, I mean, you're right. I hate the idea of reducing the season. Now, I never liked the idea of expanding a season. The worst thing that ever happened in the history of sports was going to 17 games. I never knew that any sport would would think about reducing the schedule, because usually that means less money. The at changing the division series to seven games of the three things that they propose to me is the least egregious.

You guys were talking before about the wildcard series and and maybe getting rid of that because you're playing in one location. Maybe even just going back to the wildcard game, I didn't hate that. It kind of added a little bit of a game seven drama, which is why they did it the first place, because of that 2011 final night.

but the picking your own opponents is I I can't believe that that's a serious thing. And if and if MLB PA goes for that, people should stop showing up to games. I mean that that is just they refuse to recede right now, right?

speaker-0 (05:20)

That

feels like a travel ball thing. Like a travel ball league would have that.

speaker-2 (05:25)

Exactly. Video, something you'd get in a video game or you know, that we do like a fun, like mock. What what would your favorite opponent be? No. Like you have records, you seed, or you reseed, or you get rid of division. I'm not get rid of divisions, but I'd be okay with either going to two divisions and having f two winners and four wild cards who play each other, or maybe four divisions the way the NFL does it. I think that's a better way to to format it.

but they have to recede. I don't know why they're they're insistent on this. One plays four and five. We had the Yankees in the race. That was the ALCS. For anyone wondering, Chicago and Cleveland are not winning the American League, and that's because we just had the American League Championship Series and we shouldn't have, because those two teams had the best records in the American League. Why are they playing in this round just because of geography? I

speaker-0 (06:17)

I I have an argument on the White Sox. They might they might win the American League.

speaker-1 (06:21)

I really I think Cleveland can beat the Rays. I think the white I think the White Sox magic runs out. I think the Guardians

speaker-0 (06:27)

Let's let's save this discussion for the division series topics. Yeah, fucking asshole. You fucking asshole, John. God damn.

speaker-2 (06:36)

hyped, but but Cleveland can't score runs and you know, like the White Sox, this pitching plan that they can only sustain it for so long. I just think you can't have but regardless of what happens, you can't have the two best teams playing this early. And and I think they have to look they just have to I I don't know who like MLB PA do they have a team of lawyers, do they have a team of analytics nerds that can step in and be like, guys, this is why this is stupid. I know you guys are jocks, athletes, maybe this doesn't register how stupid it is. Let me break it down for you and talk

some sense into you and I think this is where MLBPA has to hold firm.

speaker-1 (07:11)

No stupid fucking changes.

speaker-0 (07:13)

I like I like the change to the seven game division series. I like that. I think I always kinda thought division series, it's your you're the last, you know, four in your league. I feel like you should get more than five to play. there's been a few there has been division series where I'm like, Man, I wish we had a few more of these just because these teams are so good. but not the Yankees raised series.

speaker-1 (07:40)

That's the worst game I've ever been to. Game two is the worst played baseball game I've ever been to. R Yankees race. I was on the I was on the Jumbotron. That was

speaker-0 (07:50)

But

speaker-1 (07:51)

the number one race fan on the Jumbotron. They put the biggest race fan in the place up there.

speaker-0 (07:57)

Hell yeah. That's hilarious.

speaker-1 (08:00)

I

actually had a guy message me on TikTok. He goes, hey, I follow you. I'm at the Rays game. I didn't know you were a Raze fan. I was like, I'm not. I'm not. I'm just fucking here.

speaker-0 (08:10)

my last question before we move into we'll do the NFL after this. what is your preferred wild card error playoff format? If you could have a preferred playoff format, how would you do it?

One wild card.

speaker-1 (08:24)

Somebody gets a buy. Somebody gets a buy. Yeah. You have to make the reg the best regular season record worth something because it's such a fucking grind. But yeah, I play it out. Play it, play it all the way out.

Seven seven seven.

speaker-0 (08:38)

Break that down. How does someone get a buy?

speaker-1 (08:42)

What s eight teams, no six teams and a bye. I have to think about this. How'd it used to be? How'd it used to be? Why can't I remember? The best best in

speaker-0 (08:53)

Or it used to be

speaker-1 (08:56)

what four teams? No. Five teams.

speaker-0 (08:58)

Used to be just the D S D S A L C S World Series.

speaker-2 (09:02)

It was four and five played the wild card game, and then the winner got in as the wild card, as the wild card, and played the top seed, and then two played three. And they did away with up until twenty twelve.

They mandated that division rivals could not play until the LCS, which I thought at the time I was like, well, that's dumb. And what's the big deal? Well, now you're seeing the these these best of five series between two teams with the best record in the American League. And I understand why they did that for the first, what was it, 17, 16, 17 years of the wild card era? my so the way they did it from ninety five through eleven was it was four teams.

You had the three division winners, you had a wild card. The wild card would play the top seed, unless the top seed was a division rival, in which case four would play two, one would play three. I want to throw out a crazy format idea. Now, if my ideal would be keep it as it is now. I know the three game to you guys is not a popular opinion. The series, I I would even maybe think about going back to the one game for for the wild card series. I like the idea of having just two divisions.

The two division winners get buys, which cuts down on the likelihood that you have a crappy division winner. And then the four wild cards, whether they come from one division or not, you have the four wild cards who play in that opening weekend. Well, what do you guys think about this idea? I'm just curious. Thought about it years ago, a couple of years ago, when the MLB was talking about expanding to 14 teams. They were gonna have 14 teams, right? That's what the NFL has right now. Two plays seven, three plays six, four plays five, one gets a buy.

three winners advance. What if you had four place seven, five play six in a one game elimination wildcard? The winners of those play another one game wild card. And then the winner of that is the four seed and goes in as the wild card.

speaker-1 (10:58)

Similar to like a play-in tournament in the NBA. Similar concept.

speaker-2 (11:01)

Yes.

But one game.

speaker-0 (11:03)

But yeah, one game and it's only it's not as many teams. I was literally gonna say jokingly, I was like, we should just do the NBA play in tournament. Game three game series for each match.

speaker-2 (11:13)

Well, but it's

speaker-1 (11:18)

One game, one game, winners of those go to the three game wild card. Just more baseball.

speaker-0 (11:23)

about like a hundred and thirty

speaker-2 (11:26)

You

speaker-0 (11:26)

five game regular season, one month play in tournament to the playoffs, and then the MOP play.

speaker-1 (11:32)

Actually the best team

speaker-2 (11:33)

Yeah.

speaker-1 (11:35)

the National League play in the World Series in the regular season actually matters.

speaker-0 (11:38)

That's the best one. I love that one.

speaker-2 (11:42)

In in essence, you are having the wild like in in the the proposal I said, you'd have Tuesday, you'd have the two games, Thursday you'd have the final, and then Saturday you'd start the division series. And then this way you get the excitement of the one game playoff, but you get the wild cards really have to battle to get into the division series. And it still gives the top three teams the same amount of rest. But again, with three division winners in this scenario. That

speaker-1 (12:08)

You'd get some epics. 'Cause

everybody who had yeah.

speaker-2 (12:12)

You would and I also sorry. I was gonna say I also think that

speaker-0 (12:18)

I should kiss now.

speaker-2 (12:19)

in this scenario in this scenario, you could have one through seven and just simply reseed based on records. Cause I hate the idea that in my scenario, the eighty one and eighty one Astros would have had a buy and not played until the division series. So they have to look at that.

speaker-0 (12:36)

All right. Well, I think I love this conversation, but I think that's a good spot to wrap up. we're gonna move in to the NFL. So we don't have a ton of time for NFL this week. We're gonna be covering a lot of MLB division series, but we are gonna do a little bit of NFL picks. We're gonna pick every game here. we're gonna start with Thursday night football. the Tampa Bay Buccaneers head to Dallas to play the Cowboys. Dallas eight and a half point home.

Favorites here.

speaker-2 (13:06)

Oof, eight and a half. Baker's still out.

speaker-0 (13:12)

Yes, Baker's still out.

speaker-2 (13:13)

And Dallas is coming off a loss, right?

speaker-0 (13:18)

No, they won. They they did beat Houston.

speaker-2 (13:21)

they be that's right.

speaker-0 (13:22)

that was the seventeen reception game for C D Land.

speaker-2 (13:27)

Right, right, right. Sorry. I knew one Houst one Texas team was coming off a loss there. I'm gonna go with Dallas. I know I should never lay that many points, but this feels like like one they have to have 'cause they're right in the middle. So I'm gonna take the Cowboys.

speaker-0 (13:43)

Yeah, you're two and two. I mean, you you can't really drop this. They did just activate Tyler Smith as well. they're they're all pro guard. so I'm like in Dallas to roll over the Bucks. this is just a very sad Bucks team. Only one team has started the NFL season at O and four and made the playoffs.

I think it was ninety two San Diego Chargers. San Diego. This is good.

speaker-2 (14:07)

I I can't I mean

speaker-0 (14:09)

There's no well, he he might get the baker got hurt.

speaker-2 (14:12)

No, but

speaker-0 (14:12)

They I hope they don't do that, but you know how these owners are.

speaker-2 (14:16)

They did they he didn't they didn't look anywhere near competent when Baker was playing, so I don't know.

speaker-0 (14:21)

Yeah.

to London, to Tottenham Hot Spurs Stadium. the Eagles and the Jaguars. Jacksonville seven point favorites. I do have a few things on this. The Jaguars play twenty-six of their next thirty regular season games away from Jacksonville.

speaker-2 (14:38)

Twenty six of their next thirty.

speaker-0 (14:40)

Next year they're going to be playing in Orlando due to stadium renovations. So they will only have four games in Jacksonville.

speaker-2 (14:48)

Wow. I mean they're just inching towards moving to London permanently. I'm gonna take the Jags. The Eagles are just I don't even know how they had a ten point lead on the Rams. I know what that says about the Rams. The Eagles look pathetic. I I I'd be shocked that they were two and I it feels like they should be two and ten.

speaker-0 (15:06)

Yeah,

Saquon is week to week right now with hamstring and Tank Bigsby is headed to the IR.

speaker-2 (15:12)

Yeah, he wasn't doing anything and then their line and Hertz is playing terrible. It just I don't know. Just a terrible vibe around the Eagles right now, taking the Jags.

speaker-0 (15:20)

Yeah. Really sad. I guess I have to take Jacksonville, but wouldn't this just be a weird London game where the Eagles come out and and just roll or something like that, or they actually look competent?

speaker-2 (15:32)

Sure, any game could be anything. but I just think the Eagles are are just broken. Although maybe going across the pond will be better for them than having to deal with their fans booing them, so

speaker-0 (15:44)

They're actually they're going over on Friday, tomor tonight when this releases. They will be hit they are not going to do the week in London thing. They're doing the Sean McVeigh route. That worked out

speaker-2 (15:55)

then they're screwed. Yeah.

speaker-0 (15:57)

well, right? Yeah. It's only a five hour flight. It's not as bad.

But I th I also think maybe Lane Johnson part of why Lane Johnson retired was you know, he realized this Hertz train, he might as well get off the Hertz train now.

speaker-2 (16:12)

I thought he just didn't want the trip to London, long plane road, but that could be that could be wrong.

speaker-0 (16:17)

That's very that's very possible too. Bears Packers, Chicago two and a half point favorites in Green Bay.

speaker-2 (16:24)

Oof. God, how's Green Bay 2 and 2? They feel like an 0-12 team. I'm taking the Bears. I don't know. Whoever's playing, they they got a little mojo going right now.

speaker-0 (16:34)

It's

it's gonna be Bayent. Bayent is starting. Ben Johnson did say so. I did like Ben Johnson's little Case Keenum opening or ceremonial first pitch that he did with Case Keenum where he sent him out there for the first snap just to be like you don't know what I'm gonna do. but he's won three games with three different starters, and I really don't doubt Ben Johnson right now. Bears, give me the Bears in Lambeau.

Texans Titans. Owen fours. The battle of the Owen Fours. And somehow Houston is seven point favorites in a battle of the Owen Fours.

speaker-2 (17:11)

Oof, I I like Tennessee with the points.

speaker-0 (17:17)

Demico Ryans is taking over play calling for the defense. so I expect a very hopped-up defense and a very aggressive defense. So I'm gonna take Texans too with the points. Titans just even when they look good last week, they didn't look great. The offense did look a little more competent, but they're just not good. Bengals Dolphins, Cincy, minus six and a half. They did lose T. Higgins and Jamar Chase in their game against Jacksonville last week. I do not have an update on their status, to be honest.

It did not find it.

speaker-2 (17:50)

God. Surprised it's I I still like Cincinnati here. I think Miami's trending towards a long Ofer.

speaker-0 (17:57)

Miami stinks.

They really do. Their their only win might be over the Jets when they see the Jets. at home. Or actually on the road. That would make more sense. In MetLife, it's going to be gross and rainy, and they're going to win like a 15 to 10 game. but I'm going to take the Bengals in this one to cover the six and a half point spread. Probably the big game of the early slate, Raiders Patriots, New England, three and a half point favorites in New England here.

speaker-2 (18:27)

well Raiders won their last year. but the Patriots coming off a big emotional win. But I I so I'm gonna take the Patriots. I think this is a revenge for last year. I think they're they found something in Buffalo. I think they might be back. And I think the Raiders, as well as they played, they they raidered against the Chiefs, and they deserve to be punished for their sins. So I will take New England.

speaker-0 (18:53)

If the Raiders want any chance at winning this ball game, they have to run the football. They ran for seventy two yards, two point eight yards per carry last week against the Chiefs. They have to run the football. I don't know why I kinda like the Raiders in a bounce back spot here, though. Because something about me is just I get a little weary with playoff or with divisional games. 'Cause they are kinda you they do go a little bit more up in the air. So Patriots, they look great. I'm not

disparaging anything on the Patriots, but something about it just gets me a little nervous. I'm gonna take the Raiders here. I like the Raiders. Vikings, Saints, Minnesota, two and a half point favorites. They did not score a touchdown last week as well in their win over the Dolphins. this game is in New Orleans as well.

speaker-2 (19:41)

I can the Saints really lose three straight at home as bad as they've looked though. I actually like the Saints. I think the low line is telling me to take New Orleans against conventional wisdom here. But I think I like the Saints.

speaker-0 (19:57)

Yeah, I I think Monday night was frustrating, especially, you know, on the the anniversary of Katrina or the Superdome opening, after Katrina and Steve Gleason being there, and then you just go out and get steamrolled in that game. I mean, that's pretty embarrassing. I think there's gonna be some frustration that they're gonna take out here. I don't I just don't know how sustainable it is to have not even just an average offense, an anemic offense.

with this great defense. I I just don't know how sustainable that is for a team like the Vikings, especially with their history. I'm gonna take I guess I'm gonna take the Saints. Maybe Minnesota will have a little bit of a of a Odell bump, I guess. I don't even know if he'll be elevated to play. I don't even know if he'll ever be elevated to play in Minnesota. Who knows? but I'm gonna take Tyler Shuck, few future MVP and the Saints.

This is a weirdly could be a good game. It's really gross teams. Browns, Jets at MetLife. The Jets two and a half point favorites against a rolling Browns team.

speaker-2 (21:06)

again, that's just one of those that it's like it's almost telling me to take the Jets because it shouldn't be that the odds makers know something. I'm going with the Jets.

speaker-0 (21:15)

The Jets had less total plays on offense than the Bears had first downs last week. The offense was horrible. I feel like the offense is gonna show up. They've been very hot and cold. They can't really get either side either side to show up at the same time. but I I'm gonna say

Just I like the Jets here. I I kind of like this spot for the Jets. The Browns are a little too high. They don't want to let their fans think they're too good. so I'll take the Jets and the two and a half. Colts Steelers in Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh two and a half point favorites here. they just traded Joey Porter Jr. things are really negative in this in this locker room right now. Aaron Rodgers looked very frustrated with Mike McCarthy multiple times.

But again, it is the Colts in Pittsburgh. They hit they are historically very bad in Pittsburgh. They do not win last year, six turnovers from the Colts. That was when I think the collapse really started, not when Daniel Jones tore his Achilles or when they lost to Kansas City. I think it started in Pittsburgh when they turned the ball over six times. I'm gonna take the Steelers here. I think the Steelers still roll, but Mike Tomlin

guidance would tell you that this is a game they lose because they are home favorites after a very tough road loss against Cleveland in primetime.

speaker-2 (22:38)

Yeah, I I like the Colts here for whatever reason. I just I think I like the

speaker-0 (22:43)

I'm sorry.

I'm sorry. They're so hard to like. They just are. Giants Commanders, three and one versus one and three. I don't know if we're gonna see. Are we gonna see Mariota? I don't have an update on his injury, but Washington are three and a half point favorites. I'm gonna look up Mariota right now.

Won't be placed on IR.

Daniel J Jaden Daniels should be he has returned to practice. yeah, he was a full participant yesterday. So it should be Jaden Daniels versus Jameis. I think Jameis. Maybe JJ, I would think Jameis. in Landover, Maryland.

speaker-2 (23:23)

I think this is a this is a come back to earth for the giants. I'm gonna go w

speaker-0 (23:29)

Yeah, Washington, like, they gotta win another one. I I d this is a sad team, but I don't think the Giants are four and one. They're not a four and one football team. I just don't see it. Broncos Chargers. The 0-4 Chargers going up against the two and two Broncos. Sean Payton will be taking some play calling duties this week. He initially he said we're it's too early to make a change. Now he's making a change. That was earlier this week.

Denver is only three and a half point favorites in LA.

speaker-2 (24:04)

Chargers are so pitiful. But I would take the points. I think if nothing else, the chargers are gonna keep it close.

speaker-0 (24:12)

yeah, I'm I'm gonna take the Broncos. I think they're gonna kill I think that loss last week was was really frustrating. That was a very winnable game for them. they were they were in it the whole time. the defense really kept them in it too. the offense just woke up a little too late. I like Denver here to roll. To roll. I these are in this Chargers team is and five. Telling you that right now. Maybe we'll get a coaches firing within a few weeks.

Lions, Cardinals, Detroit, five and a half point favorites coming off a very tough loss to the Carolina Panthers on Sunday night football.

speaker-2 (24:49)

I think the Lions are just they just don't have it, but I s I would take the points with Arizona. Actually would.

speaker-0 (24:57)

Yeah, the Cardinals had a 14-3 lead on the Giants and then they blew it. They've looked competent at times this year. Jacoby Brissett looks competent at times. and then Goff, 412 yards on Sunday night. He was not bad whatsoever. He looked very good. but I I'm taking the Lions. This is just a game the Lions don't lose. They're they are too talented, I think, to lose this game. maybe Cardinals plus five and a half, but they just seem to

run out of steam early in games. 49ers, Seahawks, Seattle, three point favorites. In Seattle.

speaker-2 (25:35)

Ooh. This this could be a prove it game for the forty niners.

speaker-0 (25:42)

I'd said I said Denver was the prove it game. And they proved it. They looked really good.

speaker-2 (25:47)

I don't know why, but something's telling me San Francisco.

speaker-0 (25:50)

San Fran? Yeah, Seattle. Like they they were they were rolling in that game against the Chargers. They were absolutely rolling. They let LA back into that game. And I I think it's just a little early season. I mean, again, not Super Bowl hangover. This is still a very good team, but a little bit of a Super Bowl hangover. where it's just a little tough to get going at times in these games. I'm gonna take the Niners. Yeah, the Niners to win here. I

I think Brock Purdy right now is the MVP. He's absolutely the MVP. He's made almost no missteps. They had scored on half of their possessions until the the Denver game. Half of their possessions. This is a rolling team right now. Can they keep it going later in the year? That's the big question. But right now I like the Niners in pretty much every game I see. we do pick Ravens Falcons in the Maryland spotlight, so check that out. and then to the Monday night game, the

This game I don't know why this game always something about this matchup, Bills Rams. It feels like it should be the Super Bowl every year, and it's never the Super Bowl for like the past five years, and it probably will never be the Super Bowl matchup. LA three point favorites at home. So we're getting back to back days with games at SoFi. How sad.

speaker-2 (27:10)

yeah. God the Rams have done nothing to really prove anything that they're a super team. They were really lucky to beat Philly. Buffalo losing I'm gonna go with Buffalo. Maybe it's just a hate pick against the Rams. I'm taking Buffalo.

speaker-0 (27:25)

Yeah, this is a this is a big get right for Buffalo. You know, you you c you w go into the Patriots game. The Patriots are basically at an all time low. they lose thirty-five to six against Jacksonville, and then you know, you you lose. I mean, y that's not a game you lose if you're Super Bowl favorites, but they do. They come out and just flat out lose. And it's not like they looked horrible by any means. They didn't come out bad. They were just beat. They were definition of beat.

I'm gonna I guess the Bills, but it's kind of weird to take the Rams and drop to, you know, two and three. I don't know what the ten point comeback means for this Rams team. Does it mean that they just they can handle, you know, adversity? Was it they should have never even been down ten points in the first place? I I don't think they should have been down ten points in the first place to that Eagles team. That Eagles team is not good. They are not they're not bad.

But they're not a Super Bowl team. That window is officially closed in my eyes. I guess I'll take Buffalo. I guess. Josh Allen. It's Josh Allen. What can I say? All right. That's gonna be a good spot to wrap up. we're gonna move into the next segment. MOB division series is close to wrapping up. do we want to dance on the Yankees' graves now or a little later?

speaker-1 (28:51)

From sad.

speaker-0 (28:52)

Shut up. It's it's just so funny. They played they played three more games than the Red Sox and they won the same amount of games in October as the Red Sox did this year.

speaker-1 (29:02)

Red Sox still I mean the Yankees still own

speaker-0 (29:04)

Not in the last twenty years.

speaker-1 (29:06)

Do this here.

speaker-0 (29:07)

Twenty five years. Not in the last twenty five years. When it mattered.

speaker-1 (29:12)

I just

wanna I wanna ask Jo I wanna ask Caleb. Yeah

speaker-0 (29:15)

They were ho they were both bad teams.

speaker-1 (29:17)

that the the Rays are a good team because Yankees crushed you and the Rays crushed the Yankees. You ready to admit that the Rays are a pretty good team? No, I think the Rays were very beatable. I don't think they have anybody else in the AL East. No, not by anyone, probably else in the A L. The AL is just a collection of garbage. The Rays were just the

The shiniest piece of garbage.

Alex. I don't know that pit the pitching staff doesn't do anything for me. Rasmussen's nasty. fastball Freddie looks okay. Freddie looks okay. Okay. He's but he's if if the number two starter on on the American League representative in the World Series is okay, that doesn't he's been good what for the last five starts for the Rays and then throughout the playoffs, he's been good. he was just bad because he's coming from the Mets who fucked everything up for him.

And the Rays are like, hey, it's really easy to just kind of get you back to where you were. but the Mets don't have anybody in their organization who can like watch film and be like, you're doing this different. it's just like a little league team. So I think that was his problem. The Rays just aren't explainable to me. I don't I don't know. Like I I can explain it. They can't Brian Brian Baker Brian Baker's all of a sudden the best closer in baseball after being a a

A batting practice pitcher on the Orioles for Yeah,

speaker-2 (30:38)

Six years.

speaker-1 (30:40)

where is he now? He's with the Rays, right? He's the he's one of the best players. It doesn't it doesn't make sense to anything. It does make sense. It makes sense. None of it makes sense. It makes fucking sense. They have a competent coaching staff. That makes sense. They love the changeup. They teach everybody their style of changeup. And it works for everybody. Freddie Prolta's changeup is back. Brian Baker's changeup's filthy. Drew Rasmussen's changeup's filthy.

That's that is the explanation. They get a guys that have decent fastballs and they pair it with an elite changeup. And it works. Cross the board. Doesn't make a lot of stuff. You threw a good change up. I did. Yeah. Okay, see, you should understand. Change up is But a change up a changeup doesn't make an entire pitching staff. I don't it's it's it's wild to me. I don't know. It's not even just the pitching, like

Junior Camonero is their only above average hitter.

Yandi Diaz. Yandi's a a lefty killer. Okay against righties. He's a very good outside of that. It's like Victor Mace what's his face that hit the home run in game three. the Luca, I'm blanking on the Vellotti, the dude who hit the home run in game three. Yeah. Jonathan Ronda, Nick Power. I almost said Nick Fuentes, Nick Fortes. Nick Fortes even watch a lot of anti

speaker-0 (32:02)

Like

speaker-1 (32:04)

Semitic son of a dick.

speaker-0 (32:06)

Ha ha ha.

speaker-1 (32:08)

It's just they don't have the names. It's it's blowing my mind. They're not a real team. They don't have to have the names. They get on base, they steal, they move people around, they play good defense, they manage the bullpen well. Kevin Cash is the best manager in baseball. That's that is it. Why is it and people say I don't understand how guys are really bad in one place, they go to the race and they're really good. I get it because that's how they operate. They go out, they draft well.

When guys become superstars, they trade them. And in those trades, they bring in two to three pieces that they have looked at and they say, we can do something with this guy that that team can't. They bring him in and they do. Who's how it works? It's that it's really is that simple. It's it's not comprehendable to me because there's nobody in the Royals organization that is capable of doing that. We brought in somebody from the Rays, Quatraro. Clearly, we brought the wrong guy in from the Rays.

'Cause he hasn't done shit, but there must be like secret little goblins that live under their trading facility, crunching numbers, like at the bank in Harry Potter and figuring everything out. It's magic. It's magic wizardry. That's a lot of way it doesn't make sense to me. Is guy a guy like Quatraro goes over the Royals, nothing. A guy Freedman goes over the Dodgers, the Dodgers have success. The Rays continue to have success. A guy Hein Bloom goes over to the Red Sox.

Red Sox don't do anything with it. It's there's there's something about them that that clicks and I don't I I don't understand. I don't know what exactly it is. Team chemistry and trust.

speaker-0 (33:50)

Maybe playing in a horrible stadium like takes the pressure.

speaker-1 (33:53)

The paper towel cover is like enchanted. Who knows? But it it is it's like a

speaker-0 (34:01)

I'm sorry, if I have to watch another playoff game with the trop as like the background, I'm gonna kill myself, dude. It is so disgustingly ugly. It feels like it feels like I'm watching like a college game.

speaker-1 (34:14)

We're going there. Oops, sorry, I almost dropped something. When we were walking in, it was the most nonsensical like entry. Every gate was backed up. They couldn't get people into the stadium. The walkways were awful. I looked at my wife, I was like, they put all of their logistics into like on the field, and they don't give a fuck about fan experience. Like, we were

speaker-0 (34:35)

The one thing that I love is the giant ray, the gi or the giant guy coming out of the wall. That's like the b that's the only part of the trop that I love.

speaker-1 (34:43)

It's like the what is it, the world's largest rubber band ball? It's like You go

speaker-0 (34:51)

I just go I literally like every time I go to the trop and I've been to the trop, I don't know, probably forty or fifty times in my life at least. Every time I go, I'm like, I gotta go see the big guy. I gotta go see him. Fucking stupid It is my favorite part.

speaker-1 (35:04)

I don't know. I think it's

speaker-0 (35:10)

Besides Kenny Piper, who's a catcher with nine at bats and fourteen games played for the race, not a single Ray has an OPS of over nine hundred. Camonero, eight eighty five. For the number one team in the American League, you would think there w there would be a guy with nine hundred. Electric. At least nine hundred.

speaker-1 (35:33)

Like, what do you talk your team? He goes, Dorasmus isn't the best pitcher in the world. And they're like, what about Brian Baker? He's the best pitcher in the world. Like, what about you? I'm the best in the world. I'm like, dude has no idea what he's saying. He's just spamming emotes right now. He's handling. Gain some respect for him when he hit the Yankees lose. Yeah. And I hope it works out for him the same way it worked out for Vladdy. Did you see him on

on the field after the game, sweeping the field. In as the fans were leaving, waving to the fans, sweeping the field. I'm like, he's a dog. He's the fucking man, dude. How about the brewers? Here we go. hey, I was talking about this today. Is that the three most unfortunate losses in a row for like in a three in in three play consecutive playoff games? The roof ball, then the walk-off

Than the home run robbery. Is that the three worst ways to like lose a fucking series in a row?

If I'm a Padres fan, I'm I there are some holes in my wall. There's some ho holes in my wall. Think about it's like Machado hits that ball and people are like, my god, finally Cameronero just reaches up and and takes it away. That was brutal. I was like, what the fuck? These poor guys shouldn't have slid into Dustin Pedroya, man.

speaker-0 (36:54)

I for I forgot how short the wall is out there. Like how physically short. He was like he was just like, Yeah, that's just like a regular

speaker-1 (37:01)

The exact same spot Manny hit it in the WBC when Adam Jones robbed it.

speaker-0 (37:06)

Didn't Jones have to jump a little though?

speaker-1 (37:07)

We definitely hit it harder in the WBC.

speaker-0 (37:09)

He did, yeah. Yeah. That's definitely yeah, that's like definitely a completely different look. 'Cause when you just like stand there and rob it, you're l that's just a little more humiliating. You don't even have to jump for it.

speaker-1 (37:21)

And

he was not pleased. He was not pleased at all.

speaker-0 (37:24)

Yeah, it's fine. Fuck it.

speaker-1 (37:25)

Manny. No. He didn't take out my second baseman. Fucking

speaker-0 (37:29)

What is there what is there to like? What is there to like?

speaker-1 (37:33)

He's cool. So was Wander Franco. Wanderfr I never thought Wanderfranco was cool, so you did. You thought he was fucking awesome. I hate every Ray. You think every Ray every now than you thought he was when he was playing. No, once a Ray, always a Ray. He's

speaker-0 (37:49)

John, you're actively a race fan right now. You are rooting for the race.

speaker-1 (37:53)

The

biggest Wander Franco fan on the panel. Yeah,

speaker-0 (37:56)

Exactly.

speaker-1 (37:57)

for sure. That's no, definitely you. no, I was on the jumbo trying at the race game, start getting texts like number one race fan in the world, Spring Hill Sports Cards. I'm like For sure. I was like, what's going on? Like why are people why are people texting me to call me the biggest race fan alive? I'm like, because I was on television in a little race shirt that I borrowed from my boss. So now I that's me. I'm the biggest race fan.

speaker-0 (38:22)

To so where do I send the wander jersey to?

speaker-1 (38:25)

I don't know, probably federal prison in the Dominican Republic, even though he like avoided that 'cause the mom was like, It's okay, he paid me big money to have my daughter. And they were like, acceptable,

speaker-0 (38:35)

Yeah.

speaker-1 (38:36)

consensual, very strange. Took to raise blood money. Yeah. How much of that contract do they have to pay him? Definitely not any of it anymore. Well no, played a year under that big contract. no, it was an extension.

Was it a restructuring or an extension? It was it was.

speaker-0 (38:55)

I think it was an extension. I think they extended him.

It wasn't it wasn't when he was arrested. I know that 'cause it was like very recently.

speaker-1 (39:03)

That sucks. That's two things. Right I

speaker-0 (39:05)

I don't know if he's

speaker-1 (39:06)

would guess he doesn't have that much money. Let's look up Wander.

speaker-0 (39:10)

He probably doesn't have a ton of money, but I don't think he's broke by any means. This is great division series talk.

speaker-1 (39:15)

Arbitration contract had to admit at least two mil.

Yeah. So he made

He made thir no, he made th three point eight for a signing bonus, twenty twenty-one pre-R five seventy, five hundred and seventy thousand, twenty twenty-two, one point four million, twenty twenty-three, two point four million. Payments from his eleven-year 142 million contract were frozen due to his placement on the league the restricted list. So he made three or three point eight, three point eight, seven point six.

Eight point one he made eight point one million before taxes and agency fees. So he's broke. So he could be broke. Yeah, he 'cause you can spend that kind of money if you think you've got another hundred and eighty million coming your way.

speaker-0 (39:56)

Yeah. Great division series talk, guys. White Sox Guardians game four is tonight. why are the White Sox going to Tampa?

speaker-1 (40:11)

start because I'm not sure they're going tonight. I don't think they're going tonight either. Yeah, I think I really like Parker Messick tonight. Yeah, that's that was my reason too. White Sox lineup's pretty lefty heavy, at least they're power guys. they they're starting Hagen Smith again. Yeah. You can't just see throughout the entire postseason. Yeah, I don't know how many innings he's got in him. He's still he's a I think he's a rookie, right?

Unless he came up I don't remember if he came up last year or not. Let me see.

speaker-2 (40:41)

I'll I'll look it up.

speaker-1 (40:42)

he is. He's a rookie, yeah. He is okay. So it I mean it's it's rookie on rookie, could go either way, but I mean Mesic I like I like the durability he's got. I think he what he threw a hundred and seventy, hundred and eighty innings this year as a rookie. matches up well against lefties. I I could see him matching up well against Murakami, Montgomery, Ben Tendi, the lefties in that lineup. I I I like

I like I like the Guardians tonight, but I'm I will take the White Sox game five. Who do they have line five? If it's not Gav Gavin Williams, which I don't think it is, 'cause I think he threw game three or game two. I I I don't know. I I think the White Sox offense will will come through in a in a winner take all game.

I think the I still say the Guardians have a better shot at beating the

speaker-0 (41:30)

But are they gonna come back?

speaker-1 (41:31)

They'll win tonight, they'll lose they'll lose tomorrow. Well, game five would be in cle would be in Cleveland again. Right? Game five would be in Cleveland. They won the division. Yeah, where where Chicago won two in a row, right? Yeah, I don't know. I don't I don't see them winning that's tough 'cause I don't see winning three in a row on the road with the two in the middle. I mean that's tough. It's that that's a weird it would be a very strange way for the series to go. All road teams to win out.

That'd be weird. Isn't that how it went last year against the Tigers? They went to a game five, faced Scuble at home and then just beat the crap out of Scooby's.

What's your take?

speaker-0 (42:14)

He sucks. White Sox with Team of Destiny. Murakami, he's Japanese. What are you gonna do against him? He's Japanese.

speaker-1 (42:23)

Bring in the American

speaker-0 (42:24)

No, I'm very I'm very

speaker-1 (42:26)

I mean, we beat him in World War Two, so you bring in do you bring in General MacArthur?

speaker-0 (42:31)

Do where is the nuclear bomb in Tampa? Is there a nuclear bomb in Tampa? Caleb, is there a nuclear bomb in Tampa?

speaker-1 (42:37)

I know,

I mean I'd I would love to find it.

speaker-0 (42:40)

You don't have a guy that you can just drop in there and be like, Yeah, we win because he's here.

speaker-1 (42:45)

I Murakami might be that reincarnation of the bomb. Might be the bomb.

I could see I could see him putting one off the scoreboard in Tampa and in a in a game five or or I mean a game seven. He is Jap he's he is Japanese. He is drunk.

speaker-0 (43:01)

He is Japanese. He's he's hungover. Hung o is it hung over yesterday, drunk today? I am so drunk.

speaker-1 (43:07)

Tran.

All

right, what about Dodgers, Braves? Braves fucking suck. Nobody's beating the Dodgers.

speaker-0 (43:16)

Yeah, what were they doing with Chris Sale? I I didn't I didn't fully understand the management of Chris Sale.

speaker-1 (43:22)

Out the bullpen. Yeah. Up by four in in the seventh, that was it? Yeah. No. Yeah. Desperation time. That's like desperation bringing Chris Sale time. Very No, it shouldn't have been. Bring Chris Sale, and that's fine with me. But it didn't exactly go well. Up up four in game five of the World Series? No. Like the Red Sox did with him.

Up four game seven of the World Series, maybe. Red Sox are terrible organizations, so that makes sense. Well, they were up three one in the series when they brought it in. Why why but why bring him in? What's the point of that? Just to flex?

speaker-0 (44:00)

Yeah, literally. How much were we up in that game? We have four in that.

speaker-1 (44:02)

Five four? Yeah.

I wanna see I wanna see the Brew Maybe maybe five to three. I wanna see the Brewers use fucking Mizrowski every night. Every game. Find a way to start him one game, he can be the closer the next game, long relief the next game, day off, start, closer, bullpen, day off. Just use him all the time.

And then having miss the the four month twenty twenty-seven season. Yeah, so what? Worth it. Who cares? Win the World Series. That's how the Brewers

speaker-0 (44:33)

Yeah, who cares?

speaker-1 (44:34)

beat the Dodgers. Because the Brewers last year, I believe, were six and against the Dodgers in the regular season, and they got their ass swept in like one of the most lackluster playoff performances I've ever seen in my life.

speaker-0 (44:46)

Besides maybe the red side.

speaker-1 (44:47)

Last year were as bad, if not worse, than the Red Sox this year. And it was in a much more important series. It was in a seven game series, not a fucking three gamer on the road.

speaker-0 (44:57)

Yeah. and then Padres Brewers. Very weird. One of my hot takes is based on this series, but the roof.

speaker-1 (45:04)

Should be a dead ball.

Was that your hot take?

speaker-0 (45:08)

No, that's not my hot take.

speaker-1 (45:10)

You seem like a root.

speaker-0 (45:11)

That's actually not my hot take. It's the other it's the other side of it.

yeah, definitely. That's that's that's it.

speaker-1 (45:17)

Straight up. Biggest infield pop-up ever for a grand.

speaker-0 (45:21)

But only like only a certain amount of teams actually have roofs too. So like everyone starts building stadium with a roof a stadium with a roof.

speaker-1 (45:28)

towels over it like the Reddies do. That's our roof. If we hit it

speaker-0 (45:32)

There you go.

speaker-1 (45:33)

and train your guys just to hit like fucking cricket. Bam! straight up in the air. Team's gonna start hanging catwalks down like two feet over the pitcher's head. Removable catwalks. We're removing the catwalk for your at-bat. Then we roll it back down for ours. we need the catwalk this inning.

speaker-0 (45:52)

I don't know, you guys got anything on this series? Padres Brewers.

speaker-1 (45:54)

It just sucks.

Sucks for the Padres. I I hate that that Ty France fly out in game one.

speaker-0 (46:04)

Was that a home run? Did you think it was a home run?

speaker-1 (46:07)

You

see how hard of a of of a downward angle it took after it hit that catwalk, and he's still and Torrio still caught it at the warning track. I the you can't convince me that ball isn't going out. There's no way that that bump off the catwalk affected it by the Well, people people including this one, who I'm who's above me on the screen, the reason they say it was only a home run in one stadium is because they're talking about it being off the catwalk still a home run. Catwalk's not there, that is absolutely a home run.

I looked into that by the way. If it had ricocheted off of that and landed exactly where it landed, it would have been a home run in fucking Dykin Park. What are the what do they call the Astro Stadium now? Daiken Park.

speaker-0 (46:49)

Dyke Dike, I think it is Diken. What even is that? Who what's a

speaker-1 (46:59)

AC fan company. We've our our company has has worked with some of their fans and I've seen their vans around here driving around. Like, hey, big Astros fan Dykin, nice to meet you. I just secured that sale. Can't believe I've met the Dyke.

speaker-0 (47:16)

Dicen.

That's just a bad stadium name. Bad stadium name. From going to from Minute Made Park to Dyken Stadium. What are the keys to victory for the Brewers? Because I think everyone wants a Brewers World Series. I don't think too many people want a Dodgers World Series. Huh?

speaker-1 (47:36)

Get on fucking base, dude. I it we just found out that a team who

gets the majority of their offense from home runs, isn't going to beat the fucking Dodgers. Because the Dodgers will hit home runs with you. Pitch Mizorowski as much as fucking possible. Utilize your bullpen because the Bray Brewers have a fantastic bullpen, lefty heavy bullpen. But you just got to get on base. You have to, you have to get some of the Dodgers starters out of the fucking game. Early. You can't let Yamamoto go seven. Can't let Snell go seven. You gotta get him out in the fifth inning.

I think that lefty heavy bullpen that lefty heavy bullpen's probably going to be the key against the Dodgers lefty heavy lineup, at least in their in terms of their power guys. I was looking at their bullpen. Shohei, Freddie, Muncie. I mean, if you can get some lefty to neutralize those three, I feel pretty good about the rest of the Dodgers lineup. Mookie isn't Mookie anymore.

Yeah. Ashby lefty. Is Yuribe a lefty? No, Eurebay is only they're only like late inning righty. Trev Trevor Miguel Righty. Righty. Yeah, but the majority of their DL Hall, Shane Johan, Robert Gasser can come out of the pen. Kyle Harrison can come out of the pen. I don't know if he's on the roster, but D L Hall recently is. He was in the bullpen. Harrison was available last night. I love D L Hall. I thought he was gonna be a a great starter with the fucking Orioles, but

Here he is. Perfect Ray. Future Ray.

speaker-0 (49:08)

All right. Anything else on the D S or C S?

speaker-1 (49:13)

We'll we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

speaker-0 (49:15)

Okay, all right. Well let's move in to the next segment. Maryland spotlight, the Baltimore Ravens win comfortably, but not without a few bumps in the road. Lamar Jackson is questionable and I don't think he's gonna play this week. that sounds like the report he got rolled up on. some people said it was a dirty hit that he got rolled up on. I I watched it like five times. I was like, this is a very typical

Player trying to tackle him from behind and just unfortunate that his foot got caught. I I don't know how people were saying it was dirty, but it wasn't as comfortable after Lamar went out. But hey, Ravens get a win. They can, you know, still relax at home and then they have a Sunday night game against the Falcons this week. But let's talk a little bit about that win on Sunday, Mike. How you feeling after that?

speaker-2 (50:09)

Yeah, I mean it was win ugly. I mean, I guess you can never expect any team to blow any team out. If it happens, it happens. it's sort of the annual like let's let's just see what we got without Lamar, right? He's not gonna play he's never gonna play the full season. I g I just think there's too much injury risk with him. It wasn't I mean the defense looked pretty solid, especially, you know.

again, like Tennessee's not exactly the biggest barometer of you know, what what kind of defense you have. But they found a way to, you know, got got an interception, got a fumble recovery, you know, made a few plays when they had to. They just didn't score any points in the second half. So, you know, in general, you say, well, if the Ravens give up 18 points, it's a great day. But it got hairy because they just tried to run the ball as much as they could.

In the second half after Lamar went out.

speaker-0 (51:08)

Yeah, and usually that works, but again, I feel like if you you need Lamar to kind of give Henry the the ability to wear the defense down because there's still always the threat of Lamar being there. yeah, Snoop Huntley was not just the offense didn't get moving when Snoop Huntley was there. it did snap a four game home losing streak for the Ravens, which is pretty crazy to think about. but yeah, somehow they have lost four home games.

in a row. Zay Flowers, eight of eighteen and a touchdown. just want to give flowers to to Zay Flowers for that one. Henry, Henry had a touchdown. The Titans, I love this stat because I just hate the Tennessee Titans. I hate them with all my soul. They stole the the Oilers mark like branding. They were just like, yeah, we're taking this because technically we were the Oilers but we left. Like that's just honestly

It's like Colts still wearing the Baltimore Colts uniforms. St it's a little gross. It's a except it's if the Colts changed them and then went back to them like thirty years later. Just weird. And the Ravens never won a Super Bowl. they've been that's you know, Houston's never won. They've never even been to an AFC title game. but yeah, Titans are six and thirty two since Derrick Henry left Tennessee, which is

Again, pretty crazy that they have only won six games since he's been gone.

Yeah. Yeah. If that's wrong, blame the SPN for that. Carnell Tate

speaker-2 (52:44)

Right. I mean, same thing.

speaker-0 (52:46)

Vrabel, yeah. Yeah, yeah, that's that sounds about right. Carnell Tate, that was his welcome to the NFL moment. Nine for one forty five. He did lose a fumble on a big thirty three yard catch late in the game. But yeah, nine of one forty five, that's pretty pretty good for game four for a rookie. and then the other thing I wanted to bring up, very sloppy from the Ravens. Thirteen penalties for 131 yards. This is a very sloppy football team right now.

Even in a game where they killed the Colts in Indianapolis, they had a lot of penalties. I mean, is this I feel like this is just early season early season jitters. It's a it's a brand new system, right? You have a brand new head coach, it's still a good team and they're still finding ways to win. that's I think the more important aspect of this that you know, you're three and one. Am I am I yeah, you're three and one. Yeah and you've had a ton of penalties.

speaker-2 (53:44)

Yeah, third most penalized team in the NFL right now. Colts actually the least penalized team. Titans third least, right? So you had a team that's been disciplined against a team that hasn't been. But penalties have been a problem for the Ravens for years, especially on the offensive line. It I don't know if it's just the system. I don't know. I think the you know, the more Lamar moves around, the more holding penalties he might get. But I don't understand the pre snap penalties. Really should never, especially when you're at home.

PI, you know, like defensive, i that those flags happen a lot. It's just hard to be a good corner more than ever today. And I don't know. It just those it seems like penalties at some point have really hurt them in their biggest games. And get away with it against Tennessee. Can't get away with it when the division's on the line against Cincinnati or Pittsburgh.

speaker-0 (54:34)

Yeah. Well you mentioned the offensive line. the Ravens did add Cam Jergens from Philly. Is that today or yesterday? I can't remember anymore. I think it was yes yeah, it yesterday. yesterday isn't Wednesday. Lane Johnson also retired. Philly's kinda feels like they're maybe kicking, you know, not punting, but just being like, All right, maybe this team isn't very good after losing a big player like that, and then you trade away Cam Jergens. But

Yeah, it was we're we're not gonna have too much time to cover football this week. but it was an interesting week in football, I'll say that. Very interesting week.

speaker-2 (55:12)

Yeah. unfortunately the Raiders I think the worst coaching decision of the week was was the Raiders. Kubiak declining taking a field goal off the board just to go for it on fourth down. I don't know that I'll ever see a dumber decision. And he said he didn't.

speaker-0 (55:28)

Was that a was that a harbaugh move?

speaker-2 (55:30)

I don't even know if Harbaugh would have done that. That is that's really bad. Really bad. And they lost the game by three points, of course, as Karma is undefeated.

So failed test for the Raiders.

speaker-0 (55:44)

And how does a Ravens fan feel about Harbaugh's Giants being three and one? Soft schedule, but doing it with Jameis now. three and one. Wow.

speaker-2 (55:56)

It just proves that both sides needed a fresh start. It's a long marriage. 18 years. You know, sometimes you just need to shake things up and be with other people. And I think Harbaugh's doing a great job right now. I I I'm rooting for him. I'm not not like I have anything against Harbaugh. You know, he gave the Ravens 18 years and they were constantly in contention and won a Super Bowl. but I think everybody is excited that there's a there's a fresh start. We get to see if

Harbaugh was really holding the Ravens back at all this year, hard to tell. It's early. But seems like so far so good. If he can get a three-and-one record with Jameis Winston playing. Yeah.

speaker-0 (56:38)

And Jackson Dart.

speaker-2 (56:40)

Yeah. So facing adversity.

speaker-0 (56:46)

How are we picking this week? most likely no Lamar. Ravens, Falcons in Atlanta. Atlanta currently sits at three point favorites at home. it is Sunday night football as well.

speaker-2 (56:59)

Yeah, this I don't know, Atlanta's kinda right now. this feels like a dangerous spot for the Ravens. Again, I think it's a lot is predicated, of course, on on whether Lamar plays or not, but would they be able to keep up in more of a shootout if Huntley plays? I would say no. they're gonna need a big dose of Derrick Henry to win this game. I

I don't know. It it feels like a toss up to me. Even with Huntley, it feels like a toss up kind of game. I I'm not really sure. Not feeling overly confident, but I'm not feeling great about it either. If you if you had asked me like two weeks ago, Healthy Lamar against the Falcons when Cooper Rush was starting, I'd have been like this is a this is a a bye week, but now

speaker-0 (57:46)

This game should be flexed out of out of prime time.

speaker-2 (57:49)

Yeah, but B. John Robinson, man, he is he's something and the two Robinsons and Penix has looked good last couple of games, so yeah. It's gonna be a tough spot for the Ravens, honestly. I I don't I don't know how good I feel about it. I

speaker-0 (58:06)

What are

you thinking?

speaker-2 (58:08)

I'm gonna take Atlanta. I think this is a week the Ravens, you know, i if Lamar doesn't play. I think if Lamar plays, I think I would at least maybe take the plus three. Well, I guess the spread would change. So I'm gonna just officially take the Falcons.

speaker-0 (58:22)

I'm curious if that if that three is assuming Lamar will play. Cause I don't think he's been officially ruled out. I think they're they're saying he's tracking towards not playing. which to be honest, I think that's kind of the smart decision. Just it's week five. It's a week five game on the road against Atlanta. If you have Super Bowl aspirations, this game isn't the biggest, you know, it's not your biggest

Fish to fry. I'll just say that. if you again, if you have Super Bowl aspirations and your quarterback is nursing an ankle injury, your running quarterback is nursing an ankle injury. I I don't think it's the dumbest thing to have him sit here, but what do I know? But yeah, if Lamar if Lamar sits, I'm I'm gonna take the Falcons. I feel like the Ravens are gonna come out with some some juice though. I think a lot of they'll know a lot of people are counting them out going into this so.

I would I would venture to take the Ravens plus three. even here, just with a you know, Jesse Minter led team, maybe the defense will will come to play and and keep them in this game. If Lamar plays, I'm taking the Ravens. Yeah. Easy.

speaker-2 (59:35)

I would too. But I'm assuming he's not gonna play and I think that is why the Lions three. I think it wouldn't I think the Ravens would be favored or at least it'd be very c close if he was playing.

speaker-0 (59:44)

Alrighty, well let's move on to the next segment.

Alright, welcome back to the podcast that is that why I can't even remember my spiel that was invented in two thousand sixteen and it was not inspired by pardon the interruption. And we thought about it right before Harambe died and 'cause we we created this cause we felt bad for Harambe and we knew that he had some great takes to to get out. Caleb, what's your take? Caleb, what's your take?

speaker-1 (1:00:20)

I'll preface this by saying the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting the same results, which is what the new Yeah, that's what I meant. Totally meant to say that. That's what the New York Yankees have been doing with Brian Cashman and Aaron Boone running running the team. They've been running back Boone since twenty eighteen. They've been running back Cashman since God knows how long he's been there, thirty years plus.

And it's the same thing over and over. Devastating or embarrassing playoff loss early on, with the exception of 2024. It's not getting it done. Bring in new guys. Boone cannot be the manager next year. I know Buster only came out on ESPN today and said that those two are probably going to be back this year, which is just ridiculous for me to hear. If my team

speaker-0 (1:01:14)

That's great.

speaker-1 (1:01:15)

for a Red Sox fan, what exactly did he do wrong?

Which one? Boone. Ex what exactly did he do wrong in the right series? He didn't throw Carlos Rodon for a single inning the entire postseason, let alone the division series. I know he's slated for game four, but when your back's on the line, you gotta do something. He's batting Trent Grisham leadoff, who's hitting one hundred out of the leadoff spot this year. And is it just expecting something? And then he's he's getting your most at bats.

And he's done nothing. His at bat in the seventh inning. Your leadoff hitter is taking three pitches down the middle. For who are you leading off? Lombard? Rice. Ben Rice should be hitting leadoff. Ben Rice. At least in that playoff series. At least in that playoff series. I I want in a playoffs at bats as possible. In my in a playoff series, I want my best hitter to get the most at bats possible, especially with Aaron Judge out of the lineup.

There you can't just throw rice in there to have Judge protect him, get get rice some more

Can't think of the right word.

More adjective at bats. I can't remember the words, whatever. But I'm I I'm not running Boone back out there. Not even for a s individual specific reason, just for the fact that he has been here since twenty eighteen, twenty seventeen, I remember

speaker-0 (1:02:36)

Eighteen, twenty eighteen.

speaker-1 (1:02:37)

twenty eighteen. Okay. And it's been basically the same result. They have a great regular season carried by Aaron Judge. They get to the playoffs and it's just nothing. It is either not

They're a completely different team when they reach the playoffs.

speaker-0 (1:02:52)

Sometimes you just need a change of of scenery. Like you roll with a guy for that long. You need a change of scenery. You need a new face that's talking to the guys 'cause it can get old. The message is getting old. They have

speaker-1 (1:03:06)

The

Red Sox loved the Red Sox loved Alex Cora for so long. They changed it up this year, and whether you believe that was Chad Tracy's doing or not, they went on a run when they got rid of Cora.

And maybe that's something that the Yankees can do with I mean, the Boone is a players manager and the players are never going to complain about a manager like that. They're not going to to talk to the front office and be like, Listen, we a change needs to be made. It's it's just

speaker-0 (1:03:34)

That's why you need

speaker-1 (1:03:34)

We'll throw the Yankees front office here.

speaker-0 (1:03:36)

you need an adult in the room to say, yeah, everyone likes him, but this guy just isn't working. Joe Girardi was there for nine years and he won a World Series and they fired him after twenty seventeen, after they lost to the Astros in the ALCS. I mean, Aaron Boone hasn't won a World Series, and the one World Series they were in, it was almost non competitive.

speaker-1 (1:03:57)

What would George Steinbrenner have done in the seventies?

speaker-0 (1:03:59)

George

Steinbrenner. George Steinbrenner.

speaker-1 (1:04:02)

He

wouldn't fire Boone after after like twenty twenty.

speaker-0 (1:04:07)

He

would have fired Boone after losing in the twenty one wildcard game.

speaker-1 (1:04:11)

And he might not even think it's Boone's fault, but someone has to take the fall. Something's gotta change. Yeah. I think it should be both Cashman and Boone, but at the very least, you gotta start with Boone.

speaker-0 (1:04:20)

Yeah, I don't know what Cashman I don't know what Cashman has done to keep his job for this long. he's gotta have like some sort of information on a someone in the Yankee organization.

speaker-1 (1:04:32)

liked some of the decisions Boone has made I mean I liked the decision to roll with Schlittler longer against the Red Sox even after the Red Sox brought Tully out. I thought that was a

speaker-0 (1:04:42)

I said that too on last week. I said I agreed with that. I said that's fine. But it doesn't matter because you are the New York Yankees. The expectation every year is win the World Series because you spend and you do things that say our goal is to win the World Series. It's not the Rays where you're like, We just wanna we wanna be competitive and make the playoffs, you know, shucks, we lost in the playoffs, not a big deal. No, you're you you're the Yankees. Act like the fucking Yankees and Aaron Boone

Keeping Aaron Boone and and Cashman this long is not acting like the Yankees. Again, like you said, Caleb, what would George Steinbrenner say? He would he would set a bomb off in the locker room. He would be like, You guys haven't won in seventeen years? Are you fucking serious?

speaker-1 (1:05:25)

He would have brought back Joe Girardi. 'Cause didn't he bring back guy in the eighties when they fired managers every single year and he kept going back to Billy Martin. Billy Martin. Over and over over Billy Martin had like four different stints there. So he's like, the guy we hired sucks. Come on.

speaker-0 (1:05:41)

He would probably

bring Billy Martin back to life to replace Aaron Boone.

speaker-1 (1:05:46)

Facts. The corpse of Billy Martin would probably be more effective than Aaron Boone. Billy Martin didn't put up with shit.

speaker-0 (1:05:52)

The message

just isn't getting

speaker-1 (1:05:56)

Little

asshole like Jazz Chisholm.

speaker-0 (1:05:58)

Like I'm sorry, seeing Jazz Chisholm throw that ball away, I was like, are you fucking serious, this guy? Really?

speaker-1 (1:06:04)

Accountability.

speaker-0 (1:06:06)

Was it was it game he didn't even come out and like take grounders or take batting practice or 'cause he wasn't starting. I think it was game three he didn't come out and and do anything. He was just like, Yeah, I'm not starting, so I'm not gonna like what George Steinbrenner would never let anyone get away with that. Joe Torrey doesn't let you get away with that.

speaker-1 (1:06:26)

Be cut on the spot.

speaker-0 (1:06:28)

Yeah. Joe Tori was a dog. Yeah.

speaker-1 (1:06:32)

Joe Torrey still alive, bring back Joe Torrey.

speaker-0 (1:06:35)

He is alive. He's in is he in the Cardinals organization right now?

speaker-1 (1:06:38)

No, he's with no he's working for the league. He's probably seen him. He's probably gonna be partially the reason they're the lock cap.

speaker-0 (1:06:53)

He should have told that to Jazz. Maybe that would work.

speaker-1 (1:06:55)

Do you

think this is? You think this fucking Aaron Boone's not laying the the hammer.

speaker-0 (1:07:00)

No, I

guarantee you he goes up to Jazz, he's like, It's okay, I'm not starting you. It's okay. It's okay. He's like patting him on the back, trying to give him like a an attaboy or something, make him feel good about himself.

speaker-1 (1:07:11)

There's nothing to warm up for because we're not going to fucking game four. It's cool, buddy. Just rest up for next year. Wherever you are.

speaker-0 (1:07:21)

I I agree with that take. That's a good take. shut

speaker-1 (1:07:25)

I have a

speaker-0 (1:07:26)

up. I have a take. I have it I have an opinion. Sometimes

speaker-1 (1:07:29)

Do it.

speaker-0 (1:07:32)

sometimes people are saying baseball should never be played indoors. Sometimes it needs to be played indoors. I'm sorry if you're a Padres fan, you're upset that that your home run got taken away from you. But sometimes it does need to be played indoors. Remember they couldn't have the Rays play

at home in the summer last year because they were playing at Steinbrenner and it's an outdoor field and they were worried about the rain coming through because it comes through every night in Florida. Sometimes it does have to be played indoors. But having a hard sixty five degrees we're closing the roof, that's stupid too. That's just as stupid.

speaker-1 (1:08:07)

be closed for weather.

speaker-0 (1:08:08)

For weather, for rain. And that's that's a roof also, like they don't need to do it before the game. They can do it at any point in the game.

speaker-1 (1:08:16)

Ban retracta ran ban roofs that aren't retractable.

speaker-0 (1:08:19)

It only needs to do it yeah, I I agree with that as well. It only needs to happen if there's rain. The roof should be open unless there is rain. But just people saying it should never be played indoors whatsoever is also just as stupid. But I I mean the fact that they're like, Yeah, if it's under sixty five degrees, we close it. Like Fenway Park, they're playing an October baseball game if it's forty degrees. They're like, tough it out. This is fucking Boston.

Even New York, like anywhere else they're playing outdoors. That shit it's soft. It's really soft to do that. So I'm like equally as mad.

speaker-1 (1:08:54)

Sweltering fucking it should be uncomfortably hot when you're watching the summer.

speaker-0 (1:08:59)

Maybe that's

why the rays stink. Maybe that's why the rays stink. They don't ha they don't they just don't have it. They don't have the dog in them to play in the heat.

speaker-1 (1:09:08)

They can just roll back the roof like a newspaper. Get a bunch of dudes up there rolling back the roof.

speaker-0 (1:09:15)

You imagine the the ground screw the ground screw has to go up there and like balance on ba yeah, balance on the catwalks while they're like trying to roll the tarp up. They're like

speaker-1 (1:09:25)

that's so good. It's it's no different than the the tarp that covers the infield. That's what they got up there. Roll

speaker-0 (1:09:31)

Yeah.

speaker-1 (1:09:32)

it up. Like a big old towel. Yeah are you ready for my take? The bun is fucking back, baby. I don't know if you guys have looked at the bunt numbers. but the bunt bottomed out in twenty four. And it is on a consistent rise. And what I what I saw both the Padres and Brewers bunted in key spots. Both of them got a run across.

If teams truly embrace the bunt in the regular season, I think you can pick up ten to fifteen wins. Just get a few guys on your roster that can really fucking butt. if you guys

speaker-0 (1:10:05)

need

the bunt derby. We need the bunt derby in in the all star game.

speaker-1 (1:10:10)

Yeah, put little targets out there and just bun in

speaker-0 (1:10:13)

Give me Bunk Derby. Absolutely.

speaker-1 (1:10:15)

Kyle Isbell, center fielder for the Royals. Every single time it lays down a butt, it does what it's supposed to do.

speaker-0 (1:10:21)

Too

bad he doesn't he doesn't get a chance to do it in the playoffs where it where it matters.

speaker-1 (1:10:25)

You see some team butt and everyone's like, What a great move. What a great move. Why aren't we doing this in the regular season? You got runners on second first and second, one out or no outs, fucking bun over. Every single time. So it should be a non negotiable bun over. In the months of July and August, you know who the leading bunters bunting team in the league was? The Red Sox. It was the Red Sox.

speaker-0 (1:10:47)

Maybe that's why we fucking fell apart and said,

speaker-1 (1:10:50)

Number

five. Bunch.

speaker-0 (1:10:52)

Maybe that's why they fell apart in September.

speaker-1 (1:10:54)

I'm all for a small ball. I'm all for bringing back the traditional leadoff guy who's terrified

speaker-0 (1:10:59)

Manufacturing runs.

speaker-1 (1:11:02)

of of laying down a bunch, getting on base and stealing two bags. Slap single. Give me the small ball. I'm all for it.

speaker-0 (1:11:10)

It's I think it's an art being able to manufacture a run. Like yeah, you can you can take one big swing and hit a home run, but it's an art to manufacture get like get a guy on with maybe just a little slap single and then move him over. Just move him over all the way around. It's it's beautiful.

speaker-1 (1:11:26)

Clarify one thing. Do not equate my opinion to Moneyball. Not the same thing.

speaker-0 (1:11:34)

He's he's

doing money ball right Moneyball. Caleb, he's doing money ball right now. Billy Billy Bean is listening to this episode right now, just clapping. He's like, let's go. Let's go. This guy knows ball. Where

speaker-1 (1:11:47)

You ha you still have

speaker-0 (1:11:49)

were you in 2002 for the A's? You could have helped build that team.

speaker-1 (1:11:53)

I

was watching Barry Zito eat the league for fucking breakfast and Miguel Tejada win the MVP. That's what I was doing in in that year.

speaker-0 (1:12:02)

Somebody get Aaron Sorkin on the line. He's he's got a John's got a new movie. New Moneyball. Money ball two.

speaker-1 (1:12:08)

Bunchy ball butt balls.

speaker-0 (1:12:10)

Money ball two.

I think we have a that's a perfect movie. Awesome. All right. I think that's a good spot to wrap up. We're gonna move into the snake draft. All right, best MLB uniform snake draft. I did win last week's snake draft, the sports nicknames. Snake draft. Thank you to the crowd for or the audience for picking me. John, where are you drafting? Number two.

speaker-1 (1:12:36)

I think I wanna be right in the middle of you boys.

speaker-0 (1:12:41)

I'll give I'll give Caleb number one, I'll take number three.

speaker-1 (1:12:44)

I don't have a secure number one.

speaker-0 (1:12:47)

I again like I think this is a very this is like the nicknames, this is a very subjective one. Yeah. Where there might be a few top picks that we would all take, but you can you can get real niche.

speaker-1 (1:12:58)

Fucking

vests. Twenty bucks is Caleb's spam vest.

speaker-0 (1:13:01)

I have some vests on there. I have some vests on your

speaker-1 (1:13:05)

That's one of my two. one

speaker-0 (1:13:07)

Mind a pull over.

speaker-1 (1:13:08)

one of my two top picks are are our vest and I really wonder if I should take it now.

I'm going to. Yep. Give me the the Diamondbacks purple pinstripe vest with the purple sleeves. Can

speaker-0 (1:13:23)

Great one.

speaker-1 (1:13:26)

we still take like a different Diamondbacks jersey?

speaker-0 (1:13:30)

Yeah, I think that's fine. Caleb.

speaker-1 (1:13:32)

Okay, I didn't have that bad. I

don't care if you that's fine. You don't care. I'm I'm going the obvious one one. The Bryce Harper per se of this draft. The Steven Strasberg. I'm taking Mariner's teal.

speaker-0 (1:13:45)

Any specific mariner's teal like

speaker-1 (1:13:48)

The Ken Griffey Junior era Mariners TL. Yeah. I know exactly what ones you're talking about. Mm mm.

speaker-0 (1:13:54)

'cause there's multiple mariner's teals, so.

speaker-1 (1:13:56)

No, had the TL ones on my list too.

speaker-0 (1:13:59)

d hold on. The ran just so for my reference when I'm making the graphics, it's the like the Randy Johnson D Bax pinstripes. Okay. Yep.

speaker-1 (1:14:08)

The v it has to be the vest with the purple sleeves.

speaker-0 (1:14:11)

Yeah. That was the exact one I also had on mine.

speaker-1 (1:14:15)

My other option falls to me at six, I will cry.

speaker-0 (1:14:20)

There's a lot of powder blues out there.

speaker-1 (1:14:23)

Yeah. There's one correct powder blues. There is one correct powder blue. Correct powder blue. worn by a very, very good National League third baseman. Home run hitting National League third baseman. That's not what I was gonna go with. Phillies

speaker-0 (1:14:37)

I don't know.

speaker-1 (1:14:38)

big P. That wasn't mine. That wasn't gonna be mine.

speaker-0 (1:14:41)

There's my fa my favorite, because I also love the logo and I love the color combo. the Expos, the 60s powder blue. Just

speaker-1 (1:14:50)

That is the correct.

speaker-0 (1:14:51)

the the red, white, and blue and the powder blue, the the expos logo, it looks so like 60s, 70s. It's perfect. Beautiful.

speaker-1 (1:15:01)

That's your pick.

speaker-0 (1:15:02)

Yeah, I'm taking that one. Okay. I'm actually just gonna copy and paste what I referenced here.

This is again, it's so hard to choose 'cause there's just so many beautiful ones. I think I think the seventies and eighties had the best. Yeah. Like overall, like the density is the seventies and eighties. 'cause those are the most of the ones that I have.

Interesting. I don't really want to go another powder blue here. I'm gonna take

I want the the Kelly Green athletics uniforms from the seventies. Damn it. Those are so nice.

speaker-1 (1:15:40)

Not the A's uniform I had from that.

speaker-0 (1:15:44)

There's another there is another one that's really good, but I like the Kelly Green. I think it's a little a little sharper.

speaker-1 (1:15:51)

You can't go wrong with either, but that that's the other one.

speaker-0 (1:15:54)

John?

speaker-1 (1:15:55)

Wall I want to get. I feel like John's gonna take my next pick. I don't think I am, Caleb. I

speaker-0 (1:16:02)

Yeah, thank you.

speaker-1 (1:16:02)

am. Is yours a National League jersey? Yep. Is it worn by Hank Aaron? No, I do have that on my list though. That's a good nineteen

speaker-0 (1:16:11)

Those are good. Those are on my list.

speaker-1 (1:16:12)

seventy-two home white navy sleeves, brave script, kind of at an angle. Famously worn by Henry Aaron.

speaker-0 (1:16:21)

The white

speaker-1 (1:16:22)

White sh white with a navy sleeves. Or white with like the blue sleeves, yeah. Specifically I pulled the nineteen seventy two home.

speaker-0 (1:16:31)

Pretty good.

speaker-1 (1:16:33)

Thank you.

speaker-0 (1:16:34)

Okay, well.

speaker-1 (1:16:35)

just looking it up to make sure I got it right. Yep. I was going to take this one one, and I'm very glad it fell to me at six. I will take the seventies pirates uniforms, the gold jerseys,

speaker-0 (1:16:49)

Wear cap

speaker-1 (1:16:50)

with the square cap and the stars on it.

speaker-0 (1:16:52)

Those are really good.

speaker-1 (1:16:54)

Those were iconics. No, not the vest. The the sh the

speaker-0 (1:16:58)

No, no, no.

speaker-1 (1:16:59)

gold jersey. Pirates. The pullover?

No, it was just a well yeah, yeah, pullover, I guess.

speaker-0 (1:17:06)

I will probably be messaging you guys to confirm that these are correct when I'm making the graphics. CYI.

speaker-1 (1:17:13)

The same year.

speaker-0 (1:17:14)

Like with pictures so I don't put up the wrong thing. your next pick, Caleb.

speaker-1 (1:17:19)

god I got two.

You know what? Give me I'm gonna appeal to John here a little bit. give me the the baby blue seventies, eighties Royals jerseys.

speaker-0 (1:17:32)

George Brett's

speaker-1 (1:17:33)

Yeah.

Is that getting me back for taking a a re a Red Sox moment? No, that was just that was just straight up me not thinking that that was gonna get to me in the next next wraparound. I I didn't think anybody was gonna that was gonna be my powdered blue. All right. I got an no, I don't have another one.

speaker-0 (1:17:52)

Didn't you take a worse Red Sox moment in the Red Sox Yankees draft or something?

speaker-1 (1:17:56)

My opinion. Not my opinion.

speaker-0 (1:17:58)

'Cause I think you took like the game five walk off.

speaker-1 (1:18:01)

No, he took that in like the third or fourth round. Do I take my modern jersey?

I'm gonna take the all red Cardinals. that's good.

speaker-0 (1:18:10)

I think I think their regular homes are better.

speaker-1 (1:18:13)

All red birds on the back.

speaker-0 (1:18:16)

I think I think their regular home ones are better.

speaker-1 (1:18:19)

No, the all red.

speaker-0 (1:18:19)

Just the standard.

speaker-1 (1:18:21)

I think I'm taking all red too.

speaker-0 (1:18:23)

Like something something about some of the standards.

speaker-1 (1:18:26)

I have some standard ones on my list. I don't think I'm gonna take any though.

speaker-0 (1:18:29)

Do I wanna go with like early two thousands or another seventies one?

speaker-1 (1:18:36)

There's another I've got two really good three really good early two thousand.

speaker-0 (1:18:41)

I'm gonna take the tequila sunrise Astros. damn. I love those. What are you talking about, dude? No

speaker-1 (1:18:48)

Those are so good.

speaker-0 (1:18:49)

Those are so good and you wear the socks with the tequila sunrise on it too. Like it just fits

speaker-1 (1:18:54)

Talking

the one with the number the number on the pants?

speaker-0 (1:18:57)

Hold on, let me look it up.

speaker-1 (1:18:58)

From like the eighties. Yeah, the like I was I was literally about to go, yeah. I have Nolan Ryan Julie for the

speaker-0 (1:19:07)

Yeah,

those exact ones.

speaker-1 (1:19:10)

I

was gonna go grab that jersey to make my next pick.

speaker-0 (1:19:12)

But I'm I don't need to share my screen because I think you guys know what I'm talking about. But tequila sunrise.

speaker-1 (1:19:18)

I can go get that jersey right now if I don't think it's the best jersey with that color scheme.

speaker-0 (1:19:23)

Well, it's not your fucking turn yet, so

speaker-1 (1:19:26)

Take it.

speaker-0 (1:19:30)

Hmm, interesting. I don't know where to go here. Let me think. I have a green, I have a blue, I have like an orange.

speaker-1 (1:19:43)

I'm doing the same thing. I'm trying not to like stack colors.

speaker-0 (1:19:46)

Yeah.

speaker-1 (1:19:47)

well happily stack colors. I don't give a sh

speaker-0 (1:19:49)

Let

me let me go with a road uniform. How about a road uniform? I love some good road uniforms. I'm gonna take the eighties Mets road uniforms. I love the eighties Mets. Blue the just the regular like the standard with the with the pinstripes,

speaker-1 (1:20:04)

It's not even I'm not even getting any

speaker-0 (1:20:08)

That's fine. I think they're great. The Daryl Strawberry, I love those. I think those are great. The Coking They don't have pinstripes. They do not have the pinstripes, but still I'm taking the Daryl Strawberry Mets uniforms.

speaker-1 (1:20:20)

With like the piping down the shoulder?

speaker-0 (1:20:22)

Yeah.

speaker-1 (1:20:22)

Yeah, that was Okay. That's a good one.

speaker-0 (1:20:25)

Needed to get a little get a little standard s something standard in there. Something that's, you know, been around for a while. John, you're up

speaker-1 (1:20:33)

Give me the Angels home halo.

speaker-0 (1:20:35)

That is not the Angels one I thought you would have gone with.

speaker-1 (1:20:38)

Angels Home Halo. I like the Halo on the A. I think that is a fucking classic look. I love it.

speaker-0 (1:20:44)

Okay. Caleb, back to back.

speaker-1 (1:20:48)

first one I'll go the classic Cubs pinstripe home uniforms.

speaker-0 (1:20:52)

that that was on mine too. Those are

speaker-1 (1:20:54)

Those

are clean. I mean they're the best pinstripe best pinstripe uniforms in the game.

speaker-0 (1:20:59)

I love a good off center jersey too. Like with a lo with the logo here. Doesn't need to be across the chest. Sometimes it can just be here.

speaker-1 (1:21:08)

next one, you know I'm not going through this draft without taking a Red Sox jersey. I am going to take the best current uniform in baseball. I'm taking the green Monster City Connect Red Sox uniforms. Maybe a hot take.

speaker-0 (1:21:21)

No I thought you were I honestly This was on the list, it was a little further down. I thought you were gonna go with the pullovers. The red no the red hat pullovers.

speaker-1 (1:21:31)

No,

the green the Green City Connects are the best City Connects in in the in the game. Cherry Boston By far. No. I really like the Royals Fountain, but it's just me. I've gotta take a powdered blue, don't I? You gotta take a powdered blue. Cause I gotta counter your powdered blues. Give me the twins powdered blue with the red lettering from the mid seventies through the mid eighties.

The twins powdered blue.

speaker-0 (1:22:01)

Wow, I can't believe 'cause I'm not taking the Phillies. I can't believe the Phillies powder blue didn't come off the board.

speaker-1 (1:22:07)

I think I appeal the twins one is better. More red. I think I don't know. I I don't love the maroon, even though I think the f when I think powder blue, I think the Phillies, Mike Schmidt era. But I like the twins like Rod Crew era, powdered blue a little better.

speaker-0 (1:22:22)

Okay. Mr. Irrelevant. I'm I I'm gonna go with another vest. And I'm gonna go with the white and teal Florida Marlins vest from the early 2000s. you know, I was also looking up like uniforms and you know, people make lists and they put best uniform for each team. Someone threw in the Miami Marlins, like the Jose Fernandez era. Those were just the most boring.

The most boring jerseys I've ever seen. Absolutely zero interest from me.

speaker-1 (1:22:54)

Nobody take a black jersey.

speaker-0 (1:22:56)

No, but I did have the Marlins black jerseys on my list.

speaker-1 (1:22:59)

I have the the Devil Rays black jersey. Matt's black.

speaker-0 (1:23:07)

tryna see. I had I did have yeah, we can just go through

speaker-1 (1:23:13)

White Sox, Southside City Connect. Really good one.

speaker-0 (1:23:16)

Those were good.

speaker-1 (1:23:18)

I had D backed.

1978 Brewers pull over powdered blue, and then I have the Gwynera Padres brown with the white or the yellow and orange on the sleeves. Which I think is better than Tequila Sunrise for that look. I I also have the the 70s A's, the gold vest, gold vest, gold pants, green sleeves.

speaker-0 (1:23:43)

yeah.

speaker-1 (1:23:44)

That one was clean.

And then I had the the eighties white socks. I think they still wear it as a throwback, or it's just it's a big like sock. It just says socks right here and it's all

speaker-0 (1:23:54)

Blue the red, white and blue ones?

speaker-1 (1:23:55)

Yeah.

speaker-0 (1:23:56)

those are so good too, I had on there.

speaker-1 (1:23:59)

I had them on the list too.

speaker-0 (1:24:00)

Those those can be those seem a little controversial among White Sox fans, so I was like, I don't know if I want to take that. Some people were like, they're okay.

speaker-1 (1:24:08)

I thought it was clean. I wasn't gonna go with it just because they still wear it as a throwback uniform and I feel like it wasn't didn't have the nostalgia to Old old school. Old old school. I think the cut

speaker-0 (1:24:18)

What

do you mean what do you mean old? Like

speaker-1 (1:24:20)

Like like talking Ty Cobb era. I was gonna say Ty Cobb, the old English D on the Detroit uniform.

speaker-0 (1:24:27)

I think the funny one of my fav and it's just 'cause it's kinda it's goofy, is the Red Sox with the giant sock and it says Boston in the middle. It's so funny. And they always especially like how when they would wear in as like throwback uniforms, they were always so baggy. Like I think they grabbed the original like cotton uniforms that they wore back in the day and they were like, Here, Kevin Euclid's just wear this.

speaker-1 (1:24:52)

They still had him in the depths of Fenway Park. Yeah.

speaker-0 (1:24:55)

Yeah, it was the wool it was probably the wool, like the real uniforms. It was like here, wear where wear Babe Ruth's original uniform.

speaker-1 (1:25:02)

David Wells wore Bay Ruth's original hat in a game.

speaker-0 (1:25:05)

Yeah, he was li he just did it to do it, right? No, it wasn't the perfect game.

speaker-1 (1:25:10)

It wasn't I can't believe David Wells to a fucking perfect game.

speaker-0 (1:25:14)

I had I had the black Marlins uniforms, I of Dontro Willis, when I see those.

speaker-1 (1:25:21)

black D backs. The black throwback D backs.

speaker-0 (1:25:23)

Yeah. The powder blue brewers with the and also the pinstripe brewers with like the retro script across it's it just says brewers and it's in blue and gold.

speaker-1 (1:25:34)

The old Paul Moller uniform.

speaker-0 (1:25:37)

Yeah, Robin Yao. what I had the Hammer and Hank, which you took those. the the Reds vest jerseys, I think of Derek Dietrich Dietrich. Muscle when they were just flexing the whole time. Mike They were like not they weren't very good, but they looked awesome. They

speaker-1 (1:25:57)

I'm more thinking

Barry Larkin with that one. Barry Larkin and Eric Davis.

BP Eric Davis.

speaker-0 (1:26:04)

Should been

the standard Giants uniforms, just like San Francisco home uniforms. I think those are good. the early 70s Rangers home uniforms, like when they first were the Rangers. the T they only wore them for two years, but the Tigers blew away jerseys. And they had, I think it was a Tiger and a D up here, and it was like

speaker-1 (1:26:34)

Yeah.

speaker-0 (1:26:34)

Yeah, with also a D. From they wore from ninety five to ninety seven. the Colt forty fives, Houston Colt forty fives, with the gun, like a gun on your chest. That's just that's fucking sick.

speaker-1 (1:26:49)

so manly. a baby blue uniform we got we went past was the old Rangers baby blues.

it just had Texas across the front and like really awesome.

speaker-0 (1:27:03)

Yeah. the original Seattle home uniform with the Trident Yeah. The

speaker-1 (1:27:08)

yeah.

speaker-0 (1:27:09)

Mariner. Those were in baby I think those were baby blue as well.

speaker-1 (1:27:13)

Well they also had like the the

speaker-0 (1:27:15)

Yeah. All blue. But I just like I like the trident the trident that they had on it.

speaker-1 (1:27:20)

It's the only acceptable home run celebration like item. All the rest are fucking stupid.

speaker-0 (1:27:27)

The Wally helmet? Come on, the Wally helmet's pretty good. I love the Wally helmet.

speaker-1 (1:27:32)

Okay,

speaker-0 (1:27:34)

The Wally Hell it puts it on it's like

speaker-1 (1:27:35)

no, it's like interception chains. It's ridiculous. It's ridiculous. Stop copying people. Nothing beats the twenty twenty one laundry cart for me and for the rest.

speaker-0 (1:27:46)

yeah. What's it what, John's got a problem with that one too?

speaker-1 (1:27:50)

Fucking J no, there was a there was a baseball card with somebody in it was like Brock Holt or somebody in the It was probably Kevin Polecki. It was great. Kevin Polecki was the guy behind that. I don't think he had a card. In like Top Scrum. Probably not. Legend legendary backup catcher. Only ten players per team in Top Scrum. The Plaw Dog was a key part of that twenty twenty one team, I'll have you know. for sure.

speaker-0 (1:28:14)

Yeah.

speaker-1 (1:28:14)

Everybody

remembers that's common baseball knowledge. Big double off Garrett Cole in the wild card game. Yeah, everybody remembers that.

speaker-0 (1:28:20)

Well

everyone was doing it against Garrett Cole. All right. Caleb had D Bax Pinstripe, Randy Johnson jerseys, Square Cap Gold Pirates jerseys, the Brett and Bo Jackson, not Brett Jackson, George Brett and Bo Jackson, Royals jerseys, home cubs uniforms, and the Green Monster City Connects. John had the Mariners Teal Ken Griffey era jerseys.

The Braves nineteen seventy white with blue sleeves, the all-red Cardinals jerseys, the Angels home Halo uniforms, twins powder blues with red lettering. Alex had the Montreal powder blues, the Kelly Green A's, the Tequila Sunrise Astros, the 80s Mets, and the White and Teal Florida Marlins Vest. and I still maintain the seventies and eighties had the best baseball uniforms of

speaker-1 (1:29:14)

I'm gonna go come out and say I think the best pick in the draft is Alex's Kelly Green. I have that for my next pick. That was coming right back.

speaker-0 (1:29:21)

Kelly Green A's. Yeah.

speaker-1 (1:29:24)

I like when they wear it now. Nick Kurtz in a Kelly Green uniform.

speaker-0 (1:29:27)

Say that slow. Say that name slow. All right.

speaker-1 (1:29:30)

Kurtz.

speaker-0 (1:29:31)

Alright, I think that's a good place to wrap up. Make sure to vote on the draft at chaoticallyintolerant dot com. again, you can go check out the store. We have this hat. I keep hitting my fucking thing. go check out Springhill Sports Cards at you on YouTube and TikTok. You can check out Caleb in any sort of sports comment section, mostly on Instagram and Twitter, but we're not gonna drop his Twitter.

Yeah, nine thirty, especially like a Friday night. Friday night, nine thirty, you're getting Caleb instant reaction to the Patriots big win off the Bills. Right.

speaker-1 (1:30:06)

Efton Chisholm. Efton Chisholm is better than West Walker.

speaker-0 (1:30:09)

Better.

speaker-1 (1:30:10)

No, but f no but for real. he's the guy who he's the guy who made the one handed catch on CJ Gar Gardner Johnson's still fucking happy.

speaker-0 (1:30:18)

And then CJ Gardner Johnson was like he's a practice squad player.

speaker-1 (1:30:21)

Who's played less games on the or spent less days on the practice squad than Gardner Johnson has. But in reality, it was nice to see Drake May look normal again. It was nice to see the offense running like it was last year, rather than the first three games this year, May throwing having May throwing a bunch of design screens and slants, check downs, and relying on Ramondre Stevenson for whatever reason. But it was nice to kind of

It was nice to see Drake May look like Drake May again and I hope he looks even better against the Raiders defense this weekend.

speaker-0 (1:30:55)

Are you worried that there was a Patriots, I don't know, a little bit of like a boost because it was a big divisional matchup? do you feel like they're gonna come a little bit back this week? 'Cause sometimes teams get up get up a little more for the divisional games.

speaker-1 (1:31:12)

No, I think they'll spring ahead and take yeah, Jesus. I think I think they'll take this game and and spring ahead with it, like they did last year in the game in Buffalo when they when they beat the Bills on prime time in Buffalo. And then they just took off from there. I would like to see them do it again this year. And nice nice couple weeks coming up and then once we hit week eight or nine, the schedule gets really tough so

Hopefully they can keep momentum going from that.

speaker-0 (1:31:45)

All right, well, we'll see you guys next week.
